Google Pixel 2 XL Unboxing — Reviewer's kit

It really is nothing better than unboxing a brand-new phone. So that's what we're going to do today. This is the reviewers kit of the pixel 2 XL. Let's start with this bad boy. This is the daydream view. This is the 2017 version, and it's a little updated from what we got last year.

So the first thing that you'll notice about it is that it's a little chunkier on the front, and that is to get rid of a bit of heat that is given from the phone itself. It's a fascinating addition, because Google must have heard from a bunch of people whose phones, overheated and maybe shut down, and these the space here allows that heat to dispel out through the top and the bottom and potentially prevent some of that overheating. In this new version we also have new lenses this. These lenses allow for a wider field of view and give a more immersive experience, and then there is this new top strap, which makes the headset more comfortable to wear for longer periods. Nice changes.

We still have that gray felt material, but it's a little less like a carpet. I'd say this is more like a like: a synthetic couch, it's um a little more I would I, don't know it's less garish and slightly nicer to feel, but it looks basically the same. You also have the also have the controller, which is unchanged from last year, which, in my opinion, is just fine. This is a perfectly usable controller and I. Don't see reason for Google to change that, so we'll put that to the side here, and we will take a look that the next thing.

This is the Libra tone. Cue adapt headphones now. These are fascinating for a number of reasons, mainly because they showcase the new made for Google features. Now that allows the headphones to pair really easily with the new Google Pixel to smartphones. So this is a case that you get with it and these are the headphones themselves, and you can hook them up using the regular 3.5 millimeter headphone jack, but you don't have to because they are Bluetooth. This is a micro, USB charging, cable, and you can see that the cable itself is nice, and it's a braided, cable it'll.

Last a long time these are called on ear headphones, as opposed to over the ear headphones and I haven't tried them yet, but they look pretty nice, and we've heard good things about the sound quality. Libre's tone has a great reputation for sound quality, so it can't wait to check this out. Obviously, though, you are not here for these minor accessories. You are here for this: the pixel and pixel 2 XL. So let's dive right into this.

So this is the main event. This is the pixel to XL, and it's the better of the two colors. In my opinion, this is the Panda version, and we'll see in a moment what that looks like on the back. The company is leaning into the team, pixel hashtag. This has to do with the camera.

It started out as an Instagram hashtag showcasing the green, the photos at the pixel and pixel XL took, and that has just doubled down on in this version as well. We also have an earth live case that we'll show in a bit, but let's open this box and take a look what's inside so at the top. We have the phone, and that is the larger pixel to Excel made by LG. Furthermore, we'll put that aside for now and take a look. What else is in the box? The papers? There is a sim tool here and a let's get started booklet.

We can put that aside because really nobody's going to read that this is the USB OTG adapter, so you can plug in a regular USB an input here, plug it plug the other end into the USB-C port on the phone and hookup say a flash drive or a USB hard drive. If you want to add a little more storage or access some files, underneath it is the c2c USB cable. This is the same cable that debuted last year in the pixel-by-pixel excel, and it is back here again, and we also have something brand new in the pixel lineup, the illustrious down from $20 to $9, 3.5, millimeter, headphone jack to USB adapter. This allows you to connect a pair of wired headphones into the bottom of the phone and everybody who purchases a pixel to a pixel to Excel will get this right in the box. And if we put this aside, we also get the C USB-C wall adapter as well, so you actually need to use the USB-C end in here to charge it just like last year, so Google is all in on USB-C, but it's all in on phones.

So let's take a look this now, as I said, this is, in my opinion, the better-looking of the two versions of the pixel. This is called the black-and-white model, and you can see here it is. It has an all black front, a white sort of you know. I, don't know five eighths of the back is white and then there's this black strip here, the Panda version with that beautiful orange home-button. Look at that thing, I love it! It's so interesting! You can also see based on the light here, that curved glass that will add a little of distinctiveness to the whole thing.

So, turning on the display you can see, the bezels are not as tiny as Google try to make them out in early preview renders, but they're pretty small, even compared to the Google Pixel, to which I will have in a few days. But here we go. This is the Google Pixel ? booting up for the first time pixel to excel? Rather, you can see the fingerprint sensor on the back that 12.2 megapixel camera dual LED flash USB port at the bottom, no headphone jack, just a microphone port and the SIM slot on the left side, that is it Google logo. Let's take a look at this phone. We will have lots more for you in the coming days and weeks with the pixel to excel subscribe to our channel, to follow all that good stuff like this video.
