iPhone SE 2020 1 Year Later!

So, what is up guys nick here, helping you to master your technology iPhone SE, one year later, we're talking about the 2020 edition. This one was announced one year ago tomorrow, so in just one day, this thing will be announced one year ago, so it's been yeah. It's going that fast, but 3.99 for the iPhone SC, the classic, iPhone 8. Look in this episode, I'm going to share with you my one-year later experience and help you decide by the end of this video. Was it worth it? Is it still worth it? That's the name of this one. Let's talk about the body, the design, the build of this one, so you can see that there's no iPhone logo on this.

So right away. This was a cleaner, looking iPhone 8 right from the start, so we do have basically a recycled iPhone 8 here, and what that led to this feeling like is a kind of just an upgrade to that. You know we were kind of expecting an iPhone mini, like version of the SC upgrade kind of giving us that four inch design, but we got instead was this iPhone 8 update. So you do have an iPhone 8 looking phone here in the iPhone SE down to the touch ID down to the same 4.7 inch down the same 4.7 inch display on here, so definitely the design over a year. You know it's clean, it's minimal, but it just it feels like classic old iPhone.

So there's nothing too special about it. It doesn't feel like anything over the top, but one thing it does do very well is: it seems more premium than a lot of phones in this price range. Now there are some android manufacturers that are catching up here, but you know for this price range. A lot of phones are going to give you plastic, builds plastic bodies, they're just going to feel cheap this one. While it is a little older looking it doesn't feel cheap, and it feels about the same quality as something like the iPhone 11.

For example, just a little thinner, actually a lot thinner, the iPhone 11 just a thicker foam, but it's got that same feel and apple, I think, did a good job with the colors. They gave you white black and red, so three pretty neutral good colors there, the red's a little out there, but a lot of people do like red and there's no like a ton more than that, though so just three colors. But I would say this white looks pretty simple and clean as well, and one thing that was really exceptional about this phone is the weight it's a very lightweight phone, so it doesn't weigh much at all if you like, lighter phones, you're gonna, like this one. So one year later in terms of the display. Well, it just feels like a four years later in terms of display, because it's using basically the iPhone 8 display it's the same 16 by 9 the same retina.

You can see true tone down there. Dark mode night shift same features. You get another phone same 625 units of brightness. Now that brightness is better than a lot of usable brightness on other android devices that compete with this, and you might like the color accuracy of the way apple tuned. This display, if you've come from an android device depending on your taste and display color and saturation.

If we go into the YouTube you'll see you'll, be able to see videos with thicker bezels here on the edges. They do give you something to hold on to, but this display does pretty much play all most content, because a lot of content is still shot in 16x9, because that's the way most cameras are shooting videos, so you'll be able to see a lot of full videos. No black bars on here. That's actually a pretty good experience and then, if we go over here into you know, reading something you do have 326 PPI and on display this small, I would say you probably are not even going to notice that you don't have the highest res screen. You probably won't even care, and I don't know how much you're going to be reading on here.

You might take it to the iPad. Furthermore, you might take it to your laptop, but if this is your only device, you do have at least a pretty nice wider display, because it's not skinny, because it's a 16x9. In addition, it's sharp enough. It does the job. That's basically what I could say about the display.

It just does the job pretty? Well, it's a standard, iPhone panel, it's nothing too extraordinary. So a year later, I just feel the same. I didn't when I have first seen this it's just another iPhone display. I would bet one of the main reasons. Most people even bought.

This phone was the software they knew they can get this iPhone at 3.99, and they're going to have software support for a very long time. You can see, 14.4.2 is on board here with 14.5 coming very shortly, maybe even next week it should be coming, and you can see right here, similar software you're, getting on the iPhone 12 12 pro things like that. So yeah, one of the main reasons to even get this phone now is that you have the same iOS software that you'll be able to experience on others. You know iPhones and that's a great thing because usually you'll have to pay more to experience. This slick, smooth and very supported software now touch ID is a kind of tricky one.

I really like it here, but there's something I don't like about it. I don't like that. It feels old. I want to see like apple, do something new like put like, maybe a touch ID in display or maybe integrate in the power button, just something a little different, because this just feels, like you know the original iPhone. Basically, it's not a bad thing.

It works pretty much every time, and it's actually more useful than face ID when out and about right now, but you can see you know very reliable it. Just kind of has that older, iPhone 7 feel discussing the performance of this phone. Another area where I think that it's one of the main reasons that many picked this phone up at 399 you're getting an Apple A13 bionic. You would have to pay much more than that to get the Apple A13 bionic in the past, and this phone right here definitely gives you kind of like a turbocharged iPhone 8 right here with that a13 bionic, giving it not the most ram at three gigs, but because that processor benchmarks so high. I would say that the length of time that you will have this phone, you shouldn't struggle much in performance and maybe not at all, and when you do things like video, editing and gaming, while it doesn't have the best battery life, it should be able to handle these games without sweating, really do like the performance.

It's one of the reasons why I could even still use this phone from time to time and not really miss using my 12 pro max or anything like that, because it just it's just very snappy and fast every single day. Now, with the storage, I'm actually not too upset 64 gigabytes starting space for a phone like this is actually pretty good. You know back in the day, Apple would start their phones at 16 gigabytes, and they went up to 32, which still wasn't enough starting at 64. You get a 128 as well. Definitely a very good starting storage for this price point.

So I have no qualms or problems here with the iPhone SE when it comes to the storage, okay, so the iPhone SE is main camera. A 12 megapixel lens right there capable of the 4k 60 quads led flash. How does this camera do? What is my thoughts over it a year of usage? Well, I think this is kind of apple's basic, simple, just good, reliable, performing iPhone camera great video quality. You do need good lighting because it doesn't have a dedicated night mode. You'll see it doesn't pop up anything like that again, classic iPhone.

Take the photo. It's going to turn out pretty good. Every time go to video hit the video record button. It's going to come out perfect, basically, every time the camera reminds me. A lot of the iPhone 10 are just a simple lens.

You have pretty good results and with the software algorithms and things like that, it does produce results that you wouldn't expect you're going to get out of this definitely beating out the iPhone 8. I would say it's actually pretty close to the main camera on the iPhone 11, but I would say I'm just pretty happy with that simple camera. However, this is not the phone to buy. If you want to have fun, you want to go wide angle, like with the iPhone 11 or 12, or even like some of those android phones with four cameras. It's not going to be the funnest camera.

It's just you know a basic, simple shooter that just does the job very reliably and on the front apple, didn't make cuts on the front here or can only do 1080, 30 videos. So don't expect to get this and get pro professional results where you're gonna. So don't expect to get this on the front, camera and think. Oh, I'm going to do 4k 60 on the front and on the rear, and it's going to be so beautiful video now you're going to want to rely on this main camera on the rear. If you want to do the best work you can do out of this phone.

However, for what it's worth that front-facing camera is 7 megapixels and I think it does do a decent job with its software processing and stuff. Like that, to give you a pretty acceptable result: it's not going to be horrible, but it doesn't have the widest shot either on that front-facing photo either, but it's pretty decent overall, so battery life did it get better? Now was I helping you get better yeah? Did it get better? No, it never did it's an 18 21 William hour battery and for those of you going to get in the comments say. I don't know what this guy is talking about. You know the battery life on my iPhone has been so, so just fine. I get through the day.

Well, you're, not heavy, using your, not comparing this like. I am to the iPhone 12 the iPhone 12 Pro max, and you can't see it because you're only using this device, but this phone definitely gets like double less battery life than something like the iPhone 12 series of devices, especially the max phones, and I'm only comparing that, because you know you do have options like the 10r that can give you two more hours of screen on time than this one. So I was getting around three and a half to four was like my best day. I think the best I ever got was four hours and 15 minutes screen on time. With this one, the low power mode was essential for getting through the daylight users would throw your phones in their pocket, use it a couple of times every few hours.

This will easily make it through the day any phone will, but don't expect to get heavy usage out of this without needing a charger. But it's nice that at least it has wireless QI, wireless charging on the back ear, and it can support up to 18 watts of fast charging, which is nice. Not all older iPhones could do that so very nice here for DSC and when it comes to the audio for a little phone, it's pretty mighty, but if you're coming from anything smaller, you really think this is a pretty good sizeable display so very good overall screen. I would say this one definitely has better stereo speakers than competing like budget android phones. A lot of them do skimp out on the top one.

They give you a weak wimpy speaker at the top, and they give you a loudspeaker at the bottom apple. Does this to agree as well, but this one seems a little better balanced. I think it's one of the best actually for a mainstream phone here in the iPhone 12. , so this one launched with iOS 14 so small, but I would say, pretty mighty audio. It's actually pretty good coming out of this phone, although you do sacrifice no headphone jack and you do have pretty good fast Bluetooth connections, but you're going to need your own headphones with this one.

Now phone calls and radios in here, like the radios for you, know doing reception. Things like that were actually pretty good. I didn't have any drop calls. I didn't find this to be the loudest sounding phone when making phone calls. However, I will say that it did hold on to pretty decent signal strength.

Still not the most bars I've seen I've seen Samsung phones competing with this getting more reception in more areas than this. However, the SC didn't really let me down here either. So I can't really complain about it.4G LTE is the best you're going to do here. This is not 5g. Maybe the next SC will be 5g standard, but this one is definitely 4g.

However, in a lot of areas, people are not even using 5g at this point and if they do, it's pretty slow, it's just basically like 4g, LTE plus. So definitely you know, I wouldn't say it's a horrible thing right now, but the next one needs to get 5g just because it's the future standard and the resale value on this has actually been doing pretty good. You know I've only seen it drop like 50 or so second hand, but over time I don't think it's going to be that strong in the long haul, unless it becomes one of those rare devices that everybody's trying to get their hands on, but not likely as most people want bigger iPhones these days, don't expect to get a ton of money back you're not going to pay a ton to get this to begin with. So don't expect that out of this phone. But in conclusion, is this one really worth buying anymore? Do I recommend it now and there's a couple of people who could still benefit from picking this up? Hey a person doesn't care much about the latest iPhone design and just wants a new iPhone at a cheaper price.

Yes, you could still get this and be fine. Person b would be someone on a budget and just wants iOS and their phone broke, and they just they don't get the funds to cough up right now on a higher price iPhone. So this one is going to be the one to pick up right here and see some people just don't like where iPhone headed. They like the older classic, iPhone look and this one still exists in the lineup. I think this is going to change it on a use, so you better get your hands on this one.

If you want to preserve that classic iPhone. Look for as long as you can other than that. There's a lot of downsides that make this phone a hard recommendation, for you know a lot of people, and that is, if you, like, you know modern devices. You love smartphones. You love technology, there's a lot of great phones that are cheaper than this and around the same price that are just better overall they're fun to use.

They have more modern sleek look, and you could even get you know for not much more, a more modern, looking iPhone like a 10r or an iPhone 11 for 100 or 200 dollars more. It's its a niche phone, it's for specific people one year later. Is it a good phone? Yes, is it a great phone depends? Is it a phone that will be forgotten, I think in a few years' nobody will be talking about this phone because there'll be you know something else better and greater, and I don't think it had that same level of you know classiness as the original 2016 iPhone SE that same level. I think it just didn't have that, because apple decided to bring back the iPhone 8, which wasn't a super popular phone to begin with, if they had brought that 2016 iPhone SE and put all this stuff in there with a little of a bigger display. I think that would have been a much bigger hit than this one, but I could be wrong.

Let me know your thoughts on that one down below. If you found this video helpful entertaining and forming. Do me a favor click that like button for me, if you have an iPhone SE 2020, please consider sharing your experience with the community down below. Do you recommend this?
