Galaxy Z Fold2 5G (mystic black) unboxing and first impressions

Hello everybody it's Brian and in this video I'll, be doing an unboxing of the Samsung Galaxy z4 25g. In addition to bringing you some of my first impressions as I go through the device, I ordered this on Thursday, the 17th, and here it is September the 21st. So it got here pretty quickly. It helps to live just 300 miles from Dallas where this came from. This is the T-Mobile model. I did consider getting the unlocked model, but the eta on that one was a lot worse than this.

This one pretty much shipped right away, whereas the unlocked model was supposedly not going to ship until potentially sometime in mid-October still sealed. So let's go ahead and get into it, obviously an expensive phone. But what really justified this to me was that when I went to Korea last year and ever since then I actually almost walked out of the Samsung store in Korea with the first generation fold kind of had second thoughts, because it wouldn't have worked very well in the US, and I figured that the second model. What we have here today is going to improve in pretty much every aspect which it turns out was indeed the case. The second model, of course, is still very expensive, but after the trade-in of my Galaxy S10, as well as some other discounts, I saved about 500 off the retail price so still extremely expensive, and I even told myself that I wasn't going to be buying a phone this expensive.

Ever again, I would maybe cap my phone budget at 500 every two to three years, but here we are with the z-fold 2. Change the shape of the future I'll put that off to the side. For now, so we can get to the good stuff here might have a couple of accessories. I imagine terms and conditions, cancellation and return policy. I did buy this straight from Samsung, not T-Mobile, even though this is the T-Mobile model.

Also, it is the mystic black color, not the mystic, bronze a little disappointed that the black does not have a matte back like the bronze version, does not sure why they did that some additional features, terms and conditions, and not here we have the sim pokey tool. Here we have the z fold 2 itself, that's definitely got some heft to it compared to my s10, definitely a bit heavier than the s10, but not as heavy as I thought, given some of what individuals have said so far about the z-fold premier service. I'll, look into that later. Here we have a new sim card, the r15 model. There have been some talk recently about the T-Mobile sim cards and that there are some new runs available specifically to better access 5g.

Here we have the charger superfast charging straight up, USB on one end, and in here we have the USB cable itself. It is disappointing that this model doesn't come with any extra, no case no earbuds, so this cable is c to c. It's also disappointing that this is only 256 gigs of storage for the same price. As last year's 512 gig model next up, let's take a closer look at the z-fold 2 itself. There are some care instructions on here.

I will take that off and read it later, because first I'd like to take a closer look at the phone itself, and here we are so the mystic black back is essentially almost a darkened mirror finish. Let me compare that with the Galaxy S10. You can kind of see the difference in color there, since I will eventually get a case for this. I don't think it matters too much. Let's go ahead and fold it up for the first time kind of a satisfying noise when shutting it pretty smooth, though easy to open and close.

So far, all right here we are at the setup screen, I'm not going to go through the steps, but just looking at the screen now. This is just a huge difference and from what I've read so far, everybody who uses the device just says that it's a total game changer in how they use their phone, what they do with it and so on, and while we're still at the screen, I'm going to bring in some other devices to compare with here is the Galaxy S10. Practically the entire phone will fit on the inside screen. So that's pretty impressive. Here we have a galaxy j7, I'm actually going to be using this phone on bike rides.

There's no way, I'm going to be mounting my z, full 2 to my handlebars anytime. Soon again, the entire phone can practically fit on the inside screen. It's a little harder to tell with this phone because of the bezels. Next up is a Samsung Galaxy, s8 again pretty much the right half of the screen, so you can pretty much get double the screen real estate there. Next up, we have an iPhone 6s again.

This one can practically fit on the right side of the screen. You see that the top and bottom bezels on this one are quite large, and here we have a Galaxy Note, 10, plus the largest phone that I have to compare with, and the last comparison I have is actually with the tablet. This is the galaxy a7. I believe a 10.1-inch tablet. The z-fold 2 definitely takes up a pretty good amount of screen space, so some additional first impressions.

I think that the weight is really not that bad, even if you're holding it one-handed. Here's another shot at the back. I've already got my fingerprints all over it, but we can take a look at that front. Cover display real quick, does double tap, not do anything! Oh, it's because it's opened. Let me close it first.

There we go. It is pretty narrow, but I think that if you're using swipe typing, it might be all right very tall, though so, reaching the top of the phone is pretty much going to be impossible. So you can just use the gesture to go into one-handed mode. If you need to get something at the top that cover the inside screen, though that is just beautiful, 120 hertz as well, so that's going to be an upgrade from the 60 hertz on my s10, I will be losing a couple of items, mainly the headphone jack, which I don't even use. So I don't even know why I mentioned that.

One thing I noticed is that the hole punch cutout for the camera actually seems to be very similarly sized to that on my s10. It might be a little smaller, so that'll be an improvement. I kind of lean more towards not having front-facing cameras, because I personally never use them, so I'm probably in the minority. I am planning on making videos of accessories, such as cases and game controllers, I'm not really into mobile gaming. That much, but I think that having a screen, this large is definitely going to change that and that's about it.

With this video, I'm going to go ahead and wrap this up edit. This video and then start setting this thing up. If there are any comments, questions or suggestions about this or anything else feel free to leave everything down below in the comments' area, but that's it with the video. So thanks a lot for watching, and I'll talk to you all in the next one.
