What's happening panda nation on the great googly-moogly I finally got my new iPhone, the first new iPhone I've gotten in a long time, MER, HERD and what do I have I got the 256, gig iPhone SS max 10s, max I'm, calling it excess, and I think I know those BOTS. Despite that fact, it's been a little of all a little of a stretch here since I've had one you just pull this tab and the plastic just falls away. Yeah, I'll tell you what I did hesitate and was tempted by that 512 gig, one and I do shoot video and man I. You know when you're filming or taking a lot of photos that does fill up, throw some movies on there, but I didn't because it was kind of expensive and this whole phone was kind of expensive to begin with, so I guess I decided to pass on it. They do have this picture on the front, which has gotten a little of flack because they say well, it's hiding the notch with the black background. It's time a notch, so there it is.
This is the box: it's open the sucker up. That's always that tight fit falls out nice and slow designed by Apple in California. Yes, hello, that big screen I'm stoked about this thing because of the size of the screen, I'm, actually going to have to swap my sim card on this, so I'm gonna hold on to the SIM tray release or ejection tool there. We do have a couple of white Apple stickers a little surprise. They still throw that in because and yeah, oh, my goodness, it is so slim all wrapped in plastic.
Just like me when I was born boom. Yes, look at that a big slab, a gruel of glass, not sapphire. Yet so, can you keep that in mind? It's totally different from my seven plus, because obviously we have this very shiny chrome like edge all the way around, whereas my whole metal aluminum case is kind of that matte black finish, which I love you can see here. We've got the SIM tray just really nicely lapped into their power. Button.
I got a couple of bands here where the metal seams are a little loose. Since you ain't focusing on that stuff a little better, and then we have on the bottom Lightning port, and then you can see, we've got a pretty big I, don't know if the microphone and the speaker's there and just speaker there, but obviously it's quite a bit smaller here, because we've got that band and if I go on in on this really close there, you can see. We've got those pantalone screws, so you can't just take these suckers out with any toolkit. You can even see the connector in there and theoretically, sitting is even more waterproof now than the last one. So I don't know.
If there's any big changes there, we've got the buttons here, volume rockers seem very nice and sturdy we've got the mute switch. There got another got a scene here and a scene here which looks like it's in gray and then a seam right at the top, and you can see the camera and the cutout in there. You can kind of see in the light the notch display, I'm so excited and look at this here. It is the glass back it's like watching. It starts a story fly by the camera.
Furthermore, it says iPhone, interestingly, on some older iPhones used to print some specs down here now it just says iPhone in silver, and then we've got the logo so smooth around the edge. Furthermore, it's just from that metal band to the glass back. Furthermore, it's just super smooth like a fine watch and then what you can see here is we have the camera housing, which is very you know it's not a tapered edge to it. Furthermore, it's very upright, very straight edge, all the way around dual cameras flash in the middle microphone. There, too, not sure if I feel like there should be another microphone, maybe uses this one in this one i.
e. this one in this one when it records when you're filming like this, because I think it records in stereo now, so I'm, not exactly sure how they do that, but the mic or the camera housing here is just a little bigger than the old one. So it'll be interesting to see people as they try to reuse some of their old cases. Now we just take a look. X s and the original 10 you can see just how big of a difference these bad boys are right.
How'd. You excited alright and that's because I had the plus now I've taken off the case on my plus here, my seven plus this case to design for it, because I actually wanted to just see how close we are to the excess max here. In terms of you know. Well, these cases work now the cutouts are not gonna work at all, but you know what's interesting is because they have such a big oversized cutout. On this particular case, the housing will kind of fit in there, but, as you can see here so I kind of press, everything in the power button is not gonna line up the volume rockers look like they kind of will, and then the bottom stuff is pretty much open, but that power button is covered up and actually would probably be inadvisable once you wanted to cut it open so that you didn't have the case, holding down that power button and powering it back on, so I'm super excited.
Really. The big thing for me is the display, which is crazy. Big now you know, I mean I got the plus because I liked, using it the camp or the phone as almost as an iPad replacement at times, and this is actually going to I think kind of fit. My need that the iPad Mini fit, so I have an iPad Pro and I, don't have kind of that smaller mid-sized iPad and actually, when I pulled off the case it started on, and so interestingly I don't know that I'll ever want or need a mini again because of how big this is so well, that's gonna power an up there, and we'll take a look at the screen. Just pull out here.
It looks like we've got ear, pods wired, so right there Lightning control on it. You get a lightning cable, you get a charging brick, but what you might not? What you might notice is that you don't get the headphone the three half millimeter dongle anymore, so that's no longer included. Alright. Here it is boom. Screen is up.
You can see in the top-notch corner. We've got power thing over there. You'll, have your phone signal or something hey? No hola aloes yeah shoot it was Hall dang it, and then you know no home button. Now. You'll use the slide to get to that, and you can see here how close it comes to the edge yeah I'll tell ya yeah.
It feels you know if you were to put this in my hand, and I'm. With my eyes closed. It feels just like my seven-plus, but man I can tell you just looking at this there's so much more screen real estate, that's gonna, be kind of crazy. I will be looking at that oops I am sitting my Apple Watch. Button I will be looking at what the apps do here.
You know, I said that the phone supports them side-by-side. You know some websites automatically go to desktop mode, especially when you turn it to the side, just because of the screen real estate song super stoked about trying that now, let's finish this off by throwing on a case here anyway, but I'm going to use this one, and this I showed you- this is the tempered glass hybrid case. We got the glass back here and a rubber edge I'm, just going to throw this in just confirm that everything fits and works like it's supposed to man fits in there easily. You can see here it actually has extra cutouts, because there's apparently no no there's only four holes as opposed to seven, which you might think, but it looks symmetrical that way and power button yep seems to work just fine, and you can see the screen actually hovers above the edges just a little. There, volume rockers so seemed to work, fine, nice access to the mute button and then, most importantly, maybe the camera here you can see now that camera housing is basically flush with this glass back.
So that looks phenomenal no logo on the back of this. But you know it almost looks like my phone with a bumper on it so protect it really nicely stoked to move. It's been two years FYI. If you look back since I unboxed an iPhone here, it's been a while. You want the new iPhone XS because of its amazing camera, or the bigger edge to edge glass display check it out.
I'll, put a link in the description to it and some iPhone accessories that I really like we'll be checking out more of those I'm pumped Peter Amanda out.
