All right, I guess this is my first step into the world of high-end android phones, I'm not gonna lie to you, I'm a little nervous, hey, I'm Seth, and I'll unbox, pretty much anything, and today I'm unboxing the brand new Samsung Galaxy. Note 20 ultra 5g thanks so much for tuning in today, whether you came from my main channel or you just found me on YouTube. Somehow I never know how the algorithm really works. Thank you so much for being here and make sure to hit that subscribe button down below also as with everything else on the channel. If you guys want to check out anything that I talked about in today's video I'll make sure to link an affiliate link in the top of the description and, of course, in the case of today's video, it's the Samsung Galaxy note 20 ultra 5g, so I actually got this phone in a little early because it does not release until August 21st, and I'm really excited to check this phone out, see what it's all about and see. If I can make the switch to android, I literally have not used an android phone as a daily phone for years, but this might be the first phone that can get me to switch.
So I went with the mystic black version of the phone and I also got the unlocked version of the phone which retails for 12.99, which I'm not gonna lie to. You are a huge amount of money, but honestly what I'm interested to find out over the next couple of days and weeks as I review this phone, whether this phone is really worth that crazy, high price tag, but before we actually bust out the phone itself, let's take a quick look at the retail packaging, so the entire box comes in this really nice, almost matte black, finish accented by some really subtle, n20 and s, pen, branding in gloss black and at the bottom of the front of the box. You've got note, 20 ultra 5g, written in silver, and this is actually my first 5g enabled phone. So I'm really excited to check that out. The sides of the box are pretty plain: you've got this really subtle.
Like black gloss, Samsung Galaxy note, 20 ultra 5g text on one side can't even really see it unless you just hit it right with the light and then the back of the box is pretty self-explanatory. You've got unlocked by Samsung and then some important information about the phone itself. But let me stop wasting your time and let's cut this box open and see how the phone actually looks. I'm pretty sure this is my first Samsung Galaxy device. Is that crazy? That's crazy! I've had lg's, I've had blackberries, I've obviously had iPhones, but this is the first Samsung Galaxy phone that I've had, and I've only heard good things to be honest with you.
So let's check it out, see how it looks see if I can actually cut the uh the tape well, which apparently I could not there. We go. Oh, look at that, that's beautiful! Obviously it doesn't look like much right now, because it's kind of just a black glass screen but um. It's gonna look great when I turn it on, but before we actually get to the phone itself, let's see what this instruction manual is or what this? What even is that it looks like there's actually something stuck in the top of the box and um. I think it's the instruction manual, I'm not 100 sure there we go got it, so it looks like here: we've got the sim removal tool on the back and inside this little cardboard box, we've got.
What probably is the manual I would think, get the most out of your phone Samsung care, nice terms and conditions, and then there's the manual gotcha Samsung Galaxy note, 5g and 5g ultra man, I'm so excited to check out this phone. The screen looks incredible, so I'm really excited to see it in person and really just start using it play with the camera play with the screen play with the power that it has, because it's an insanely, powerful phone. I can't wait. Oh man, look at that. Look at that.
It's got some nice weight to it too. I love that so. Like I said, I went with the mystic black version of the phone just because I feel like it's the most low-key of the phones, and it's still got a really nice sheen to it, which I like is that a scratch on there? Now just some glue. So next up inside the box, we have okay. This is why you unboxing on tables.
I don't know why I keep doing this. I'm just going to put everything back in the box and pretend like that didn't happen. Furthermore, I don't actually know which way it goes, but there we go. Okay, figured it out, oh man, I wonder what could be underneath this little paper tab. Oh, look! It's the power brick and the USB cable, crazy.
I never would have guessed. But yes, you do have the supercharging power brick right here, which I'm really excited to try out and then also the USB cable right there. Let's pull this guy out USB to USB it's a beautiful thing, but from what I can tell that might be everything that's inside the box. So I feel like we got everything. We've got the charging brick, we've got the cable itself, we've got the instructions and, of course, the phone.
So let's peel off this plastic and check out this phone here we go. You know what I should do it really close to the screen, so you guys can see it beautiful, see the front side. How do we do the front side? I kind of don't want to pull off the screen protector on the front, but I'm going to have to do it. Oh, it looks like there's actually plastic protectors on the bottom of the phone and the top of the phone as well, which is kind of crazy. I've never seen that before.
But hey. You know what more protection the better when it's like a really shiny glossy phone. You know I'm going to leave that on for now so uh. Let's turn this guy on and see how it looks beautiful, look at that. The first power-up is always the best.
That screen looks incredible. I mean, obviously it's just a power-up screen so far, but man I'm excited that screen is huge. This is ridiculous here. Let me type in my Wi-Fi info really quick. What is my Wi-Fi info? I don't remember my Wi-Fi give me a second one check my Wi-Fi info really quick.
So while I'm getting the phone all updated and all set up, let me talk about some of the specs that really make this phone special first off. The most eye-catching feature of this phone literally, is the 6.9 inch 3088 by 1440 AMOLED screen. That's HDR, 10 plus capable not only that, but this screen also has a 120 hertz variable, refresh rate, which none of my phones up until now have had so to tell you the truth, I'm stoked so right now, I'm transferring data from my Pixel 4a to my brand new Samsung Galaxy note: 20 ultra 5g. That name is ridiculously long, and it's probably the last time I'm going to say it in this video and uh. I just can't wait to start using this phone for real.
It's also really cool that you can just plug the two phones into each other, and they transfer data like that. It might just be an iPhone plea, but never have realized. You could do this on android, but it's a really cool feature, and it's definitely faster than saving everything into the cloud and then redownloading it. Some other really great things about this phone that have gotten me excited about using this phone are the three cameras on the back. You've got an ultrawide, a telephoto and a main camera which, to be fair, is also on the iPhone.
Both of these cameras are 12 megapixels and the main camera is 108 megapixels, which is absolutely insane something else. That's kind of crazy about this camera is that it has 50 times zoom now in older models it had up to 100 times zoom, which, to be honest, is too much, and it already gets kind of grainy. In my opinion, 50 is more than enough, and you're, probably not even going to use 50 anyway, unless, like you're spying on somebody, which you shouldn't do, so I just set up the face unlock, and it was insanely fast. I really didn't expect it to be that fast, especially since I'm so used to the iPhone face, unlock which isn't slow but setting it up took like 30 seconds to a minute. This was almost instant.
I mean look at that. It really looks like you're just holding a window into the Samsung world, there's like barely any bezels at all, and the thing that I actually kind of like which I didn't think I was going to like- is the way that the screen kind of falls off to the side. That's something I've heard mixed reviews on people either like it or they really don't like it. For me, as of right now, in the couple of minutes that I've been playing with this phone, it's actually kind of nice um. The one thing I'm not a huge fan ergonomically about this phone, though, is the really sharp corners.
I feel like that's just unnecessary just around the corners. That's all. I need some other notable specs about this phone, which I'll dive deeper into when I actually give you guys. The full review are the 12 gigabytes of ram, which is insane for a phone storage wise. The spec that I went with was 128 gigabytes, which for me should be more than enough, but there is also a 512 gigabyte version available.
If you feel like you need the space. Of course, it is more expensive processor. On the note 20 ultra 5g is the Qualcomm snapdragon 865 plus, which is insanely fast much faster than last year's and as far as battery life goes, this phone comes with a 4500 William hour battery, which of course makes sense, because the phone is so large and can fit a larger battery when it comes to actually charging up the note 20 ultra. Of course, you've got the fast charging option with the USB cable and wall wart, which is probably the way that most people will go and, of course, with this phone being a 1300 flagship. It comes with wireless charging, capabilities and reverse wireless charging capabilities, which essentially means that you can wirelessly charge.
Other phones on your note, 20 ultra, which to be fair, isn't a new feature. Samsung has had this for a while, but it's definitely cool and actually really quick. Just for my own personal interest, let me see how fast the face unlock is almost instant, that's crazy! It's its faster than iPhones for sure. Another feature which I'm really excited about on this phone is the s pen, which, for some reason, has switched sides on the phone. The s pen is Samsung's onboard stylus, and on this newer version of the s pen, you have much lower latency, which means it draws much more.
Naturally, I'm a designer, I love, sketching. I love drawing on the go and what I'm most excited about this phone, which I don't think is the case for everyone. Who's buying. This phone is the drawing capabilities. I use my iPad Pro all the time, and it would be really nice to have a much smaller version of that, which I could jot down really quick ideas and sketch anywhere, because with the iPad Pro you kind of have to have a backpack or just carry it around under your arm, which is not always something that's feasible.
Something else that I really started to like on the Google Pixel 4a, which is the first phone that I ever had that had this feature, was the pinhole camera, the one that's right in the center of the phone itself, which, unlike the iPhone, which has that ridiculously large bar, which has a full sensor array, is much more minimal and much more clean and quiet. Oh one, other thing, that's kind of a feature and is also just kind of construction detail, is the fact that they've utilized gorilla glasses, new Vitus glass, which is apparently their strongest gorilla glass. Ever I really personally have absolutely no way of testing that it's still glass, so it will still break, but I would definitely check out Jerry everything's video on it, because it gives you a perfect insight into what this glass can actually do. Dude honestly, I can't get over the screen. It's beautiful, it's huge! The resolution is insane, and I'm actually going to try bumping down the resolution a little, so I could try.120 hertz see how that is seen how smooth it is, of course, there's a ton of other details and features about the Samsung Galaxy note: 20 ultra 5g, again ridiculously long name that I'd love to talk about in today's video, but we just don't have time so make sure to stay tuned and subscribe. So you guys can check out my full review coming in the next few days.
I'm really not kidding when I say that this is the most excited that I've been about a phone for a really long time, but now I would love to know your thoughts on the Samsung Galaxy note, 20, ultra 5g, and whether it's a phone that you would ever consider picking up. So let me know in the comment section down below and as always thank you so much for watching make sure to subscribe. If you haven't yet, and I'll see you all in the next one.
