M1 iPad Pro 12.9 Inch (2021) - Unboxing, New Features & Mini LED Display Comparison

Hi guys welcome to my channel, so I have the 12.9-inch m1 iPad Pro here. It's the base, 128 gigabyte storage option which comes with 8 gigs of ram in this video. Let's unbox it check out all the new features and, more importantly, let's check and compare that mini, led Dr super retina display with last year's iPad Pro and iPad Air models, which I also have here and let's see how much difference it makes guys. I know you have seen your favorite bunch of YouTubers already unbox and review this iPad model as they do get review units sent over well in advance. I, on the other hand, buy this with my own cash and try to give you a clear picture on how these devices fit into your daily lifestyle and usage. Furthermore, I will link down below all my iPad video playlists, so you can check the in-depth review and comparison which I do on my channel.

Hopefully with those I can earn your subscription as it really helps my channel to make its presence felt in today's saturated YouTube land. So please support me guys, as there is only so much I can do on my own and with your support, I can review many more gadgets on my channel, sorry that took up a bit but no further delay. Let's unbox this wow, I forgot how big this thing is. Besides playing with it at an Apple Store, I never owned the bigger size iPad. This thing is big and a bit heavy as well, not a lot, but it's about 41 grams.

More than last year's model, I've gone for the silver color here, and it looks stunning: let's quickly do the box as well usual guide, apple stickers and then the power brick along with USB type-c cable. Can I take a moment and mention that this still is the 20 watt charger which you get with the iPad Air as well? Even such a big tablet and battery, you still get the same tiny charger, which apple at least included the 30 watts which they do with the MacBook airs. Let's set this up and the iPad is all up and running. Let's look at all the new features, starting right with that form factor. The iPad looks absolutely identical to leis gen's model.

Just the weight has gone up by 41 grams and the thickness, also by 0.2 inches, making apple offer an entire new gen magic keyboard. The old one will work as well, but it will be a snug fit. The 12.9 inch model also gets a slightly bigger battery due to that increase in thickness. It's now almost 40.8 watt hour compared to last year's 36.7 watt hours, but despite the increase of battery size and capacity, the battery life still stays the same as last year. Next, let's look at the cameras.

The cameras at the back stay the same: 12 million pixels wide and 10 million pixel ultra-wide lenses with LIDAR scanner and true tone flash, but when it comes to video recording it gives you extended dynamic range for up to 30 frames per second now the front cameras get the biggest upgrade possible bumping the resolution from 7 million pixels to a whopping 12 million pixels, and it also gets an ultra-wide field of view which allows this new feature called center stage. Center stage will allow the camera to keep you in focus and move along with you when you're using it for FaceTime and video calls. This is really a cool feature, considering how the pandemic changed our lives and made us resort to virtual hangouts and video calls with friends and family. The center stage also refocuses, if others join in the call it works brilliantly without you having to move the device or change the orientation to cover the viewing angle. Next, the USB type-c connector also gets upgraded to support thunderbolt and usb4.

This allows you to hook up apple's 6k monitors and connect thunderbolt drives for faster data speeds. The cellular version also gets 5g support now. So, if you're, a person who uses the iPad on the go and do not want to tether it with your iPhone for data sharing, then you get full 5g speeds. If you get that cellular version next, let's quickly check the quality of the speakers. Since this is the bigger model, I will fit some really amazing quality speakers in it, and this is how they sound.

Next. Let's talk about the power under that hood. This is where the iPad Pro also gets a substantial speed bump compared to last year's model. It gets apple's amazing m1 chip under the hood. I've reviewed the m1 MacBook Air on my channel, and it simply performed brilliantly.

It is the best laptop I've ever used, and that was not even a fully specked one. It was the base one with seven core GPU, but on this iPad Pro, you don't get that seven core GPU option at all the base model starts with the fully specked 8 core GPU version, with 8 cores of CPU and 8 gigs of ram. The 1 and 2 terabyte storage options will get 16 gigs of ram. Now that's insane numbers for iPads, who always were conservative when it came to the amount of ram, but not this time you can just imagine how fully loaded this iPad is even more than what's needed. I'm going to do an in-depth comparison test with the iPad Air, 4 and last year's iPad Pro and those videos will be up next.

So please subscribe guys and turn on the notification, so you will be notified as soon as those videos go live. Finally, let's get on to that showstopper that mini, led Dr super retina display. The main aim of this display is to give you deeper, colors and better contrast ratios similar to sleds, but without any of the downsides which the sleds have like pixel degradation and screen burn issues talking in tech terms. Last year's iPad Pro has a liquid retina display, which is backlit by about 70 LEDs. This m1 iPad Pro has over 10 000 mini LEDs, and this allows apple to control the individual screen zones in much efficient manner result you get deeper blacks and brighter color shades.

The screen really looks amazing in person. I'm sorry that the camera cannot pick it up, but it truly looks stunning. Now, if you compare with the iPad Pro and the iPad Air, I do see the difference. Colors are no doubt richer, but see apple always does amazing things with its displays and the iPad Air 4 or even the older iPad pros displays, are not bad either. So, unless you're someone who takes color accuracy as at most priority or work on movies or plan, to use this iPad for reviewing video content, this feature shouldn't be the sole reason for you to base your decision on purchasing which size of iPad Pro you need.

You should definitely consider other aspects like the screen size and the weight, and if you require that kind of power or not and then base your decision on that, so that's the Dr liquid retina mini LED display on the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro. You only get it on the bigger one. The smaller one gets the standard display. Also, the website lists the peak brightness as 1600 nits, but mind you guys. That's only for HDR content, the general brightness typical is 600 nits same as last year's model, so that's all for the video guys, there's more stuff coming, especially the comparison videos with iPad Air, 4 and last year's iPad Pro.

So please stay tuned guys and I also have an amazing accessory, video which will be up soon. Here's a small sneak peek of this amazing case which I'm using it looks absolutely stunning, and I'll make a dedicated video about all the cases and accessories which I have for both the 12.9 inch and 11 inch size, m1 iPad pros, so even that is coming soon. So please be subscribed support my channel turn on the notifications and I will try not to disappoint you and, as always, thanks a lot if you stayed until the end, I will see you in my next video bye for now.
