Watch Samsung's Galaxy Note 10 live event

Hello, welcome to seeing that live here from the CNET studios in San, Francisco alarms going off everywhere. We're just so excited to talk all things: Galaxy, Note 10, my name is Lexie. Kavita's I will introduce you to the rest of our esteemed panel shortly, but we will be chatting note 10 for about thirty minutes ahead of the actual announcement which is happening at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, so that's happening at 1 p. m. Pacific, 4:00 p. m.

Eastern, so we're going to bring that to you live up until then, though, we're going to chat, all things rumors and, of course we do want to hear your thoughts as well on these CNET live hashtag on Twitter. If you have any questions for us or any thoughts things that you want to see from the new notes or anything else, Samsung you can hit us up. There say hello to our wonderful panel sitting across from me. Is the esteemed Mr. Patrick Holland greetings and salutations I.

Don't know why I did the British accent. It's good excited. I got excited fancy event. Today it is fancy I'm feeling fancy, and we have the wonderful Vanessa hand. Briana sitting across here keeping up with the accent, your Flair and, of course we have the man with a magic behind the decks.

Mr. Stephen Beech am good morning or afternoon, or whatever time oh I, like the sound effect I feel like it's gonna, be that kind of vibe can I just say how weird this is not to be woken up very early in the morning to do this, because it's now 12:30 in the afternoon in San Francisco, and it's just freaking, weird and Stephen. You pointed it out, but this is the first time I think that I've actually gotten a decent night's sleep before an event like this. So you feel refreshed and ready to talk all things. Galaxy I mean I, don't even go that far, but it's just a very, very weird timing.

For this event, it is what's with the 1:00 p. m. call I, don't know, but I think the weather might be playing against them. So if we've had some we've seen some tweets from our crew, that is in line or waiting to get into the Barclays Center to see the announcement. And apparently it's raining.

There are thunderstorms. Projected for New York, City and Brooklyn, so it's going to be a wet one out there, and it doesn't look. It doesn't look too exciting, so maybe they should have done it in the morning. Maybe could have Samsung unpacked Samsung umbrella, Oh, dad joke so to my left over here. Is this more too bad you anyway, anyway? Let's, let's get to the mate of this.

This is all about the Galaxy Note 10 I feel like every time we have a Samsung event literally the night before or the morning of we have the entire thing leaked, and this time is no exception. So shall we run through the leaks and what we are expecting today, just in case you haven't seen them so breakdown essentially, is that there might be a note, 10 and a Galaxy Note 10, two sizes, two different sizes, which will be the first time that Samsung's broken up the note, which is their flagship product, and now they're, making two versions of it, which is interesting. So maybe the note 10 is going to be well. It sounds like it from the name. The note 10 plus is going to be.

Obviously the larger screen variants, probably six point eight inches and the note 10 is six point three. But what are our thoughts on breaking up an already expensive phone into two separate screen sizes and lines? Is there enough demand there to make that call? Do you think I mean? Obviously they can prove me wrong, but I don't know what the deal? What the idea is with this, because they already had, I mean they already have the S 10 and the S 10 plus. The note was supposed to be the breakout already for people who wanted the pro users per se. Who wanted the note and the stylus experience. So it already seemed like the note, was the breakout phone and even if you, even if you wanted another size, you could get the S 10 or the s10 plus.

So the fact that it was the note to me was standalone. So maybe, but maybe who knows, maybe it's gotten big enough literally, that they can now split it in two I beg to be proved wrong. We'll see well in splitting two interesting things: because. You also have that little phone called the Galaxy fold which we're gonna talk about pretend I own a store called the Samsung store, Patrick Samson story, Patrick Samsung I come in, and you want to. Let's say you got 550 500 600 get you again see.

Okay, know that we'll get you a galaxy as tinny right now like. That is how much there's on the galaxy s 10 II is 550 dollars right. If you go up a couple of hundred get the Galaxy S ten go up. Another hundred fifty 10 plus you go up another 150. You go to the rumored price for the Galaxy, Note, 10, and I'm, guessing maybe another hundred 150.

We get you, that's so basically and then add another thousand for the fold not even know you'd be about four or five hundred hours away from a fold double that and its crazy, especially if you start like maximizing this out. So it's interesting because. You can just see the hierarchy of the retail ladder there. I, don't know what that means. For my wallet except I, probably won't pay at the high end, but yeah I, don't know it's gonna, be exciting, I'm, just genuinely interested, because there's so many choices now, and I feel like Samsung has traditionally had a little more of a streamlined, Galaxy lineup, and now it's kind of exploding out so much that making the choice is it just going to be down to price, because the note 10 plus is going to have to have a lot more features and a lot more to entice you to spend potentially what you know 200? What was it in your scenario? 200, 300 hundred fifty right, yeah, all right, so it's going to have to have something pretty seriously good about it.

Wait I got it, though, what it for what is know? What, if you added some extra cameras, a little stylus thing, get rid of some bezels and maybe some other things pull up pizzazz paint on the back man. We got ourselves, you know, but then a white, but don't I, put out a note if you're gonna not include all these things that are to begin with, let's just put them on the flagship and then call it a day. I, don't know what was Patrick and I differ in this way. I know we just so we don't work for Samsung, I, don't know, but I think it's exciting, because one thing that notes have traditionally honest is a lot of new techs that we're gonna, see adopted or new form factors that might get like slammed or altered for the next, like Galaxy, S, 10 or X 11 I guess, so that could be interesting too. But I don't know it's neat, because this one is like the sports utility of Samsung's products.

It has everything: he'll have the biggest battery the biggest screen, the stylus, and all this and supposedly maybe the cameras, might be better ?, which is always exciting for us. I do want to talk about the cameras in a minute, but I do want to go back to some of those leaks and take a look at what the front is. Gonna look like so you know almost edge to edge well, it is edge to edge, but like that infinity display, it looks like the notch, which is the front-facing. Camera, is a tiny little front-facing camera, but it's in the center of the phone now, rather than on the s 10 and s 10 plus, which was off to the side. Do you remember all of those you know fun wallpapers, that people had they made fun of the little? Oh, they just played with the positioning of it.

Do you have one right there well yeah, it's that it's a Samsung actually launched one of the smallest front facing cameras not on its own phone on an another Android phone earlier this year? So what if that's the actual same camera, MMM kind of gives like it a little like belly button like upside down? What about the stylus, though? So this is obviously the biggest reason why people buy the north and the battery and the battery and obviously such a large screen real estate. But if you, if you want a stylus, the note is the phone that you're probably going to get and like for the note 9, especially there wasn't too much whiz-bang stuff about the stylus that made it exciting, at least something to attract people who weren't necessarily note devotees over to a stylus, at least for me, I, never see the point of a stylus really and the note 9 didn't convince me. The note 10 is supposed to have gestures. That's the rumor is that enough to make people attracted to a stylus who aren't there or is it just for people that are going to upgrade from then dates I was gonna, say note 7, but we know that what that's not a man yet, so hopefully you're not using me, can't have a show without referencing the note 7 as soon as it is and putting as much battery is it and that's, hopefully, they've mastered that process and that design because. Obviously that was an ambition they had a few years ago, and it didn't go so well, but I will see.

We don't know that stuff until it comes out, but come back to the stylus I think it is interesting because there are times when you at least I have a when the note 9 came out last year play with it. You're like this is fun, it's fun to take the little selfie photos and trigger the camera. But besides this like trying it out, I never really used it. I don't know. Maybe it could be a microphone or something, or I don't know.

But you know it's like the air pods. You can actually use them to put your phone in the table, and it could help with someone's hearing and what, if we could do that with I put the stylus and mill table, and it can, if you have your Galaxy Buds, and it makes them sound like you can hear, what's going on the synergies there, but yeah so to answer your question. I think people who are into the note are already into the stylus I. Don't think this will be the phone to convince you to use a stylus, maybe, but what really like? Aside from these interesting spy scenarios, I'm not sure that there's a lot that the stylus can do that it's not already possible right and that's the things I would say like okay, so back in the day before they said, I had a palm tree. Oh, and I love the damn stylus, oh, but you needed the style.

If you want to check the weather it took like for stylus moves, if you did it with your finger to collect ten moves, you know, but yeah I think that I don't know like sketching and stuff and doodling I don't know. But the people who are into the note are into the note: yeah I live in the stylus life as yeah, and maybe this is the thing we perhaps and not this the note audience. Maybe I love the idea of it and I. Just don't think. I've had a note, yet that has made me want to use it as my primary device.

So I hope that this one changes it, and I'm really optimistic about it. I, don't I know it sounds like we're going wow. It's not gonna, be great, but I genuinely want this phone to convince me that the note line has matured. It has reached a point where it is truly the Samsung flagship that I want because the foals you know we there's been a lot of problems there. Obviously we don't I, don't want to spend $2,000 on a phone just yet anyway, I'm not on that phone for sure right, but I think Lexie and I.

Think to your point I from if the leaks are true. I think this might be the biggest break through of the note that we've seen thus far because, as you said, it's always a continuation of the S whatever that year, it was, and this time it really kind of based on the leaks, and I'm hoping their true, it seems to be kind of its own thing. Now it has a lot of changes that we didn't see on the s on the galaxy s 10 that III mean yeah. We see incremental changes every year on the note that the galaxy had already introduced, but this time around I feel like there's actual new features on the note that the Galaxy S 10 won't be able to give. Therefore, it might be the first year when I'm actually interested in a note and not a s10 and because the screen size is so much rumored to be so much bigger.

You know that it may actually prove to be a totally different device and some way where Samsung has always done really well is the screens. Okay, so I hear the rumblings. We have live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, with the rain we have Share chicken who is on the floor, hi, hi Share. Can you hear me come in, Share can hear ya? ? I can hear you it's so loud here, I, don't know. If you guys can hear me it sounds.

It sounds crazy in there give us a little of a lay of the land what's happening in that room yeah. They haven't set up a lot like last year, so there's kind of a big stage down I, don't know, maybe we're Center, Cortez I, don't know, and they have all the media we're sitting down below. It's really just they're still having people file in this will start at 4:00 Eastern Time. So it's really just still tons of people just streaming into the event. Okay, and how is the rain situation outside I know? It was getting a little sketchy for a moment there.

Oh, it's definitely rained. It was uh yeah. We probably stood in the rain for I, don't know 15 20 minutes, which is great, I'm, glad I'm, glad you're dry and inside but Shari you are our Samsung reporter, and you've been following Samsung for many years now. I would love to know from your perspective. What do you think Samsung needs to do to keep people interested in the note line, and especially seeing is a lot of those potential customers, maybe we're interested in the fold and then that's been delayed? Are we going to hear anything from them about that? Yeah, I mean I.

I would be surprised if they really spend much time at all on the fold. You know this is really the note event. They don't really want to overshadow their new device. The note has always been the device for their power users, the people who want the giant screen. They want the stylus.

They told us that in the U. S.90 percent of Note users actively are using the s-pen. So that's kind of the huge thing that differentiates the note line from the Galaxy S line. You know I think it's getting a lot harder for them to differentiate, but I think you know based on rumors. What we could see is you know, then again stepping forward with screen size.

You know doing other things to you know, make the s-pen more useful, we're also I'm just kind of in a weird time, because 5g is coming out. So you know we expect that there will be some talk of 5g, but it's really next year, when devices have kind of the full 5g capabilities able to access tap into a bunch of different networks. So you know for a lot of people. If you want a device you're going to be holding on to, for you know three years, it's kind of average. Now, if you might be waiting until next year, sure it's real quick, a few things, one I love the David Lynch inspired shot.

You have in the back lighting, it's really awesome, but it's really cool I think we just stick with it, but next as I say um. What do you think about? They think we're going to hear anything about the Galaxy fold. I mean I, don't think we're going to hear anything about the Galaxy fold here really I mean besides just like. Maybe I mentioned that it's you know that they fix it. You know this is really gonna focus on the notes.

This isn't this isn't a fold event. This is this. Is their Note event, I mean I could always be wrong. Samsung always says surprises. They always do things that I, don't necessarily expect, but you know I think they're going to try to keep this one kind of focused.

You know in terms of phones anyway and sharia. Have you seen any inkling of any sort of surprises or edit anything extra? Apart from the note that maybe Samsung might be throwing in today, I don't know if there's some video that's been on the screen? Well, no. The videos that I've seen so far I've actually been Galaxy. S 10, it hasn't been kind of no preview outside their billboards, were all focused on the note 10. You know there were some leaks.

Some like weaker sites have said that there could be new computers, or things like that. So we'll have to see if they actually do something like that they very well. Could they also you know? There's another big mobile trade or an electronics trade show coming up in Berlin, it's the first week of September, so we could also see new other devices there as well less likely to be mobile, but you know I think this is gonna, be very focused. You know mostly focused on the note, but we'll see what else they can do have anything else. All right sounds good thanks, Share enjoys the event, and we'll check in with you a little later bye-bye.

Okay so now she thinks. There's no mention of the fold. That's going to happen. I, just I mean I, agree. I would be surprised if they made a big to-do about it.

They just want to probably just get the phone out as soon as possible and do not want to draw too much attention to it, but I really I just want to hear more I. Think if that we don't hear about the full today, it's because it's bad yeah obviously do you think I think, because if is they had good news, I feel like they would share it see them doing something very simple: I can see them too, so we know that they came out and said: hey. We worked on it, reinforced it yeah did these fixes. We also said we're going to launch it sometime in September, so I think if they did do it like a tip of the hat to the fold, it'd just be like hey. This is when it's good all right, but if we don't hear about to bury it and then later on, they're sent a press release that says: we've candid, no I, have faith I.

Think it's I think it's going to happen as always: we'd love to hear your questions, your expectations. What you want to see from the new note or anything else, Samsung has announced today on the CNET live hashtag on Twitter. Just leave us a comment, and we'll check in periodically with that to the event itself is gonna start in about 12 minutes time, and we will cross live to the stream as soon as it starts. But what about other things that Samsung has up its sleeve that we haven't seen, yet I'm intrigued by do you remember last year? At this very event, the note 9 unveil I think it was where they were like here's, the Galaxy home or the big sneaker, and there were all those memes of what it looks like that weird kind of spaceship the Ask design, with those three prongs coming out of the bottom and ever since then, we've just had it's going to come out in February, it's going to come out in April, it's going to come out. Who knows so it's been a year.

I think we're over. Do something right, no I'm, good, good I, don't need another smart home speaker, even if it's a Samsung one, especially not a big speed, one I'm. So sorry, but I am good. Just I'm good I think we were gonna, hear it whether you like it I, think you're, probably gonna, hear something about Bixby, even if it doesn't relate to the speaker, but I think you'd have to navigate that really. Well, if they're not bringing up the speaker and forget this folding thing, we promise just focus right here.

You know, keep it on the note, but I don't know. I know they've rolled out some improvements to the actual software that is Bixby assistant right. It's still not like a Google Assistant or Alexa, and definitely like well series kind of its own thing series on her his or her whatever he wants to be yeah. But that being said, yeah they have to they're gonna talk about Bixby, but something she said sure I said was 5g, and then it's still really new, and I get the good fortune, maybe about two months ago to have got my hands on a Galaxy, S, 10, 5g, phone and I did take lots of the pictures I wasn't supposed to. But that being said, I got to go to Warner Brothers.

They had 5g millimeter wave on there, and it was just dynamite to see how fast it was the low latency of it. Video games all this stuff, but then they took it away and even if I had the phone and walked outside the park, it probably would this be on 4G right. So I'm wondering do you think the Galaxy Note tens going to have 5g and if so, is it going to be like a 5g version? That's like the bigger one or is it going to be like his function, needs lots of battery life right drains your battery really fast. How much drain did you get like, probably within a couple of hours and went from like about 92% down to 68 Wow, but okay, but you were thrashing it exactly, and it drops back to 4G for stuff like uploads because? That's all phones do that right now, that's nothing peculiar, but it also drops back to 40 we're not needing 5g right. So it's kind of smart like that.

But the note is the big one. It's a Swiss Army knife is the Range Rover of their lineup I. Don't think I'll have a tooth pick, but I do think we're going to have a 5z1 right, I agree with you I. Would it doesn't make any sense for Samsung not to announce a 5g variant, especially that we have the s10 5g right, whether it becomes a standalone model that is on top, so we have effectively three or two phones with a 5g version remains to be seen. But, as you said, we already know that they have made Skype totally breakout phones, so I wouldn't be surprised if we saw the third 5g variant of the note, 10 and probably the + right, another hundred dollars to add that to your list of probably more because the Galaxy S 10-15, lesser prices, change recently was about $1,300 right yeah, it's a pretty significant jump from whatever $1,000.

What's pricey yeah, and it's a difference, it has like an extra camera. It's got a like a little different body design slightly, but I would argue that if you're spending that much money already on a phone, you want your phone to be future-proof. So you don't want to have to be upgrading next year or the following year to the 5g version of whatever phone you just bought, because this is a hefty investment and if you're going all-in on the note larger note, whatever we're calling it, then you might as well go all in and get the 5d version, even if you're not gonna, use it right now, because it's just future proofing and I think it would be smart for something to do. That that's true, and you consider like a lot of people, are hanging onto their phones, they're, not upgrading every year they are holding on for two to three years, at least, so it makes sense, you're right, and you just pay the initial upfront and just have it future proofed. But for us people who are not rich, like Vanessa I, think it's also, let's just be clear to even they did announce a 5g note or a variation.

That's 5 v, it's still probably even I, think more needs than some like the galaxy fold would be because it's just not everywhere- and the places v here is- is very rough. It's spotty when it's working its great, but it's just not there yet, and it would be hard to recommend it, even if it was a fantastic phone. But if you are an early adopter, and you live on those four blocks of Chicago that has that different location, the actual idea it does expand it out. It's really been interesting watching that, but one of the things I got called out for that. I got a call now calling you out for because I was kind of ignorant on this subject, but here in the U.

S.5g slowed for to roll out, but in other parts of the world, 5g is thriving, so and Samsung is definitely a global brand. So I think you know them launching a 5g is not just for the US market. I mean it's: maybe there it's actually a secondary market when you consider the amount of other countries that now have more robust 5g set up actually and they when they launched the Galaxy S 10-15, launched in Korea a couple of months before it was sold in the US so yeah there is definitely a different image, better infrastructure or whatever. That is the 5g race, which doesn't make sense for a lot of reasons. But the fact is that there is 5g popping up in other countries, so that could be that audience.

But you also have to wonder: are those countries willing to pay that price too? Probably Americans ourselves? Well, yeah I mean that's the thing different markets can tolerate different prices, even though the note is a premium device. It could obviously you know they price it towards the market and what the market will tolerate. So, while it's might seem exorbitant to us here, maybe other markets, it makes sense at that price. However, they're going to price it, but I want to talk about colors because. Briefly, just briefly and then I want to chat about the cameras, so you have yep us here.

We have to talk about the camera. Okay, so one of the leaked colors is this kind of gradient shiny option. That looks a little like you know. Holographic finish, it reminds me a lot of a certain phone probe shall be written yeah. Well, you named it.

We shall remain nameless, but very, very similar in the u. s. What don't get it in the US through Amazon is legal to buy the phone? There's nothing illegal about it, but it's just yeah. It's a complicated. It's a very touchy subject.

Right! Do support for that exactly, but the color looks very nice I like that. That look a lot and I think it would be very smart if I had that as a variant. Okay, let's talk about that in the docs. Oh yeah, this one. It's alternative like that.

HTC phone that came out like two years ago, it kind of looks like Iron Man II. Where is like perfect, and then it did. It turns like really kind of orange and yellow yeah I. Think I believe that the correct terminology, at least in salon terms, is balayage or the oh, very, pretty, very pretty. Okay.

Let's talk about the cameras, because this is something that Samsung I feel has fallen way behind its competitors with the s10 and if the rumors are true, then what the leaks show is that the cameras are probably going to be the same and to me that would be a disappointment so where they have to show us improvement is on the hardware. Sorry it's on the software. So if, if we believe what we've read a 12 megapixel, dual aperture camera, 16 megapixel wide and a 12 megapixel telephoto, which is the same as the s10 and s10 plus and honestly, like we've, done a lot of camera comparisons, you and I Patrick and we've we've shown that with their you did the one with the iPhone -. Didn't you Vanessa, which one the s10 versus iPhone I did that's right, so I mean from my perspective at least the cameras were strong, but they weren't Clarke, leading in the class right? And so, if you put it, especially when it comes to like night mode on the s10, it just couldn't compare to what the pixel 3. But when it comes to iPhone, it was actually on par, if not better than the iPhone at night mode.

As long as you didn't move her breath while taking a photo or the video another thing, but I think like again, I think for everyday use. It is a solid like B, plus a ?, absolutely and, to be honest, I think the iPhone is -. The iPhone 10s tonight max the pixel 3 I. Think for photos is like a plus I think you have stuff like the Huawei P 30 pro, which is again bonkers, awesome that zoom is bonkers, crazy but then the pixel and the while we have that special amazing stitch photo night mode where the results 9 times out of 10 are perfect, and it doesn't look realistic to the situation, but it looks very beautiful because it takes up all the shadows and there's none of that noise, and you don't have that smeary stuff on the galaxy. Well, you could probably go back to the 9 to be quite honest, that dual aperture, because it's such a wide aperture like 1.5, it's just so easy for something to be in and out of focus and that that results in this very soft look, you add some noise reduction on to it. I think you get like a very sour shot.

So if it is software that they can really fix this stuff on, that would be impressive and also video. Video is just serviceable. What I want to see an iteration of what they came out with the galaxy s 10 the 5g version, which is the with the live focused video I, was really excited about that, but I and I haven't gotten to try I, think Patrick. You did, and I was kind of disappointed at the results, so I'm, hoping that the note brings some kind of refinement to that, because it's, I know it's its not for everybody, but it's a feature that I've been waiting for a while in a phone, and you know, wasn't very impressed with on the s10. So you can probably tell us more about that.

Yeah, I would say this real, quick, still live focus. Video is an exciting thing right. So what we're doing there is taking video now and identifying like a person in the foreground, and we're going to blur that background and for a photo when you're planning a photo. You see that in the viewfinder right, so hmm. What if we could just like to have that video we see in the viewfinder live as a video right.

Okay, I'm, not an engineer. I know it's more complicated, but LG did something similar, I think I'm, to be T I'm call me out on this I'm probably wrong, but LG had that, and it worked some other time, and it's again it's a software thing you're doing a lot of processing. I can't imagine the frame rates that it limited to and all that but yeah. That would be a huge step up right to have video portrait mode and if it's kind of like you know if we give them the leeway that we gave companies like Apple and stuff when portrait mode kind of went exactly which was, but it wasn't. But it was interesting when you got it right exactly, but I hope.

It's not like a feature like that. Selfie thing that we talked about on the stylus right, where it's like. Oh it's, just fun, to use I'm, never gonna, use it yeah like Samsung. Does this a lot with the note series where it's like here's, this giant buffet of every possible? You want ice cream and oysters and sheep and lobster steak whatever tofu stuff? It's like Oh. Everyone likes the pudding that we made.

No one ate the other they're gonna. They like narrow it down by what people actually do and doing use exactly, and I'm, really hoping that, like I guess from our perspective, you know we're coming from the previous Samsung phones. We know that it sort of feels the same. But again, if you are new to the note series or upgrading from an older note, this stuff is gonna, be pretty cool as, like the one thing, I love we're, jumping ship from Apple to zooms. Well, yeah, one thing I do love is that wide-angle lens? It's absolutely amazing.

As someone who doesn't have that on their regular phone, it's pretty cool, it looks like the event is starting, that is at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. All right stay tuned, we'll be back after the note announcement for all the debrief we'll catch you later. Thank you. Everyone, thank you, I'm, so glad to be back in Brooklyn unveil the newest version of the world's most powerful. Not thank you, but as excited as I am, and I am very excited I'm, not here just to unveil a new device.

Six months ago in San Francisco, we opened the world's eyes to new possibilities that will drive a new decade of innovation and progress. It is the integration of devices, services and capabilities across the universe of galaxies devices and our vast partner ecosystem, so that experiences flows seamlessly and continually to unlock the potential of new ideas and make your life easier experience. Innovation is possible now because game-changing technologies, like 5g, have created the perfect conditions to do more with millions of connected devices per square mile. Our cities will be safer and smarter transportation will be faster and more reliable. Our businesses will be more productive and more efficiently, but, as 5g connects more and more devices' security becomes more important than ever and more complicated experience. Innovation depends on trust in the networks you connect with the services you use and the devices you depend on Samsung. We know the foundation for Trust is security. Security must be built into the device from chips to kernel, device to network and app to cloud through Samsung's, a secure supply chain and the industry's most robust risk analysis.

We are setting new standards for security and with Samsung Knox we deliver multi-layer security. That is a recognized by government around the world. We are forging trust by embedding security measures into every aspect of the digital connected world. Now Samsung is building experience, innovation into every device we create and every service we deliver. It is at the heart, our commitment to generation the sixth leave and work on their terms, o generation that has left work-life balance behind and embrace walk life flow for generation.

Thank you. We are just getting started. This is so much more to show you today. So many advances to share leather dry, new mobile experience, innovations for years to come close a special guest. You won't want to miss.

Thank you for joining us on this journey. Now, please sit back and enjoy the show. Thank you through flapper, it's great to be back here in New, York City, to introduce the incredible note 10. The note 10 is built for a new generation. It's a generation, that's reshaping everything about how we work and how we live these days, we're catching up on work, email, one minute and gaming with friends the next.

The line between work and play is pretty much disappeared, and that means we need technology that can seamlessly flow between the two. These devices were unveiling here today are built for this new era of mobile productivity and by productivity. I, don't just mean how we work. I also mean how we create and live our lives to help us do all that our devices have to be versatile, powerful and seamlessly connected. The note tin is all that and more a smartphone that can do anything designed for people who want to do everything.

The note experience has always started with a screen. After all, big screens mean more space to write, draw and create the way only note users can and now, for the first time, people who've always wanted. The power of the note on a smaller device will be able to experience it too. We've packed all the power and productivity of the note into two different sizes, so you can choose the one, that's right for you. The note 10 has everything you know and love about the note in a smaller, more compact form factor, it's the narrowest note we've ever made and for those diehard note fans the note 10 plus comes with the biggest screen ever on a note.

Both devices are impossibly thin at less than 8 millimeters and, of course, they both come with a display. That gives you a truly incredible cinematic. Viewing experience. The note tins, dynamic, AMOLED display is brilliant and utterly immersive, and it gives off less blue light to maximize your eye comfort without sacrificing color. We designed the note tin to give you more screen with fewer interruptions.

In fact, the front of the phone has virtually no bezels, giving it the highest screen to window ratio ever on a note to make room for all that screen, we made the camera cut out smaller, and we centered it at the top of the Infinity of display at the bottom. We built an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor right beneath the glass, so you can easily unlock your phone. The sensor uses software based on machine learning to distinguish between real and fake fingerprints from its immersive display to its uniform finish. The note tin has a seamless design, just two buttons on the side when it comes to color we've designed some amazing new options. No matter which note you choose, there will be a perfect color for you, including the one of a kind or a glow which creates iridescent colors by refracting, light, amazing and, of course, no matter which color choose.

Your note 10 will come with the trademark feature of the note series test pen since the very first Galaxy Note users have always recognized that the S Pen is more than just a simple tool. It's the heart of the note experience and note users inspire us every year to keep pushing the limits of what the S Pen can do. You've gone from jotting down quick reminders to taking detailed notes from sketching pictures to creating amazing works of art. That's been experience has become so powerful that we're bringing it to other devices too, including the brand new Galaxy Tab s6 that we just introduced last week here, let's check it out an amazing device, as you can see, the tab f6 is light, then a design for productivity and creativity. It comes with a souped up best pin just like the note, and you can pair it with a keyboard which now by popular demand, comes with a trackpad.

The Davis 6 is perfect for working watching and drawing on the go, and it works together. Seamlessly. With your note in just sync, your Samsung notes to the same account, and you can access him on both devices, and we've made Samsung notes better than ever. Once you've got your thoughts on the page you can zoom in and out and highlight, so it's easy to mark up. You know it's exactly the way you want and here's my favorite part now handwritten notes, don't have to stay on your phone or tablet.

You can convert your handwriting into text easier than ever, so you can save your notes as text files, PDFs or Word documents. So after a meeting I don't have to run back to my dust to type out my notes. I can just export them right from my device sharing with my team. It can even understand multiple languages. We collected millions of handwriting samples to create a database of dozens of languages, so the S Pen can accurately convert your handwriting and Samsung notes, and it's all powered by machine learning.

Of course, the S Pen is much more than just a writing tool. It's a creativity and productivity tool. ? last year, we added Bluetooth connectivity to give you new ways to control your note. Users loved being able to capture photo with just the click of an S pin this year, we're building on that foundation by giving the S Pen a new six axis motion sensor, including an accelerometer and a gyroscope mat as pin lets, you control your device with simple gestures: to show you how it works. We have a product experience on setup right outside.

Let's go there now, please welcome travel, vlogger and filmmaker Ava Rubik hi everyone, it's great to be here. My job takes me all around the world, but today I am right here in the product experience zone with the brand-new note, 10, and I'm really excited to show you how the S Pen works. Now the thing about traveling for a living is that I end up in some pretty remote places and most of the time all by myself. This can make it difficult, sometimes to document the experience to share with all of you now when I'm traveling alone, and I need a photo or a video, sometimes I'll, just ask a stranger to take it for me, but let's face it, not every stranger is going to be able to take a good photo and not every bystander is gonna, be willing to snap a picture of you, and this is why I am so excited about the new S Pen with remote control, because it'll make it so much easier for me to operate my camera. When it's just me and my tripod, let me show you how it works.

So I've got my no.10, and I've got my tripod set up right here in order to get started with the s-pen I just hold down. Yes, penny button to open up the camera, and I'm ready to start shooting my vlog. There are so many cool modes that you can choose from and with the S pen's motion tracking feature. I can switch between them all using just the s-pen without ever having to actually touch the screen if I want to zoom out or in I, can do that with the s-pen too, but I'm done composing my shot, I simply press the button, and there we have it now when I'm traveling, sometimes I want to share with you some incredible places and landscapes that I encounter. So if I spot something interesting that is behind on the other side of my phone I can simply swipe up flip with my spend, and it switches over to the back camera.

It's pretty amazing right. I can't wait to take the note n with me on my next adventure I'm off to Mongolia to do a solo horse Trek, but I won't actually be solo, because I'll have the note n with me and I hope that you guys all call him along back to you, drew thanks Ava as you've seen we've integrated new ways for the S Pen to control your phone more effectively creatively and productively, and it can be used to control other apps too. We worked with YouTube to integrate motion controls into their app, and we're also giving galaxy users access to YouTube premium. So if I want to watch one of the Ava's videos, I can play pause, skip ahead to the next video and control the volume all without even having to touch the screen, and tonight we're opening up the SDK, so developers can add motion controls to their apps to their gonna. Do things we can't even imagine with all these new experiences.

You'll want to use your S Pen more than ever, so we gave the S Pen a new and improved battery. They can go hours on a single charge and recharging is as easy as sliding your S Pen. Back into your note, the S Pen is a perfect example of how the note has changed. The way we work can create, but it's not the only powerful creativity tool on the note 10. It also comes with a state-of-the-art camera that lets you shoot like a pro look.

Smartphones have turned us all into photographers. We use our phones to capture our daily lives and share our most important memories. With the note, 10 there's a perfect lens for every shot, giving you the versatility to take incredible photos in a variety of situations, our smartphones, let us take amazing photos, but we want our videos to look professional too. To do that. We need the right tools, so today we're taking the pro grade, photography tools of the note and extending them to video.

With a note 10, you get it end-to-end video experience from the picture quality to the sound to the editing. You know our live focus feature the one that allows you to control the bouquet or background and blur to get some really amazing. Looking photos well with note 10, you can apply bouquet to your videos too. So, if you're shooting it close up, you can choose an effect that keeps the focus right on the subject and there's some awesome effects to choose from cameras have always, let's focus in on images. Now the note 10 lets you zoom in on sounds so as you zoom in both the image and the sounds come into focus.

The note tins. Video experience gives you a powerful tool for every situation, even the occasional action scene. For me, that's chasing our twins, Jack and Ava around the house trying to get them on camera at the same time. So this one's going to be perfect. For me, super steady puts an action camera in your smartphone.

We trained the note 10 with over a million frames of footage, so it can predict camera movements for different scenes. You spot the difference here. Let's see it again, so using the note, tens built-in gyro sensor super steady, detects, speed and shakiness to stabilize your footage for you filmmaking, isn't just about capturing awesome, video and audio. That's why we put an entire editing suite right on the note.10 I love it too. Now you have all the tools you need to tell your story and who better to try it out than one of the pros.

We asked la-based content creator, Casey Mary, to give it a go. My name is, and I'm a content creator based here in Los Angeles best camera is always the one all the different lens options really lets me be dynamic. With my work, super steady is amazing for capturing content on the go and keeping your footage. Looking so cool that I can now separate my subjects on the background and have a great depth of field for video capture, as well as photography being able to capture and edit on one device gives me the freedom to create anywhere living in a place like Los Angeles is such a good source of inspiration for me, because there's so much diversity and culture of learning, 2d seats you'll, like the note 10, Leslie, Foley, great content on the go so Casey and his team both captured and edited that entire video on the note, 10 plus pretty awesome right these days. We're constantly sharing photos and videos stay in touch with our friends and family, and we're always looking for new ways to personalize with different stickers and effects.

And now the note 10 lets you make your own mediums like augmented reality becoming more popular by the day and the note 10 lets you make the most of them today. We're launching a new experience that combines the power of the s-pen and the camera to. Let you create in entirely new ways: let's go back to the product experience, though, to see more. Please welcome illustrator and artist Sean donkeys thanks Durand hi everyone now I love those apps that let you Leia and mosques and filters over photos and there's a No?mie illustrator that mainly works in today. I, look at that and I think wow.

That's pretty crazy! I would never have dreamed that something I could make something like that on something that fits in my pocket and that's why I'm super excited about the note. Tens new feature, a doodle, so I'm going to show you how it works, and I'm going to enlist the help of my gorgeous model Josh over here, hi Josh. So we are going to open the camera, app put it in video mode and click the AR due to icon in the top right corner, and I'm just going to start to draw, so I'm going to write, Josh's name here in case any of you have forgotten it already, and then I'm going to use this 3d brush to draw some gorgeous leaves on Josh's head just to match the background. You know over here, and then we're going to use this special effect pen and set it to this gorgeous metallic pink color. So the AR doodle is going to sense Josh's face and stick my drawings to his face if he moves around my drawings Moo too and if he hides his face, they disappear and when he's back, they come back too.

So this also works in groups of people, which means that you can personalize everyone's filter to their personality, which I love, but it doesn't stop there if I hit everywhere. We've we've got a pre-loaded graphic here very cute, but we are going to add some of this water brush which I really love. So this is an invisible pen, but basically it tracks what's around it and shows its reflections, which is awesome. I'm going to grab the metallic brush here and kind of draw a big spiral, and you can see like I, don't really understand how it works, but the note tank can kind of sense its surroundings with real, like in reality, and you can see the drawings from every angle, which I think is super, super cool like I've. Never seen something like this on a phone right guys, hello, is anyone.

This hay doodle makes it super easy to add creativity to video, and I'm so excited to see how this changes. The way that we work and play I can imagine myself designing and whole exhibition, while moving through a space, or I can see myself creating things that exist in my imagination and applying them to the world around us. If I can throw it with the s-pen AR dude, who can bring it to life, I'll be hanging out here in the product experience zone after the show to show you guys how to use it. So please come say: hey to me and I'll see you soon. Thank you.

Thanks, John with AR the world is your campus. It's just one more example of how the note tin lets you flex your creative muscles in brand-new ways, and if you choose a note, 10 plus you'll get access to another AR experience that will bring a whole new dimension to your creativity and productivity through our depth vision, camera. This camera is, unlike anything, we've ever put on a note, together with a wide-angle lens it specializes in measuring depth of field. It uses AR to enable some truly next-level experiences like 3d scanning. Now you can use your note, tint, plus, to scan an object and bring it to life.

Let's go back to Josh to see how it works. Thanks to the 3d scanner is so much fun. Let me show you how it works with this little guy over here he's a character from Samsung kids mode. His name is Bobby: hey Bob, you ready after I, open up the 3d scanner, app I'm, ready to start scanning. Here we go so let's make sure that I get Bobby from every angle.

Okay! Think I'm! Almost there now perfect, once I'm done scanning, the 3d file will come up on my screen. Now that I have it I can create all sorts of amazing things. If you have access to a 3d printer, you can use these scans to make copies of the objects you scan, or you can create videos and three dimensions with Bobby as a main character. I'll show you how first, let's apply body tracking and then attach the note 10 we'll map this body, so we can mirror your movements now. This will really bring him to life.

Let's take a look: hey Sean, give us a wave Wow. Did you see that Bobby's able to track Shaun's movements, and he can do more than just wave at you- I'll- show you something really cool now? Isn't that awesome? Look at Bobby he's got some moves.3D scanning is a whole new medium of artistic expression and, as you can see, the possibilities are endless. Come check it out yourself here at the product experience zone right after his show back to you, Jim thanks Josh, thanks Bobby, as you just saw the note.10 opens up entirely new creative possibilities. Now we can create our own AR effects using just our smartphones and note users will be some of the first to try it out with all this cool stuff, you're making you're going to need a phone that can store everything. So you can reload relive your favorite moments over and over again note tin comes with all the storage capacity.

You need it gives you lot top-level storage without the laptop to tell you more about the power and potential of this extraordinary device. Please welcome. Pupa big thanks drew it's absolutely fantastic to be here and to tell you even more about the awesomeness of the note 10 and the galaxy ecosystem from the beginning, we've designed note devices to be fast, powerful and long-lasting, so you can always be at the top of your game. Well, guess what the note 10 pushes those boundaries even more it's a perfect tool for people who are always on the go and moves seamlessly between work and life. Take me, for example, I'm a working mom with two daughters and, as you can imagine, my plate is more than full I use my note to keep it all together, whether it's at home or at work from jotting down reminders to capturing special moments like this one.

And yes, that is my daughter three years ago. The note helps me manage every aspect of my life, and you know what, given that our phones are with us around the clock when our phones perform better. It's no surprise. We perform better and one of the biggest proof points of performance is gaming. Smartphones are quickly becoming the most popular gaming platform in the world, especially if you're playing a graphics, heavy game.

The note 10 delivers a truly epic experience. Here's how our intelligent game booster, actually analyzes your gaming pattern and optimizes its performance. Just for you and to add more the note.10 has a vapor chamber that cools your phone down. Even when the game is heating up, so whether you're, a casual, gamer, hard court, it doesn't matter you'll get the best experience possible. A s4 console and PC gamers moved to mobile multiplayer support has become super critical.

That's why we're teaming up with discord? So you can bring your friends directly to your no 10 and other Galaxy phones. Now, for the first time, you can voice chat with your squad and check their mobile game status directly through the Samsung game, launcher with discord awesome stuff, so whether you're LEG or you want to tell your friends Gigi. You can do it. Even when you're AFK from amazing gaming to all day productivity, then no 10 is incredibly powerful. It has a super, fast processor and smooth high-res graphics, and with the biggest and the smartest battery we've ever put onto a note, we've built to last all day and there's more your no tent optimizes your battery usage.

So you can do the things that matter most, but if you do need a recharge, they won't take long. The note tent supports fast wireless charging 2.0 and for the first time the note 10 plus also supports superfast wire charging up to 45 watts. So in just 30 minutes, if I forget to charge my phone overnight, no sweat whatsoever in just 30 minutes the time it takes me to get through my morning, yoga routine I have enough charge to last me through the day. No doubt the note 10 is a very powerful phone and to keep up. We need a powerful network like 5g to support it.

It's hyper fast and hyper connected, and it's poised to transform every industry. So what does that mean for you and me? Let's say we're live-streaming a concert. Now you can personalize and control your viewing experience like never before you'll be able to watch from different angles and even zoom in to see your favorite singer up close or if you're a car racing fan, and you want to catch a crucial turn. You can pause, rewind and replay and slo-mo Samsung is leading the way in 5g the galaxy s. Gen 5g was one of the first commercial smartphones to put the power of this expanding network in your hands, and now we're bringing that power to the note with the note 10 plus 5 G, but don't just take it from me industry.

Thank you. Industry experts know that Samsung goes above and beyond, and they're recognizing us for our leadership in creating the next generation of 5g devices.5G isn't just the fastest network, we're also working hard to make sure it's the most secure with Samsung Knox. Our devices are protected by a defense grade security platform. After all, we trust our devices with our most valuable possession. Our data Knox is built into the s10 and anchored directly to the chipset to make sure the only person who can access your phone is you and with regular software updates.

Rest assured your phone will be secure. The note 10 keeps you connected to supervised networks and to the entire galaxy ecosystem at Samson were uniquely positioned to make sure all your devices work together to make your life better from the phones in our pockets to the laptops on our desk to the smartwatches on our wrist, which brings me to the newest star in the galaxy ecosystem, the galaxy watch active -. We unveiled it with Le chef and entrepreneur Roy Choir earlier this week. Let's check it out, there's so much to love about the watch active to one. It looks stunning ? I'm super jazzed that it comes in a size, that's perfect! For a smaller wrist like mine and wait.

We didn't stop there. We brought back their signature rotating bezel, which everyone adored this time in a digital form. It gives you even more screen and helps you track. The information that's most important to you, the Galaxy watch active 2 is so much more than a watch. It's a perfect companion that helps you manage your craziest days, and we all have plenty of those, and it's a personal trainer that coaches you on your hardest workouts, and we could all use a kick.

Your watch with Under Armour's signature connected hover shoes, which measure your stride and form to give you even deeper insights into your run, we're thrilled to build on our partnership and bring you these fabulous experiences.

My favorite thing about the galaxy watch to that I can stay connected and leave my phone behind. It comes in an LTE version, so you can take the calls and send messages directly through the watch and if you're logged into your Samsung Account, you can also access other cool services like Samsung health and Samsung pay, and if you're listening to a beat on Spotify, you can start playing a song on your phone. Then go for a run and keep listening with just your watch and your Galaxy Buds hell. You can even use your watch to SAP a group selfie from your phone. How cool is that here? Watch active 2 becomes even more powerful when you use it with your phone, because the note 10 comes with the wireless power share.

Now I travel a lot like many of you I'm sure, always on the go and wherever we are, we always want to stay connected to everything. That's important to us. The note 10 is great for working on the go, but sometimes you need that full PC experience to get stuff done. That's why we introduced Samsung decks two years ago. Samsung decks give you that familiar PC like experience with just a monitor, mouse and keyboard, and it's all powered by a galaxy phone, and we've continued to improve the decks experience every year.

Today, I'm really happy to announce that decks now works on your laptop as well, both PC and mac. All you need is a simple USB, cable, so decks works by extending the power of your volunteer, PC, and now we're taking it to the next level by making the two really seamlessly integrated. Today, we're excited to announce a major new partnership with our good friends at Microsoft, we're integrating key services into the no 10 and really unifying the PC to mobile experience. I'm really excited today to show a few of the integrated experiences that we've been working on together. Now we all lead busy lives and were constantly juggling many responsibilities. We switch between devices every so often to complete tasks, and this going back and forth between devices is inefficient, distracting and not to mention counterproductive. With the note 10, we worked with Samsung to integrate the link to Windows button right in the quick panel.

So if you can see it here, I have actually linked my PC to my Galaxy Note 10 me with a seamless way to connect my note 10 to my Windows PC and once you're linked. I can either reply in line here or I can simply click the notification to be able to get my entire phone screen mirrored on to my PC. Now I can use my keyboard, and I'm, and my mouse, like I, showed you, but my favorite way to interact is actually using touch, so I'm able to swipe up I can look at all the apps I. Have there I could go into one of my pictures, so the picture that you just saw I'm able to pinch and zoom as well, and if people send me messages with pictures in them, I can do that exact same thing as well. I'm really excited to announce that later this year we will be enabling you to make and receive calls as well directly from your PC. I have the ability to upload it directly and then once I'm done, I can easily lock this there.

We believe in a future that will be multi device and multi sense. Every experience will be multi device and multi sense. A world where the interaction model we have with computing no longer just starts with the device but starts with the people. It includes all the devices in our lives and, together with Samsung, we're making this a reality. Our ambition is to help people be productive on any device anywhere from calls and text messages to emails and photos.

We're making these everyday experiences great the interactions across all the devices seamless, as you saw today now you can instantly sync your photos across all the devices you can edit annotate anywhere, keep your most personal information, secure and right at your fingertips, access text messages and make and take calls from your PC, and you can do it using any input, voice, pen touch and more Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. I believe this partnership is a perfect example, but what we mean by open collaboration. The impact of this philosophy also extends 12 Pittman to help create a smarter, safer and more sustainable world. One way will live up to this responsibility is through educational programs like a Samsung so for tomorrow, since 2010, we have empowered more than eight hundred forty thousand students and 26 countries to find creative technology solutions to issues that affect the communities. We are also helping create a more sustainable world by using more and more recycled material in our products and through programs like a gallop, upcycling Wichita, all the Galaxy smartphones in new it devices I'm also proud of our support for the United Nations sustainable development goals to end poverty, fight inequality, stop climate change. Thank you.

Now. The potential to use the power of technology to address the world's most pressing challenges is greater than ever so today, I'm excited to announce that we are deepening our commitment to help the United Nations Development Program achieve global goals by 2030 through this new initiative, who will offer the galaxy community simple and powerful ways to learn about the global goals and support the causes they care about at the heart of this initiative is the new Samsung global goals, app on Galaxy smartphones, that will increase awareness and raise funds. In addition, we are launching new special edition, Galaxy mobile accessories, with profits going to the global Wars. To tell you more, thank you to tell me more, please welcome UNDP administrator, our him Steiner. Thank you.

Thank you. So much DJ good afternoon to all of you here in Brooklyn, this beautiful borough in New, York, City hello to everyone following this event around the world, I can feel the collective heartbeat here in the hall, and I'm sure on the world that all this amazing technology, the power and ingenuity of Technology, clearly brings us together today, but, as DJ Cole just said, it's also the power of collaboration, and I'm very proud to be here this afternoon. On behalf of what is perhaps the greatest open-source platform the world has ever thought of the United Nations, and together we are announcing this afternoon and launching a partnership that is without precedent, reaching millions of people allowing them to be part of that open collaborative community. That cares about what happens next in our world. Technology is fascinating.

Technology empowers technology connects us. The global goals are perhaps the greatest declaration of collaboration and interdependence that we've ever dared to make so this afternoon in launching this global goals, app with Samsung and the United Nations Development Program I am very proud to open a new chapter in helping people to come together. The global goals is nothing less and nothing more than an invitation for every citizen on this planet to feel that they can make a difference through the global goals. App, you will be able to learn. You are able to support the global goals by letting them earn income that will allow us to do many of the things around the world that matter to all of us and also to donate.

So let me just tell you may not have heard of the sustainable development goals before, but if you are part of Samsung unpacked, if you as part of the Samsung ecosystem and hopefully in a few months that will never ever be said again- and let me just say the United Nations belongs to you. The global goals are yours: to unite us. They help us to address poverty to deal with climate change, to also deal with pandemics to allow the world to be connected because half the world is not yet connected to the universe that we are celebrating here this afternoon. So, on behalf of a very powerful idea that today is joining hands with very powerful and ingenious technology and products, let us make the global goals a promise to ourselves and to the world Thank You, DJ. Please enjoy the showcase. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Samsung's members, thank you.

Welcome back to scene at live that was the Galaxy Note 10.1 m + 5 g galaxy watch. As galaxy book s launched, there was a lot of stuff. There was a lot of stuff in that keynote and yeah. There were some surprises, I'm glad that Samsung really has kind of gone all out and shown a more of an integrated product lineup. What were you guys impressed by did anything the address the note the fold well yeah something bad when he was like, but don't think I forgot I was like okay, we're going to own up to this.

Yes, don't think I forgot about the biggest thing, the biggest elephant in the really exact, but all of these products. Okay, so the one thing, even though we mean we've, seen a lot about the note 10 in leaks, and now it's its here, it's in it's finally, finally being realized, I have to say: I have the 99 here and just looking at the design, I haven't had any hands-on time with the note 10 at all. It just looks so much nicer than the night 9 I genuinely feel like the design is a step-up, and I think that alone is something that is exciting, because I think it's needed. A little of a push I mean before the show we saw the renders- and they didn't really impress me that much, but then I saw the keynote and I saw what it actually looks like in video form, and it was I, was impressed. Yeah, that's a set that screen on the front I mean the amount of surface area covers, is just insane the bezels are there, but they're like almost like.

If you took a sharpie industry, was like fine sharpies too, you know, but I think it just looks very moderate and looks very sleek and the colors it has all the colors neatly lined up camera lenses on the back. You know not to me not to mention any names, but it does look better than the previous line up on the note, nine that you were showing Lexi, but it just looks spotless on the back. It imagines the cameras. Only s ten like that on their own, the part I'm trying to do some sort of I have an R 10 is. Now we have a Huawei P 30 pro like vertical camera right here.

People are gonna, probably think iPhone a little as well, because that's their style, but yet that the physical design looks attractive. But it's also like some of those camera features are very, very excited. Tesla. So I'm intrigued about this Loki video, okay, okay, video, because it's either going to be absolutely like amazing or it's going to be I, hope it's, the former I really do, and super-city stabilization and video editing tools on the cameras funny. There was one person in the audience when the video editing tools was announced, they'd like to be clear, I was not in the audience inside I was yeah Patrick.

You tried that you tried the portrait or the both effect on the video on the galaxy s.10 5g tell us a little about your experience with that, because I'm super curious to hear what that was like, and I'm, hoping that it will be slightly different on the note. Do you think it'll be different? Yeah, I mean I, don't know, I would say this shortly. They're like I feel like it's gonna, be a refined experience. It's obviously a lot of processing to do it. The way it looks I mean so if you go back, let's go back to portrait really fast, but it's not only the way portrait mode works, but it's also how people use portrait mode right and what people figured out.

Oh, this looks good in portrait mode. This doesn't you know as well as the way software was improved by all phone makers to make that look better I think you have that so go back to video when they, even at the end there that little b-roll we saw of the lady and the background just blurs out. It just looks unnatural, but I, don't know many people who are like rack, focusing like an iris on a video like that in real life on a very fancy camera. So again, it's some of it looks very artificial, but then I might also make a really cool. Peeling look to on the actual camera I saw it was spotty would be a generous word.

I didn't have, but maybe a few hours with it, so I would have to do a lot more I was outside and good light, though it's the first time I did. It was like wow, it works like I was surprised, it worked, it worked vertically, and it worked horizontally compressed by two something that doesn't work anymore, though, that they didn't address at all anywhere in the keynote was no headphone jack. It's gone, it's totally gone I mean that okay, so he was what I was thinking. If they said last year that there was no headphone jack I would have been up. You know so I was like.

Oh, can you go to the headphone jack Samson? You made such a big deal, but this year, I feel like the sentiment. The tide has totally changed. For me at least I know a lot of people who are into the note line and have stuck with it for a long time are probably gonna, be very upset by the lack of the headphone jack. But for me, I didn't say it was I, don't I don't feel heartbroken. I would have been this time last year.

You know what pisses me off a little, though, is that they didn't, and maybe they're they'll do it, and they just didn't talk about it. But the fact that they didn't have that they're not offering a some kind of pairing with the Galaxy Buds or something to that effect because I think might not address it, and I'm hearing now that they're not going to include a dongle either. That's what pisses me off. The dongle is sold separately from what I'm gathering right now, and I may be wrong. These are the first write-ups that we're getting in from the new notes, but the're going to have to pay separate for the dongle and I.

They didn't mention anything as far as bundles go with the Galaxy Buds or some kind of wireless alternative, so I think that's kind of a bad move on their part like it address it and address it, get it out of the way and give us an alternate use, or you know, an alternate form of headphones, but just not addressing it and not even offering a solution. I think that was the bad move, not necessarily getting rid of it. Yeah, and I mean it's not Samsung alone. Obviously they're one of the last major REIT retailers phone makers to remove a headphone jack and on one of the biggest phones that could actually have a head Jack that you've still probably crammed one in there. So I think it's more of us speaks the fact that there's not one headphone for, like all phones anymore, like each USB, one is slightly different, sometimes yeah and then there's the lightning ones for Apple.

So it's definitely being pushed into a wireless world. Where do you like it or not? And you're going to have your ear pod people you're gonna, have your galaxy about people, I, don't know whatever happened to the Google ones. Those schools around the streets of San, Francisco and Samsung has amazing relations with their carriers and there's always this carrier. Bundles where's like what there on the Galaxy Buds and a Samsung laptop or whatever you know, is like the Galaxy S 10, and so maybe we're missing it exactly, and it might be like when you go on the site to pre-order, especially on Samsung comm. They do throw in a lot of those things all the carriers, as you were mentioning Patrick.

It's its possible that we might still see that, and I just didn't announce. It think, though, that they would definitely cop some flak during the keynote if they did mention and I Jenny by the way Google have walked down that path before, so they've gotten like a lot of the blame- and you know I just I, don't know, I feel like I'm tongue-tied but I, say I feel a little like you Lexie, where it's like I, don't think it's as big a deal as it would have been a maybe a year ago. That being said, I also agree with you. Vanessa like how am I gonna, listen to music. If I don't have a dongle, or maybe they found a way to standardize, USB headphones a little, but we were looking before the show for just a regular old set of headphones, and we had trouble finding ones that weren't USB see that's true.

This struggle is really that I mean Steven. You still use headphones like regular, headphone, jack, iPhones, right, I use, ear, pods, oh and the other day, like my ear, pods died, and I had to use wireless headphones at that gym, and I was like the sucks. Oh, my god, you had to use wired ones at the data. We're wired, yeah, and I was like I'm, never want to go back to wire ya know, so I mean it's gonna. Take a lot of people.

Having that same experience to you know, feel that way and the five G variant which we were discussing during the pre-show I, find this interesting that there will be a five G variants of both phones, but only of the five G note 10 in Korea, whereas if you want the five G outside of Korea, you'll have to get the note 10 plus, which is the 6.8-inch screen the bigger phone. The flagship one are obviously more expensive, so I am just genuinely interested. If you were one of those people that wasn't quietly want 5g, and you want the latest phone, but you're not quite ready to spend. How much is the no 10 or $1300 in the 5t Variant I mean that's a lot, but I mean this is where it's like. Fighting gets a little hard because, like there's so many flavors of 5g, you know with the different there's like we could talk about five to four hours here, but the bigger point might be also it's like it's just because a show we're not ready as a wide consumer industry.

It doesn't need me on our phones, yet you know, and it's still like an almost a luxury early adopter thing. That being said, you live in Korea, that's pretty darn cool, yeah, yeah and there's a spin on theirs is their network seems to be bigger and cover more there's a much smaller country see yourself. Mm-Hmm I was I genuinely want to have some hands-on time with the galaxy book s I. Think that looks really nice. Maybe I might the only one.

That's like nice. It looks, sweet sleek, but I mean the thing. Is those I've always loved the Samsung industrial design of their laptops, but I'm not in a hundred percent sold on the actual? You know configuration of the hardware and how it all works, and, if is if it's a long-term proposition but 23 hours of battery life. Yes, the side view of it has like the witty, like probably USB, C port or something it reminds me of like the original MacBook Air. What had that, like drop-down USB seems like its just kind of hanging there yeah yeah? That's that's not that great, but I love everything else about it.

Yeah, I mean yeah again I'm and again like a lot of their products. They look even better in person so mm-hmm. Well, if you have any comments about anything that you'd like to loved hated about the Samsung meant you can hit us up on the C net, live hashtag. I want to talk about the because you brought it to the laptop I want to talk about the Galaxy watch. Yes watch, then you are watch the galaxy watch active ?, and this is kind of weird because I feel like we just had a galaxy watch active launch in February, and it's weird that they're already launching a second version and that they spent so much time on it on the actual event because they launched it on Monday.

Officially and I wasn't expecting to see it at the event, because I thought: okay, maybe it's kind of a secondary launch, but no they gave it just as much screen time as they did with the original Galaxy active watch, which makes me think that the original galaxy active didn't do so well. Yeah I'm, not sure, but what's interesting about this watch is that it looks the same as the original galaxy watch active with that with there's no bezel, but they kind of brought about the bezel because it's now had like Coptic, but it's not just bring back the physical just bring back the bezel and it was so cool. But what was it mention, though, is that it has an ECG feature kind of like the Apple Watch, and they didn't mention it on purpose, because it's not FDA cleared and Samsung has been doing this, since the first galaxy watch active is that they launched these like impressive health features, and they put it on the press release, and then they don't mention it ever again. Does it disappear into the ether, though, because the blood pressure monitoring from the galaxy watch active still hasn't been FDA cleared? Has it no, and that was how many months ago now, like your February? Yes, it should be fair. It takes a while, but I mean I, wouldn't if I was I'm saying what, but I would just not mention it exactly.

Well, that's the Apple school of thought, I'm going back to Monica time. Do you think you kind of dinged the Sun earlier it's like their market is much bigger than the US as well? Right so I mean you're gonna, I'm. I know we've covered other products like SES, especially coming better like medical rehabilitation devices coming out of Korea, and they go through that. Then they'll go through Europe, and then they usually go through the US, but it is a shame, because these amazing features and if they were working through the scale and accuracy that Sampson says it's like that, is a big win yeah. They just have to get that.

Checkmark really important. That was kind of the question mark on last. One is that you know the the medical part, or at least a blood pressure monitoring on the last one. It wasn't advertised as such. For a reason, it only worked with a blood pressure, cuff, which kind of totally did you got the baseline reading from the blood pressure cuff before you input that reading into the watch and then the watch is supposed to take the reading, and then it comes up with the same as the cuff, and you're going I mean yeah, but they don't call it a watch, the called a medical device, the only thing that was kind of exciting about the galaxy watch active which I had about the second version, is that it does have LTE which, in our comparison, Lexie.

That was one of the things that one of the pluses for the Apple Watch is that it does give you the option to leave your phone behind and have an LTE version. If that's your thing so that to look forward to on the galaxy new galaxy watch active and the fact that apparently, it's got new sensors, which was my other big problem with the watch, is that it just took away too long to register heart rate. Therefore, I didn't trust the accuracy of the calorie count, and so hopefully, they kind of refined that, on this new version, so I think this is just kind of a refinement of the first one yeah, and it's you know, updates, but just bring back the bezel. So the watch is like if these watch it is like more of a refinement, like the note seems like it's more. It's game that it's not a huge revolution of like design, but it's definitely there's a lot.

That's been added both inside, like with the vapor cooling chamber. I know they've had other kind of cooling systems before, but that's definitely I think we were shooting fortnight in the room, and they got announced like this. Definitely appeal to our, like. You know, casual gamers, but then on the flip side, I'm wondering what do you so we doors all the hype about the stylus right. What are we thinking? The stylus so I feel like the stylist is no longer the defining feature of the note line.

I really do after that announcement, which makes me sad because I think the stylist was such a huge draw card and I wouldn't be surprised going forward. If the stylist is just there, it just doesn't have any updates to it. Motions like there was that, like it off that, didn't really do it. For me, I mean look, we've seen project sold coming from Google and the pixel, for which actually just looks a little if that's gesture based as well with a services very different system, but that's something that is a total new way to interact with your device, the stylus and waving it around and clicking. It doesn't really feel to me like it's necessary, but it seems like they missed a huge opportunity to pair up with, like a Harry Potter's like Microsoft, it's like, and it's like, using like a magic wand, but yeah I, don't know it seemed neat.

It seems like something I would try, but it seems like something: I, probably wouldn't use or if I did, I'd be like oh I'm, that guy showing you my motion and so and we could get away from that right away. Couple questions on the scene at live hashtag. First one was a comment from glucose god: no SD card slot on the note 10, yeah, I, hear ya, I mean that's huge I'd the night end an expandable storage I like this phone jack and a note Ted them up, so I'm. Sad about that. If you want expandable storage, you're going to have to go to the note, 10 plus and there's another question from Jared.

What is the base storage for the note 10 and does it have expandable storage? Well, we just answered no expendable storage. On the note 10 note, 10 plus has that the base storage? That's a good question: I think was 250 Suzy, yeah I'm, pretty sure that's right, the 256, yeah and I. Think that's gonna. Do some hot checking I think there's only one there's! Only one storage, TIA I, don't think there is an extra. So if you buy the note 10, there's no expandable storage, you can't get 512 variants.

I say that was the cool name of the note 9 you had the 512, and then you could put in the 512 and theory your SD card, and you have a terabyte of storage on your phone. So it's interesting that they're kind of moving away from that a little right, I, don't want to I- do want to check that I do want to double-check that I don't want to get that wrong. That's important to check the base storage and, if there's actually another variant, I don't think there is, but I could definitely. But it is honestly to go back to it's one of my favorite features. That is like it's just a quiet.

It's a smart feature, kind of like in a way headphones. That can be sometimes right where it's like. You know it works it's easy to pop in and out and if I want to put more storage in there, I get a bigger card like a larger storage card, exactly all right. So overall, are we yay or nay on the notes 10. Let's have our verdict Patrick and go first I'm yay on the note 10, it's not like a screaming out.

Here's my money, but I'm excited to try. If I think it. It's probably one of their best phones they've ever made. This looks. It looks amazing, and I was I love the wide-angle camera on the s10, II and I love that form factor quite a bit, but to go the other way, and it just seems like, like you were talking by there's no longer about the stylus.

It seems like it's a lot more about making it as refined as possible and I. Think I like that. Yeah I, like it too, how about you? What are you thinking? I own, a'm, a yeah I, think I dug it I thought it was really cool. Look beautiful I, like the s-pen controls from a distance and I, also thought like the video where you could zoom in on a sound or something I was like. How do you do that? So I'm really curious to see how that works, but yeah yeah, that's a tip yeah I'm curious about that sounds coming in yeah yeah, what it actually does: okay, Vanessa I own a, so I just looked up the storage, and you were correct 256, that's the only option for the note and then the note 10 plus goes to 256 or 512, plus the expandable to one terabyte.

So my verdict is definitely yay, which is, but only I think what kind of got me is that, as you know, I'll tease my I'll do a shameless plays shame. Babies I read a lot of Apple rumors in my other in my day job. So for apple core. This is your night job, so I'm up on a lot of the rumors and a lot of the things that we saw on the note are just rumored features that will be coming to the iPhone this year or even next year. So the fact that Samsung is able to bring them to life already on the note 10 is pretty impressive.

Coming from that perspective. Now, obviously it is, as you said, Patrick kind of refinement of the note line. So a lot of these things are kind of to be expected, but I definitely like the new design. I'm really excited to try the new camera features. Obviously, when I'm in a room full of camera lovers over here, so that good, that's suffice to say that we are excited about that I, don't I, don't think the s-pen sold me.

It never really has it's a kind of nice little harness at the end of the day, and it's its I would probably lose it. That's my main fear about the note about the stylist on playing Harry Potter's find my pin. Probably one of the iPhone I was impressed, and you know that Samsung has never failed with its hardware. So you know now everything else is TBD, and we've got to test everything out exactly what the battery performance is, etc. , etcetera, etcetera, but from the outsides from the exterior alone, I'm definitely impressed how about you, Lexy I am impressed, but I know.

This is easy. One note 10 or oh, no 10 plus well, if money is not an object, of course. The note because I want that extra AR camera I want the expandable storage I. Just those two things for me are words the screen, yep I'm, so pleased yeah, it's big but I. Don't to me the screen is not the reason why I would get the plus it's literally for that camera and for that expandable storage.

That's what I want it! Full I mean hey if we're going all-in, let's just go in all-in on the no 10 plus 5 G I got. Let me ask you this though. Yes, what about the okay? Now that one more like here's, no 10 or galaxy s, 10 plus Norton? Why because it's nicer? Looking its it really! That's as simple as that. It comes down to that. For me, it said much I, like the design, is a lot nicer.

I like the fact that the teardrop camera is that the know in the middle as opposed to on the side, and you get a stylus as a bonus. That's that storage, because the S 10 plus doesn't have expandable storage. Does it I, don't remember I, honestly, don't remember, but I don't think it does so to me. That would be. That would be it and I can save by to the headphone jack.

Finally, I mean I, don't I didn't want to, but I'm myself, that's it what's happening. It's done. How about you, man, I, think I would go the opposite way. I think I would actually take a s10 plus over a note, and even though I do think. The note in does look a little sleeker and a little sexier I.

Don't know if it's worth that extra money for me. Well, what about, so I think my answer would be I'm I would hold off to test the camera. I mean that's the ration surtout all these for this I think that would be the selling point between the s10 and the note 10. For me how much Samsung has improved the camera on the note and that we can't really know for sure right, yeah, wait and see kind of like we need someone to tell us he's tried it I wonder where we could find that actually I know a woman who has had some serious time within Norton and the note 10, plus it's Jessica Dole Court, and we will play her first look very, very soon, but I want to say thank you for watching and joining us today on CNET live. This has been fun.

If you have any more questions for us, you can tweet us keep an eye on things on cnet. com, and we probably will be here for the Apple event in September at some stage, we'll see we'll see what happens. That's pretty soon, very soon until then Steven, Patrick and Vanessa. Thank you. Thank you.

Thank you, and thank you for watching all right. Take a look. This is Jessica's. First, look at the no 10 and no 10, plus I'm gonna, start that again because. It's playing one of our streams on one of these.

In one there we go okay, starting again, bye.
