S10 Plus vs Note 9 - The ULTIMATE Camera Comparison!

Welcome everyone to another ultimate senator Kerrigan person, this time between the Samsung Galaxy, S, 10 plus, and the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Samsung's previous high-end smartphone- and this is probably one of the most detailed camera comparisons you've ever seen. It has 25 different individual test categories with two to three tests for each of them: testing on everything from HDR shots, macro, zoom, wide, pour channel front and back low-light back low I'd back would flash front the lights with and without flash panorama, time-lapse and pretty much everything you can think of the previous Ultimo character. Person was between the Samsung Galaxy s, 10 plus, and the iPhone 10s max. So this one is between the SN plus and the note 9. Everything is on auto by the way I haven't even tapped to focus or tap to expose, and this is a fascinating comparison to do, because you see they both have exactly the same cameras with exceptional TSM plus having that wide-angle lens, but the main and the telephoto modules are actually identical between the SN plus and the Samsung Galaxy note, 9 also fun fact: the no 9 had the same modules as the s9, so yeah, the FM plus and yes, nine from last year have the same module. With exception to you, know this having that wide-angle lens.

So the real battle is between that wide-angle lens and also the software optimization that we got. You know with future and more advanced processing in PS 10, so I got some stacks because you'll need all of those some drinks, because this is going to be one long. Video, also that giveaway of the Galaxy Buds is still going by the way. So if you want to win a pair of Samsung Galaxy Buds, all you have to do is be a subscriber of the channel and also follow-on Instagram and sort of tech, and then leave a comment on this post. The one with the render of the s10 plus and Samsung Galaxy s than a saying.

Why would you want to win a pair of galaxies, but I'll be announcing the winners on April the 1st again, not a joke I've to say this in every video, not a joke, but that's literally three weeks from when this giveaway started so yeah. Let's have a look which one has a better camera. Obviously that's tank, but let's see how much better, okay, so starting off with the back facing camera, and then we'll move on to the front facing camera towards the end of this video. So in terms of the first category, we have this normal shot taken under the street and here in this one, they're, actually both very, very similar, the s10 plus is brighter it's more vibrant, so I do prefer ds-10, even though the note 9 was more true to life. Moving on to HDR shots on this first one, we have the famous gazebo that's being present and pretty much every single zone of the Karakul person, and this is actually a really difficult one to take, because there's lots of bright areas towards the top of the image and a lot of dark areas and shadows behind the trees, so to say a really difficult, HDR to get right and again, very similar to what we have seen with the first image.

So the s10 has brightened up the shadows, a bit more. The ball on the top of the gazebo isn't blown out on yes, 10 and same applies to the great border of the gazebo, so the s10 captured a much more refined HDR, but not a massive difference from the nodes. Moving on to the second shot of this really reflective building- and here again a very similar result. The SM+ is brighter the colors pop a bit more, and it's a more processed image, but definitely in a good way, and now we have an even more difficult HDR to take. Then the gazebo was so here we have a lot of shadows on the bottom section of the image from those from the brickwork and the image itself was very bright: the scenery in real life- and here we can finally see a big difference.

So the note 9 messed up the color tone quite a bit. The brickwork was just too green. The no 9 was interesting enough brighter, but yes, then processed everything, much better. Moving on to the macro test. So in this one wow I'm impressed amazing macro Combo.

This was taken six centimeters away from the object and yeah from tennis max, for example, it couldn't even focus this up close, so yeah. The SM+ is a bit sharper when compared to the No 9. If you look around the top of the rocks and the know now is sharper on the coin itself, but both of them did an amazing job. Moving on to the zoom category, this is with both using the telephoto lens and here they're. Very, very similar I do like to know 9 more a bits because it's more vibrant is brighter.

It's a bit on the warmer side, but this is how the scene actually looked like in real life rather than you know the bluish tint that the s10 plus had and one of the main advantages of the s10 plus, is that wide-angle lens. So let's have a look at this shot and see if it's really that good from the note 9 shot. So here this is the shot taking on the s10 plus zoomed in so disability' for lens. This is the regular shot on both and now this is the s10 plus with a wide angle lens. So yeah as you can see, it's quite amazing, so it can capture so much more in the scene, so much more in the shots.

Now, if you take a look at their known on when comparing the regular shots, it looked, so contrast see and the color was basically missing it almost entirely from the trees so yeah, the s10 Plus did an amazing job, we're not just the color processing of this shot, but also, obviously, the water cleanse, which is pretty amazing, to have you gone through portion of all shots taken with a back facing camera and I know what you're going to say: Jesus Daniel your hair, yeah I know it was. It was crazy, windy, there's a storm in the UK, and this was literally the only sunny day, and we had it, so we take. We took all those shots in that day, but yeah it was still crazy windy and these shots were taken from the same distance on both and the SM+ uses the wide angle lens reason white. So it's a wide and so zoomed out. The no.9, however, uses a telephoto lens. Now here's the second image on the s10.

This is obviously from a much closer distance. Basically, we tried recreating the same framing as no.9 hand and here they're much more similar, but again the s10 processed everything so nicely. Even the DEF selection is better on the s10. If you look at my hair, so yeah, it's very impressive. How well it managed to separate it from the background, considering that it was crazy when the outside- and you know my hair- was constantly moving onto the panorama tests.

Okay, this is a pretty interesting one. So this is the shot taken from the s10. It's really, really wide, so it uses the wide-angle lens, and because of this you get a ton of distortion for close-up objects, but you know if it didn't have. If I didn't have any closer objects there, it would have looked really, really nice. The no.9, however, also looks amazing. There's no distortion at all on any of the gloss of objects.

You know, of course, that the angle of the lens was different, and I couldn't get the exact same objects in the scene, but both of these are different in terms of the size as well, so the no.9 was 38.4 megapixels. The SN+ was 28.2 megapixels, so here I would go with the no 9 panorama, but if you only had a landscape and no closeup objects at all, in that case, the SN+ panorama would have been a better choice. I really wish that Samsung would release a software update so that they will allow you to use the regular module forward taking panoramas as well, because right now, you're limited to just using that wide-angle lens, you cannot switch between them, which is quite bad, for you know cases like this when you have some really close up objects. In that case they would be heavily distorted. Hooking onto video taken on the back facing camera in 4k, 60, and here something fascinating is that the no 9 had a bit rate of 73 megabits per second, the SN+ had a bit rate of 42 megabits per second, so that's really odd.

Almost doubled the nitrate on the no 9 at the exact same frame rate, but I ran that the videos look almost identical on both the SN Plus is a bit warmer and the clouds are not blown out as on the no 9. The s10 is also brighter, but you know, aside from this they're, both really, really close. Most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two if they didn't know which one was which now something that I really need to point out when it comes to recording video is that there is finally no more recording limits on the s10 plus at all or the S stands so up until now, you actually had a five-minute recording limit when you did 4k 60 videos and a 10-minute recording video for 4k 30 videos. Now, if you record a video, that's over I believe 7 minutes in length on yes, then plus it would still split that video and multiple files, which is a bit disappointing, but seel. It's an improvement that at least that doesn't stop the recording when you've reached at 5 minute mark, because 109, and currently it currently does speak of video.

Let's move on to slow-motion, and here they both take the same resolution, video 720p and 960 frames per second as the slowest. However, something interesting is that the SM+ had a file size of twenty-eight megabytes versus 14 megabytes on the no nine, so yeah there's more detail in the s10 Plus shot. Everything is a bit sharper. Both are 720p but an own eye. It looks like I, don't know, 144 P and yes, then plus looks like 480p, so yeah they're, both pretty bad but yes, n+ is noticeably sharper.

If you take a look at the knife, for example, but honestly recording slow-motion on these, it was a pain. So if you used the super slow-motion function, the one with 960 frames per second, you can either have it so that it automatically starts. When motion is detected in a tiny Square and most of the time it doesn't even work. So, for example, what we think we did this shot like five times. We tried five takes until it finally worked just because it used to it started the recording when something went in framer- and you know when something moved so yeah.

It was a really, really difficult one to take and even when you disable that it's glitched by the way- and it only takes still so recording slow motion on the estate and a moment and the no.9 is a awful experience when he compared us to the pixel 3 Rd iPhones, also speaking of videos, let's move on to time lapses. So here D SM+ recorded this in 1080p 17 megabits per second, and exactly the same on the note 9, so yeah they're both really, really bad. At the resolution, the nitrate is horrible, 1080p 17 megabits per second. What's what's that? That's awful! So I, don't know, I really, don't know why no smartphone manufacturer focuses on this because realistically recording a time-lapse is easier than recording, 4k 60 video. All you have to do is just take shots at specific times, so every shot, let's say every 5 seconds or so, and then you combine those shots after you've taken all of them in post to make a video.

So it's really, really easy to do on the processor. There's a lot of cameras that can do that already, but it's stuck at the moment to 1080p 17 megabits per second, so the quality is awful. I really hope that a manufacturer the manufacturers will start focusing on this in the future, because at the moment no one really does but inches of the actual image quality. The no.9 looks sharper here a bit interesting enough for the s.10 looks quite muddy and soft, and now, let's do a stabilization test. So this first one of them for k 60 on both, and it's pretty bad interesting enough.

The no.9 has a bit better stabilisation. At least it seems so, so yeah for Q 60, for whatever reason the no 9 is better, but if you switch to 4k 30, there's a completely different story here, because both actually process the video and stabilize it in post and here well, the SM+ does a significantly better job than the known I. Now remember when, at a Samsung event, something talked about a super, steady mode that crazy, stable stabilisation. Well, you can actually enable that from the settings, however, it restricts the resolution to 1080p 30 frames per second at 8 megabits per second, so you had. A quality is horrible, but hey at least it's disabled.

So ya know what no one wants to use that concept. So, moving on to the autofocusing speed test, they're, both really, really quick I, would say that they're pretty much identical in terms of autofocusing speed, so both of them are good for when you want to record some fast-moving subjects. Okay, so now what about slow lights? Well, in this first chart here, I actually like the no.9 way more than yes 10:1 and as less noise in the sky, it's brighter, it's not as overly sharpen in post as the s10 one is, so I'm not really sure what happens. We just I'm shot here, moving onto the second shot of these trees in this one, there's barely any difference between the two, the no nine was slightly warmer, but that's about it. Moving on to this third shot here, I wanted to see how they would both handle those lights, and we have a similar HT to what we had in the first low light shot.

So the sky is crazy, noisy understand, even the wall on the Left even down one is very soft on yes, 10% no.9, so yeah really enough. There seems to be an issue with the s10 when it comes to low-light photography at the moment where it actually uses a very high shutter speed and they also a very high ISO, and then you get you know, results such as this one. So I really hope that Samsung fixes this in a future update, because at the moment, that's not great. So what about low light would flash well? And this one, it's quite obvious that both images were taken with the flash turned on. However, it's way more obvious that the flash was used on the note 9.

So the s10 takes this one by a significant margin. Next up, we have a more up-close flash shot and in this one they both look almost identical. So I do like yes, then, a bit more, just because it's a more contrast, II but yeah over, like I, said they're, both extremely similar. So what about low-light? But this time with the zoom module, that's usually worse in the light than the mid-line is so, let's have a look so in this one they're actually very similar again. The s10 plus is a bit more in focus and sharper.

If you zoom even further- and you take a look at those grids and then what about the wide-angle module? So here this was taken on both from the same angle, and again you can see how much better the no.9 is in low-light again same as you would yes 10. So yeah I really hope that Samsung faces this in a future software update because it's happening with every single shot. But if you zoom out- and you look at the wide angle shot, this is darker. However, the sky isn't as noisy as with the main module. Yes, the F 1.5 aperture was actually using this one in the main model shots. So yeah I do believe that this is a soft rubbery like I said because it seems to only be affecting the main module and not the wide-angle or even so photo move you out to some low-light video taking on the back facing camera, and this was recording in 4k 30 on both of them, and here the s10 looks extremely noisy again, so we have the same issue as before, and that's because it's using that high shutter speed and at higher ISO in order to compensate for the lack of light.

So you know, like I, said software issue, because right now, right now, the no 9 is better in every single way when it comes to low-light performance, and they should at least be the same if you're onto the front-facing camera. This is an all shot taken in the studio and the whole idea of this was trying to recreate. What do you guys see right now? This was taken to Panasonic gh4, which shot of these is actually closer. But in my opinion, it's the Samsung Galaxy S 10, it's brighter it's sharper, so I do like that, but it completely killed off my turtleneck, so yeah the blacks were crushed, and the ridges were almost gone entirely. So yeah the processing was just a bit too aggressive on the s10, so yeah let me know comes, though, which one do you prefer moving on to some front-facing HDR shots.

So this is actually very similar on both aside from the fact that, yes, that is more zoomed in the no.9 blew out the highlights of my face, while the s10 actually got. Everything perfectly exposed also keep in mind that the s10 Plus has a 10 megapixel, front-facing camera versus 8 megapixels on the no 9. Now something cool about the SN is that it can actually zoom out and capture a slightly wider selfie, which is about the same as the no 9, because the regular one is actually cropped in software okay. So this is a front-facing camera test of the Samsung Galaxy s, 10 plus, and the Samsung Galaxy milk 9, so yeah, which one looks better into the VAR processing. The highlights which one process of the highlights better.

As far as I can tell they're, both quite blown out also, the SM+ can do 4k video recording versus quad HD on the note, 9 also the microphone, which one sounds better. Let me know in the comments. Okay, now, let's take a look at some portrait mode, shots taken with a front-facing camera and when it comes to the def mapping, it's actually better on the s10. As expected, the note I messed up my hair quite a bit. Also, there is more blur on the SN+ image and that's because the SM+ has the dual front-facing camera module in the front versus you know the single one on the no.9, so yeah definitely seems to work on the SM+. Now, in terms of the actual show, the node 9 looks more natural, the s10 pulls out much more color from the sky, and you know the note not actually blew that out completely so yeah.

Yes, then easily takes this one, also there's a few cool effects that Samsung added the portrait mode for the s10 and all of those seem to work quite nicely, moving on to front-facing camera, but this time in low lights. So here, okay, they're awful they're, both awful the s10 plus, is a bit sharper. The no 9 is a bit brighter, but you know blurrier, so I don't like either of them to be honest, moving on to low light, but it's time with the flash. The SM+ is warmer, the no lines flash was a bit too bright. So here it's a matter of preference.

I would personally go with the s10 Plus, since it doesn't make the image look as if it was taken to flash, even though it actually was. Okay, so does their front-facing camera a test in low lights between the Samsung, Galaxy, S, 10, plus and the nodes nine. Let me know which one sounds better. First and then also which one looks better. No nine does quantity, video in low lights, and you know in general and then 4k on the Galaxy stem plus okay.

So in the end, which one has a better camera, the SM+ or the Samsung, Galaxy Note nine. Well, you probably all expected yes 10, plus to win and yeah it's. You know quite obvious: it's a newer phone and has a better camera, but in terms of how much better while the processing is better, you know it's a newer processor, so it can be more so yeah. The processing image processing is better on the s10 by quite a bit of colors is more vibrant. The images themselves are brighter when it comes to the portrait mode on the front, it's again better on the s10 plus thanks to those dual front-facing camera.

So if you take a lot of selfies with portrait mode with a front-facing camera and then the SM+ is a better choice but interesting enough, like I said before, yes, then plus seems to be worse in low lights, then the no nod which doesn't make sense because it should be like I said at least as good as the previous model. Even though you know the camera mantras are the same processing should make it a bit better. But it's its not. It's actually worse, so that's a softer issue really hope that it's fixed, but aren't that they're. Both amazing cameras, if you're thinking of upgrading from the no 9 CD SM+, don't do it.

The wide-angle module is really nice by the way. But if you don't need that, then you're actually going to lose any moments on the nights shots. Well, let me know the comments which one do you prefer, which one would you pick? Probably the SM+, or maybe you like this one for the night shots at the moment, because it's glitched on this, so I'm gonna comments which one you prefer also that give way like I said before it's still going the Samsung Galaxy Buds giveaway. So if you own I'm, going to pair again, business cards channel, follow-on Instagram ones on off. Second leaves a comment on this post saying: why would you want to win a pair of Samsung, Galaxy Buds, and I'll be announcing the winners tonight for the first again, another joke also check out the blind camera tests that we've done a few days ago.

This is pretty cool because it compares not just the s10 with the iPhone tennis max, which is a separate video as well, but also some more phones such as the pixel 3 XL. So and you don't know which one is which, so that's a pretty interesting one, a brand a definitely subscribe applications if you're new to the channel- and you want to see more in depth tech videos like this one yeah. This has been pretty much it. Thank you for watching, I'm, Daniel and I'll see you guys in the next call video, which is almost every single day. Okay,.
