iPhone SE 2020 6 Months Later!

So, the iPhone SE 2020 launched back in April 2020, so it's been about six months, and I'm ready to give you my six months later experience with the iPhone SE. The question I want answered here is: has it been enough to justify its price point? What is up guys nick here helping you to master your technology? The iPhone SE comes in right, around 349 bucks and goes up from there to get the 128 gigabyte model. It starts at 64. Now, a quick key spec refresh if you forgot about them 4.7 inch 750 by 1334 display, so the display on the SE is not even 1080 13 megapixel single camera on the back capable of the 4k video recording three gigs of ram Apple A13, bionic chipset, and a rather small 18 21 William hour battery stuffed in the back of the iPhone. Se also supports wireless charging, which is nice, hey guys. So when talking about the thickness of the phone, that's one of the things I want to talk about this phone is super thin, the iPhone SC at 7.3 millimeters. This thing is ultra-thin and because of the curved edges and the glass back, it's kind of slippery, honestly.

I always felt like I had to put this product red case for a map I'll leave a link down below. If you want to pick this one up, but I feel like I always had to have this on, because this phone just feels like it's going to slip out of my hand, I will say that about its thickness, most iPhones are a lot thicker now like the iPhone 11, the iPhone 11 Pro stuff, like that. Now discussing my experience with the weight of this phone, so the iPhone SC comes in at a very small weight.148 grams. I mean this thing feels like a feather in your hand, if you just want a spare iPhone on the side, and you got the money to pick one up, you might like this as a backup iPhone for those days when you want to travel light. Six months later, I've been enjoying that weight.

A lot of the newer iPhones are just a lot heavier, but it doesn't compromise on its overall feel in the build it does have an aluminum body which is very similar to what apple's doing with like the Apple Watch. You can see the product red Apple Watch right here when you, when you talk about the base level Apple Watch, it's giving you an aluminum shell, and it seems like apple's starting to divide their cheaper products from the aluminum to the stainless steel. So if you buy a stainless steel Apple Watch, it's going to cost you more same with an iPhone. If you buy an aluminum iPhone it'll cost you less than. If you buy a stainless steel, it doesn't feel like a cheap phone whatsoever.

It does have a nice sleek apple build and the glass back helps with that premium fill as well so discussing the display on the iPhone SE. I mean this phone can get plenty bright, we're talking, 625, nits and yeah you're, not gonna, get the most high-en doled saturated color display. Here we punch in a little here. You'll see looks a little washed out compared to something like an OLED panel. It still gets plenty bright and a lot brighter than a lot of the competitors.

In addition, if you punch in you still have true tone dark mode night shift, you still have all those features as if this was a premium, top-tier iPhone and, of course, there's no 3d touch anymore, which is kind of disappointing. I used to really like that tech, but now it's just kind of a haptic press a little slower, but still does that premium feel, so it's kind of got that yesteryear premium feel not 2020 premium feel but kind of like who was really complaining much about their iPhone, 8, 8 plus display. Not many people were really upset with those displays they really kind of liked them in the phone. So, overall I would say that when watching video you have the 16 by nine panel. Here you go ahead and press play.

You do have a 16 by 9 panel, so you do have bezel something to hold on to while watching video. In addition, if you are, you know playing a game, you have something to hold on to um overall, though, if you're watching videos that were not formatted for 16x9, which a lot of them aren't anymore, but a lot of them are still, you might get black bars depending on how it was formatted, but at the same time I have to say the display does feel a little dated six months later. I still can't look at this and say it's better than a lot of the competition. It just isn't um, but it is a nice bright display. I do like how bright it does get now on the topic of the smooth feel, though 60 hertz.

This is not 120 hertz, yes, the 120 hertz android phones are smoother when scrolling through these pages, but iOS again, I'm going to say it again. I said it before for a 60hz phone, it's one of the smoothest 60hz experiences you're going to get thing. That is really nice, though, about this hey. This is the iPhone it's so easy to text on this phone, because the keyboard is very accurate, even though it's a smaller keyboard, but because the screen is so small, it's easy to one hand type on this phone, that's one of the joys of using the iPhone SE. This is the iPhone SE, especially one-handed.

So this thing right here with the swipe text. You know even better than before, really feeling this keyboard for texting. However, when it comes to landscape typing, because it's small, your thumbs might bump into each other, so landscape typing, not my favorite web browsing on a 4.7 inch display because it's 16 by 9 is actually acceptable. The reason why it's acceptable is that you know it's kind of a wide screen. It's not.

It is small, but it has a nice width to it. Furthermore, it's not super narrow. So, even though it's only 4.7 inches, it's pretty comfortable to browse on here yeah, it is small compared to a larger phone and, if you're doing most of your tasks on an iPhone. This is not the one for you, you're, going to want a bigger one. Still, I think most people will be fine with this and because in safari you can use reader mode.

It makes it really easy to read, I'm basically any iPhone. So basically, I'm pretty happy with the overall browsing experience on this device and if it's still too small, you can go into display settings and go to the zoom settings, hit the zoom mode, and it will just make the whole display scale up a little. Larger icons will look huge, so overall I mean you can find ways around that smaller display. If you still want to get this price point of the SE, so switching gears to iOS 14. So you can see the app library right here, really changing up the game and how the iPhone works.

Does it work any different on the smaller iPhone yeah? Well, the plus sign is in the right instead of the left on the newer iPhones um. Some things are a little different, but for the most part I have to say that it's nice to have widgets on a smaller screen. It just feels like you're, getting a more productive experience. Out of this 4.7 inch display versus the bigger iPhones, which you just kind of expect if it's just kind of neat to have widgets on such a small device like this. So I do like 14 a lot for this smaller iPhone here and the ability to just change.

The video control settings in here as well is also very neat that came with the SE from the start, but it also gets that similar feature like the new iPhones, where you can kind of adjust the exposure right here. So really, I'm feeling this overall iOS 14 for are we going to settings you'll, also notice, there's more privacy features in 14. This is not a 14 review, but on the whole, yes you're getting most of that modern feel of 14 on the SC. You don't have the gestures, it's a little older operation, but the SES iOS 14 is pretty neat just because you can pull widgets. In my opinion, on a smaller display.

Six months later, I'm really feeling the iOS 14. A ton of speed tests on this phone, and it's certifiably a boss in performance. I've taken this phone out and done video uh with this device. You can edit right on this phone, and it's super slick. The a13 bionic chokes to no app also one thing about the SC is that it does have three gigs of ram.

So I do have to be quite honest with you here. Sometimes if you're going through multiple apps at a time you pop one open, it's not going to do it on camera. It always shows me up, but if you pop between these applications, you might get a reload here and there, because it just doesn't have a lot of ram and storage. Six months later, I'm gonna talk about this one 128 gigs. This is the sweet spot for me.

Yes, it's a hundred dollars more. You should go with it, though, because if you're going to keep this SC a long time, the 128 gigs will come in great handy, but if you're just buying this for a basic tasking and just using it as a backup phone 64 gigs will be fine, and I'm moving on to the camera. One thing: that's a joy to use about this 12 megapixel eyesight camera, for this SC is just its simplicity. It's minimalism! It's one, camera, there's not much to think about you, pull it out. You set up, you put it in the aspect ratio you want.

You set your exposure and you fire away. Furthermore, you don't have to think about it. Furthermore, you can also hold down for the video just like the iPhone 11 again, if you're, not a wide angle person you're, not a person who really uses zoom that much, and you're fine, just digital zooming. Furthermore, you just take pictures here and there's nothing wrong with this camera. As a matter of fact, it's a very good camera, it's better than most of those iPad cameras, and it pretty much matches up with the iPhone 11 single camera in most respects and good lighting.

Where it falls short, is you don't have night good night performance on this phone? That's where it really falls short, and, of course you know the iPhone 11 Pro has a better front-facing camera, substantially better front-facing camera. This one can only do HD 30, which is pretty weak.1080 30 is really a cheap. You know thing apple did here, they could have done at least 1080 60 on the front. So the front camera really a sacrifice there, but I still think most people are going to be very happy with the cameras for the price of the iPhone SE. Six months later, I'm happy, but I honestly, if I'm going out taking photos, I just can't pick this one up anymore, because so many budget phones even have a wide angle.

So it'd be nice to see on this next SC to just implement one more camera. Even if it's a cheaper wide-angle apple, I think it would be nice, but the best thing is the video I don't think you're going to find another camera, though that's going to beat this iPhone SC at this price point in video. It has the best video at this price point. It could be a great practice phone if you're just getting into video, and you don't want to pay for a top-tier device. Furthermore, it can give you some great content right out of that single camera up to 4k 60 you're, going to be very happy stereo speakers, so you're not being left behind there.

Clearly, the bottom speaker is much louder, but you're not being left behind in audio it's not better than the 11 pro, of course not, but it's still acceptable. So audio, not a big problem here I have had no drop calls on this phone surprisingly, and I've held down pretty good signal strength. Pretty much where I went, so Apple is getting better here. Uh still we're not having 5g performance, and still I haven't, had the absolute best 4g LTE performance in comparison to some of my other devices. This one has been acceptable for the money.

I have not had many issues with its overall internet connectivity and stuff like that, and discussing touch I'd second generation touch ID now. This has been a blessing and a curse, a blessing in that when you're out and about in these stores, it's easy to just pop this thing open. At the same time to me, it feels a little slower, a little less refined than face ID. So when it comes to applications, I don't personally like pressing touch ID more, and I just like looking at the phone, so it kind of feels like a step back but a blessing right now, but I still like face ID a bit more. I think it's more secure and also a little more pleasant to use, but touch ID is old, reliable, it's old, faithful! It just works.

Talking about the battery life with the SC 1821 William hour battery fast charging wireless charging available, it doesn't get any really better battery life than a good working iPhone 7 iPhone 8. So if you remember those phones, they get through most of the day, but you got to top up sometime in the middle, sometimes late middle of the day like around 7 pm. So this one for me is not a full day phone, if you're a heavy user, if you're a light user easily a full day home phone, if you're a medium user, you might make it as well, but if you're heavy using this phone no way, it also comes with a 5 watt charger in the box, which is pretty weak, and the last thing I want to talk about is the color. I love that apple brought this thing out in product red. I think it's a great price point for getting a beautiful red phone.

You can also get this in white and black as well. So if you don't like this color you're good to go there, you want something more clean. You might want the white. You want something more stealthy, you might want the black color, but overall, I think it's a good three color options for most. In conclusion, six months later, overall, I really like this phone for the price I think most people buying.

These is going to be happy users if they're not stacking it up. Next to a more premium iPhone. I mean you have to, weigh your expectations. You have to know what you're getting into here. I think, if you're, the type of person who's really looking for the most features you can get for the money, I think there are better options out there, but I think if you want apple at a low price point, you can't go wrong with the SE but realize that this design is not going to be around for much longer anyway.

If you guys found this video helpful entertaining informing. Do me a favor click that like button for me- and let me know your experience six months later, if you were one of the first buyers of this phone down below in the comments.
