Samsung Galaxy A20 VS Redmi Note 8 - Which Budget Smartphone Is Better? 2020 By Matthews Tech

What is the route, so they're going to be taking a look at two excellent budget smartphones, the note eight in the galaxy 820. So these are retail for 200 bucks for the 820, and then you can get the note 8 for around 161. That's what I pay for mine, so I'll put the links down below. So let's talk about hardware, because these are two are pretty interesting matchups here, so you do have a glass and a plastic railing on the note, 8 quad camera setup, and it's a very nice premium, feeling phone definitely a little more premium than the Galaxy 820, even though it is definitely thinner. I guess in the 820 is a to me more comfortable to hold in the hand, but it is a plastic phone, the 820, and it does not feel as premium as the note 8, and you do have a dual camera setup, which you will get into both have a capacitive fingerprint scanner on the back to have your volume, buttons and volume rockers on the right side, nothing on the left side, but the sim ejection, now you've got the headphone jack on both USB type-c and a single firing speaker alright. So you have a pretty interesting trade-off as far as displays go, so you do have a six point.

Three inch IPS display on the note 8, it's a 1080p display for a nine for the PPI and on the a20. You have a Super AMOLED displays a six point. Four inches. Also, it's slightly bigger than the know eight, and it is a 720p display 268 for the PPI. So you have a lower res display, 720p versus 1080p, and you also have an AMOLED versus an IPS.

So you have to kind of make that trade-off and the advantages with the AMOLED is that you get the always-on display function and you do not get that here on the no 8, but the no 8 is definitely the sharper and overall, just higher quality display here, but it really depends on your personal preference. This is definitely more color. Accurate I can't say that, but this definitely looks better. Looking at cons and just watching videos to be able to watch in 1080p is always. You know, going to be better than 720p.

So it is something to think about me personally, but probably go with the note eights display, even though I like the Super AMOLED display a lot I. Think, as you know, time progresses I. Think 1080p. I really am the standard on the phones that you're paying around 200 bucks for alright. So you do have Android 9 in me, UI 11, on the note 8 snapdragon 665 Arena 610 for the GPU micros support.

You also have 32 gigs of storage and three gigs of ram. So on the 20 you have entered nine with one UI. You also have the exhaust 78-84 with the Mali g71 micros support, 32, gigs of storage and three gigs around. So, as you can see, spec wise they're pretty evenly matched you can play games on. Both these phones find no problems.

Pop G Call of Duty no fortnight because of the RAM, but gaming on here is just fine and as far as the UI I kind of like one, you are a little better than me to I 11. Just because you have a lot of functionality that you can do with one you are, you can really customize, and I think it's definitely smoother at the a20 of my experience has been smoother with the a20. As far as the UI goes. Sometimes you can get dropped frames. You know scrolling and stuff on me, UI 11, so hopefully that gets fixed with Android 10.

But when you are 2.0 when it comes to the a20, it's going to be just as good, so it really comes down to personal preference as well are so you guys know I love speakers. So let's go ahead and test these speakers out on both these phones. Starting with you know, eight. So just a way louder. Speaker only note, 8 very easy, just more don't be more crisp and clear.

Only note, 8, definitely all right. So let's go ahead and run a quick speed test are real, quick! Let's go ahead and launch YouTube three two one no.8 got it there. Let's go ahead and try the camera again: no.8 Play Store a 20 out it there. Let's try call the duty mobile three two one, the a20 got it there and the noh8 right behind it. So let's talk about the camera situation because it's pretty interesting.

So on the note 8 you have a quiet, camera setup, say forty, eight megapixel wide 8 megapixel ultra-wide 2 megapixel macro and a 2 megapixel depth shoots in 4k 30fps and then on the front facing camera. You have a 13 megapixel shoots in 1080p. So on the galaxy 820, you have a dual camera setup, and you have a 13 megapixel wide 5 megapixel ultra-wide Houston 1080p and 8 megapixel front-facing camera. So, as you can see, you can shoot in 4k on the note 8, you can only shoot in 1080p on the 820, so it does have that advantage there, and you do have just more cameras, especially that macro sensors always are really fun, and you have the depth sensor, but I'll go ahead and show you some stills, so you can see you're getting very good shots out of both of these cameras. I really like both these cameras.

Actually I was really pleased, so, whichever phone that you go with I think you're going to be very happy with the camera performance. Now you do have NFC on these Samsung Galaxy 820, so you will be able to do those mobile payments and only Note 8. You actually do not have NFC, but you do have the infrared port. If that is something that interests you, you do have that one there, the 820 does not, but for mobile payments, which I know a lot of people care about the 820 has it no 8 doesn't so do keep that in mind, if that's important to you now as far as getting into the phone, it's very fast experience with both fingerprint scanners. So, as you can see, no real problem they're, both extremely fast and face on lock, it's very fast and I, actually think the face I'm, like it's faster, only no.8, just no, no sometimes the 820 is kind of just a little slower and it got discussed something to do with the animation I think. But let's go ahead and talk about battery life, so only a 20.

You have a four thousand William battery with 15 watt fast charging. So you have a 4000 M battery, only note 8 with 18 wide fast charging, so it charges slightly faster than the galaxy a 20, but you actually are getting better battery life on the 20 and that most likely has something to do with the lower res display. You know it's just not as powerful, or a high-res display, as you know, 8, so you're just going to get excellent battery life somewhere around 10 to the 11 hours of screen on time, thanks to Samsung software and then on the note, 8 you're going to get perfect battery life somewhere around 7 to 8 hours are no problem, so, as you can see, both perfect phones very interesting trade-offs with both these phones.
