A leaked promo video shows of some features you can expect to see in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy watch.4 smartwatches. The video posted by Sam mobile on Twitter is only 40 seconds long, but acts as a whistle-stop tour of some of the watch's key software elements. Some of these are predictable. Given the galaxy watch, 4 will use a Samsung tweaked version of Google's Wear OS platform. There are watch face complications, for example. These are modules added to a watch face to plug in extra data.
The video shows a face with little circles displaying the stats for last night's sleep, the wearer's heart rate and the day's activity rings. Another part of the video shows how the activity screen will be laid out as in the galaxy watch.3, the daily activity rings are arranged in a heart shape and three colored lines denote the number of steps. The minutes of activity in the calories burnt, there's also a suggestion. The galaxy watch 4 will have light and dark modes, as some watch faces invert rapidly. Sam mobile actually published two videos they're similar, but one promotes the classic version of the galaxy watch.4, the other. The sporty active version takes a look at both, and you get an idea of some watch faces you can expect.
There are classic analog style faces ones with cutesy cartoon characters whose movements suggest a level of animation as the day wears on and lino cut style. Graphics are polar bears. There's nothing too surprising here, as in any smartwatch watch faces, can be used to alter the personality of the galaxy watch 4 a bit. Both videos also show a body composition screen, which is likely to calculate your body fat percentage rather like a smart scale. This feature was rumored back in June and may be able to use the same core sensor.
Hardware, as the electrocardiogram feature both require a pair of electrodes that analyze changes in electrical signals, though your body, the Samsung Galaxy watch.4, will also no surprise here. Have a compass feature. The videos show an inclined metric on this display, which may be handy for hikers, and finally, we also get a look at the style of the app's menu likely to be used in the watches. It is notably different to the vertical menu of current Wear OS watches, relying on a much more icon, driven approach similar to that of the Apple Watch Series and Huawei's watch 3. While these two videos are consistent with Samsung's style and that of where OS their veracity as official marketing materials cannot be confirmed at this point, and if, as I expect, they are legitimate drafts, these are animated representations of the watcher software, rather than an actual feed from a watch.
Samsung is expected to announce the galaxy watch.4 and galaxy watch 4 active on August 11th at its next unpacked event.
