Apple Watch SE Review in 2021 - Should you get it or wait?

What's going on everyone, my name is Aaron, and this channel is dad point 0. So if you follow my channel at all, you know that I review a ton of wearables everything from well-known brands like apple Fitbit, Garmin, all the way down to lesser known brands, or maybe some that you've never heard of, but the one that I keep coming back to every single time is the Apple Watch. Se I've been using it now for a little over six months and I just wanted to come back. I have done a quote-unquote long-term review on this, but I just want to come back a couple of months later. Just tell you what I'm still loving about this and why it's my number, one go-to wearable, how it's held up and the durability and, if you're, considering an Apple Watch right now, I just want to try to help you out whether you're, considering an Apple Watch Series, 3, an Apple Watch, SE a series 6 or if you're wondering if you should just wait, till the fall to see what apple comes out with next. So the reason I keep coming back to the Apple Watch, SE versus all the other wearables that I've reviewed is for a couple of reasons, one being the accuracy of both the activity tracking and the health tracking.

It's truly amazing how accurate they were able to get this, not only just for kind of your daily activity tracking when it comes to steps, calories, burned, standing and those type of things, but also the health sensors. I feel like this heart rate. Monitor is probably one of the best on any wrist based wearable out there, not only at tracking resting heart rate, because most wearables can do that very well, but tracking things like high intensity, workouts. I've compared this to my chest. Heart rate monitor and the recordings are remarkably accurate.

The other thing that I noticed that it's perfect at tracking is my sleep. Now sleep tracking is relatively new to the Apple Watch, so I wasn't expecting much out of it, but I would say on most nights, it's 90 to 95 accurate from the time I went to sleep to the time I woke up and while it doesn't provide the most in-depth sleep analysis like companies like Fitbit, can you still see the stages of sleep that you were in? How long you slept, and you can see what your heart rate did, while you were sleeping, the other nice thing is that the Apple Watch SE gets more and more accurate with the more GPS workouts that I do. For instance, when I first got this, it was in the dead of winter. In Minneapolis I wasn't doing much outdoor running or walking. So when I was tracking my indoor workouts, it was pretty far off from what my treadmill was actually telling me that I was doing but the more I did, GPS workouts.

It started to calibrate itself, and now I find it to be very accurate tracking, not only GPS workouts, but when I do things like strength, training and treadmill running. Another reason I keep coming back to the Apple Watch SE over the other wearables is that I just really love this design now. This is a preference thing, so if you don't love this design, that is just fine. I personally do I don't mind that it has a boxier kind of smartwatch looking design instead of that kind of more traditional circular design. I like that they use the newer design of the Apple Watch Series 4 and later, with the larger display, thinner bezels, a little thinner overall design.

The screen is absolutely gorgeous the OLED display with a thousand it's a brightness. You can see this in any amount of direct sunlight, and I also like that. It's premium feeling it's made out of premium materials, but it doesn't feel heavy. It doesn't feel bulky and a lot of times. I forget that it's even on my wrist and the last and probably most obvious thing is just the iPhone integration that you get with the Apple Watch now 99 of the wearables out.

There are compatible with iOS devices, and you do get some functionality with the iPhone with them. But the added features that you get with the Apple Watch is a big reason why I keep coming back to it. Things like the ability to answer phone calls or FaceTime calls and then transfer them to your phone. If you want the quick replies to messages, tap backs, emoji support, scribbles, or you can even ask Siri to compose a message for you. The camera integration is second to none, there's so many options that you can use with your camera on your phone things like frame and shoot zoom in and zoom out, switch between the iPhone's front and back camera and switch between different camera modes.

You also have a ton of music capabilities, especially if you use Apple Music, you have the Apple Health and activity integrations, find my phone Apple Pay. You can even unlock your other Apple devices with your Apple Watch and none of these by themselves were enough for me to say I would get an Apple Watch over any other device, but all of them together is something you definitely notice over any other brand out there. When it comes to durability, I would say that this Apple Watch SE has held up really well over the last six months now, if you're wearing this all day and every day like, I am wearing it to bed wearing it for workouts you're, going to inevitably bump into things, and I have picked up some light scratches on the screen. Nothing super noticeable until you see it in direct sunlight, the casing has held up extremely well, and it's mostly protective. The sides are exposed, obviously, but the bottom is still in like new condition.

I immediately switched out my band. I had the solo loop when I first got this that caused some irritation to my skin, so I bought one on Amazon, it's kind of a Nike band look-alike and for an eight dollar band. This is held up really well, but everything else works. Great all the sensors, the digital crown, the buttons the speakers- everything still works perfectly six months later, so now I just want to cover my recommendation, because this is probably the number one question I get asked in the comments. Would I recommend the series 3 at so-and-so price point over the SE? Would I recommend the series 6 at a price point, or should I wait for the fall to see what apple comes out with, and this is really going to depend on what you're looking for in your watch? But there are a few things I would like to recommend.

First, I did a comparison with the Apple Watch, SE versus the series 3 a couple of months ago, and I was surprised on how well the series 3 still works in 2021, especially if you're just looking for an entry into the Apple Watch ecosystem. One thing I just want to caution people on, however, is the low amount of storage on the series 3, especially with the new watch OS 7. That update can take a third to almost a half of the eight gigabytes of storage on the series three, and there are a lot of series, three owners that have complained that they aren't able to upgrade because they don't have enough storage. They either have to delete apps, delete, music or completely unpair and restore the series 3 in order to update it. So, while I think the series 3 still works, really well just be mindful that it doesn't have a ton of storage, and you're not going to be able to save a lot of music, apps and other things on there, if you want to continue to download the latest watch OS software when it comes to the series 6, this is going to depend on whether you want those additional features like the always on display the ECG sensor and the blood oxygen sensor, along with a slightly faster s6 processor.

I personally determined that I didn't need those extra features, so I decided to save little money and go with the SE now for some people, it's going to make sense to get those extra features and with the s6 processor you're. Probably looking at a year or two more of software updates and another great thing is that they're starting to sell refurbished series six for a much lower price point, that's going to be really enticing for some people. Lastly, when it comes to the Apple Watch Series 7 that is probably going to be released, this fall there's not a ton of information about. What's going to be new about this, yet there is some talk about added swim tracking features, potentially a glucometer for measuring blood sugar levels, there's also rumors of better battery life on the new Apple Watch coming out. This fall, which I would personally love.

If there's one thing that I don't like about my Apple Watch SE, it's the battery life because it only lasts for me about a day and a half, and if you're trying to track your sleep. That means you have to find random times to try to charge this up, which sometimes missing out on activity tracking throughout the day, so better battery life may be worth holding out for, but make sure you stay tuned for more information on that as we get closer to launch. So I want to wrap up this video and just tell you guys that you know I'm still loving. This Apple Watch SC, it's still my favorite go-to wearable that I use every single day and for those of you considering it, I think it's still a heck of a value. Six months later you get the newest design, a fast processor.

You still get health monitoring. Sensors, like the heart rate, monitor sleep tracking, you get the activity tracking and all the other benefits that come with an Apple Watch at a perfect price point. So if you're interested in it, or you want to buy it I'll, put a link in the description below where you can check it out. Thank you for everyone that watched till the end.
