Vivo’s X60 Pro Plus Review Gimbal And Zeiss Are Nice But Other Parts

Last year's VIVO x50 pro was a very good mid-tier phone with a much hyped gimbals camera system that ultimately didn't change the game as much as its marketing would have. You believe, don't get me wrong. The gimbals system did work just only in extreme and niche shooting situations like filming while running upstairs. Still. The x50 pro was a good mid-range phone that came with a good price tag, so it was a worthy purchase. Anyway, this year's VIVO x60 pro plus promises an improved gimbals camera system.2.0 and I've been testing it for nearly a month. At the risk of spoiling the review, I can say that the gimbals camera system still doesn't move the needle too much I'll explain this more in depth further into the article, but the phone has improved in all the other areas, significantly to the point that it is no longer a mid-ranger but a full-fledged flagship, and it still has a good price tag relative to the competition.

The VIVO x60 pro plus, looks almost exactly like last year's VIVO x50, pro plus, meaning it has a curved 1080p LED screen, aluminum chassis with flat top and bottom that allows the phone to stand on its own vegan leather back and a rectangular camera module that features an understated design. It's not as attention grabbing a camera module as the one seen in the Oppo find x3 pro or Samsung Galaxy s21 ultra, but I find it a classy professional look. Every android flagship has a large curved screen with a hole, punch, design, housing, the selfie camera. So I like that the x60 pro plus feels different by using a vegan leather back as opposed to glass, and its display is a smaller 6.5 inches. Virtually every other android flagship of 2021 have gone 6.7 inches or above the phone feels different in the hand due to the leather texture and the smaller size. It's also relatively light at 191 grams inside is a snapdragon 888, a flagship chip, 12 gigabytes of ram along with fast UFS 3.1 storage, along with a 4200 William hours battery. These are all flagship components, but VIVO has skipped other premium extras, like quad HD resolution, it's just a 1080p panel here, wireless charging and stereo speakers, I'm okay with the omission of the first two as it's a reasonable trade-off to meet a lower price point.

But a single mono speaker in 2021 is tough to accept even budget.300 phones offer stereo speakers in 2021. The VIVO x60 pro plus features a quad camera system, a 50, megapixel main camera, a 48 megapixel ultra-wide, that's supported by the gimbals system and a pair of zoom lenses, one telephoto one periscope zoom, covering the 2x and 5x focal length. Let's start with the gimbals camera system and the ultra-wide camera. It's a pixel, dense, 48, megapixel lens with a really wide 123 degree, field of view and photos captured, are generally pleasing and sharp. The gimbals system also helps stabilize the lens during night mode photos which requires holding the phone still for three to five seconds.

So the camera is quite capable.
