Many have tried to beat the iPad, but Samsung has been the single android manufacturer to consistently challenge apple's dominance on the tablet market. The brand new Samsung Galaxy tab, s7 plus, is definitely its best attempt. So far now, at first glance it has it all super sleek and stunning design, 5g connectivity, a gorgeous and super smooth 120hz display top of the line processor, a functional s-pen with lower latency than before, and finally, an interface that has been tailor-made for the tablet experience and for increased productivity and, with its optional keyboard case huge battery DEX mode. It is now closer to a laptop replacement than every hello guys. My name is Vic with phone arena and the Galaxy Tab s7 plus, is just beautifully put together, features sleek, frosted, glass bag. That feels very pleasant to the touch, and it also has sharp edges that look kind of similar to what we have on the iPad Pro it's an interesting design touch.
The tablet is also extremely thin and at 1.3 pounds it's a bit lighter than the big sized iPad Pro that weighs 1.4 pounds now. Size is something that you have to get used to, despite the slim, bezels and efficient use of space. The Galaxy Tab, s7 plus, is one big tablet, and it definitely takes some time to get accustomed to its humongous size. It features a 12.4-inch screen of the AMOLED kind. Now this is a truly gorgeous screen with rich colors and deep blacks, and it's plenty sharp too.
The display is probably the biggest selling point here now, while the iPad Pro also rocks a beautiful display, it's an LCD one- and here you just have the richer, more captivating colors and that 16 by 10 aspect ratio here is also great for watching videos. Another welcome feature is the support for 120 hertz refresh rate having a higher refresh rate on such a large and colorful display is truly a great experience, but it also drains the battery a little faster. Now, that's not so much an issue on a tablet as it is on a phone, so I don't really mind by the way, make sure to check out our website phone arena. com, where we'll be sharing battery test results for the tab. S7 plus very soon and will be comparing its battery life at 120 hertz and at 60 hertz.
The tablet features a slightly bigger than 10 000 William hour battery, and it also supports up to 45 watt fast charging, but you'd need to buy a compatible charger separately. The one in the box delivers just 15 watts, and it takes an eternity to recharge the tablet, so better get a faster charger. Now, with the snapdragon 865 chipsets on deck, the tab is nothing short of a powerhouse. It never feels like it is struggling to keep up with the user's space, and there is always performance in reserve pair it with the high refresh rate display and the streamlined one UI interface. This tablet is leaves beyond its predecessors in terms of perceived snappiness ram.
Here comes in at either 6 gigabytes or 8 gigabytes. These days we have phones with up to 12 gigabytes of ram. So that's definitely not a record breaker, but it was mostly enough unless you're, very heavy multitasker, where you'll see some apps reload by the way Samsung has introduced quite a lot of new productivity features with the tab. S7, plus, with multitasking being the light motif here, the new and improved multi-active window lets you open and use up to three apps simultaneously, and you can save your favorite combination of apps with app pair and launch all the three apps at once. If that's not enough, the tab, s7 plus also features the slide out edge screen that we know from galaxy phones for quick access to apps.
The s pen has also been greatly improved with reduced latency and paired with that 120hz display. It really is a no lag experience here. This has been redesigned a bit and now feels more comfortable, more substantial, and it snaps tightly to the back of the tablet with a neat animation. That shows you how much juice is left in it. Now, thanks to air actions, you can also control your tab, s7 plus with the s pen from a short distance.
You can create quick actions such as going back going home going to the recent cards. The smart select screen right. These are a bit of a party trick. We use them for a while, but they're, not a feature that I would personally use on a daily basis. They feel a little gimmicky, but they are useful in some cases and some gestures were a bit hit or miss, so we'll see how it goes in the longer run.
Now the Samsung notes app is also overhauled, with new features. For example, it now has cloud sync and node sharing. There is even a folder like structure that allows you to sort your notes like a pro. Unfortunately, I did not get to test the keyboard that is optional here with this tablet, but that would be an essential accessory for bloggers and those looking to replace a laptop and when you're ready to take a break from being productive. The big screen comes in combination with super powerful quad speakers that produce impressively loud, sound, a perfect companion for watching YouTube videos on the go, and I also tried playing Call of Duty mobile on the big screen.
It's a real droid now I personally did not use the cameras here much, but a few photos I took with them looked good enough. Please don't be that person taking photos with a tablet, even though this one does quite well. The cameras for me here are mostly useful for snapping photos of documents plus the front. Camera is now positioned in landscape view, which is a lot more convenient for video conferencing. So, at the end of the day, Samsung sells the tab, s7 plus as a productivity machine, with a hugely improved s-pen and a bunch of features that help make this good enough to be a laptop replacement, a tool for artists and a lot more.
It's a versatile tablet. It's also a lot of fun and that beautiful, huge AMOLED screen for me. That's the killer feature there's no doubt that this is the best iPad Pro alternative out there. Only you will know whether you prefer the Apple ecosystem or Samsung's, more open, android experience. We can't really make that call here, but if you want a perfect big screen tablet, the tab s7 plus will match and top your expectations will not disappoint and that's it for our review of the new Galaxy Tab, s7 plus thumbs up.
