Samsung Galaxy Note9 First Look By TWiT Tech Podcast Network

This is tweeted. You got a new phone, I'm really excited. You got two new phones, we're gonna start with the fingerprinting phones. He wrote nine, which went on sale Friday. Yes, there's you had pre-ordered it. So it came.

Friday yeah and you know, I got the blue model of the note nine I mean this is a metal back. No, it's glass! Oh, that's! For us and back. Is it wirelessly? Why are those charging all the note line? Yes, yeah! It's got a different. You know fingerprint sensor location in the right spot, yeah next to the camera, which the old no date was right. Next to the camera.

This is more like the s9, where it's down below right, it's down below. Obviously it's got a horizontal array of the dual cameras on the back, but I mean otherwise. For the most part, the design is very similar to what you're used to on a no date. The s-pen obviously has some changes. It's yellow it pops.

It reminds you of an old Sony Walkman, but that button on the side there is now-now Tricia, no tooth LE commands so lets you were showing me this earlier. If you put the camera and I can use this as a shutter control, so you hit the button on the s-pen, and it's pictures, so you could say camera across the room. So a nice group photos not I get in place and then just hit the button, and it'll take the picture, so they're, giving the s-pen more functionality than just drawing on the screen, which I'm sure some users didn't really get a habit doing that anyway. So why not use it in other ways there are some things that are bigger: the batteries bigger four thousand William hours, one thousand yeah you've had it such a short time. You can't really.

I yeah, I really unbox this. A couple of days ago, I spent the majority of my time this past week with the Motor XIII, which I'll talk about later, so I haven't spent a lot of time on this, but you know we know what to expect from Samsung on their note line. Right and this falls directly in line with that- it's going to be an amazing phone. It's an expensive phone. This model here has 128 gigs of storage.

You got the cheap, 150 bucks more. You get eight gigs of ram and 512 512 gigs of storage, which I don't need somebody. Furthermore, you know what I do like about this. The other thing that's bigger is the screen. This is a yeah.

You can't tell because its bezel is 6.9. That's almost you know. I want to out just to do a demo here. This is the tablet that Google used to sell. They stopped selling the Nexus 7 inch yep display, so I love.

This tablet Nexus 7 67 yeah. This is almost as big yeah and when you say almost as big you mean like top to bottom, it's about the same size. Obviously the Nexus 7 is a wider screen. It's actually top to bottom. The same.

This is a little yep. So if you miss your 7-inch tablet, this is pretty close point.9 tablets in your path with no bezel yeah wow, that's good to me. That's! How is that bigger than the that's bigger than the note 8 right? Yes, yeah? The design is a little bigger than the no date. No, it was on 6.3, and they're all going in this direction. You know, we've got pixel.

Three XL is leaking like a sieve. At this point, and you know that's a big upgrade from the pixel 2 XL. That's not quite this large I think it's six point seven inches. So here we are again in the large earning you know of phones, the leaked iPhone, I guess they're going to call it. Maybe the 10 plus is six point four inches.

So okay, these Android phones are still bigger than the biggest and iPhones smart camera in there. So I'm getting really curious to kind of play around with some smart camera features immediate feedback on certain things. So, if you take a shot and somebody in the group is blinking it'll tell you right away almost blinking. Take that shot again. I haven't set it up.

Okay, it also has an are emoji AR, Moi, they're emoji are bogey and why I hate this? This is the creepiest thing ever: oh, alright, I won't do it. I won't do that on your phone. That's that's! Not gonna! Leave me with your AR moi. That's just not right! Yeah healthy focus, oh I'm in selfie focus now, what's selfie focus, I, don't know I don't know. Does it just focus you're focusing okay, yeah good, so I will play around with that.

Obviously, the camera quality is gonna, be really going yeah. Maybe it is always on the note series nowadays, especially doing there they're, basically tick-tocking. Now the s9 comes out mid-years. Yes, the note 9 comes out at end a year yep. So that way they can keep leapfrogging yeah, making it a little better.

Each time, I think that's pretty cool yeah yeah 53 percent, faster CPU than the no tape 23 percent faster GPU in the US Snapdragon 844 45 right it'll be in the Enos processor internationally. So I'm really excited to spend the next week or so and next week, on the show I will kind of give more of an in-depth review. I'm actually going to be on next week as well.
