Sony Xperia 10 II Review: Not Good.

Here's, what I hope you guys all healthy and safe it's a relatively beautiful day today, sunny day, but it is also very hot, but it's always hot in Hong Kong. So, a few days ago, I reviewed the Sony Xperia 1 mark 2, even though I didn't think that phone was like the best enjoy the round. I really respected it, because Sony did several things with that was unique and stood out from the rest of the pack. Unfortunately, that phone was a little expensive at 1200 US dollars and not everyone can pay that price. So for those of you who want a Sony phone, but don't want to pay that much there's this the Xperia 10 mark 2. This is a mid-tier device or for Sony standards, our budget device.

It starts at two thousand five hundred Hong Kong dollars, that's about three hundred US dollars, but that's in Hong Kong in US and Europe you're going to get marked up a little, so you're picking up an around three hundred and seventy US dollars. So yeah, it's not expensive, but it's definitely not that cheap either. It's mid-tier device. Okay. So let's talk about what's good with the Xperia 10 Mark 2.

So first you have a six inch 1080p OLED display. So it's all a panel which is good colors are very vibrant. Although outdoor visibility is above average, it's not bad, but I'm. Definitely not the brightest OLED panel around, but you can still see it pretty clearly. This aspect ratio is also 21 by 9, like several Sony phones and I, like if it's taller and narrower than usual.

It only measures 2.7 inch from left to right, like the whole device, so I mean I, can wrap my hand and fingers all the way around the phone and that's crucial in Hong Kong, where the city is packed, and I'm, always walking around with one hand on phone with another hand, holding a camera or a cup of coffee or something, and so this is just a more secure grip, you're. Also getting a Gorilla Glass back I believe this Gorilla Glass 5. So it's not the newest version, but it's still more shadow resistance than typical glass backs from phones are a few years ago, and also just the fact that you get a glass back in mid-tier entry-level Sony device, because the previous model of this phone to Opera, 10, I, guess mark 1 only had a plastic back, and it felt pretty cheap. Overall construction of this phone feels Premium. All the buttons are pretty click.

You have a headphone jack, and then you have that removable SIM tray on the left and volume rockers on the right, along with a side mount a fingerprint scanner, there's also a 3600 million power battery inside which is enough to power. This relatively small phone all day with no issues. What else is good to software? You have a spotless bill to enjoy 10 here. It's mostly stock Sony adds some minor additions on top like the side cents. Menu that you can bring up but for the most part, is a clean, build of Android 10, that's about it.

As far as good things, I can say about this phone because everything else about this phone ranges from mediocre to downright bad, we're going to start with the camera. So the Xperia 10 mark you as a triple camera system, and I'm by a 12 megapixel main camera, with an aperture of f/4 now and an image sensor size of one over one point: two: eight inch now, whether it's the aperture size or the image sensor size, they are both relatively weak by 2020 standards and not just compared to flagship phones, but even to mid-tier devices like the Poco after you pull, the secondary cameras are also relatively mediocre. You have an 8 megapixel, ultra-wide camera and an 8 megapixel telephoto zoom lens that can do up to 2x zoom. Now my biggest problem with this phone is the shutter speed is just to them slow. Basically, whenever I tap the photo shutter button, I have to wait like a beat like not quite half a second, maybe a quarter of a second before the photo will actually snap an image.

So you see that way. It's kind of slow. This isn't a big deal if you're taking pictures of stationary things like right now, but earlier I'll try and take a picture of this flower, but because it was a little windy. The flower kept moving, and it wasn't moving very fast. It wasn't moving like this.

You know it was just going like this, and this camera just could not grab a clear shot of the flower because it was moving too fast for this slow-ass shutter speed. Now then I'm, currently using the Galaxy Note tennis I'm a daily driver now, so I ripped out the Galaxy Note n1 tap I got a clear image. So not the second problem of this camera is exposure. When you're taking pictures of relatively challenging lighting conditions like right now worth its backlight backlit situation, the Sun is setting, so is shining too directly at the lens. So if I shoot with a Sony, Xperia 10 mark 2, you notice that I have no choice but to either properly expose the sky.

But everything else like this building is completely drenched in shadow, or I can highlight the building a little but blow out the sky. The sky is completely blown out washed now. I can fix exposure a little of the style, but there is no getting around it like. There is no no way to properly balance. Both this building and the sky I have to, at the very least blow out the sky a little.

If I want to see this building at all, there's just no way around it now same thing. If I bring out the Gaussian, no 10 I, don't even really have to think I just bring out the phone just tap once, and I get an image. That's properly balanced, the sky is not blown out, and I can see the details of the building. Now you might be thinking it's not fair, to compare a mid-tier device against a flagship, but it's not like the Gaussian no.10, it's a new flagship. This is almost a year old and to be honest, even a year ago, when this form was new, the camera system on here was just pretty good, but not the best I would say.

Even a year ago, the YP Tony probe was a better camera. The Google Pixel 4 was a better camera. The iPhone 11 peaks was a better camera right now, if I were to rank my best smartphone cameras, the Galaxy Note and even be in the top six or seven, so I, don't think it's that unfair, a comparison and, to be honest, the exposure situation and the shutter speed situation here is so bad that, even if I test it against a phone, that's in this price range like a poke where to quote hell not even the FT Pro, just a Poco f2 or like the Realme 6, this phone is stoking and loose. This camera is just not competitive for this price range hell, it's like competitive for the $200 price range, not the other lenses are pretty bad to the wide-angle camera. Basically, you need to use it under well-lit conditions.

If you use that night, it photos are just going to turn out a blurry mess. Now, as for the zoom camera, you can go up to 2 X optical zoom. For some reason. This TOEFL zoom lens really struggle to keep focus, as you can see here when I go up to exhume and not just snap the image 50% of the time, the image will come out blurry and not in focus the zoom lens here just really struggles to focus on a subject. The camera disappointment carries over to video performance, so there's no stabilization whatsoever to speak up, as you can see here.

Is this jerky as hell whenever I walk so anyway, I'll shut up now and show you more photo samples, as you can see. Generally speaking, this camera really struggles with exposure and colors just turns out a little dull and a lot of photos are our focus. Now I promise to you, I'm not trying to mess up the photos on purpose I like Sony cameras, I used two of them right now, but it's just this camera the Xperia T, my tooth can adjust sucks. Okay, now I feel kinda bad trashing, this phone this badly. So let's go over some good stuff.

Again, you do get ip68 water resistance here, which is pretty good. You don't get that in many other budgets, Chinese phones at this price range- and you do get a pretty good loudspeaker, even though it's only single bottom, fine speaking, but the position is right here instead of at the bottom of the phone, so you actually can't muffle it see you can't muffle speaker, and it gets pretty loud, even if it is not a stereo speaker. Now it's for overall performance, this phone runs on a snapdragon 665 with four gigs of ram. So, as you probably already know, these specs and components are not top and at all they're pretty under power by 2020. For the most part, you can run any app on this phone fine, but when you play graphically intensive game, you have to lower it to the lowest setting and sometimes earlier when I was running, YouTube and Twitter.

At the same time, the phone started a little like not didn't quite freeze, but it basically lagged for like four or five seconds before I could close to apps I. Think there's not enough RAM in here when you open apps. Sometimes you have to wait like half a second before things load: it's not a bad performing phone, but it is not fast by any means. Oh, and if you care about benchmarks, this phone scored a 313 single core and a 1375 multicore. Now, ultimately, what I recommend the Sony Xperia 10 mark to two people in Hong Kong hell? No, there are much, much better phones at this similar price point or even lower, but the silver lining for Sony is that Sony is also selling this phone in Japan and in the US and in those markets they don't have access to something like a Poco f2 or on the xxx or RED me6.

So for those people, then you know the competition, it's a lot less. Then. That means this phones appeal grows a little more, although I would still say if you live in the U. S. of Japan, you might as well get an iPhone.

Se too. It's going to give you much better performance than this and a similar price point or any of Samsung's mid-tier offerings like the Samsung, a 70 or 80 I get confused by all Samsung's a number, but there is also another market for whom this form I hold great appeal. So, as you guys probably know right now, China, you know China's kind of like a controversial political power right now. The US Hong Kong and India are quite mad at China right now, so there are a lot of people in India or Hong Kong or the US, who are very much like I'm, not using Chinese phones like ban Chinese phones, so for you, people, the Sony, Xperia 10 Marty might be worth considering because you're not gonna, consider a Poco or Realme or read me, but for people like me or for anyone, who's open to using Poco Realme read me major ZTE, Nubia IQ VIVO in opal honor. You know any of these dozens of Chinese brands.

This phone is a no-go. The value factor is just too damn low. So anyway, that's about it for this review.
