iPhone SE (2020) - Three Months Later

Hi everyone Aaron here for Zollotech and the 2020 iPhone SE or the iPhone SE 2 has been out for over three months now or 90 days or so, and this particular phone is one of the best phones. Apple has come out with in a long time, if you're looking for something that's fairly inexpensive in the iPhone world, and so this particular phone, I used it for an entire week as my main phone, I normally use an iPhone 11 Pro max, but the iPhone 11 Pro max may either be too big for some people or just too expensive, and that's usually the case when someone's looking for an iPhone SE. So this phone ranges from 399 to 549, and you can get 64 128 or 256 gigabytes. This is the 128 gigabyte model, so this is more than enough storage for most people and after using it for a few months. I find that honestly, if apple offered that size in the more expensive phones- that's probably what I would get storage wise does not seem to be an issue for me, and you'll, see I'm only using 48 gigabytes or so of my 128 gigabytes of storage, so that it's more than enough for most people, and you have this option of 64 if that's too much for you, but you can't upgrade it later on now. This particular design is great for a lot of people that don't want face ID or just want to stick with touch ID, so maybe you're coming from an iPhone 6 such as this one or maybe even an iPhone 7.

You can move over to an iPhone SE, keep the same form factor but then move over your cases as well, because they're the same dimension. So if you have a bunch of cases for the iPhone 7 or 8 you'll be able to use them on the iPhone SE they're very similar in size and everything else, and so that part's great. So maybe you have 20 different cases. Maybe you bought some from apple, some off Amazon, or maybe you have just one- you could just move it over and again the design is classic, and it's great and just like the first iPhone SC, they brought back the iPhone 5 and 5s design. They've brought back the iPhone 6 design and then just modernized it with the latest features, and so this particular phone not only has your regular sim card here in the side, but also has an e sim, so you can use it with dual sim.

If you have that option in your country- or maybe you just want different carriers, or maybe you're traveling through different areas, they have different carriers. You can switch that way, so that parts great. So I know this phone based off its price and size is great for a lot of people and after using it for a few months. This is actually my go-to phone as a backup. So I have my 11 pro max, but the great thing about this is: it's compact size.

It's easy to throw in a bag. It's easy to carry around, and it's super light now after using this. For a few months it's held up really. Well, I don't have any scratches on it or anything that I can tell under bright light, and this just gets tossed into a backpack so that I can use it. Of course, it's in a pocket, that's protected, but it's held up.

Well, I don't have any scratches or dents on it anywhere, and so it seems to be pretty durable. Also, this has ip67 certification. So that means in this case that it can handle about a meter of water for up to 30 minutes or so now, keep in mind that apple does not warrant products that actually have been water damaged without Apple Care, and even if you do have Apple Care, you may have to pay a deductible. In fact, if you get water into the ports, and they notice that- and you have a problem and your phone doesn't respond well, you'll still be responsible for paying that deductible. So keep in mind, that's not waterproof! If you want to take it into a pool or something, I would highly recommend putting it into a waterproof case, for example, and I'm speaking from experience here, I've dropped a phone into water.

It got damaged apple made me pay the deductible to get it replaced. So just keep that in mind. Now its display may be a downside for some people, because it's an LCD, but for me, that's actually an upside because it doesn't have PWM. The display is never flickering to control brightness, so whether you're going super bright or super dim, it's not going to flicker at all, because these CDs don't do that. So in order to control brightness on, say an 11 pro max, for example, it has to flicker that display and that can cause a lot of people headaches if you're sensitive to light, and it's about 1 in 10 people have that, so there's no PWM, it doesn't flicker the display, but you do get p3 wide color, and it's a 4.7 inch 1334 by 750 pixels, with 326 pixels per inch. So, yes, it is a little smaller, but if you're going into something say, YouTube video, and maybe you're- trying to figure out what particular phone to choose- and you happen to go to one of my videos- you'll see that you can play it in widescreen, which it won't fit the screen, because it's sort of optimized for the newer phones, but you do have up to 1080p.

Now I wouldn't expect 4k, because the resolution isn't 4k, so it will scale to whatever resolution you select, but that will scale to the display. So you'll have that option, and the speakers are nice and loud as well, and so the speakers are nice and loud. They've got a nice wide, stereo sound and the display is great. As far as CDs are concerned, it's got great viewing angles, and it's what you expect from any iPhone as far as that goes well as far as speed. This has the a13 bionic CPU, with three gigabytes of ram.

That means you're going to get the same performance out of the CPU as the latest much more expensive, 11 pro and 11 pro max, but you've got three gigabytes of ram to do whatever you need, and that seems to be enough for this particular phone. You can play games nice and fast you'll see I had Minecraft open, so we'll wait for it to load. It only takes a second to resume, and we're back in, so it works. Great you've got great frame rates, so if you are playing Minecraft or PUBG or Fortnite or any of those expect great frame rates, no issue there, and also you should have longevity with this because of that chipset you're, going to get the same updates, basically that the 11 pro does for years to come. So that means iOS, 14, 15 16, usually about five years of support.

Now, of course, it can play games like I've shown, but everything else is just superfast and buttery smooth, and I think that's because you have a lower resolution, but that superfast CPU that's also pushing a lot more pixels in an 11 pro, for example, or an 11 pro max so on an iPhone SE with far fewer pixels. The experience is just buttery smooth all the time, no matter what you're doing so, it doesn't really matter what you're in what you're doing in the camera included. The camera can actually do 4k 60 video, so it's got a really decent 12 megapixel camera with an f 1.8 aperture, but does 4k 60 video and in fact I recorded my entire iPhone SE review a couple of months ago with an iPhone SE. So that should give you an idea of what it's capable of, but I wanted to show you a few more pictures just so you can see what it's capable of as well is a photo camera. So low light is pretty good.

It's not as good as say the latest cameras with all the different modes, but this particular phone is better than almost anything out there other than say, maybe an iPhone 11 that has a few extra features, but 4k 60 a lot of less expensive android phones can't do that. So it's pretty impressive to see it kind of record this without breaking a sweat. Now, let's take a look at some photos, I've taken with this camera and let me know what you think about them in the comments below now. As far as battery life, that's one of the disadvantages of this phone, given its smaller size, it has a smaller battery in it and that smaller battery lasts about five and a half to six hours. As far as screen on time is concerned, for most people, when this was my main phone that seemed to be about the average I was getting with 100 battery health.

So as long as you have a maximum capacity of battery health, no issues there five and a half to six hours now what I did do, because I'm not using this full time right now is I reached out to a bunch of you on discord, telegram and twitter, and all of you said that you were getting about five and a half hours to six hours of screed on time. In fact, here's a screenshot from saga of tech works, so he's another channel. If you haven't checked him out, be sure to check him out in the description. Also, Omar and Matt sent me their screen on times as well, so you'll see about five and five and a half to six hours if you're not charging it throughout the day. Of course, if you plug it in maybe you're in a car, and you're plugging it in, of course, you're going to get more than that, because you're going to be bumping that battery back up a little more now as far as everything else, this is a highly recommended phone.

I think it will hold up really well for years to come, and the only thing I might be curious about waiting for is that new iPhone 12 5.4 inch if you're looking for a smaller phone expect this. This is a prototype or a unit. That's used to make cases for, but it's got this squared off edge on the side. So if that's something that interests you, you may want to wait for that, and we don't know the price of it yet, so the price may be much more than what we have with the iPhone SE, or it could be the same and Apple could get rid of the iPhone SE. I highly doubt that's likely, but you never know what apple's going to do, but keep in mind that the iPhone SE is affordable, you'll be able to get it at discounts in many places where it's available, and if you don't, it's still pretty reasonable as well other than that, though, I highly recommend this phone, especially at its price.

Anyone looking for a budget phone that wants a smaller iPhone. You only do have three colors. You have this product red. Furthermore, you have white and black, so you only have those three colors but other than that. Most people put skins on them or put cases on them.

So I would keep that in mind. No problems there and one other thing. Are you don't get 3d touch you get haptic touch, you get all the features of 3d touch, but it's the same sort of thing that you get with the 11 pro and the 11 pro max. There's no pressure sensitive layer, you just press and hold, but that doesn't really matter because it seems like Apple's done away with that with all their new products. But if you have anything else to say about this particular device, let me know in the comments below and if you'd like, to get your hands on this wallpaper, of course, I'll link it in the description like I normally do.
