I won't say i've always wanted to be a cowboy. I was working on my fastball but that didn't pan out. But boy I got to college and was living in town and like you know this isn't where i want to be. So I came back home and i've never looked back. My family has been here in Iron Mountain at this ranch since 1903. The original property was just a few square miles just right outside of the town of Iron Mountain.
I always thought being a cowgirl would be kind of fun I love ranching i didn't grow up doing it. i just really looked up to women who were able to do some of the hardest jobs that men do it's a lifestyle that we really enjoy but it is a it is a harder harder way of life it's not for everyone. You try and gain a horse's trust right you try and use their language instead of yours and their language is movement you can do it right and i've darn sure done it wrong. And I've got the scars to prove it in hospital bills but nope just trying to speak on their terms. To help each other out we call it neighboring.
One of the neighboring ranches is moving cows and they need a little help. And not only do you get help but you gain the best people in your life and really really cool friends. We're just too far away from anything to not help each other out here. One of the nice parts about this job, ranching you do kind of think to yourself this could be kind of romantic job at times because you're seeing things that 99 of america will never know is going on. It's not a fashion or a look.
It's about work ethic and taking care of the things that need to be done. To be a cowboy i guess it's not necessarily that you ride a horse or wear a big goofy looking hat. You're in charge of taking care of animals it's a job and it's a mindset. This really is our way of life.
