Samsung Galaxy A02 vs Samsung Galaxy A01 - Who Will Win?

Hey everybody- this is Anja here with the Kevin breeze channel and in this video we're going to be doing a comparison between the Samsung Galaxy a02 and the Samsung Galaxy a01. To get more information about the pricing and availability of the phones be sure to check the link in the description and to learn more about the individual phones themselves. Definitely watch the full reviews of the phones on the channel. Let's get started so the Samsung Galaxy a02 has a 6.5 inch, pl sips lcd with a resolution of 720p a PPI of 270, an aspect ratio of 20 by 9 and a screen to body ratio of 81.9 percent. The Samsung Galaxy a01 has a 5.7 inch, pls lcd with a resolution of 720p a PPI of 301, an aspect ratio of 19x9 and a screen to body ratio of 75.1 percent. So it's pretty clear that the Samsung Galaxy a02 is quite a bit bigger than the Samsung Galaxy a01.

As far as quality and everything goes, they are pretty much the same. So I would say the main difference here would be at the size and the Samsung Galaxy. A02 is definitely much bigger. This is going to be perfect for content, consumption and stuff. Like reading now, the Samsung Galaxy a02 has 64 gigabytes of internal storage and the Samsung Galaxy a01 has 16 gigabytes of internal storage.

So there's definitely a big difference here now also keep in mind the Samsung Galaxy a02 has not hit the US markets yet, and there are two variants of this phone right now: there's one with 64 gigabytes of internal storage, with three gigabytes of ram and there's another one with 32 gigabytes of internal storage, with two gigabytes of ram. So it's hard to say which one is actually going to be on the US market, if not both, but for the purposes of this video, this specific device is the one with 64 gigabytes of internal storage and three gigabytes of ram now either way. There is a huge difference in storage here on one hand with the Samsung Galaxy a01. This is a very small amount of storage. You're really not going to be able to do a lot with it, with the system and apps getting larger and larger you're going to have almost no space.

After hitting the bare minimum of things that you're gonna need on your phone for anything else. The micro SD card expansion does make a little of a difference, but really not a lot. Considering you can't run an app from a micro SD card. It's really better to just have more internal storage, the Samsung Galaxy a02. On the other hand, this specific variant has four times the internal storage of the a01.

So if you have a lot of photos and videos or if you have a lot of apps or a mixture of everything, it's going to be perfect to have the extra storage, because you're not going to be running into the problems that you would with the a01 when you go to add a bunch of apps on your phone, even with the 32 gigabyte variant, you're, still getting double the storage in the Samsung Galaxy a02 that you would in the Samsung Galaxy a01 and that's the lowest variant as far as storage and ram goes so no matter what the Samsung Galaxy a02 is. Going to have a huge advantage in storage over the Samsung Galaxy a01. So that's perfect to see one of the biggest cons I've always had for the Samsung Galaxy a01 that I really never liked was the storage. So I'm glad to see it that they've improved that with the newer model. Now neither of these phones have wireless charging or a fingerprint scanner, but the Samsung Galaxy e01 has faced unlock and the Samsung Galaxy a02.

Doesn't, so you're going to be stuck using a pen? No matter what you do with the Samsung Galaxy a02, whereas with the Samsung Galaxy a01, you're actually going to be able to use face, unlock to unlock your phone, so you do have an option besides having to put in a pin or password. So that's good. I don't really know why they took it away for the Samsung Galaxy a02. It doesn't make a lot of sense. I would think they would be adding features like a fingerprint scanner that I really wish the Samsung Galaxy a01 did have.

It would have been nice to see that at least on the a02, then I would have understood taking away the face unlock, but just taking away the face, unlock and making it, so you're stuck with a pin is really not a good look. Now with these camera setups here the Samsung Galaxy a02 has a 13 megapixel, rear camera and a 2 megapixel macro camera. The Samsung Galaxy e01 has a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel depth sensing camera. So it is nice that they added a macro camera onto the Samsung Galaxy e02, but on the other hand the a02, as you can see here, it doesn't have portrait mode, whereas the a01 does, so I'm not sure what they were thinking there. Portrait mode is such a common popular feature that I don't know why they would not only exclude it from a new phone, but also they didn't just exclude it.

The Samsung Galaxy a01 does have portrait mode, so they actually took the feature away, which doesn't make any sense at all. I don't think that was a good move, because portrait mode again is such a popular feature that it's really an expectation that any phone's camera would have it. So that is unfortunate, but at least the Samsung Galaxy a02 does have a macro camera. So that is a positive thing. Now these are photos taken by each phone.

The main difference I see between these two pictures is the brightness. I think the exposure and the lighting in general was handled a lot better with the a02 than it was in the picture taken by the a01. So that is a nice improvement, the quality of the image, the colors, the sharpness, the details. Everything is a little better with the Samsung Galaxy a02. So that is a positive.

These pictures were taken with the front-facing camera. I think that this difference is even more apparent. The details are actually pretty bad on the Samsung Galaxy e01, whereas with the a02 the details are actually pretty good. I don't really see anything wrong with the picture. It's not super high professional quality, but at the same time for an entry-level smartphone, front-facing camera.

It is actually pretty impressive compared to the Samsung Galaxy a01 front-facing camera. That really isn't that great now, both of these phones are able to shoot video in quality up to 1080p, so that hasn't changed, but you're still going to see. Basically, just that difference you saw on the camera there. I would guess the Samsung Galaxy a02 is gonna, be maybe, if not a ton better. Definitely the quality is gonna, be noticeably better than that of the a01.

Now internally, this version of the Samsung Galaxy a02 is getting three gigabytes of ram with the MediaTek mt6739w processor. We ran geek bench 5 benchmark tests on both of these phones and the a02 came back with a single core score of 106 and a multi-core score of 350. The Samsung Galaxy a01 is getting two gigabytes of ram with the Qualcomm snapdragon 439 processors, and this one came back with a single core score of 150 and a multi-core score of 539. So this is a bit of a downgrade the Samsung Galaxy a01 is for sure faster. Then again, looking at the bigger picture, these phones are both really lacking in the processing power department likely.

Neither of these are really going to be able to do a lot more than your basic phone activities. Maybe you could browse the web or go on social media with it, but really not a lot. These phones really are going to be meant for more basic features, because if you try to do something like video, editing or gaming or even photo editing, something like that, that requires more CPU. It's definitely not going to run that. Well, that being said, content consumption is still gonna, be great, especially with the Samsung Galaxy a02, with such a large display, but keep in mind that the Samsung Galaxy a01 is gonna.

Be able to do these activities a little better. Now the Samsung Galaxy a02 has a five thousand William hour battery and the Samsung Galaxy a01 has a 3 000 William hour battery, so that is a pretty big upgrade there, a 5, 000 William hour battery is probably the biggest battery you can get on a smartphone, at least as far as I've seen in the Samsung Galaxy a01, with a 3 000 William hour battery has one of the smallest batteries on the market. So this is a huge upgrade with the Samsung Galaxy a02 you're not only going to get more life per charge, but you're also going to have more longevity over time as the battery degrades you're really going to notice it with the a01 with such a small battery, whereas with the a02 you're not going to notice it as much and your battery is going to be able to hold up over the long run better now. In conclusion, which one of these devices is better- and is this really an upgrade- I would say yes and no- there are a lot of key features that I think are pretty important that we're a lot better on the Samsung Galaxy e01. But at the same time I do think an equal number of things have changed positively for the a02 to say it really depends on your needs.

For example, the screen on the a02 is so much bigger than the a01. That is definitely a good benefit, but on the other hand, they did take away the face, unlock and didn't add a fingerprint scanner, so that makes unlocking the phone super inconvenient, which can be really annoying, and it feels unnecessary, especially with a lot of other phones out there around a similar price range that actually do have faced, unlock and a fingerprint scanner, and if not, both at least one of them. Even the a01 has a face unlock so finding a phone where you don't have to put in a pin to unlock it is really not hard. So that is a huge drawback of the a02, which has neither option now. Another positive for the a02 that is an upgrade from the a01 is the battery.

The battery is much larger than the battery of the a01, so you're going to get a lot more life per charge, as well as more longevity down the road. Another thing I think is an upgrade is the camera. I do think this phone takes much better pictures than the Samsung Galaxy a01. At the same time, I don't think it's quite professional quality. If you really want to use your phone to take pictures for serious things, or at least things where you need more quality, then I probably wouldn't recommend either of these phones just because, even though their cameras are perfect, as Samsung cameras tend to be they're, not really quite at the level where you'd be taking professional portrait pictures or anything like that with these phones.

That being said, I do think it is a little of an upgrade from the Samsung Galaxy a01, but on the other hand, a big downside for this phone is, the processor is so much weaker than the Samsung Galaxy a01, the Samsung Galaxy easier. One has a much more powerful processor, but again at the same time, there are a lot of other phones out there in the same price range that have much more powerful processors. So that is something to keep in mind. If processing power is important enough to you for you to make a decision between these two. Based on that, I do think you could do a lot better.

So in general I do think the Samsung Galaxy a02 is an upgrade from the Samsung Galaxy a01, and it would be the better device. The Samsung Galaxy a01 does have some advantages over the a02, however, mainly face unlock and the processor. But if you are in the market for a device that does have a faster processor, I do think you can do a lot better in as far as face unlock and the fingerprint scanner that neither of these phones have. There are definitely phones out there again in a similar price range that are going to have those features. But I hope you guys enjoyed the video if you did be sure to leave a thumbs up and subscribe, and I will see you guys in the next video.
