Samsung Galaxy A01 Unboxing & First Impressions!

Hey guys how's it going in this video, we're gonna, be doing an unboxing, and I'm going to give my first impressions on the galaxy 8:01 now about a week ago. I had no idea this phone even existed. Chances are good, you didn't know it existed either, so we're going to see what this phone's about whose it for and if it's worth the money. So this is in addition to Samsung's Galaxy, a line which we've been covering here on the channel, except this is a much more affordable device. I pick this up on Amazon for a hundred twenty-eight dollars down in the description if you're interested. So what are we getting here for a hundred twenty-eight dollars? Well, you can see here on the front we're getting a 5.7 inch display we're getting a 720p screen on that display. We're getting two gigabytes of RAM have a three thousand William hour battery and some other specs we'll get into here once we get into the device, but we do have Android 10 on this we have Samsung 1 UI 2.0, so hopefully those software enhancements will make this an enjoyable experience. So, let's go ahead and check out the a01.

Have our paperwork right on top here wonder if we get a case with this looks like we do not get a case here, even though there's been a case with all the other Samsung Galaxy a line device. Here's our device we'll check that out in a second here we have what looks to be a 5 watt charger in the Box Samsung pulling some Apple antics. Here we have a USB, a 2 micro, USB cable here in the box, looks like this is sporting a micro USB port, not USB type-c have our sim ejection tool and on the bottom here we have our headphones. We do have a headphone jack on this device, except it'll be found on the top, and these look to be the same earbuds that came with the Galaxy, a 51 which were pretty low quality, but still it's nice that it's included in the box. Alright- and here is our galaxy, a 0 1.

So we have our infinity V display, which is just the teardrop design. Here on the front facing camera, we have a dual camera setup here on the back, and I've actually been hearing good things about these cameras from this phone, so we'll definitely check those out later in the video and our outscore processor, we have a snapdragon 439 in this device and an Arena 505 GPU, so we'll see how this phone performs. So we have a plastic back here. We also have plastic sidings. This is a matte finish on the back here on the right side.

Here we have our power button, and we also have a dual SIM setup with a micro SD card slot, which will be very important. She'll talk about in a minute. Here we have a little grill up on the top here. I'm guessing that'll, be our earpiece. There's our camera cut out.

There have our headphone jack on the top, and we have our volume rockers on the left side of the device and on the bottom of the device. We have a little mic here, have our microUSB port- and this looks to be our speaker here on the back of the device opposed to the bottom of the device. Has a nice feel in the hand, but let's go ahead and boot up. So first thing: I noticed right off. The bat here is that if you're, not looking at the screen straight on you're going to have significant portions of that screen dim out so I.

Guess you don't want people to see what you're doing on your phone I guess. That would be a good advantage to that, but definitely not the type of display we're accustomed to seeing and using again we have our 5.7 inch display a little of chin here on the bottom, a little of extra bezel on the sides and the teardrop on the top isn't too intrusive with the screen. Overall, you could definitely get by with this now. Another very important thing to consider this device is that it has 16 gigabytes of storage, so a very low amount of storage, so you'll definitely have to pick up a micro SD card I have the Samsung 128 gigabytes one here. These only cost like 20 bucks, all right, so we're still transferring some data over here to the phone and on camera.

Here you can see the device kind of dim out, depending on what angle you're looking at it, but when you're looking at the phone straight on, you can see it perfectly fine, it's perfectly bright enough. I have it at max brightness right now. This is definitely bright. Enough can see everything you're doing you're, not gonna, miss out on any of that. All right, so I've been using the galaxy a 0 or 1 here for a couple of hours and I want to give you guys some first impressions I have on this device so, first and foremost, we'll start off with the face unlock.

So there is facial recognition on this phone. We'll take a look at that now. So definitely not the fastest we've ever seen, but it does work. Next is just general usage of the phone, so the phone is pretty slow. Of course, we have one UI 2.0 on here: Android 10, the latest software you can get, which is great to see you have all the same functionalities, pretty much as you would on a flagship device, but it's just a lot slower in whatever it is. You are doing scrolling through YouTube.

Here I mean it looks a little laggy, but I mean it's fine. It gets the job done now. Also in my initial testing here, watching YouTube content has been perfectly fine, I'm pleased with it. Okay and now a quick speaker test for you guys, as we mentioned before, there's just that one speaker there on the bottom corner of the device. Now one thing you'll notice is that if you have the volume at max it will clip out, but when you're around that 80 to 90 percent volume level, it actually sounds fine and there's no clipping or any bit of that Distortion.

So, yes, audio is better on the galaxy a51, but really for 128 bucks. Speakers seem to be okay, and they do sound fine, just as long as you're, not at that max volume where stuff is gonna, distort and clip out and not sound that pretty alright. So next is gonna. Do a quick call test, hey what are you doing? Oh, okay! Well, I was just calling you on my new phone. How do you think I sound a little echoed? Okay? Well, you don't sound too bad.

You are on speaker all right. Let me try you on the earpiece. Alright, how do I sound now crystal clear? Well, yeah, okay, great you don't sound too bad either! Okay! Well, I'll leave you alone. Now, all right, so call quality is fine on the device. You might just be picking this up as like a backup phone and knowing that it can at least make good phone calls and text okay.

It might be a worthy consideration. Alright, next I want to try a little of gaming. We do have two gigabytes of RAM, so let's see how that performs. All right so I have called duty. Mobile booted up here on the low graphical settings, see how it performs, so yeah initial test here looks like you will be able to game on this device.

So I know this was a small test, but gaming actually seems to be fine here cameras. So this camera setup has a 13. Megapixel main lens has a two megapixel depth sensor. So it's going to help with focusing on your subject blurring out things in the background, help with those live focus shots and in terms of video footage, we can shoot 1080p 30 on this device, which is what I film anyway. For all my YouTube videos, we have a pro mode, we can take panorama shots, and we also have that live focus.

So let's go ahead and do a couple tests here. First things: first here we'll just take a standard shot. So there's no sort of image stabilization here, so you're going to have to have a steady hand for a steady shot. Alright, now we'll try our live focus here for what you're paying here. This seems to be an all right.

Camera experience alright, so first impressions here of the galaxy, a 0 1 for the $128 that I paid for this device. Things are obviously going to be a little slower compared to higher spec devices. We have a micro, USB port. We just have that single speaker on the back. That seems to clip out, honestly.

The screen size is fine. That is not a concern at all. We do a 720p resolution display, but the fact that this has a 3000 William hour battery and that lower resolution display should mean excellent battery life. Phone calls have been fine, I've been doing some texting on the device with no issues watching YouTube has been enjoyable. Web browsing is fine shopping on the web basic tasks perfectly fine I was also able to play some Call of Duty mobile at low graphical settings, and it was perfectly fine in my testing facial-recognition kind of slow, but it's nice to see it here on a device this inexpensive.

So honestly, the a01. Here it's going to be a great device. If your kid has been constantly asking for a phone I think it's a great backup phone. If you have a more expensive device- and you might be going somewhere that you don't want something to happen to it, you can easily take this along with you, throw this in your bag. It's just nice to have there as a backup, but if your budget allows it I highly recommend considering the galaxy a 51 I know, this is twice the price at just under three hundred dollars, but this is going to do a lot of the things that your flagship devices do and just has a much better feeling experience here.

Overall, but again it all comes down to price and the a01 at $128 at that price. I can recommend it, but I'm curious to hear your thoughts on the galaxy a zero one.
