I'm drinking coffee today, just kidding, I'm thinking chad like I would never do chai- is the best I do like coffee. It's not like. I don't like coffee. Coffee is great, but chai is a legend, wait for it: father child love, man- oh hey, guys, harsh here and welcome back to technology. Pixel 4a is finally here in India it's been a weird couple of years for pixel phones in India, especially they did not launch the pixel 4 and 4 XL, and neither did they launch the pixel 5 series, it's just the one phone for this year and that is Pixel 4a, but nevertheless we do have a pixel phone for this year and I did buy it now. As always, I have been clicking a lot of photos and videos with the Pixel 4a, because it is a camera-centric phone now today in this video.
Let's talk about those photos and videos- and this is my full camera review of the Pixel 4a- sit back, relax and enjoy right off the bat. Let's talk about the camera hardware, which is very easy this time around because there is a single rear camera. It's a 12 megapixel camera with an aperture of f 1.7, so no crazy numbers over here, no 64 megapixel, no 108 megapixel, it's just a single 12 megapixel camera, and it can shoot some perfect photos and that's mainly because of the software. Let's start by talking about day lighting conditions. When you give this camera a lot of light, it shines it shoots.
Some awesome photos like the dynamic range of the photos is excellent. The shadows and the highlights are exposed in a very good way, and none of the areas are over exposed as such, like there are no blown up, highlights or very dark shadows. Everything is exposed very good, at least in terms of day lighting conditions, and this is a very consistent camera. It's not like the dynamic range is good in one photo and bad in another photo nope. Nothing like that.
The dynamic range is consistent throughout, and that is a very good thing. The next point that comes in is white balance. Here's where the consistency point is still valid. It is very consistent in terms of white balance. White balance is one of the most important things while clicking photos and google software does a very good job in terms of auto adjusting the white balance.
Now, if you're a photographer and shoot in manual mode, then obviously you will control the white balance yourself, but this is a smartphone which shoots in auto mode and during that auto mode it does a very good job. In terms of auto adjusting the white balance, it is consistent throughout you might ask what about them colors, so the colors are natural, but the saturation is a little on the higher side and same goes for the contrast. So the images are contrast and saturated, but not to the extent where they look unnatural. So it's like the saturation and contrast. Slider have been moved to the right just a little and that's exactly what I would do if I were editing the photo in Lightroom, so the software already does that, and it does not overdo it like it's in the right proportion and that's why the images do look good in terms of day lighting conditions, all right.
So there's one thing that I forgot to talk about, and that is detailed level. Despite having a 12 megapixel sensor, it does manage to capture a lot of detail. So if you want to crop into the frame, you can do that easily and even while editing you have a lot of room to change the colors. The highlights the shadows without losing a lot of detail, so no problem over there. So to sum up for day lighting conditions, the Google Pixel 4a shoots some really awesome photos, and it is very consistent.
The next part is portrait photography. This phone comes with a portrait mode, and it is a software portrait mode. It does not have a secondary depth sensor or even a telephoto camera. For that matter it is doing portrait mode via software and portrait mode is grayish. It's not the most consistent out there like it does miss the edges sometimes, and the background blur is sometimes way too unnatural, like you can easily tell that this is a software portrait mode.
So, frankly, I was not happy with the portrait mode. I thought that it would do a very good job, but that's not the case. It's like a normal portrait mode, nothing exciting over here, all right. Let's move our attention towards artificial and low lighting conditions in terms of artificial lighting conditions. You will not have to use night sight.
The normal mode itself is able to shoot some pretty good photos in artificial lighting conditions. The photos are detailed. The white balance is on point. The colors are on point. The exposure is right, and the dynamic range is excellent.
So in terms of artificial lighting conditions, there's no need of using night sight. So where should you use night sight? Night sight should be used in extreme low light scenarios where you know that the normal camera mode will not click a good picture. So in those scenarios, night sight shines, and it's like the best night mode out there. It does a very good job in capturing a good photo excuse that a great photo in terms of low lighting conditions. It's on point in terms of exposure, detail level and, to some extent, white balance.
The white balance is off. Sometimes it's not the most consistent in terms of white balance, but apart from that, everything else is perfect for night sight. So when you're shooting indoors or in extreme low lighting conditions, you're pretty much covered with the Pixel 4a, it does a very good job in capturing great photos. Now, let's have a quick word from Suraj about the Google Pixel 4's camera experience. He also has used this phone and let's see what he has to say.
So, as my man, the stage is yours and take it away what's happening guys, my name is Suraj Hutu and I run a YouTube channel called Suraj Purdue. Where I talk about video production, photography and tech, I had the chance to use the Google Pixel 4a for a couple of days shared a lot of photos with it and honestly, my experience with it was perfect might sound like an easy answer to give, but that's how it is it's like a no fluff straight to the point, camera that is extremely easy to use and produces some great results. I do wish it had like some kind of ultra white lens or an actual telephoto lens. It did not. But apart from that, I think the phone camera itself is great.
My favorite feature of the 4a is not its amazing colors, it's not the amazing low light, but it's actually just how small the device is. I don't think we talk about this enough, but I think that the 4a is an extremely practical phone, it's quite small, and it makes it super easy to use. I often find myself in situations where I don't have much time to take a photo, or I just you know, have to quickly grab the phone and take your photo with a single hand, and for that I think the 4a is great like for stuff, like you know, shooting from the back seat of a two-wheeler or putting your hand out of a window and taking a picture of from a moving bus, or something like that. Furthermore, I think the 4a is quite practical for stuff like that, and I don't recommend that you always do that. It's not safe, you might drop your phone do that at your own risk, but like I think the fact that it's so small makes it quite practical.
It makes it quite compact, and it's just it just allows you to focus on the craft. I think that it's a no camera, it's a no camera experience. It's a no phone! I even compared to the OnePlus 8 pro over on my channel, and I don't want to give too much away. Actually, I think you guys may already know you guys may have guessed the four rated win in most cases not really a surprise, but if you want to check out that video that's over on my channel but yeah all around Pixel 4a excellent cameras, extremely simple user experience, I highly recommend it probably the best in class and uh yeah. That's what I have to say about the Pixel 4a harsh.
Thank you so much for having me. I really appreciate it, and hopefully I'll see you guys again soon, don't forget to subscribe to Suraj's channel. I will make sure to drop a link to it in the description box below so that was photography. Google Pixel 4a does not disappoint when it comes to clicking photos, but I cannot say the same about videos. It can shoot 4k at 30 fps.
The stabilization is good, but the dynamic range is all over the place and even the colors are a bit off. So it's not the best phone out there for shooting videos. It will shoot normal videos, nothing exciting. Over there, I would say iPhone. Sc is still the best budget phone for shooting videos.
This gets me to the front camera. Pixel 4a comes with an 8 megapixel front camera with an aperture of f 2.0. The front camera performance is ok. I am slightly disappointed with the selfies, mainly because of the softness, so the images are soft and there is not a lot of detail in them. Selfies should be sharp, not too sharp, but they should be sharp to some extent so that they look good, but that is absent on the Pixel 4a, so the images are soft.
Now, apart from that, the skin tones are natural, and the colors are pretty good, so if they just add some sharpness via a software update, then yeah the selfie camera would be better. So if someone from Google is watching this, I highly doubt that, but if someone from Google is watching this, please address this issue. Alright, this is a very quick front. Camera video test of the Pixel 4a. Do, let me know about the audio quality as well as about the video quality in the comment section down below overall Pixel 4a, as expected, has a great camera experience, there's just one camera, and it is a no-nonsense camera.
It's straight up. Shoots perfect photos, it's consistent, and I would trust it to shoot good photos. So, if I'm carrying a couple of phones with me, one of them being the Pixel 4a, I am going to use that phone to shoot photos because it is consistent. So that is a very big point over here. I'm going to say: Pixel 4a is the best camera phone for around 30 000 rupees for shooting photos.
That's it only for shooting photos not for videos, and please keep that in mind. So that's been it. This was my full camera review of the Pixel 4a. Do let me know how you feel about this video in the comment section down below. If you haven't already please subscribe to the channel, it would mean the world to me.
My name is harsh Punjabi, and I'll see you guys in the next one bye, bye.
