Should You Buy iPhone XR in 2021?

Okay, so let's just begin with the key specifications that matter here with the iPhone 10r a 6.1 inch 1792 by 828 display on the rear, a single 12, megapixel camera capable up to 4k 60p. Three gigs of ram in the body of this phone also has the apple, a12, bionic chip and a 2942 William hour battery inside the body. All right. So let's talk about the build with this phone 194 grams is what the iPhone 10r weighs, and it's a pretty weighty phone, a little chunky as well on the sides. You'll see this thing comes in right, around 8.3, millimeters thick, and it does have gorilla glass on the front and back also, this phone is capable of ip67 dust and water resistance. However, I did get it wet one time and the speakers got really loaded with water, and it sounded really tiny.

It took me a while to get that water out, so I wouldn't recommend you taking this thing anywhere in deep water. Nothing like that, but overall the build in 2021 definitely a go. I still think it's premium. I still think it feels great uh. The curved edges still feel very nice, rounded corners.

They feel comfortable in the hand. So it's still a go okay. So when it comes to the 10 hours display in 2021 couple things that are great couple, things that aren't the first things that are great are that it gets plenty bright.625 nits will definitely beat out a lot of other phones, not every phone gets that bright. In addition, I think the 10r does have plenty of color on board here. It's not overly saturated or anything like that, but it does give a good colorful display I feel like, and then it also does have support for dark mode, night shift and true tone and videos.

Look pretty good and TeX also looks pretty sharp on this phone. Now I will state that the iPhone 10r, though, does have some downsides, and the downsides of this display are that, of course, doesn't hit the 800 nits of the pro display, but it's the resolution. The resolution of this display just not clearly not as good as the other iPhones. Now there's been numerous videos comparing more sharp iPhones to this iPhone, but the iPhone 12. Clearly is a better display with OLED this being LCD, if you prefer liquid, crystal displays, you'll, you'll prefer this one over OLED, which can strain certain people's eyes, depending on how you adjust to those panels.

So do try out an ole din-store, maybe look at LCD, see which one looks better to your eye. Okay, guys so being honest with you here with the software. It feels just like any other iPhone. It's super smooth, so the a12 bionic chipset has not skipped the beat, and if you bought this phone in 2018, you still have rock solid performance. There's no slowdown whatsoever here with a 10r having four gigs of ram or three gigs of ram excuse.

I is not really a big issue here for this device either it still performs exceptionally well on the day-to-day. With that seven nanometer chip apple was ahead of its time here with the CPU, and you're, also able to run your favorite games on here in 2021 with no problem. It does warm up a little because there's a glass back on the rear of this phone, but I have no issues running games while they won't load as fast as the latest 12 12 pro max phones like that they still will fire right up, and they'll play just fine. Now, when it comes to the storage, you could get this phone all the way up to 256 gigs, which you see here, which I think was fantastic for the 10r. So if you buy one now, you'll be able to get a cheaper version of a 128, gig, 64 gigs or a 256 gig.

Let's talk about the cameras. The iPhone 10r does have a 12 megapixel rear camera cable up to 4k at 60 on that back camera up here, and you can switch it right there in video settings now. If we go ahead and record, it's still a very exceptional video in good light. There's no night mode. Officially on this, one you'll have to get it third party through some applications, but it does have smart HDR and the photos do turn out pretty amazing, and I like how it's just a single lens.

It makes the camera really simple to use versus having all these extra lenses on these new phones and, honestly, I'm still pretty happy with the results here. I think that the newer phones got sharper. They do a little better with high dynamic range and things like that, but the iPhone x, rear camera is still an exceptional camera to have on a phone. Now the front-facing camera can have been updated quite a bit. It doesn't really match up to the rear.

So this is a back step here if you use a 10r in 2021. If you decide to pick this over something newer than this, you are going to be stepping back here in the front-facing camera, so way how much selfie quality matters to you, because this can only do HD 30 video on the front and the selfie quality is not as great because there's a 7 megapixel versus apple matching, the consistent 12 megapixel rear cameras on the new ones with 12 on the front here. So this is a major step back, I think for the 10r, so selfie fans will probably want to go with an 11 okay. So when it comes to sound, so the sound 2021 is definitely acceptable. It comes out of the top and the bottom speakers of this phone, I'm pretty happy with it.

You do have to use Bluetooth if you want to connect to headphones and stuff like that, though, and the battery life on the 10r is pretty excellent, this phone doesn't have the largest one, but at 29.42 and great optimization of iOS, this phone can go the distance, it's actually more impressive than some other iPhones that are currently on sale. Today. I think the iPhone 12 gets worse battery life than this could be due to the 5g and the OLED display. But this one right here easily gets through a day with no problem, so does the 11, but this one is no exception either. So you'll also have capabilities for wireless charging on the rear and fast charging on this phone.

So it's not just that it can charge, you know fast, but you can also throw it on any QI. Wireless charger pretty nice to have and the face ID on this phone actually works just as well as pretty much all the other face. I'd iPhones. I didn't have major issues, but I will say that the angles on the 11 pro and the 12 series you can actually open on a little more extreme angles on the newer ones, but this one still worked pretty fantastic. Okay, the worst thing about the 10r, though, has been its radios like the signal strength when you're using the phone on 4g LTE.

This was one of the worst iPhones I've used in this respect. Now keep in mind, I do live in a major metropolitan area Chicago, so definitely it was pretty decent for me, but once I started going out in the suburbs and stuff like that, I started to lose signal. There were times I couldn't even use 4g LTE so depending on where you live, this could be a bad phone in terms of that, and that has to do with these not being Qualcomm modems, and it's even worse than the 10s maxes in here as well. So this is not the best now don't get me wrong. Don't take that statement with.

Oh, this guy's saying I'm not even going to be able to make a phone call. I'm not even going to be able to use my internet. Forget the 10r. No, that's not what I'm saying what I'm saying is not going to be as reliable as some other iPhones, and it's not going to be as reliable as some other Samsung competitor phones, phone call. Quality itself, though, was pretty good.

When you did have signal and speakerphone was loud enough for sure. So that's, it is the iPhone 10r worth it in 2021, from 349 to around 600 bucks for this phone, depending on where you're at you can get this in five different colors, black red, yellow, blue coral white. You know it's, it's a tough one, because you have competing phones with newer features at a similar or cheaper price. So you really gotta want apple and you're. Really going to want a bigger iPhone at a cheaper price.

You don't want the SE 2020, because it's an older design, you don't want to pay the extra for the 11, that's where the 10r really comes in handy it could be a great backup phone or, if you're, getting a phone for maybe a parent, or maybe it's a first time phone first time iPhone for a teenager. Something like that or even if this is just in your budget range, and you just need a newer iPhone. Some and you need an iPhone. You need something pretty good. I think the 10r is still a recommended iPhone.
