TCL 10 5G UW 'Unboxing' and First Impressions - 5G for $399.

What's up guys in the university taking a look at the TCL 10, 5g UW big, shout out to TCL for sending us out for review. Like always all opinions are my own, so you guys know. Usually I would unbox the phone I'll do an unboxing and first impressions, video of the phone. I tried that and trust me. I did. Furthermore, I recorded a bunch of videos all at once.

So hey! Let me take this one weekend to record a bunch of videos all at once and then edit them throughout the week in between classes. I thought that'd be a great idea, but then, when I went to go edit those videos, each video looked legitimately like it was shot in five frames per second, so I have to re-record each video, and I've been trying to fit them in between doing stuff. So here we go first up. This is the TCL 10 5g UW, like I said, big shout out to TCL for sending one out for review, so they sent out the press box pretty normal, pretty standard here, along with the phone, the spec case, which is what's on this phone right here and a TCL um microfiber cloth. You know you can never have too many microfiber cloths, so uh, let's, let's take a look at the phone.

So obviously I don't have the unboxing anymore, sorry, but I will take a look at what was inside this box. So this time around, you actually get no case, which is kind of sad with my TCL 10l. It was a Canadian unit and I didn't get a case either also still kind of sad uh, though with the American version. It did come with the case, not to sure about the European version of the 10 5g, whether it comes to the case, but the UW version does not come with the case. So lets uh pull out this box here.

This box contains all the standard. What you normally find uh the phone will come with a sim card because it is the 5g UW version. Oops, took that out, though, replaced with my own Verizon sim card. All your quick reference guides safety procedure, all the Verizon stuff too in there, and then you do get a sim uh ejector, which I didn't realize the first time around. I don't know how I didn't realize that, but, like I said no case in this box, unlike the TCL 10 pro and the American version of the TCL canal, so then the bomb this box- you get a pair, I don't know a pair, not a pair of anything um, a wire, a wireless charger, a charger, a cable, a cable for a charger um, and it is USB type-c.

This actually is pretty nice braided cable material, which is good. I like that. I like seeing that uh. This cable should last you a lot longer than most of the cables that you get free for the phones, so that's nice, and then you get this brick. I believe this is 18 watts.

Don't yell me if I'm wrong, it's 18, watts, 18 watts. I think it's 18 watts. I believe it's Qualcomm's quick charge, 4.0 all the standard stuff that you can. You can imagine there, but not bad for this phone. This phone is actually 3.99, which is pretty crazy when you think about it, um just how low cost this phone is. It is, if I'm not mistaking the lowest cost, 5g UW device that you can get, and it's the lowest cost 5g device you can get in the United States.

Now I believe the t now TCL, the um T-Mobile level- is also fairly cheap. I'm not too sure what the uh price point on that is T-Mobile level 5g. I don't think the T-Mobile level 5g is a rebranded tcl105g. Furthermore, I don't think so. Furthermore, I know some T-Mobile levels series this year, where we read TCL phones, but I don't think the 5g one is so like I was saying this is the device I've been using it for approximately a week now, a little over a week now after having actually unboxed it and not being able to, you know, share the video I've been using for about a week now, so I have a little of input.

This is like my kind of like week, um my one-week opinions. I don't usually like doing one-week opinions because after a certain time, it starts to kind of work into a review right. What you your opinions on the phone in general, so we're just going to talk a little like kind of pretty basic about it, because I don't want this to be the review. This is not the review um. I actually just took out my Verizon sim card out of this phone like not yesterday two days ago, maybe um, because I want to do something.

Another phone and I have to you, know, switch it back, but this is the phone. I've been using for approximately two weeks, so, let's talk a little about it. This phone is 399. It actually was on sale for five dollars a month, uh with Verizon on Black Friday. It might actually still be on sale if I'm not mistaken, might still be there for five dollars a month.

That's a crazy deal if you're looking for a good phone that has to 5g with the ultra-wide band 5. This is not just Verizon's nationwide network I've been using it on Verizon's nationwide 5g network, which is not the ultra-fast. You know ultra-wideband network, but it has actually been fairly fast. I'm getting around 150 150 to 100, like 70 megabits per second, which I've seen some T-Mobile tests. I've had like two to four hundred megabits per second, so it's not topping those T-Mobile tests, I've seen um, but it has been fairly good.

Furthermore, I usually run around 40 to 70 megabits per second on 4g with Verizon. So getting a hundred extra megabytes on there is pretty telling of your know. Even the lower cost to lower speed.5G networks are an improvement over current 4g LTE, so I had a pretty good exam, pretty good experience. I'll save more of my 5g experience for the review, because what I realized after Verizon sent me a text after I reinstated my sim card um. You know I took an app to reinsert it.

They said that you know you're using a ford Jason card in a 5g phone you're, not getting the full benefit, so I'm not too sure what difference it makes. It probably does make some sort of difference um and I will order a phone 5g sim card. That's activated with my phone on already I'm assuming I can activate the one that's in the box, but I'm just going to order a new one through Verizon after I get some stuff fixed up with the account. So let's talk about the actual phone itself after I just gave the whole big thing on the 5g working fine for me so far, but we'll talk more about that in the review. So this phone has a six point.

Five three inches uh um LCD. It's not an OLED LCD uh. We do get that dot display. I believe TCL is calling out a dodge display. Okay, I'll just call it the hole punch on top um, it's actually a fairly good um.

Looking display. I was a little shocked to see how large the bottom bezel is. It's really not that big, like in the grand scheme of things, it's not that big, but I seem larger to me than the tcl10l. For some reason I don't know, but the actual bezel around the whole thing is actually fairly good. This phone is thick, it's definitely thicker than the 10l, and it's heavy, and a lot of that has to go to the fact that this phone has the ultra-wide band antennas in it.

So it's going to make it a little thicker it's going to make it a little heavier, but it also feels more premium to an extent because of that heavy and weakness of the phone. So we had that 5.3 inch. Um is that this isn't an oled, is it? I don't think this is a one. No it's IP IPS, so it's LCD, uh hdr10 display, looks good. It looks pretty sharp.

I really like TCL's displays. I've like TCS displays on the 10 pro uh 10 l and this phone is no different um the display looks good. You have a lot of display settings. You can change around in the settings I'll talk more about that in the full review, but the display looks good on this phone. I'm not upset about it.

It's good! You have to remember this phone's 300, I mean 400. , you know, so it's very hard to kind of be mad at any display, but as well. This thing is perfect. Tc knows what they're doing when it comes to displays. Uh the batteries, 4 500 William hours, that's pretty good! I've gotten, you know a day, probably could go a little over a day, uh worth of usage from the phone pretty standard.

Again, though, we're talking about a 300 million dollar phone, so again, very good um versus the European model of this phone. This actually only has three cameras. I believe the TCL 105g has four cameras on the back of it, and the main sensor on here is only 48 megapixels. I believe the tcl105g, the European version, has 64 megapixels, so we're talking a little downgrade on the camera versus the European version, which I'm not too happy about. Furthermore, I don't love different versions for different phones, but this is what we get.

Furthermore, I guess that's the kind of trade-off with having the ultra-wideband 5g, which a lot of people aren't going to use. So it's a little of a trade-off, but it's its the trade-off, so we're going to have to live with it. We have the snapdragon 765 g in this phone, like I've, said multiple times this year like multiple times. I really hope more companies start putting these processors into the phones, the TCL I mean the snapdragon 765 g this year. I've used multiple phones with a 765g unit, wonderful processor, it's their midline processor.

It's a wonderful processor! You really don't realize that you're using a mid-range processor when you're using one of these phones with 765g, so I'm really happy that TCL put it in there. I believe that Google, in fact put it in the pixel 5 as well. The 765g- and I said earlier this year. I would not be unhappy to see some flagship phones with the 765g: it cuts cost it has 5g and the experience is perfect. You don't really notice that you're not using a flagship processor when you're using the 765g um, one of our phones have the 765 the um, the lg velvet had g in it.

The um. I said that the Galaxy Note 20 probably should have had the 765 g in it, but they didn't do that so uh Kyle upsetting that phone in general is upsetting. So let's not talk about the phone, though, because we're talking about the TCL um, what else big on this phone does it have? Of course, this phone is with Verizon's network. You can tell by all the Verizon below where I forgot about the bloatware um, so my Verizon, all the Verizon bloatware. Some of these things might be good if you actually use Verizon but for the most part, probably not uh.

This is bloatware uh. Most of all, this is bloatware, except speediest and Snapchat. I think Instagram is already on there. Speed test and Snapchat aren't bloatware uh, but for the majority we have a lot of bloatware on this phone. That's gonna, be that's gonna, be the thing when you're buying a carrier, locked phone and sadly this currently only comes in the carrier- locked variety with Verizon, so you have to deal with the bloatware.

If you do want this phone and there is a good amount of it, I think there might be less bloatware on the Verizon phone than a t, but it's not a very far off uh competition. Here all the standard on this phone, you know android 10 um. I think we're talking six gigabits of ram from not mistaken. Yes, it's gigabits around. That's not bad uh.

It hasn't been bad. In my over week of usage uh the front is grilled glass. The back is gorilla glass, I believe as well um sides. I believe they might be plastic, but they could also be metal. Give me a second, no, I think, they're metal, I think, they're, like an um, a painted, aluminum yeah.

I think they're aluminum. That's pretty good, though good. That's pretty good, though um. That's pretty good, though, because an aluminum on this price point again, it's a pretty well-built phone for those price points. It has a weight to it.

Uh has a good display. Um has the whole punch. Camera on top has fairly thin bezels. You know, except for the, but I think the bottom would be a little thinner, but it's not bad um aluminum build glass back. The glass back is perfect.

I haven't showed that to you guys yet glass back um we're talking again 400. This might be my favorite and my most recommended 400. Even if you don't have 5g- and you don't have you know the ultra-wideband service, this might be one of my most recommendable in the United States.5G phone, not 5g any phone, any budget phone in this 400 category. This might be the best one to pick up at this point in the United States. If you want to work with Verizon, of course, if you don't have Verizon, it's a little hard to recommend, but if you want to work with Verizon you're going to have to uh, I think this is the best option that you have actually, so this is the back and if you guys can see which you probably can't unless I move this light over here, this pattern on the back is crazy.

Look at that! This is glass on the back. By the way, I believe it is gorilla glass. Look at that pattern on the back. Not only is the color crazy, but just look at that. Like diamond reflective, that's I don't know one of my favorite patterns of this year there's been a lot of good patterns that come out in the past two years for back panels.

This is probably my favorite, so I think they've done. Good TCL has done a wonderful job with the phone design over this year right they had. These are some of the first TCL branded phones, but they have been making phones for a while now uh the TCL 10 5g, the tc10l and TCL 10. Pro awesome, looking phones, I think, they're again, like I said some of my favorite uh phones in terms of budget cost and terms of availability in the United States and in terms of design. I did a perfect job for these.

You know lower cost phones on design this year. So overall, my impressions of TCL, 10 5g over the first week of usage, are pretty good. I've had no problems with this one. I've been using this phone. You know in my pocket.

All's good um everything. I've been expecting from TCL phone from trying to other CCL phones this year, everything I'm expecting from TCL phones happening with this film um. I am a little iffy on the cameras, and I know it's going to surprise some people, because I set the l and 10 pro cameras were pretty good in my reviews. Um. So that's going to surprise some people, but I think I might like the tcl10 pro and 10 l cameras a little better than this one, so I'm going to have to use it a little more, but I'm going to leave you guys on that controversial note that um that cameras, I'm still still considering using them a little, but otherwise I'm liking the phone in general.

I think the phone is a know somewhat. It could be a flagship replaced in the United States but, more importantly, it's a really solid budget option for those who are looking for 400 options in the United States. There's not many styled options. I've said this so many times this year, and so many more solid options have come out this year. You know the SC got the 4a 485 g, all these solid options.

This is still a perfect solid option. To pick up. If you're in the United States, you want a 5g phone, you want to have you know the ultra-wide band? Just you know, so you have it now. So if you know you're not had to upgrade a phone like a year or two um anyway, this has a lot of strengths going for it right now, especially if they got Verizon. If you got you know, 5g, all this stuff has a lot of strength for this phone right now at its price point.

So I'm really happy with this phone uh we'll do the full review in about two weeks or so I can get another two weeks or so of usage from this phone thanks guys for watching I'll leave a link in the description, so you can check it out. I think it's still on sale for five dollars a month. So if you just don't want to check out the review just want to buy it for five dollars a month, you can go check it out on Verizon five dollars a month when you finance, you might have to start a new line enough. So you have to look in that yourself I'll leave the link down in the description. So you check it out thanks for watching.
