TCL 10 5G UW (Unboxing and first impressions)

Hey guys, mike from tech reviews here and today, we unbox and take a look at the TCL 10 5g UW, hey guys, welcome back to my channel. So today we're going to take a look at the TCL 10 5g UW, which stands for ultra-wideband and again this is actually one of the biggest unboxing I've ever had to uh. Do because um this! This is like a shoe size box. So let me go ahead and uh remove this cover over here, and I think it's interesting a big shout out to TCL uh for sending this out to the first. So, okay. First, look at that.

That's kind of big! I'm going to put that in the background display greatness. You know what I mean and then okay hold on. Let me just put that down and on the inside comes with uh. I guess a little of information about the device I'll take a look at that a little later. But again, let's take a look at this so boom.

This is what comes in the box here, the power of 5g for everyone. So this is actually supposed to be a Verizon exclusive uh device, and it's going to be a device, that's a little comparable to the T-Mobile level 5g and if you guys are looking for an unlocked device, you could always buy the tcl10 pro, although the TCL 10 pro and the TCL 10l are going to be only 40, Lt uh 4g LTE uh compatible. So let me continue to unbox this and get this going hold on here. Whoa, okay, so this thing's just going to come off, so I'm going to go ahead and just throw that on the floor. So here's the actual device itself, I'm going to put that to the side just because I see that this is actually coming with a lot of goodies here.

So again, um again big shout out to TCL for sending this out to me. Oh my gosh and, of course it's going to come with a apeak protective case. So again I'm going to use this because again I want to make sure that this device is protected. So I want to put all that aside again. Wow, super excited to unbox this and wow.

I mean here's the box itself uh. It says it's got a 6.53 inch, FHD plus display it's got a 2.4, gigahertz, quad-core or excuse me, outscore processor. You don't really see you, don't you don't really see uh quad-core processors anymore, it's more of like hexa-core or outscore. Now it's got a 48-megapixel rear facing camera, so that's going to kind of line up with the TCL 10l or possibly even the uh Rev 5g by T-Mobile, 128, gigabytes of internal storage and six gigs of ram, and it's got a 4 500 William battery, and it's, and it's sporting, a Qualcomm snapdragon processor. For those of you who are wondering and just more information on the back here.

It's got: pre-installed 5g, sim card, sim ejector tool and fast charge wall, USB power, adapter, and again it's USB type-c. So let's get the unboxing going for you guys, okay, all right guys we're going to do it like flossy carter over here. I just need white uh white shoes to get over here, so there's no protective tape, uh taking or making sure that I can not remove this. So I'm going to go ahead and just slide this off. I always have issues with these type of boxes, but again uh here is again the TCL 10 5g UW, which is kind of a long name for a device, but this is actually their first 5g device, or at least the first 5g device that I know of they do have again the T-Mobile Rev 5g, but that one is not branded as a TCL device.

So this is actually going to be a lot, a good deal for people that are wanting to get into a 5g phone for an inexpensive price. Now, of course, I don't have all the pricing. I believe it's around the 399 mark. If I'm not correct on that, someone uh call me- or you know, correct me down below uh, but just feel taking this out and filling it in the plastic. It does feel like a premium device in the hand, uh real, quick, I'm going to just slide this off, and I'm just enjoying the way the box looks, honestly.

Uh feels perfect in the hand. You know it's got a's got some of somewhat of a plastic polycarbonate back and let me see if I can kind of get a better shot there for you guys looks nice though I mean I would actually like to use this without a case, but you have that triple camera setup in the back there uh you have that square like uh fingerprint sensor, which you would see on the uh, the TCL, 10 l and vice versa, but I'm kind of interested in the fact that this does not have a quad camera setup like the TCL 10 pro or the tcl10, which the tcl10l is actually about a couple about 150 less than this device about the same, build and same build quality and same uh structure and everything, although I feel like this one, does have a little of a better backing to it, a nice better looking backing, but even then the triple camera setup looks very nice uh. I'm going to go ahead and get this turned on. Let's see if this thing has battery life and see if it has any type of juice in it yeah it does so, while we're getting that set up this thing does let's take a look at what comes in the box here. Um again, it looks like there's another protective case in here.

I'm just going to verify really quick um and maybe not again, they sent that extra case to go with the actual device. So, let's usually see in the other boxes, like the tcl10 pro. I got a case now here. It's just a quick reference guide: wow, okay! So that's that's kind of interesting, quick reference guide with the sim card removal tool, I'm not going to remove it since it already has the sim card inside apparently again, it's just going to come with a type-c charger and the charging brick, which I believe probably is going to be somewhat of a faster charger, since it is a bigger uh battery. But again I will go ahead and correct myself in the review video.

So I'm going to put all this back really quick guys. I do apologize, I'm a big stickler for just putting all this back right and that's just how I am I'm going to put that back, and I'm going to go ahead and get this thing started up and again right. Just filling this thing in the hand it feels pretty good, uh, really quick. I will compare it uh. I will put it right next to a phone like the TCL uh revel 5g, so they just, just so that you guys can kind of see the uh the similarities and the devices hold on.

Let me go back there uh here's the revel 5g, which again has the cutout on the top left, and so does this device, so very similar devices. I mean if you, if I turn the phones around, which I will again, the only difference is obviously the rival 5g. Has the camera set up more like uh, what apple or Google has or even Samsung, and then again this specific device is going to have just that setup, but again fingerprint sensors in the same spot. The bottoms look pretty, pretty identical over here, especially with the USB type-c charger. The left-hand side looks exactly the same and then, of course, if you go to the other side which the pink is for the rival 5g, this one is again the TCL uh 10 5g UW.

So again, I'm going to put the ravel 5g aside for now. I am using that on T-Mobile and I will go ahead and get this set up. This would be my first Verizon 5g device all right, so I just got the device uh set up now, or at least uh logged into right, and I can tell you one thing that it's its got that TCL skin, that you would see on the TCL 10 pro and the uh, the tcl10l uh, the Rev 5g, has more of a stock android, look to it uh. So let's take a look at what this thing is running so far. I believe this is running android 10, if I'm not correct of it- does have NFC capability just for people who want to know- and I believe this is already set up with the Verizon sim card already installed in it.

So I will be able to hopefully get a 5g connection, although right now, if I can get that to lock on you, guys, can see that right there uh it's set up to only at 4g LTE right now, so I haven't hit an area yet uh where uh it's 5g, but I believe they're supposed to be 5g in my location, where I am so hold on. Let me go to display really quick. This thing: does this device stuff does have next vision, just like the other TCL products, so I just want you to be aware of that, so it does make the screen or the optimization of the screen look a little better uh. You can always turn these uh visual enhancements off right, but, for instance like if I wanted to change the color mode over here, I can change it to standard or leave it on vivid or default. You know what I mean like if I were to do this, you guys can kind of see that you know I'm changing the colors to either warm or cold, depending on how you want it to look, I'm just going to leave it in the middle again.

Furthermore, you know you can turn this off. If that's an option, you can just turn it off, and you can kind of you can tell right away that it does give you a visual enhancement from just turning it off and on so again. If you guys don't want your. If you don't want the colors to look so saturated, then I would definitely leave that off. I'm going to turn off adaptive, brightness, that's a mode that I hate, and I'm going to turn on dark mode, which is my favorite mode on all the android phones that have the actual device or whatever.

Let's go ahead and change the sleep to five minutes. So hopefully the battery on this actually lasts a little longer. Let me change the default font size a little higher, because I am blind and then let's go back to the system over here, which again we'll check out the version of android. So I this is what I love about. TCL, the TCL branded phones right is that you can actually uh.

It gives you information about the device like the model number, the CPU, which this one's uh sporting, a snapdragon, 765 g processor, which is the same processor that you would get in an uh the believe, the pixel uh. It's got a 48 megapixel main camera, eight megapixels and a five mix, five megapixels, which are going to be probably, like you know your telephoto lens and then your ultra-wide lens. A resolution on the device is a 1080p by 2340, six gigs of ram 128 gigs of storage, 4500 William battery. And, of course, if you guys are wondering what version of android there android 10 and again, the security patch level is August 1st of 2020. So this phone just came out um, I'm probably one of the last YouTubers to unbox it, but that's okay, but again for people that are really wanting to transition over to a 5g device.

This might be the device for you right and just going over bloatware apps or whatever it does come with the Verizon app being that this is a Verizon device, but I'm just super excited to compare it uh to devices like the tcl10 pro, because the 10 pro is their unlocked device and if it's a little more expensive. I believe um it has a little has a little few nuances that the phone doesn't have. So, for instance, the 10 pro has an AMOLED display. It has a curved screen, and it has a front uh fingerprint sensor, and it has, I believe it has some sort of like um like little features like the little um side thing. I can't even do it right now uh, but it just has like features that you wouldn't find on the rebel 5g or the TCL 105g UW, which is the ultrawide, but I'm going to have fun, comparing this device with the TCL 10 pro and the removal 5g.

Just because- and I wish I would have kept the TCL 10l, because I feel like that this device and the 5g or the revel 5g are the most similar to that device. But so far I can tell you the screen looks nice, nice and crisp, even though I believe it's just an IPS display, but again they look. They these screens look very nice, regardless whether they're, AMOLED or not- and I might correct myself on that. Maybe this is an AMOLED display. It looks very nice, though um, but I do see a little of washing this when I kind of turn it around left and over here and excuse any glare in the background guys right now again out of the actual box, though uh this does just come with a few Verizon apps, like the Verizon, the cloud app and, of course, just a few others um.

Nothing too crazy, though it's got your typical YouTube. Uh, it's got, Candy Crush, which I don't know. If that's a pre-installed vm or not, these might just be apps that are showing, but a lot of the times. They are just kind of eye candy for you. So again, other utilities include crossword puzzle, news break.

It does have a little of bloatware. It does have a word trip. I don't know what any of those apps are, but again you can change this, I'm sure the TCL custom ability uh is, you know you can change this layout and whatever you want to look at by name by label, sorting, let's go by name right. We just leave it like that right. That looks a little better, but again just you know using the phone it does feel a little snappy or very snappy actually with the snapdragon 765 g and the thing about these mid-range devices.

Guys is they're getting better like you know, cheap phones are getting good, and you know more expensive phones are just kind of like, so you know I really enjoy the fact that uh these uh- I guess these, I would say mid-range phones right, they're, not lowering their mid-range phones. They look a lot better, and they're feeling a lot better. My only thing is, you know, I'm a big advocate of smaller screens. So again, this is like a six point. Almost a 6.5 inch display uh 6.53 inch touch display, which you know, I'm not a huge fan of the the huge displays, but you know it doesn't have a notch on top does have a little of a chin on the bottom, though, if you guys look at that, I love the background. I love the back.

I love the red background and that's why I have red going on over here. Just so, you guys can kind of see uh but again built wise. You know it's very it's not it's not a thin phone to say the least, see if I can get that to focus here, um, nothing crazy! Here on the side, though, you know you have your volume rocker and the power button on the right hand, side- and it's really not like anything to gawk at or anything like that, like the Rev 5g, which is again from T-Mobile, does have that pink uh power button here and this one actually does light up uh when you when, when you do something or when you're charging, or you get a notification, it does light up. Let's take a look to see how fast the cam of the fingerprint sensor works. Very quick.

I only have one finger set up, but it's relatively quick guys, so I'm just very excited to kind of test. The camera out on this device check out what this device has to offer and then we'll go from there. But if you guys have any questions or comments in the towel section down below, go ahead and hit me up as always guys. I want to again thank TCL for sending this product out to me to test out. I'm definitely uh, hopefully can test out the network speeds versus T-Mobile, since this is a Verizon device.

Furthermore, I do have visible mobile, also, which runs off of Verizon as well, but I do not have a 5g enabled phone for that. So again guys. This is mike from tech review signing off again, if you, like my channel, don't forget to smash that like button. If you guys love my channel again, don't forget to subscribe as and as always we'll see, you all next time, thanks again for watching you.
