Samsung Galaxy A12 VS Samsung Galaxy A20 - Is The Older A20 Better Then The New A12? 2021

What's up guys today we're going to be comparing the Samsung Galaxy a12 to the a20 uh. This one right now unlocked retails for around 200 uh. The a20 has come down. Finally, in price uh, it's like 140 right now. It's still a really great phone, and you'll see why so, let's go ahead and get started here so um hardware, wise uh. Both of these phones are plastic phones.

Now the a12 definitely uh. You know, has the upper hand. Here. It's got the textured back on here, the two-tone, textures and um. I just really like the feel of this foam.

It definitely has a really nice weight to it. Just does not feel like a super cheap phone and looks uh. You know a little more modern than the older a20, which doesn't look bad um by any means. It's still a pretty decent, looking uh device here, but I think the main thing is like the trendy camera setup just gives it that uh, that better look and also the texture back here uh. But let's go ahead.

Let's see the a20 is a little shorter than the a12 as well. Now you can see a difference here. The fingerprint scanner is on the side with the power button, and I prefer that over the fingerprint scanner being on the back here on the 820. So that is one thing uh that I really like. I wish all manufacturers did that, so you've got your power button on both right hand.

Sides your volume, rocker you've also got your headphone jack USB type-c. Both of these phones have a single firing speaker as well all right. So one of the main things I loved about the a20 when it first came out is this phone has an AMOLED display. It's got a super AMOLED display. It's a 6.4 inch, 720p plus 268 for the PPI. The a12 actually has a pl sips display it's a 6.5 inch display and that one is a 720p plus 264 for the PPI I'll. Let you know right off the bat uh.

The 820s display is much better than the a12s. As far as color accuracy, like I said, AMOLED versus IPS, really, no competition anymore. It just overall has the better display it's brighter to me as well. So I just love the a12 display here, one of the things you'll notice is you actually get a little less bezel on the a20 as well, which is pretty interesting for an older phone, and you also have both uh water drop uh notches on here, but that was one of the main things with this phone is just the deep blacks and really vibrant colors or the a20. I made this.

You know I kind of special phone when it first came out and then Samsung moved away from uh that even with the a21, the successor of this phone uh, it does not have a super AMOLED. So it's kind of uh strange that they did that, but overall display quality is 100 better on the 20. Now the a12 display is fine for what it is in IPS display. In comparison, it looks a little washed compared to the a20, but it's fine. It's got good viewing angles fairly bright.

You can see it outdoors, so no real issues, uh, you know with the display. Now, let's keep running down the specs here so uh with the a20 uh. This phone has the xenon 7884 in the Mali g71 GPU on the a12 uh. You have the MediaTek hello p35, with power, BR graphics, both phones, support micro, SD support; both phones have 32 gigs of internal storage, and both phones have three gigs of ram on them. So one of the interesting things is that um, the a20 actually performed way better with graphic performance than the a12 um.

Now we can do a real-world speed test, let's go ahead and get that going uh. First, let's pull up the benchmark scores all right. So here are the scores guys, as you can see, the a20 uh with the highest single core in just you know a higher multi-core. Just by one point. Let's see how this translates to real world use: let's go to uh YouTube a20.

Let's try Instagram eight! Oh! That was almost pretty much a tie right. If you guys can see the color difference like you see how vibrant it is and how kind of pale it is or dark. Subway surfer, it's like it's like the a20 ready to play open, samsung. com. It's like the a20 got it there and this one opened in the Samsung browser for some reason, all right so on the a12 uh graphic performance like we saw yesterday, um is going to give you low graphics and that's pretty much it.

So it's not a very impressive uh gaming phone and if we go to uh the a20 you'll see that we get superior graphics here now, as you can see on the a20 here, if you go to the graphics settings, we have medium settings so definitely better than low graphics. It looks a little better. So, overall, the 820 is going to be the more powerful device here. What the heck you all see that have some connection issues or something, let's check out the speaker quality, starting with the a20. I think the a12 is a little louder, but it's its barely yeah.

The a12 is a little louder, but barely louder uh than the 820. It's just a little thumping, but it's not so much louder. They both only have single firing speakers, but they both sound great they're, not distorting at a high volume uh, which is really nice to touch on the additional features again so again, the fingers print scanner is fast on both, as you can see it just comes down to which one you prefer, if you prefer it on the back. You also have faced unlock on both of these guys too um again, I prefer the one on the side I think it's faster to get to, and I don't have to pick the phone up to be able to access it as well and, like I said you have faced unlock you have NFC on board on both of these phones as well. One thing I noticed in the uh drop down menu is that you do not have a secure folder on the a12, so that is something I noticed now you have dark mode and pretty much.

Everything else is still uh on here, so they both pretty much have you know identical settings uh, but you are missing the secured uh folders for sure all right. So, let's talk about the camera, starting with the a12, so the a12, in my opinion, does have slightly better cameras than uh the a20, and that's mostly due to just it. Having better white balance is the main thing I notice now they both take the same kind of shots in terms of detail. Dynamic range um. They both pretty much look the same, but in like bright light conditions.

You get a more consistent shot with the a12 for sure, but I do prefer the selfie camera on the a20. I think the colors look better. It's not so much washed um, but yeah. You also get those extra lens, so you have 48 megapixel standard, a five megapixel ultra-wide 2 megapixel macro and a 2 megapixel depth. It shoots 1080p and the front cam is 8 megapixels the 820 definitely has or the a12 has the better cameras here uh.

I do think that the 820 has better very bad detail with the ultra-wide, but that's about um it. I prefer the video on the a12 as well. Now the a20 does not have bad cameras by any means. Uh, it's got a 13 megapixel standard at 5, megapixel ultra-wide. It also shoots in 1080p an 8 megapixel selfie 1080p uh, like I said, the main problem I noticed was just white balance on the a20 would be kind of off uh.

It just would be too bright, and it would kind of like wash out in certain scenarios but indoors. Furthermore, it really kills it. So it can just be a little inconsistent when shooting, but you get good detail, dynamic range. You get some really nice shots on the a20 for sure so, overall excellent cameras on both, but I do think the a12 has slightly better cameras. Alright.

So let's talk about battery life, so you will get better battery life on the a12 thanks to the 5 000 William battery, as opposed to the 4 000 William battery on the a20. Now the 820 is a battery life champ as well uh both of these phones. You cannot really kill in one day they're, both excellent uh one battery life. So do note that um so, which one would you guys prefer uh, the a20 or a12 be sure to. Let me know, and I'll catch you guys in the next one you.
