LG G8 ThinQ vs Samsung Galaxy S10+: the battle of Android's bigs

If you're, looking for a top-notch Android phone, the Samsung Galaxy series and LG G family of phones are among your best options, but which of these two should you choose, and what are the real differences? Hello, guys Vic rest of with follow arena here, and it's time to compare the galaxy s, 10, plus against LG's new g8 right off the bat? Let's say that these are pretty similar when it comes to actual firepower. You have the Snapdragon 805 v chips on both of them. You have 128 gigs of storage, onboard double that of last year's models, and the only slight difference is that the g8 has six gigs of RAM. While the galaxy comes with eight gigabytes of RAM, but that's about it. Both phones keep useful options like the 2.5, no headphone jack and the micros card expansion slot. So that's nice.

Now, where differences do show more, is in the looks. The galaxy SM+ really nailed it with an extremely refined design. This year, the phone is curved just slightly around the edges, so it's comfortable to hold it's extremely thin and the sighs feels reasonable, even with a case on it, and it's got almost non-existent bezels around the screen. Now the OG g8, on the other hand, well, it looks a bit dated, honestly. The bezels on the side are much bigger.

You have a prominent notch and the phone is slightly thicker. Now there is a reason for the notch. On the g8, however, a brand new time-of-flight depth camera, which is at the heart of many of the cool things that this phone can do. First and foremost, it allows the g8 to do face recognition the right way, with an accurate, detailed map of your face that you can not easily fool with the photograph. This shooter also brings your portrait selfies to the next level, with a very accurate separation between you and the background, and it has other features too.

The one that you have probably already heard most about is that it can read your veins, so you can hover your palm above the phone to unlock it with your unique pattern of veins. It takes both of your hands to unlock the phones and hold it with one hand. You unlock it to the other, and it doesn't always work. Well, thankfully, you do have a very reliable and faster brain scanner on the back of the phone as well. Now the galaxy, on the other hand, features a fingerprint scanner embedded in the screen, it's of the new ultrasonic kind and well, it's not quite as fast as a traditional fingerprint scanner.

It's in a much more convenient position on the front, and it works pretty well now, speaking of screens, both are AMOLED displays, but the g8 has a brand-new crystal sound technology. That basically means that the speaker on this phone is behind the screen and vibrates the screen to produce sound. It is a bit like bone conduction technology and has a lot of LG to get rid of the traditional earpiece and the loudspeaker on this phone. Now, what about the actual experience of using these phones, while both were an Android 9 by the custom interfaces on top of that are quite different? Sensors new one UI is a welcome exercise in restraint as it strips off unneeded options and optimizes. The experience for one-handed use, for example, swipe down twice and the screen brightness slider is now at the bottom right where your finger is, and you don't need to stretch all the way to the top LG, on the other hand, has introduced a ton of new features that remind us of the past.

The new air motion gesture controls. We had something like this back in the day with Touch ID. These allow you to hover your hand above the screen to do things like control, media, playback, adjust volume or take a screen, shot, they'll sure look good as a proof of concept, but in reality they seem very fiddly and some work in apps, but not in all apps and, after all, would realistically bother with these complex air gestures to control the volume when you can just press the bottom buttons. Now. Turning to the cameras, you have a triple camera system on the galaxy with the regular tell and ultra-wide shooters.

While on the g8, you only get two rear cameras, a mean one and the note four white ones. There is a triple camera g8 model as well, but that one will likely come to only a few markets like Korea. It's cool that this year, LG has managed to get rid of the camera bump and the rear cameras are now completely flush with the back of the phone, while the Samsung still has a noticeable camera bump. There were a features, there's a new night mode on the g8, and we are curious to do a shootout between the galaxy and the LG, but so far it's too early to tell which one has the better cameras. On the battery front.

You have a 3500 William or a juicer on the g8 and a substantially bigger 40 100 million power battery on the galaxy s.10, plus both phones support wireless charging, as you'd expect, and the galaxy has a reverse charging option as well. That allows you to charge up your compatible wireless headphones. For example- and this runs up for a quick first look comparison between the new LG g8 and the Galaxy S 10, plus the S 10 series goes on sale in early March, as you can already pre-order. While the g8 is coming sometime in the next few weeks. We also expect the LG to cost less than the Galaxy so which of these two.
