Unboxing the TCL 10 Series Phones! TCL 10L and TCL 10 Pro! My Hot Take On These Sub $500 Phones 🙌 By Shannon Morse

What's up s'mores, I'm, Shannon Morse, welcome to my YouTube channel all about tech reviews tutorials and how to be today I have another unboxing for you, and this one is the brand new TCL 10 series phones. So there are actually two different phones from TCL I know. This is kind of a bit of a surprise, but I got to see these at CES, so I'm really excited to go ahead and get hands-on and actually give you a full review of both of these phones. Do comparisons check out the camera pretty much everything that I could ever think of. So first we have the TCL 10 Pro, and then we also have the TCL 10 L they're, also coming out with a 5g variant in the future this year sometime this year, but of course I, don't have that one in my hands. I do have these to check out, though, and I'm going to go ahead and unbox.

Those today give you a few first impressions and also let you know a little about what's to come with both of these phones. Now, as usual, I did want to thank everybody for your support. That was probably a little scary. This is my curse. All knife I carry it with me everywhere.

I love this thing, but it's great for packaging like these there's some plastic wrap on both of them that you do have to tear off and there's also a security strip on the boxes. As far as the boxes are concerned, they're pretty similar in style both of them have a nice render of the phones on the front of them, and they also have some descriptive text on the sides. So you can kind of compare and contrast which one you might want to purchase if you chose to go out and grab one of these this year, so I can already tell you that there's a big difference in the cameras there's a 48 megapixel in the 10 L and 64 mega pixels in the 10 Pro. They also have a difference in the battery life. Four thousand William your hour over here and then forty-five hundred over here for the ten pro looks like both of them support HDR.

So we have HDR ten on the pro and HDR on the ten L, but otherwise I can give you the rest of the specs in my full review. I just wanted to get some first impressions out of the way today, so I'm going to go ahead and start with the 10 L, and then I'll move over to the pro. Let's go ahead and slide this open, okay. Well, they are definitely ready to go. They have a little SIM card, ejector right on the front ready for you.

This is thick I, wonder if there's a case in here or something like that. There is a case. That's great. So the case itself is a simple Vend?e plastic CPU case it does say display greatness across the back of it, which is also super cute. But it's relatively simple.

The TCL 10 L also has display greatness written into the protective cover right there. So I'm going to go ahead and slide that out whew. How pretty is that look at that? Pretty holographic? It's so lovely! You can see my overhead camera, it's very rainbow II, but it's a really dark, like gray color, so very cute, I, like it, okay, I'll, give you a few more thoughts on that in a second I wanted to show you what else is included in here. We have a USB type-c, two regular USB charging cables. So that's nice to have there's also an adapter for the wall says TCL on the front of it's a nice branding.

It looks like that's everything for the box, so I'm going to go ahead and boot this up, so we can see what the display looks like I'm kind of excited about the display, since it does say, display, greatness alright. Now that this one has gone ahead and booted up I'm going to go ahead and set it to the side and open up the 10 Pro there we go, you can sit in your case. Here is the 10 pro. In this case, you automatically get the phone on the top I wonder if they do have a sim removal adapter in here too yep there's one. It looks exactly the same.

I think there's another case in here. There is yay. Is it the same? Ok, it's about the same as the other model. With this case, however, this one does have some like thin lines, kind of textured into it. This one does not, it just says, display greatness, and it does not have all these thin lines going through it all right, some instruction cards, etc.

, etc. Nothing too exciting there I'm going to go ahead and set that to the side as well, and this one also has the same cable, and it looks like slightly different power adapter. This one is a little bigger. Okay, so I'll go ahead and remove this one from its plastic protector. Look at that hombre! Okay! So this one has a pretty cool hombre effect, going on from a kind of lighter gray color to a darker gray up here, I know: there's a specific name for both of these colors I'll bring it up in the review.

This one is gorgeous. It looks like it won't pick up too many fingerprints yeah. It looks like it's not going to pick up fingerprints, which is pretty cool I like that. Compare that to the TCL 10 l, and you do get some fingerprints on the back of this one, so I highly recommend putting it in a case already, let's see, checking these outside by side is pretty interesting. I think now this one has quite a bit of a bezel okay, I'm going to go ahead and boot this one up, so I can take a look at it as well, well that one's booting up I just wanted to mention both of these have really similar camera layouts.

So this one has the four cameras at the top, and this one does too. It also has like autofocus and flash and modes like that. This one does have a. What is this a fingerprint sensor, I'm, not really sure if I'm going to take a look at that and find out the side. Layouts are pretty similar as well.

You do have a couple of different button functionalities on there, so there is volume on here. There's the power button to there's another button on the sides which I believe we can customize, so that'll be pretty fun. This one has the SIM slot on the side, the 10 pro it appears to be on the bottom. Now the 10 pro it looks like there is that one speaker grille on the bottom interesting and then USB, of course, in the center, while the 10 L appears to be too speaker, girls, but I could be wrong. So I'm going to be taking a look at that much more closely as well.

Oh my gosh, I completely forgot you guys. I saw these at CES and I completely forgot about this. They have headphone jacks I know that's such a silly thing to get excited about these days, but I'm, a security person and Bluetooth is not necessarily the most secure thing. So I like hard-wired connections quite often, and they have headphone jacks. Oh my gosh, that's so cool I'm, so excited about that.

Okay I'll have to test the internal audio on these, since they do come with those, because that is pretty awesome. I'm so excited about that I feel kind of ridiculous, getting so excited about headphone jacks. But it's a thing. It's a thing: okay, so here they are side by side. Now, I can automatically tell that on my close-up.

You do see some black bars. That is not noticeable to the human eye. That's just because of the differences in the refresh rate with my camera, which is actually an international version of this Sony camera. So that's why if this was an American camera, you would probably not see that. So that's just something I have to deal with.

Sometimes, if I showed them this camera, you probably don't see those lines moving up on the phone. So keep that in mind. It is not the display it's my international camera, so one thing I did want to point out what This is. This one is an obviously wider display than this one, which is a much thinner, over display. You can also tell with both of them that the front-facing cameras are at different places.

They both have those nice little punch outs. This one actually has a bit of a notch that this one has a punch out on it. So you have this one up in the corner. Well, with the 10 Pro, you have the little notch up in the center of the display so interesting difference. There I almost feel like just with first impressions, I kind of like the 10 L more.

However, I know that this one is less expensive than this model, but both of them are sub $500 phones. This is going to be fascinating to do a comparison and check out the cameras and everything like that. I would love to know what you want to see down below in the comments too, because I haven't gotten to review sub $500 phone since, like one plus had $500 phones, so here's kind of a hot take, and I'm wondering if anybody else feels this way about these TCL phones, since one plus has chosen a price they're so high this year, I am wondering if TCL is going to take over that one plus market, even though there are other phones in the $500 market range for Android devices, I feel like sometimes the quality is missing, and I'm, hoping that TCL brings that quality to something that can be another flagship killer. So Name TCL will be that flagship killer. That I want to see in 2020 I, don't know I'm curious.
