Sony Xperia XZ3 vs Huawei Mate 20 Pro | Side-by-side comparison By Tech Spurt

Hello you rather attractive stunning people. This is Chris from Tex bet, and I'm here to do a side by side with Sony's Xperia exit, 3 and wow is mate.20, Pro, I'm going to compare their camera tech, the performance battery life, everything you need to know to see which one might be best for you. Of course, MWC 2019 is just around the corner, so we're likely to see the Xperia x8 4 from Sony and the new P 30 from Huawei. That I'll potentially mean a price drop for both of these handsets and if you do see them on a deal, I'd say slap them up because they are not gonna, be shown their age any time soon. Now. Stick them side-by-side like this, and you'll, see that the Xperia x10 3 and the while we're mates 20 pro are more or less the same dimensions.

Same height, same weight, the Xperia x10 3 has a slightly more girth to it, but there's really not that much in it. However, as you can see there once you get a lighter background on the goal, the Xperia x, head, 4 has much thicker bezels above and below the power compared with the Wyatt mid 20 bras. To be perfectly honest, we still love the look of the Xperia x8 4. It's definitely more unique, while all the other smartphones these days are trying to fill that front, but there's much display as possible. The Xperia x8 for at least retains a bit of that sort of traditional candy boss, the island and of course it does mean you only get a 6-inch display compared with a 6.4 inch here on them. While we meet 20 bros, is that going to be a deal-breaker for us, it's not, but for some it might flip around to the back and I absolutely love the rear design on both of these smartphones, so he's experienced, except for especially in this burgundy model, just oozes class look absolutely gorgeous stunning finish: lovely curves as well, so just bends refract the light, as you can see, they're very easy on the eye indeed, and the while we mate 20 port as well.

Sports Wow is a now gradient finish, which first emerged on the p20 port continued into the mid 20 series. So, as you can see, they're lighter covers up to the top delving into a sort of darker hue down here again nice pleasing curves at the edges as well. So it feels good in the hand both one such were pretty rugged as well. A couple of light scratches cropping up here and there, but not bad consumer who had them for a few months, and they've generally been bashed about and punished both on the ip68 or water and dust resistant as well as the noise. If you want to use them in the bath, take them into the pool stuff like that.

Of course, you will notice that the Xperia exit 3 has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. That's something you don't get here on the mid 24. It's actually built into the display itself and I guess the exit 3 is built slightly awkwardly in the middle of the forum. So you want to be sort of tapping around here where the camera lens is. It takes a little of adjustment, but eventually you get to grips with it, and you learn to sort of tap a little lower down scoot your finger down as it were, and the good news is its nice and nippy as well.

A quick tap- and you are straight into your desk- tops the meet 20 pauses. The finger bends definitely wins. The wow factor is actually built into that display itself, and sometimes it works really, really well and other times. It just refuses to recognize my print at all. It sort of depends on what kind of mood it's in what the lighting conditions are like you've got to learn exactly how hard to press on the display as well.

Otherwise, it just does not accept it. So it's one of those sort of hit-and-miss Affairs, not quite as responsive as the physical sensor, but can't fault the sexiness. So let's move on to that display Tech and both these panels actually are all LED displays. It's Ali's. First, all there to be found on a smartphone here on the Xperia exit, three slightly smaller at 6 inches, compared with a six point.

Three nine inches to be precise here on the mid-20 Pro they're, both quad HD plus panel. So that means a nice crisp detail. If you're browsing your photos, checking out video, as you can see, they're impressive when you're viewing back your images terms of the color reproduction as well. All those are generally nice and punchy. They really bring out those vivid hues.

These are in their default color settings and the moms of standard mode here on the exit, 3 and the vivid mode here on the Maui, it meets 20 props as usually they are very similar in terms of the output. If we do dive it into the display settings, you can actually play around so, for instance, if we took the exit 3 into its super vivid mode, you'll notice that suddenly a lot of those colors are really a lot more punchy. The yellows, the Pink's, certainly really pop off the display more than they used to. So if you want a more stunning effect rather than more natural hues, that's definitely the ones who go for. Alternatively, took the eggs, a between 2 professional modes, very good news.

If you like to edit photos on the go on the mid 20 poor, you can drop it down into normal mode. If, again, you prefer more realistic hues and, of course, you've got the likes of the comfort mode and the night modes here on both smartphones as well just to make things a bit easier on the eye at nighttime and as you'd expect from a premium smartphone. That's full support for each to you're streaming from the likes of Netflix. We're supported roughly those visuals when you watch a nice bit Netflix or something like that. Really shop vivid contrast, really, nice, realistic images, great looking stuff and one feature of Sony's.

That's impressed us for a long time. Now is the ex reality software engine. What this does are basically just boost the quality of the visuals on any fewer videos that you have, so it can bring those SDR videos up to almost itch to your level and really boost the other likes the colors and everything as well. So, as you can see, hopefully see the difference between off and on it, just brightens up the visuals a bit and just produces nicer, looking contrast, and it can also boost the detail levels as well, really impressive stuff, but one feature which the mid-20 Pro house, which the Xperia x10 3 doesn't, is the ability to change the screen resolution. If you stick it on smart, it can actually do this automatically for you and what I do is it just doubles down the resolution when it's not necessary to have those really crisp images just to save on the battery a bit.

Now when it comes to your audio, you get a stereo speaker setup on both of these smartphones. You get a nice powerful audio on top volume. So no problems. If you just watch it a bit YouTube. So I know that I still wouldn't recommend listening to music through the actual built-in speakers, though, obviously because you get quite a tinny experience, you have a bit of Dolby Atmos support here on that, while we admit 24, but when it comes to the audio, the Sony Xperia exit 3 is definitely our favorite support for high-res audio and everything.

One of our favorite features is the see edge X feature what this can do. As you can see, there is upgrade the quality of any compressed tracks that you have any old music. That's stuck away on a drive that you just can't be without, and it makes it sound much more. Full-Bodied really breathe fresh life into it and good news a fuse wireless headphones instead, because the built-in el doc makes your music sound apps that you fantastic as well again, really rich and full-bodied. The bad news, however, is that neither these smartphones has a 3.5 millimeter headphone jacks. So if you do want to plug in an old pair of wide phones, you're going to have to use a USB dongle boo.

Now. Both of these smartphones are, of course, running Android Google's mobile OS, but the reason they have different features is the fact that they have a different over this sat on top. So you see here, they're both run an Android version, 9 Android pie, but Sony's, of course, added its own overlay on top, and you've got wires on a motion. UI in this case version 9.0 point 0 sat on top of that Android OS general functionality does basically remain the same law. You can swipe along to get to your Google headlines and assistant and everything.

You've also, of course, got a fault apps tray, so you can bury all of your stuff away out of sight. Donuts have it all spread across the desktop which I absolutely hate notification panel can, of course, be fully edited to add in any shortcuts that you particularly love. However, you will notice quite a few little differences once you start to dive into the sentence for one the sorting Xperia x, f3 you're, stuck with this navigation dock down at the bottom of the screen. In order to call up your recent apps go back home and everything, but here on the mid-20 poor you've got the option of using gesture navigation. Instead, what this allows you to do is basically just swipe up from the bottom.

In order to go back to your home screen, you can swipe up and hold in order to call up your recent apps and, if you're, actually in an app already, you can just swipe like sort to go back. It's nice and convenient I really, really like it. It's a shame. You don't seem to get it here on the experience exit 3. That said, you do at least get a 100 mode on both of these smartphones.

It really helps out because they are rather big beasts that just allows you to busy shrink down your desktops. You can use your apps in this mode as well. Just makes everything much easier in order to skip about and use when you do only have the one hand free. One of the other big differences is the fact that wow it has its dedicated facial recognition onboard the mid-20 pro. This just allows you to bypass that into split fingerprint sensor, which is always a bonus just give it a little tap on it recognizes your mug, and you're straight into your desktops.

Is surprisingly quick and efficient, even in low-light, it works really nicely. It's only really fooled by sunglasses things like that. Of course, you don't get that option on the Xperia exit 3. There is a form of facial recognition in the form of. If you want, the smart, lock, you'll see, Google's trusted fits in there, but frankly, it's a bit pant and apparently is very easy to hack as well just for the photo of you so frankly, I'd say steer well clear of that one on the flip side with a sauna, you do get the PS4 Remote Play feature, which is fantastic.

If you do have a PS4 in your home, you can stream your gaming session to the smartphone over your Wi-Fi. If you get the little controller adapter as well, you can actually get attached it to the DualShock controller, and it's a fantastic portable game and setup, because you can only really use it about the home. It's not designed to work outside the house or data or anything like that, but actually does the job if you just want to play that you've got a war in your boxers in bed or something like that, and especially again, if your kids are always high Jackie, the fricking TV like minor. No, when it comes to performance, is a kiss of a Snapdragon. It 4/5 hit on the Xperia texture.

Three bucks buy 4 gigs of ram versus Huawei's on Kara 980 chips out here on the mid-20 pro backed by six gigs of ram. The good news is that both of these smartphones perform absolutely perfectly. You know, apps just load up the instant you tap very, very, very rare, to see any kind of slows. I, don't see the odd little stutter stumble here on the mid, mostly thanks to the immune software feel like occasionally, it can be a little clunky, but on the whole, you can absolutely blast through the likes of pub G and no problem whatsoever. Fantastic frame rate you actually get Wow is GPU turbo feature here to maintain a consistent frame rate, not that it really needs it, because that cure 980 is a powerhouse for any benchmark enthusiasts out.

There I have run a bit of Geek bench for both of these smartphones. As you can see, the Xperia exit 3 is trilling a bit behind at the mid 20 Paul. That's no surprise. As the killer 980 chipsets is much fresher. It came out almost a year after the Snapdragon it 4/5.

So that's the kind of performance boost you would expect from it, but I'd be surprised at the Xperia exit 3 as a seer shows any kind of slow down anytime. Soon, that's from battery and I have to say the one with me at 20. Pro is definitely the victor in that area as well. It's absolutely stunning. You can generally get 2 days of life from a full charge, and you'll easily make it through a full day, even if your non-stop game in Skype and doing all of that good stuff.

But the reason is the fact that it's a mighty 4200 William cell, compared with the 3300 packed here and the Xperia x8 3, and also watching you I just generally seems very energy efficient. Of course, you've got the usual power saving modes when this gets stamina mode here on the Xperia exit 3. If you do find that you're struggling and the good thing about the Sony, is you do get the battery care queue novel feature as well? What this does are it just ensures your battery doesn't overcharge if you're leaving it plugged in overnight. We've seen any kind of degradation on any Sony smartphone that we've tested for the past few years, even over months and months and months, you'll still get a consistent performance set. The mid-20 bra haven't seen any struggles there either.

You do also get a bit of QI wireless charging with both of these handsets and in fact, in the case of the mid 24, you get reverse wireless charging as well, which actually allows you to charge up another phone which supports wireless charging using the mate 20 Pro, which is frankly bonkers, but actually pretty neat and in terms of chosen, the warrior has it in the bag as well with its forty watts, supercharged that'll power you back up in just over an hour, despite the fact that it's a really high capacity battery. That's the storage! Well, it's less of time on this one, because I thought the experience. X said: three has less storage by default: 64 gigs, built-in Come, with 128 gigs here on the mid-20 pro the experience exit 3, does support standard micro, SD up to 512, gigs I, believe it was so you basically sorted there and the case the mid-20 port it sports Wow, is on standard of memory cards which we're going to get a review sample of very shortly apparently but yeah. Obviously, if you've got any micro STIs kicking around, they will not work in the mid-20 Pro, all of which brings us onto the camera tech and in terms of sheer number of lenses that, while we emit 24, definitely has it in the bag. There.

It's got a trial headset up here on the rear, so 40 megapixels, RGB, lens F, 1.8, that's backed by a 20 megapixel, ultra wide-angle lens and an 8 megapixel telephoto lens, whereas sorry smartphone, the Xperia x10 3 Mister, was just a single 19 megapixel F 2.0 motion high camera. If we dive on into Sony and Huawei's camera apps you'll see they offer a very different set up as well sauna. You basically got your photo mode and your video modes, and you've also got a handful of bonus modes as well. Not many! It's all compared with here on the mid ready for you, but absolutely tons of different modes that you can flip between and then even more stuffed away in a side menu. Now the Xperia x8 threes, auto mode does a really nice job of producing a nice clean, crisp.

Look and photos really boosts those more vivid, natural colors just makes them look really, really nice, but without appearing too artificial you're on the mid-20 port, you've actually got a bit more control of it. All. You can leave on the mastery eye mode, which will shoot again, some really nice-looking photos, or you can knock that off. If you prefer more natural images. Of course, you do get full Pro controls on both of these smartphones as well.

If you actually know a little about photography, you know how to adjust the ISO levels. The shutter speed the white balance in order to get a really nice-looking photo in any conditions. So you get a dedicated portrait mode as well here on the mid-20. Porsche makes use the multi lens setup in order to keep your subject nice and crisp all blown in the background. You don't actually get a standard portrait mode on the rear lens here on the Xperia exit 3, what you get instead as a portrait selfie mode which does a pretty good job, considering it's just again a single lens setup, and you can shoot a portrait selfie here.

The mid-20 pro as well, if you like, weather, meet 20 people really has a superior angle over the experience. Ed 3 is, of course, the trial and setup. That means you can zoom in using the hybrid up to 5 times zoom. If you want to get a nice close shot of a distant subject, keep them nice and detailed. Otherwise, you can swap to that ultra wide-angle setup.

If you want to capture a bit more in the scene where the Xperia Exit Through, you can oppose zoom in using the digital, zoom and I actually produce this fairly sharp results. It does a good job of filling in some gaps and sort of cleaning up the image, but it still can't quite compare to a level of quality set by the mid-20 pool and in terms of the night shots as well and the general form or both fawns, that will capture a nice detailed shot, even in low-light circumstances, occasionally xf3 dozen, fortunately blow out some of those lights at areas and a cityscape as the mid-20 pretends not to, and of course here on, the mid-20 probably got Wally's dedicated night mode. As well, which produces absolutely stunning shots in those little light environments when it comes to the video mode, those Sony can shoot.4K, HDR footage- and it looks absolutely stunning in chief, ok, video here on the mid-20 pull as well, but there's no HDR option still 4k videos do look very good image. Stabilization on both smartphones is top-notch. If we dodge back into the photo more, you do, of course, get a front facing camera with both of these blowers.

It's a 13 megapixel here on the Sony, Xperia x8 3, and it's a 24 megapixel here on the Huawei Mate 20 pro captures nice crisp results. In both cases, you've got the usual beauty mode shenanigans and all that, if that's your bag, so Jesus yeah. This is my just got out of bed luck, basically great stuff, and so that right there in a nutshell, is Sony's. Xperia exit 3 compared with more meets 20 port. Definitely two of my favorite flagship phones around right now, as we charge into 2019 and very excited to see what happens at MWC 2019 with the experiencing said, 4 and Huawei's p 30, hopefully seeing the light of day.
