5 Reasons NOT TO BUY the Pixel 4a 5G

I'm sure by now, you've probably already seen that the Pixel 4a 5g has been making its way into the hands of reviewers here in the US and across the globe. This one showed up for us at our doorstep yesterday afternoon, and we did a quick unboxing to show you what's included in the box and what to expect. When you buy this phone we are planning a full review, camera comparisons and a lot more with our Pixel 4a and upcoming pixel 5 coverage as well. That's the 4a5g! Of course. We already did the 4a. Those names are definitely confusing, but that's besides the point today we're going to be talking about five reasons why you may not want to buy the Pixel 4a 5g now keep in mind.

These aren't necessarily reasons why I would say you might not want to buy them, but if you're considering this device versus a lot of other smartphones within the mid-range category, they are definitely things you should be considering. So with that, let's get to it, as I'm sure you're, probably already aware, when you buy a budget friendly device, something within the two to four hundred dollar range or even five hundred dollars, which is the price point of the Pixel 4a 5g manufacturers do need to make compromises in order to keep that price that low now. For me, the biggest compromise that they've made is not including an official IP dust and water resistance rating on this device, which means it's definitely not recommended taking this into the pool, but you might not even be safe if you get caught in the rain with this smartphone now, some manufacturers have found a way around this. By doing a NATO coating on the internal components of the phone Motorola has done this on quite a few devices, and OnePlus has done it as well, but if you're looking for a device, that's going to be able to take pictures in a swimming pool or just be safe, no matter what conditions you're in the pixel 4 a5g definitely is not that device if you're a fan of wireless charging technology. That's yet another reason why you may not consider buying the Pixel 4a 5g.

Now the technology has been around for about a decade now, and we've seen it in even budget friendly devices going all the way down to 300, and yet manufacturers within the mid-range segment around 500 are still picking and choosing which smartphones have it and which ones don't, and the pixel 4 a5g definitely doesn't, and a bonus on this second item why you might not want to buy this phone is that it only has 18 watt fast charging and in my book that's standard charging these days. I can't remember last time I picked up a smartphone that had slower charging than 18 watts in 2020 we've seen budget friendly devices that are 250 euro that can charge at 35 or even 45 watts, so 18 watt charging is definitely not fast charging in my book now. The third reason why you may not want to buy this phone has to do with the display. The panel itself is an OLED which is perfect for the price point here at 500, but the refresh rate on this display is only 60. Hertz, when we've seen 90 hertz and 120 hertz on a lot of other devices, even within the mid-range segment this year now, the only real reason why this would come into play is if you're, using a smartphone already with a higher refresh rate.

You will definitely notice the difference going from 90, hertz or 120 hertz down to 60 hertz, but if you're using a previous device, that's already running at 60hz, it may not be an issue for you now when anyone talks about the cameras on a Google Pixel smartphone, it's typically within a positive light, and that's because Google's devices take perfect photos thanks to the computational photography, that's built into the camera application on the phone. But as far as the hardware goes, that's definitely a negative for some. On the back of this phone, you only get two camera sensors when most other 500 mid-range smartphones have three, if not four camera sensors on the back. Fortunately, this year you do get a standard and an ultra-wide camera, a 12 megapixel and 16 megapixel sensor paired with each of those cameras, but you're not going to get a zoom camera or a macro camera, something that you typically see at this price point and then for the front-facing camera you're. Looking at a low-resolution 8 megapixel sensor there, when we've seen 12 16 and even 32 megapixel cameras this year that can produce some perfect shots.

Honestly, if Google could upgrade the hardware on its devices, we can imagine that the pictures that its phones could take would be even that much better, and that brings us to the fifth and final reason why you should consider not buying the Pixel 4a 5g, and that's because this one here only has six gigabytes of ram. Now you will recall that last year's pixel 4, which was a flagship to your device, only had six gigabytes of ram, but the performance of that device and its ram management was definitely disappointing compared to all the competition. That's out there, if you love, multitasking and jumping in and out of apps on a regular basis, six gigabytes of ram is definitely gonna, be limiting. That being said, eight gigabytes of ram is probably where you want to be at these days for a really smooth experience. That's not going to be dumping apps from memory every four to five apps that you're going through and that's gonna.

Do it for my five reasons, or just generally five reasons why you should consider not purchasing the pixel, 4a 5g. Of course, everyone's needs when purchasing a new smartphone are completely different when deciding which smartphone they should upgrade to. For some, the camera is going to be a massive priority and then, on the other edge of the spectrum, it could be performance or a display. If any of the reasons that I highlighted in this video resonate with you, let me know what they are in the comments below and if you disagree with anything that I said as well. Thank you guys so much for watching.
