Why the Samsung Tab S5e is Better Than the Tab S6 Lite - Indepth Review

So, it was a long journey for me to decide which one should I purchase and keep the Samsung tablet. S5E versus the Samsung Tab s6 vs. the s6 light now I actually went out to Best, Buy and I bought the s5 and the x6, but I ended up returning the s6 and, given that the tab s7 is coming out, it was a really, really difficult decision, but at the end of the day, I obviously chose the Samsung Tab s5e in this video I'm going to explain why I chose this amongst all the other options out there before we get into that, I want to explain why I actually got a tablet in 2020. I always thought that tablets have lost their appeal since the early 2000s ever since that our phones got a lot bigger, ranging around 6.2 inches to 7 inches. Almost I was a huge fan of tablet growing up as a teenager, and obviously I love tablets, but eventually they lost our novelty and became rather pointless in my life, but life before March 23rd 2020 was very different. We were outdoors more doing things not staying at home as much.

What ended up happening was that I really needed a tablet during this quarantine. The lockdown was awful. I've never been at home this much in my life now, typically when I'm at home I'm using the phone to watch short video clips, while I'm doing mundane tasks or when I'm eating, and I found that watching video clips a lot on my phone was really annoying on such a small screen. Maybe my eyesight is getting worse with old age, but watching anything on a small screen is not very enjoyable and navigating the YouTube app on such a small display is so cumbersome, especially when you have it in landscape mode. That app YouTube is almost unusable, terrible design and landscape mode, especially for tall vertical phones.

That's the issue of these phones. Everything is getting super tall and all the specs are showing six point. Two inches six point: nine inches! Yes, the vertical distance has increased a lot. However, on the horizontal axis, the screen is super skinny to accommodate being able to hold it with one hand. I also like to use my tablet as a recipe display and using a phone was extremely annoying and lastly, because of the pandemic that we're facing using my phone outdoors, I really didn't want to touch my phone as many indoors, so I really needed to get a tablet before I explained all the decisions I've made I want to clarify some conditions.

The first thing is that, if you're a hardcore gamer, you most definitely want to pay the extra premium for the tablet s6 and also, if you need the s-pen support to do like artistic drawings, or you prefer to draw handwritten notes for whatever reason, then you definitely want to get the s6 or the s6 light. So the reason why you might have opened this video interment you might have this question- is: should I pay the extra premium for the tab s6 or should I go for the e essential versions like the s5 II, which is considered the budget model I personally had a very difficult time deciding between the three devices. However, it was very easy to eliminate the s6 light, because I had a terrible screen. It was a downgrade from the s5 II, and it also uses the proprietary processor, the Enos processor, from Samsung, which has a terrible reputation in terms of battery performance and everything else. Just look into all the articles about the Enos processor for the latest flagship phone, the s20 on how it bit Snapdragon versus the Enos version, it's just completely night and day difference.

Moreover, with the s6 light, it had nearly the same price as the s5 II and according to many reviews, the tab as 5e performs a lot better in 3d gaming than the s6 light. So everything was a downgrade except for the s-pen. So if you really need the s-pen, and you want a budget model, obviously yet the s6 light very easy decision. Now, the difference between the s6 and the s5 II is a little more tricky. After using my flagship phone, the Samsung s xx I've been very accustomed to the latest processor, the Snapdragon 865, which has no delay no lag when opening apps and the crazy amount of memory that comes with it.12 gigs of ram is absolutely amazing. Basically, all my apps never closed.

They're. Always open I'm able to have so many concurrent apps open all the time now, with the s5 e you're going to get only 4 gigs of ram in the base model, and you're going to have a mid-range Snapdragon processor, which, according to benchmarks, is half the performance of the s6. Now benchmarks are very synthetic, and they're, obviously a scientific experiment: how does it actually compare to day actual use in terms of the performance? Well, I'm going to get to that question a little later now, the first major con with the tab s6, even though it's an amazing tablet and I really liked it well for the time I had it was that the price was extremely expensive. Considering that the s5 II had the same four factors and a little lighter, say, AMOLED display same speakers, so you're getting a lot. You already get so much of the s5e, but with it's half s6, you pay two hundred dollars more for what so, essentially the temp s5e and the s6 are very similar, except paying for the s6 for two hundred dollars.

More you're going to give an S Pen you're going to get more base memory. You get two extra gigs of ram, and you're going to get more space. So that's not a huge deal because you can have an SD card, and you get an extra ultra wide-angle and if you really need it, but I never really needed you get the ability to attach some keyboard cover to it, which is cool. Other bonuses include the better fingerprint scanner which is in display, so it's a more natural lower position instead of the top side Mountain, which is a little more difficult to reach at times and I also found that face unlocks, probably due to the processor. It opens a lot faster on the tab s6 now for bringing personally the tap for the tab.

S6, the S Pen is completely pointless and the extra the keyboard attachment the ability to attach a keyboard and the camera was also very pointless to me. Now all these things might be a matter of personal preference, and it's very subjective. However, I found that the S Pen was extremely pointless because I never took notes, I find taking notes with the S Pen completely backwards. You might as well just type it in encoded in text right away. It's a lot easier or voice dictate and obviously, if you're into art, maybe the S Pen is very helpful, but I just found taking notes with the S Pen, totally kind of like a novelty.

It's not really fun at all, and it's totally pointless in my day-to-day life. Now, what's really terrible about the s-pen, it was the implementation and how you mounted on the back of the tab. So what you do is that you have to have it on the back, and it's loosely connected with magnets and I found yeah sure. Maybe it sticks on, but over time it's gonna fall out, and it got so annoying to have that stupid pen on the back of the tablet. It was just the worst experience ever, so I was like ok, you know what let me take this pen out and let me put it aside, so maybe I can use it.

Another time, but guess what you need to have it attached to the back of the tablet for it to be fully charged. So what ended up happening was that when I wanted to use my s-pen, which was not connected to the tab, s6, it was out of battery, so I couldn't even use it. So this is a terrible, terrible design, and it could be saved if you have a case, and maybe it's going to be more secure having it locked into the back of the case, but the s-pen was just more of a hint hindrance than anything else, so it was. Why am I paying more money for this s-pen now for the extra ultra-white camera on the tab? S6 I also find that very pointless. How often are you to be using these cameras other than maybe to take picture of a receipt or take picture every check which the normal wide-angle camera lens does find on the s5 II, so having that extra camera was not worth the money now, the two things that is actually worth a lot of money is the extra memory I'm talking about Ram and the actual faster CPU.

Those are the two upgrades that I really like compared to the attack as 5yi I do notice a little slight difference in the performance, given the limited Ram on the s5 II compared to the s6 apps do close, sometimes quite often, and you have to reopen, which obviously introduces a lag, so that can be very annoying for people who are very impatient also having the fast processor on the s6 really does improve the performance and the snappiness of the device. So that's something that you'll have to sacrifice in the s5 II. Now to answer your question using the s5 II, its performance is still totally fine, obviously I'm spoiled with the s20 and given all its memory in the fast CPU. However, I still find it more than tolerable to use the tab as 5e. So like the tab as 6.

The s5 II has a lot of amazing features and the first one is the display. It's an amazing, beautiful, large 10 inch AMOLED display and that's something that I really value and that's something that you're not gonna, get in the s6 light. On top of that, you have quad speakers, which you don't get in the s6 light, so you get the same speaker and simply the same displays performance as the tab s6 at a much cheaper price like the tab s6. The tab. S5E has an amazing battery life, especially when standby.

Now back in the day when I actually bought the Galaxy Tab s2 I returned it four times, because I thought it was a defective unit. Every time I would leave it overnight. The battery would drain so fast on the Galaxy Tab s2, which is like the second generation of the S series for tablets. Now, if the s5 II and the s6 battery life is so good, it's comparable to iPad iPads always had the best batteries and finally, Samsung has nailed the battery life on the s5 in the s6 series. Another amazing feature is that you're able to connect your tablet to your phone, such that you receive and can make phone calls and receive SMS text messages between the two devices.

This basically means you get an extra phone in your house, and this can be super convenient, especially when you're home all the time, and the last feature that I want to talk about for the tab. S5E is that you can actually put this index mode. That basically gives you a desktop experience from a tablet, and it runs pretty well and what's really cool is, if you have a TV with a Chromecast, you can actually stream the DEX experience to your Chromecast TV and after that dim your screen connects a keyboard and a mouse, and you essentially have a full test of experience using the Chromecast and your little tablet. There's so many good features about the Tab s5e I can't go through all of them, but that's just my list of features right now that I want to talk about all the positive aspects of this device. However, there are several cons to this device and obviously the one.

The first one is the performance given the lack of memory and only four gigs of ram and this lower mid-range, Snapdragon, CPU, you'll notice, slowdowns. And it's you know it's not enough to distract you from using the overall experience, but it's not going to be as snappy as a s6. Now I'm very impatient, like I, said before many times in the previous of this video in the beginning of this video, and I'm still able to tolerate it. So it really depends on how much you can tolerate a little of lag when opening apps. So those are the two major cons, obviously the lack of memory and the CPU performance, but there are some other minor cons.

The first one is that there is a very noticeable jello effect when you hold the device in portrait mode and based on my experience. I noticed this more on the s5 II than the s6, so maybe they fixed it in the s6. But what happens is that, given that it's an AMOLED, it does display in the way it kind of IRI fresher the image, if you hold it in portrait mode, there's going to be a jello effect, everything that's gonna kind of like bend. So you swipe up and down on text on a webpage. You're gonna notice, like a little bent at first I, was like kind of depressed about this, but then I got used to it, I'm like whatever.

If you don't scroll so fast on a page, you don't really notice it. So there is a jello effect, and apparently it affects all devices. If you hold it in landscape, you don't get this effect, and I'm kind of upset about that, because I much prefer to use my device. My tablet in portrait mode rather than landscape and for some reason the Samsung engineers had favored Blocky mode. Some other people have reported that the Wi-Fi cuts out, if you hold it on landscape based on some position, I've honestly, first, I, don't really use it in landscape mode, especially when I'm a holding it I find it very awkward, but this is basically not an issue for me at all.

So for those who are worried about it, I wouldn't really worry about it. Some of the other things that kind of annoy me with the tab s5e coming from the s6, was the face unlock the face unlock on the tab. S5E is absolutely terrible. It is slow. Sometimes it doesn't even recognize my face.

In contrast, the Samsung tab, s6 was extremely fast and never missed my face, what's worse, is that the fingerprint sensor is really hard to reach, especially if you don't have a case for my use. I would always miss the self. The fingerprint sensor is kind of hard to locate it. So I got the case. I got this new case, which I did a full review, the sign, tough armored case, and that has really improved the fingerprint sensitive experience, so I definitely recommend having a case, it's basically essential to have a physical groove to get an accurate fingerprint sensor.

Every time you want to use it with the more premium tab. F6 I had zero issues with the optical fingerprint sensor, which is very reliable and also very accurate and I. Much prefer the natural positioning of that fingerprint sensor. My last minor nitpick with the tab s5e, is that if you hold it in portrait mode, you might cover the bottom right microphone hole and when ends up happening is let's say you want to voice dictate because you don't want to type on such a weird keyboard, because it's a larger screen, it's not as comfortable as a phone, for example, or you want to talk to a Google Assistant, you might actually block it from actually receiving any sound at all. Now what I actually did to fix? This is use a case and the case would actually get create an air gap.

So you, even if you cover the hole on the case, the microphone hole, it would still receive that the voice, and you were able to dictate no problem, so I definitely recommend having any case in general. Now in terms of the cameras between the s6 and the s5, II I have to say they're about the same, except of course you get the extra ultra-wide camera on the tab, s6, which is absolutely pointless and there's absolutely no need if you have a decent camera phone on, you'll never be using the cameras, except for video conferencing, which is the front facing camera. Here's a comparison comparing the wide and the ultra-wide camera on the tab. S6, as you can tell the ultra-wide camera, looks absolutely terrible. It's very grainy doesn't capture very low light, while the wide-angle can which the normal rear lens looks absolutely amazing.

It captures HDR very well. If you look at the backlight, it's doing a very good job. Now, of course, I have zoomed in a little in the ultra-wide just to give it a closer comparison. Now, here's that photo, but comparing the s6 vs. the s5 II, as you can tell the s6, is doing a lot better in terms of processing the image, even though they have technical on the same spec sheets.

They have the same cameras on the front and back of course, except for the rear, ultra-wide camera, so I'm a little confused as to why the performance on the s6 is so much better than the s5 II. Perhaps there's a mistake on GSM arena or perhaps has to do with the CPU and the processing power of the images. However, as you can tell, on the left side, the s5 II does perform pretty decently in video, so I'm testing the Samsung Tab s 6 and right now, I'm speaking just into the front-facing camera, and I'm recording indoors and ok, so I'm going to be doing the same test. I'm going to be filming with the fun facing camera on this. What do you guys think of the video quality and the sound quality of the Samsung tablet? S6 Samsung s5 II and, as you can tell I'm, just trying to match the same situation here, and I'm filming at 1080p resolution, not at 4k.

Now, let's compare it with the Samsung s5 II, so right now, I'm using the rear main sensor on the Samsung Tab s 6. Let's compare this to the other tablet s5e. So now, I am testing the rear camera the rear sensor, which is the higher quality sensor on the Samsung 10 s by E, and we'll get a comparison of how the rear sensor, which is the main shooter that you need to be using for most pictures, how it looks and how it sounds when you're just kind of filming indoors, oh just to say about the front-facing camera, it's not bad. It's pretty good! It's comparable to any laptop, and I've been using it for a Zoom calls, and it's quite convenient to have this device as a video streaming device. Huh, income in conjunction with my desktop computer and by the way, while we're nitpicking about the attempt as 5e, they included a dongle that doesn't have a headphone jack.

So you have to use the dongle in order to connect a wired headset to the device. However, that dongle is passive. It's a really cheap dongle it does. It doesn't actually work on my Samsung s, 20 phones, so what I quickly recommend is to buy the Google Pixel dongle, which is on their website, and that is an amazing jungle. Furthermore, it has no noise has no static, don't buy the cheap ones.

Amazon save your money and buy quality, active headphone, dongle, and you'll. Save a lot of money in long-term, and you'll have much better sound quality without any static noise. In the background, so overall I have to say the tab. S5E is a fantastic media device and I love having the large screen. I put all my widgets, my email, all like all these cool dashboards and the weather, and it's fast enough honestly, it's comparing a Porsche ?, maybe just a regular car.

It's um, it's gonna still get you to what you want to do it's more than usable, but it's not gonna, be as fast as the latest flagship as 20, or they may be the new tab as 7 or the s6. Obviously, because they're using much faster processors and don't get me wrong, I still think the tab. S6 is an amazing device. I really loved it, but I just can't justify paying the extra $200 for only 2 things. That really matter to me, which is the CPU and the memory.

Obviously, the performance is very important, but all there's other features like the s-pen and the extra camera I felt like I was paying extra money for something that I don't use it all, and I felt wasteful and also the s-pen implementation is terrible. There was more of a cumbersome experience than anything else. At the other day, I really wished that Samsung would just create the s5e with a supercharged CPU and of course you can upgrade from the base model to the 6 gigs of RAM. So you pay a little more. Maybe that's something that you would rather do is pay.

The extra money to get more RAM so that apps stay open more often in the background, so it appears to be faster. So what do you guys think at the end, the day, I'm just very happy on my tablet? Let me know if you're going to be investing in a tablet, especially during the lockdown measures staying in a home. It's definitely entertaining I, really like being able to watch movies while I'm eating on my table and just have it anywhere. I go just having a bigger screen has been more than helpful when staying at home all the time, and also, let me know if you think it's worth paying the extra money for the s6, or you're going to hold out for the tab. S7, which is obviously going to use the latest Snapdragon 805, processor and I also have one last question between for you.

Folks. Is there any way for me to sink this? The dismissal of notifications on my phone and on my tablet, what ends up happening is I. Let's say Facebook Messenger sends me a push notification on my phone, which is a Samsung S 20, and also you get the notification on your tablet. If I just might, if I swipe away on one of the devices I wanted to disciple way on the other device, I kind of want to synchronize the dismissal of a lot of vacations, so I've been kind of struggling with this. If this is something that you've been experiencing, and you solved please let me know in the comments down below also, if you get to be getting the Tab s5e I've made a full video review of my favorite case.

The sign kickstand case so definitely check out that video, if you want to invest in a very good case with a kickstand I'm gonna, leave a link but the home below in the comment section thanks for watching this, video I really hope you appreciate it. Please do give it like. It really helps other channel and leave a comment. I'll see you in the next video.
