Xperia 5 ii vs Xperia 1 ii - I've made my decision... one month later 🤗

That's it of course, so I'm a Sony fan, but you legendary subscribers, already knew that and Sony released two flagship tier smartphones this year and this video is going to be my honest opinion on how the Xperia 5 mark 2 to the Xperia one mark ii after having actually used both of these devices for a meaningful period of time and at the end of the video I'll, tell you which one I prefer, and I'll also tell you what my dream, Sony, Xperia flagship phone in 2021 would look like based off of my experience with these two formidable phones. So I just want to pause right here to thank the sponsor of today's video piggy head over to join piggy, dot, co, dot UK at the end of this video, to check out what it's all about piggy is a website and Chrome browser extension built to save you time and money and give you cash back next time, you're at the checkout. So I guess Sony threw these two different designs out there to see what people preferred the more chiseled chambered edge on Xperia one mark ii or the more rounded one on the Xperia 5 mark ii.

Now, here's what I think after having used them both I find the rounded edges on the Xperia 5 mach 2 100, more comfortable to hold the chambered edges on the xp1 mark ii. Might look nicer, though, but I have to say I do prefer the curves on the 5 mark 2 when it comes to actually using the device. So really it comes down to comfort versus looks now the elephant in the room, the displays on the xb5 mark ii. We have that full HD 120 hertz OLED panel with HDR and on the Xperia one mark ii. We've got that amazing, 4k HDR, 60 hertz display, which is also an OLED, and I'm going to be really, really real with you guys.

Here. Quite honestly, I barely watched any 4k videos at all on the one mark 2 since I've had it. I usually just watch YouTube videos and what makes it even worse is I watch them in portrait mode, which means I'm not making the most of that 21x9 cinema wide screen. I know it's stupid. Furthermore, I can't even bother to turn my screen sideways, but that's just the way I like to use my phone unfortunately, but what this does mean is that the Xperia one mark ii does have an advantage, not just when it comes to 4k video and having that higher pixel density and everything like that, but also when you're watching in portrait mode, because you got more width thanks to the bigger screen, so that is definitely going to be a win for the Xperia 1 mark 2 when it comes to watching and consuming video content.

Now, on the other side of things, here's a definite win for the Xperia 5 mark ii, the full HD HDR display looks just as bright and just as sharp thanks to his size as the one mark ii, but that 120 hertz when it comes to overall user experience, is a game changer. It really is, and anyone who says otherwise is wrong- is so much smoother and after properly using both of these phones, the Xperia 5 just gives you the impression of being a more well-rounded device. No pun intended now. Here's an area where Sony could change the game when it comes to that 4k HDR panel on the Xperia 1 mark ii, and that would be, if Sony put in the HDMI input onto the side of the device like we see on the Xperia pro. It would make this phone the perfect partner for any Sony, alpha camera and imagine being able to use the Xperia Walmart ii as a monitor for any HDMI device, even a PS5.

Now, let's go back to Xperia 5 mark 2, and it's dedicated Google Assistant button, which isn't present on the one mark ii. Now, I'm not convinced this was completely necessary, but it's definitely a nice to have. But realistically, from my experience using this phone, I barely used it, and on that note I did have some thoughts on the Xperia dedicated buttons. So, during the recent Qualcomm tech summit, kishida-san director of Sony mobile spoke about expanding the prowess of the Xperia devices when it comes to gaming. Gaming is fundamental to Sony's identity.

Now check this out. That camera button is in the perfect place for your right trigger finger, and if this Google Assistant button was slightly more towards the top, it would be in the perfect place for your left trigger finger, which would give the Xperia devices physical buttons to use for gaming stuff like shooters or even racing games. You could use those triggers for your controls and all Sony would need to do is program some software into their game, enhancer to remap those buttons and there you have it one of the best gaming devices on the market. Now, let's talk the camera differences, if we can call them that there is only really one thing: that's very different, and you're looking at it right now that flashing light is actually the Sony 3d eye timer flight sensor working essentially firing out light to gauge the distance and depth in front of the camera. Now look at these two photos side by side, and you tell me what you think just say what you see in the comments below and also, if you're, enjoying this video so far a like and a subscribed would make my day.

So I've been using experience for a long time, and I've discovered a little of a glitch here on the spirit 1 mark ii. That doesn't seem to be present on the five mark. Two so check this out. Now, I'm not sure why this happens, but I'm assuming it's something to do with the always on display and the proximity sensor here at the top of the screen Sony if you're watching this needs looking at anyway, now here's another difference. That doesn't mean a lot to me, but it might be a big deal to you and that's the exclusion of the wireless charging in the 5 mark ii.

From my long term experience using both devices, it's not a dealbreaker for me. I do have wireless chargers around the house, but I don't use them that much it's a nice to have feature. Let me know what you think about wireless charging in the comments below now on to the topic of battery both devices perform well and at present time of this video I've got six hours of screen on time on the sphere, 1 mark 2 and still 25 percent battery left to go and on the 5 mark 2. The screen on time is pretty much similar, even though you've got the higher refresh rate. It's got a smaller screen to power, so it actually kind of balances out.

Both phones have great battery life, and I get to the end of most days with at least 15 percent left. Sometimes I don't even plug it in at night, just charge it in the morning, and I've got enough for the day, so no complaints when it comes to battery now here's another little win for the one mark ii, and it's the sound quality, and I'm pretty sure both devices have the same speaker hardware, but the extra room inside the chassis on experience, one mark ii gives it a bit more resonance, and it sounds like you get slightly more depth in the sound. In my opinion, Dolby Atmos can manipulate individual sounds in 3d. Space to position sounds all around you. Dolby Atmos can manipulate individual sounds in 3d.

Space to position sounds all around you and now on to the side, mount fingerprint readers, I'm pretty sure, they're the same again same hardware, but the spirit 5 mark ii just seems to be a little quicker than the one mark 2. I could be wrong, but from my experience, that's how it feels and here's a slight UI difference. It's the side sense feature. So on the 5 mark ii, we have this visible bar, which makes it much easier to activate the side sense, whereas on the one mark ii we don't have that visible bar and I couldn't find a setting to switch it on either. So, if you're using side sets on one mark, two you're just going to have to use the force.

It's a great little feature, though so, with all things considered now I think I have to lean towards the 5 mark 2 as my choice. But with that said, my perfect Sony phone for 2021 would be a combination of these two devices. So this is what I would go for: a 6.6 inch, 21x9 144 hertz, display with side mounted triggers for gaming. The side mounted HDMI input, the snapdragon 888 with 8 gigabytes of ram and a 5 000 William hour battery, as well as 3d face unlock, so Sony don't have an issue with notches and stuff like that and there's plenty of room at the top of the device for this. I think that would be a great added feature and of course I would expect to see Sony's very best image sensors behind the camera array, but this is an important one.

It must have a better selfie shooter this time and, ideally a better stock camera app. Well, we can all dream can't we. So let me know what your dream specs for your Sony phone would be in the comments below and if you guys have enjoyed this video I'd really appreciate a thumbs up and if you've just subscribed you're now one of the finest subscribers known to man, and I'll see you guys in the next one. We didn't muster many long hours of brainpower.
