Samsung Galaxy A71 Vs Samsung Galaxy A51! (Comparison) (Review)

Welcome back everyone time to do another comparison, this time around between two phones, the one I just bought and the other one that I bought a while ago. But I totally forgot to do this comparison, so we might as well go and hit on it now and those two phones are the Samsung Galaxy a51 and the Samsung Galaxy a71. Now both of these things came out around the same time, the a51 came out a little earlier than the a71, but regardless they're both really, really good phones, and they're. Both really great budget phones as well. Right now in 2020 we're getting a ton of different budget devices, we've so far, gotten the iPhone SE 2 the Samsung Galaxy a71 a51, we've gotten the OnePlus word OnePlus is also working on another budget phone, and we got in the Google Pixel 4a, and we're supposed to be getting a couple. Other budget phones, hopefully later on this year, maybe even early 2021.

So it's very important to hit on these two phones, because when you go to Best Buy you go to Walmart whatever. These two phones are some of the first phones that you're going to see as a budget option. Now you can pick up the Samsung Galaxy a51 for a little less than 300 right now in the on Amazon, because it has been out for a couple of months and the Samsung Galaxy a71. You can pick up for less than 400 on Amazon, so I'll leave both of these linked down in the description below, so you can get them from there and help support the channel at the same time, now, starting off with the front and specifically with the a51 you're, getting a 6.5 inch super AMOLED display on that phone, and it is 1080p, so full HD and this panel, for the most part, is actually a pretty good panel. When I was using it, I personally didn't hate it like.

I thought it was pretty decent and the best thing about this display. There are two things: one there's a very little bezel around it, and you're getting that whole punch display, but on top of that you're getting a fingerprint sensor in that display as well you're getting it also on the a71. What's really cool about this specific device? Is that just remember? Okay, if you could rewind back like just a couple of years ago, maybe like five six years ago? Phones that look like this were like the dream. That was like a phone like this, probably in five years ago, probably even like three years ago- cost like a thousand or two thousand dollars. Something like that.

You can even fathom a phone looking like this eventually- and this is what our budget phones are looking like now, which is insane so this phone for sure, in my opinion, in terms of the display, is better than what I was expecting from a know: sub 300 phones, where the Samsung Galaxy a71 has a 6.7 inch super AMOLED plus display, and this one is also 1080p. Now, in my opinion, that you know this, one also has a fingerprint sensor in the display as well, which is really cool. In my opinion, I really don't think one display looks way better than the other one. The a71 is a bigger device, so kind of keep that in mind, but it's really not that much bigger they're, both very, very close when it comes down to it, but when it comes down to the actual you know the display itself you're really not going to find one being way better than the other one, but I think the a51 is very cool because it's a smaller device, and you have that option of getting that smaller one, but you also have that option of getting that bigger one too, which is really cool. So in terms of display in the front, I don't think one really wins over the other one by any means, but both have perfect panels on the bottom, USB type c, which is really cool and on the back, you have the same type of back setup.

Now I think this is like polycarbonate or kind of glass kind of material. I don't know what it is. It doesn't feel super cheap though so for a budget phone. It feels perfect. I think it feels more premium than what we have in the note 20, and it feels more premium than the know, Pixel 4a as well.

It doesn't feel as good as something like the iPhone SE 2, though so. Keep that in mind. The sc2's back still feels a little more premium and I feel like that phone feels more premium overall, but these two phones, I think because they share the same type. If you know style and the way they feel I can't really pin one over the other. They both have quadruple camera setups as well, which is really cool.

So in terms of that, like I stated before, I don't really think one really is the crazier one in terms of the design by any means, but in terms of the body and the way they feel they're, both very similar and there's really not one. That really is too super crazy over the other one. Now both of them do support micro, SD card slot expansion, so you can actually go and expand that storage, which is really cool. So in terms of that, I think that really pretty much covers up the outside. Like I said, one isn't really the successor the way better one, but I still think both are really, really great, and I think, and for the price that you're paying, for, I think it's kind of easy to.

You know just understand. Okay, they had to cut some corners here and there so in terms of the outside. That really pretty much covers it up for the most part now hating on the software. Both these are starting off with android 10 they're, both going to be getting android 11 at some point and possibly even android 12. I don't know how Samsung Galaxy's a lineup of devices.

Software experience works, so I don't know if it's getting like an extra year or two of software updates. I think I want to say it's getting two years of software updates, because Samsung has increased their lineup by one software update each, but I think that's only for the flagship, you know galaxy s, series and Galaxy Note series. I could be totally wrong about that, but these two things are at least going to be getting android 11, so one UI three at some point: they're both already set to get one UI 2.5, which should be coming out in the next month or two, which is going to be really great, and I'll probably make a video about that too. But in terms of the software experience, longevity wise, that's kind of what I would tell you, they're, both probably going to be getting around the same years of software lifecycle support. So in terms of that that covers that aspect, but they both have the same pros and cons when it comes down to the software, and they're both running one UI, two like I stated, and you might not like when you white two, you might love it.

I personally am not a fan of the way it looks. I never really liked it ever since touch was early on touch wiz to the last Samsung experience or whatever I never really liked it. That doesn't mean you won't like it. I would recommend putting a custom launcher on it, though. Just downloading one from Google play and installing it I would recommend doing that: that'll really kind of brighten up your whole entire experience of this device and with a phone like this, it's not like the craziest performing device and there's always like random bells and whistles and pop-ups and stuff.

So it's good to have a clean launcher at the very least. So in terms of that that pretty much covers up the software life cycle of it now hitting on the performance. The Samsung Galaxy a51 has that Enos 9611 chipsets, outscore CPU and there's several models of it. The base models have four gigs of ram. The mid-tier model has six gigs of ram, and the top tier model has eight gigs of ram.

My specific model had four gigs of ram where the Samsung Galaxy a51 has that Qualcomm snapdragon 730 processors, an outscore CPU, an arena, 618 GPU and six gigs of ram on that base model and eight gigs of ram on the top tier model, and for my a71 I did have that base model. Now, with the a51, I was kind of surprised to see that it was a pretty decent performing device. It didn't feel slow by any means, but you could tell it wasn't like the craziest performing device and Samsung knows that you know everyone knows that you're not going to be getting Samsung Galaxy, s20 experience from a phone like this by any means, and even though it kind of looks like it, it really doesn't perform, but like it by any means either, and I can say that same thing with the galaxy a71, but for the price that you're paying for. I think it's a pretty good experience now with the a71. It definitely is, I think, overall, faster than the 850 one.

I recently just compared the a71 to the note 20 in terms of the speed opening and all that stuff, and I saw that the note 20 obviously was the faster one, but there were some times when the a71 was actually a little faster than the eighth than the note 20, which was astounding to me. So, like I said, I don't think one is like the consistent fastest one in the world, but I do think when it comes down to both of these. The galaxy a71 is the fastest one than the galaxy a51 as expected, but, like I stated before out like 30 times the price that you're paying for. I think both of these have a perfect price per dollar. When it comes down to the performance, I would not necessarily go and downgrade to an a71 or an 851 just based off the performance, but I still think both phones do a perfect job at you know for the price per value for handling that in terms of a performance standpoint.

So hopefully that made some sense. I know I kind of like draw things out and draw the conclusion out, but basically a71 is a little faster than the a51 and, depending on the ram size that you get either you're getting the same amount of ram or you're, getting way less ram, so kind of determine. If you want more ram, you have more flexibility on the a51 than you have on the a71. So in terms of that, that pretty much covers it up now hitting on the camera sensors, they kind of have the same setup kind of going on a little. The Samsung Galaxy 51 has a 48 megapixel wide 12, megapixel ultra-wide 5, megapixel macro and then 5 megapixel dev sensor, where the Samsung Galaxy 71 has a 64 megapixel wide 12, megapixel, ultra-wide 5, megapixel macro, and then a 5 megapixel depth sensor.

Both can do 4k, 30 and, I would honestly say: okay, probably the a71 is the better camera, but there's a lot of functionality between these. That is kind of you know not necessarily super important like with that macro and depth lens. I don't know how many average people are going to be using those lenses, they're, most probably going to be using that wide or the ultra-wide sensor, and I'm glad they put an ultra white sensor in here and not a telephoto, because I would way rather have ultra white sensors than telephoto lenses. It would have been better if they had both, but still, I think, for the most part, the camera lenses on these things are good for the budget phones. They cannot do 4k 60s, so keep that in mind, but I still think 4k 30 for a ton of people are perfectly fine.

They both have 32 megapixel cameras on the front and both can only do 1080p. I don't know why they had that high of a megapixel count and only shoot 1080p, but it is what it is. I think in terms of the camera sensors that pretty much covers it up. The a71 is probably the better one, but the a51 is, you know, probably a little over there too. Now winning it off with the battery life.

The a51 has a four thousand million power battery. The a71 has a 4500 millibar battery, and this is one area where I think the a71 is probably the biggest. You know if going from the a51 to the a71. This is where you're probably going to see one of the bigger jumps at because the a71 has a really, really good battery life. The a51 also has pretty decent battery life, but I would still give the edge to the galaxy a71 for having the overall better battery life at the end of the day.

So in terms of both these phones and to kind of sum up, this comparison, you know which phone should you pick up? I'll, be honest, it's kind of simple! Actually, if you have a lower budget, if you don't want to necessarily spend a bunch of money, the Samsung Galaxy a51 is the better way to go. It'll get you from point a to point b at a cheaper price tag: yeah, it's probably not as heavy of performance and has less ram and probably doesn't have as good battery life, but for a cheaper phone. It's what you're expecting to get. But if you can increase your budget by a little, the Samsung Galaxy a71 is a very, very good phone for the price that you're paying for it's a little bigger you're, getting a bigger battery, better performance kind of better camera lens, maybe, but I think you're going to get an overall, better experience on a Samsung Galaxy a71 than an a51, but both have a lot of similarities too, and you can't really go wrong in terms of a budget phone if it's between these two devices, so that really pretty much covers it up.
