iPhone SE vs TCL 10L: Budget Battle, iPhone vs Android! By Jeff Springer

What's up YouTube Jeff back again and today, I'm here with a comparison between two phones that I recently unboxed on my channel that are both sort of budget phones in their own operating system, sort of ecosystem, the iPhone se2 and the TCL 10 l. Now the iPhone is a little more expensive. This is a 399 dollar phone. TCL 10l comes in at 250. , so they are, you know, but they're they're kind of around that budget pricing for iPhone versus android, because, obviously on iPhone you're not going to find a phone at 250. So I want to compare these talk about some things that I think are beneficial and why you know, for me at least I think the TCL might be the way to go.

Obviously I like android, but there's some other things as well, that I wanna, but I wanna talk about the positives of both phones. Obviously the first thing: you'll notice about them. Aside from the price they're, both you know, price really well, is the size. Obviously, the TCL 10l has 6.3-inch screen a little larger. Actually, I think 6.38, whereas obviously the iPhone SE gets completely dwarfed by the TCL foam. Now that kind of continues a little when you actually go into the screens as well.

In my personal opinion, you know if you just look at the two displays. I think the TCL 10 looks much better. Um people have talked about this many times the iPhone SE doesn't really have a super high resolution panel. Obviously, if you're someone who likes a larger screen, the tcl10l is going to be better for you, in that particular instance as well, so just based on the screen quality um. In my personal opinion, I think the tcl10l gets a win there.

Now, of course, size is very subjective. You know you might be someone who really likes a small phone, so you know the fact that the tcl10 gives you a bigger screen and kind of eclipses the iPhone SE. That might not really matter too much to you at the end of the day. Design is another consideration from the back. They both look fairly modern.

I would give marks to the TCL 10l for having you know. Multi cameras on the back just is a little more modern feature that doesn't mean the camera is better because I'll talk about that in a bit the camera on the iPhone SE- and my preliminary testing is quite a bit better um, and we'll talk about. You know why, but does have the multiple different cameras to get some different viewing angles, and things like that. So in terms of design um, looking like a modern smartphone, if you care about that, you obviously have sort of the fewer bezels on the TCL 10l. It does have a big shin down there at the bottom, but on this one you've got not only you know.

Chin you've also got the top there huge chunky, bezels, just like an iPhone 7 or an iPhone 8. You know that's kind of an old-timey setup. So if you're not someone who's into that kind of look, then it might be a downer for you now, of course, the next thing is performance. Now so far I've been playing with both of these. For a couple of days, the TCL 10 l performs pretty well, it's got the snapdragon 675 inside there, which is a very nice processor.

It's a mid-range processor, though the iPhone SE just kind of blows it away when it comes to playing games or even when you're just kind of switching in and out of apps. There is a little of lag when it comes to the TCL 10 l, I will say that games sort of play a little better um. So you know you expect that, because you've got the flagship chip inside the iPhone SE inside this small body, you've got the flagship chip that powers all of apple's more expensive smartphones. You don't have the top of the line.800 series chip in the TCL 10 apps now does the tcl10 have a ton of lag for an android phone? Absolutely, not it's been pretty smooth. It's got close to stock experience, so not any huge issues but performance.

It's definitely a win for the iPhone SE at the end of the day. Um next thing speakers, so both of these have kind of a bottom firing speaker set up primary there on the bottom. As you guys can see uh. Neither one of them have particularly amazing speakers. I guess I would give the overall edge here to the tcl10l they're a little louder and also maybe a little clearer at the louder volumes.

So that's kind of something to think about. I don't do a lot of listening to music out of phone speakers, so it's not something that really, you know, makes a big difference to me um. What does make a difference to me is actually viewing media because I do like to watch YouTube videos and things like that? Obviously, the iPhone SC is going to give you that old ski school viewing experience like on an iPhone, 7 or 8. I'm not a huge fan of that. I prefer to have the larger screen.

Obviously watching a video on this in landscape is going to be nicer than watching a video on this in landscape. So you know that's just something to keep in mind. Video is going to look a lot nicer on the 10l and I did enjoy watching video on that when I'm testing it a little more than the iPhone SC, so audio quality is kind of a tie. Definitely watching video, more enjoyable experience on the TCL 10 l, the camera. I kind of already talked about this.

The TCL 10 l has a bit of an advantage when it comes to the number of cameras, but definitely not when it comes to the quality. I'm going to do a full review of both phones and have full camera samples, but just in some preliminary testing some things. I've posted on Twitter and Instagram the iPhone SE is definitely the clear winner when it comes to camera quality. Furthermore, I guess you would expect that because they're using some of the sensors that were in some older apple flagships and also apple, has gotten pretty good at image: processing TCL, while they're a great company. This is still one of their early attempts at making.

You know a smartphone, especially in this sort of price point. You know with their own branding and everything. So I'm sure the camera will get better over time. Uh battery life, that's a big one for everybody. Of course, looking at the size of the phones which I talked about earlier, how much bigger the TCL phone is? You're going to expect it to have much better battery life because of the actual size, and it does the iPhone.

Se does not really last me a full day, not even close to a full day. Maybe I could get three and a half to four hour screen on time and that's actually on Wi-Fi, because right now, I'm kind of locked inside my house just hanging out um tcl10l, maybe get like seven hours screen on time only on Wi-Fi. So of course that's going to extrapolate out to when you're, using a LTE and things like that. So, of course, at the end of the day, it comes down to whether or not you really you know like a big phone or a small phone or if you like, IRS versus android, but I think there's a lot of pros and cons to both of these phones. I think the TCL 10l probably won in more of the categories that I talked about: uh display battery life, viewing experience for video, the modern look of the phone, but two things that are really important: the iPhone SE wins on, which is performance and also on the camera.

So if you like a small phone, you want that really snappy performance. You need a great camera, go with that iPhone if you're interested in apple. If you need a big screen, you want a phone that still doesn't have that much lag pretty close to stock android experience. The camera is still decent. It's not the best you're going to find on android, but it's decent camera big screen, modern, looking smartphone tcl10l.
