iPhone 8 VS iPhone SE (2020) Comparison In 2021 (Speed Test, Speakers & PUBG Graphics) By Matthews Tech

What's up guys today we're going to be discussing the iPhone 8 versus the iPhone SE and which one should you pick up. So let's go ahead and get into it here, so the iPhone 8 will cost you around 200 bucks and the SE 2020 will cost you around 300 bucks, so you're going to be paying 100 bucks more. If you decide to go with the SE here, and I will have those links down below for you guys, uh, just starting off with the hardware. So the only real way to even tell the difference between both of these devices is that the iPhone 8 has a logo up top here and the SE has a logo in the middle, but just to make the comparison more simple, I'm just going to keep them on the right side. So you can see SE purple iPhone 8 this color just so you won't get confused here, but once we go over the body of each phone they are the exact same uh, weight and dimensions and all that stuff so power button. We also have view vibration switch on both of these guys uh.

We also have our volume rockers as well as stereo speakers, and we also have you know our charging port and then on the back. Of course, we have our uh only single camera set up on here with our flash, and they're, both like I said glass and metal devices, so they feel a fairly premium in the hand as well, which is really nice um so, and they also have a perfect weight to them. They're very compact phones for 2021. So if you're, somebody who loves small phones- and you just have an issue with big phones because of the strain you have to do- or you don't want to shimmy the phone and stuff, these are two great options as well um. So both of these phones are IP rated as well ip67 rated on here, and you also have touch ID up front on both of these devices too, which works great, so uh no issue.

There zero, like, I said, zero difference as far as hardware, also with both phones. You are getting the exact same display as well you're, getting a 4.7 inch, retina IPS lcd is 720p plus 326 for the PPI and, like I said, the same exact display here same bezel same pretty much color profile as well. Overall, the display on both of these phones is fine. Um and, like I said it's geared more towards compact phone users. So um you know if you're somebody that wants to be able to reach their phone with just one hand, these are excellent choices.

They get fairly bright as well. So I don't have any issues when I was outside taking photos. I wasn't struggling to see these screens. I think for the price you pay. The screen is still fine.

Yes they're, not you know, OLED or AMOLED displays, but um, I think for most people for a budget phone. I think they're totally fine uh. The viewing experience on here is good. So it's not like they're bad quality. IPS panels, they're very good in very sharp panels as well.

So, these being so small with a high PPI like this uh, the icons and everything still looks super sharp uh. The only downside is, of course, you can't watch content in 1080p. It's really uh. You know just a 720p plus display here so yeah, but the display resolution is fine on here, an actual difference. Now so with the iPhone 8, it is running the latest version of iOS 14 uh, but you do have the Apple A11 chip on here.

No SD card support, 64 gigs of internal storage in two gigs of ram and on the iPhone SE. This is where the big upgrade is. You have the latest version of iOS, the Apple A13 uh, no SD card support, 64, gigs of internal storage and three gigs of ram. So you have slightly more ram uh, which you that have a better experience with ram management and, overall, the with the iPhone SE being newer uh. You will be able to receive iOS updates for years and years to come, where the iPhone 8 still will get updates, but it won't get nearly as many updates as the iPhone SE, because the sew ill be able to keep up because it has a more powerful chip.

So in the future five years from now, you'll probably still be getting updates on the SE. The iPhone 8 most likely, not all right. Let's get a quick speed test here. Let's go ahead and start off with YouTube, make sure everything's closed here boom. Look like the iPhone 8 actually got it there surprisingly Pok?mon Go SE iPhone 8 Snapchat.

These are almost pretty much a tie. Essentially here now I do expect yeah. That's that's another tie iPhone 8. I got it there again now. I expect games to load faster 100 on the SE.

Here yeah, it looks like the iPhone 8 just keeps on beating this thing. S e got it there, so it's kind of going back and forth, or it's like a tie here, all right. Let's go ahead and try here: let's go ahead and try pub g see which one gets into PUBG faster and also, I think, to notice here is with the SC you're going to get much better gaming performance. So that is where you're going to see that that big jump in performance is with a gaming here. So I'm just super surprised how the s the iPhone 8 has been able to keep up uh with speed.

Here I think the iOS 14 updates did a really excellent job with the phone. As you can see, we did get into pub g much faster on the SE here, all right, so to show you guys the difference in terms of the power here where the power you're going to see is on the SE. If we go to pub g, you can see smooth extreme extreme extreme, and then we can download the ultra HD package here on the iPhone 8. If you're a gamer you're just not going to get that great option, so we get it smooth extreme ultra, you know ultra, and then we have no option for ultra HD. So you're going to get a way smoother and better looking game gaming experience on the iPhone SE, so overall the SE is going to be a much better device as far as gaming, especially you know a few years from now.

If you're, you know trying to keep your iPhone, then I would definitely you know, recommend you get the SE if you're a gamer, because you'll notice that it will be able to keep up with gaming uh from a couple of years from now iPhone 8. As these games get more powerful, it might not be able to keep up, but right now the iPhone 8 is still a very good gaming device um, especially if you're just a casual gamer. So definitely you will get those smoother fps and better looking graphics, but just keep that in mind as well. That's where a lot of that power is going to both speakers. Sound identical here so start with the SC max volume.

No, they do not. The SE does sound slightly louder uh than the iPhone 8. , not, not by much, but it does sound slightly louder, but they both have pretty much the same. A sound profile, so they sound exactly the same. This one is just slightly louder um.

So that's pretty interesting, open, quite a few applications. So, let's see, if uh any of them closed out, let's just open YouTube again: okay, those are we just got out of those Instagram is still open. Spotify is still open, Snapchat's still open up the iPhone 8 closed out. Google Earth and the iPhone 8 closed out. Subway surf as well-kept Pok?mon Go open.

The iPhone 8 closed out, jetpack joyride, all right, so you see the iPhone 8 is just not going to be anywhere near as good at multitasking as the SE is going to be. So, if you're really into multitasking and close that pub g all right, if you're really into multitasking, then uh the SC is going to be the way to go. If you're more of a power user you bounce in and out of applications, so both devices have NFC for Apple Pay. Like I said, touch ID is pretty much the exact same, there's no difference in terms of speed, so I do want to talk about the cameras on here. So, surprisingly, the cameras are different.

You will notice a difference with the camera. So what's interesting about the cameras on both of these devices is that they have the same lens, but the image processing is much better on the SE, so you will get much cleaner shots on the SE. So on that device you do have a 12 megapixel standard, and it's a 4k shooter at 24, 30 or 60 fps 7 megapixels, selfie 1080p, the SC pretty much takes better shots than the iPhone in any type of situation, so, whether it's in good lighting, low lighting or whether it's just capturing more detail or handling over exposure or white balance, you are going to see an upgrade now. I just thought that was pretty cool because they have the exact same lens, like I mean down to the spec, the exact same lens, but that's just the power of that uh Apple A13 chip kicking in there and giving you some very clean image processing. So that is really awesome.

So the iPhone 8, as you can see the photos again, the same exact camera, specs, 12, megapixel, 4k, 24, 30, 60, 7, megapixel, selfie, 1080p, oh, and also a difference is with that selfie cam. Instead of the 1080p uh, you get a 4k on the iPhone SE. That is also a difference as well uh. But again, that's you have the same. It's the same camera, so I just want to point that out there how cool that is uh with the image processing.

So if you're choosing between cameras, you're getting a way cleaner, much better camera on the SC 2020 um, I just don't notice the difference between the two um, so they have the same exact specs, again: 1821 Williams, uh, 18 watt charging on the SE versus the 15 watts on the uh eight. So it's charges slightly faster, and you also have wireless charging on both, but as far as battery life uh they're both getting around. If you have good battery health on your eight you're, getting the same amount of screen at one time, so roughly around four to five hours of screen on time, depending on how hardcore you are on your phone, so yeah, these phones are not. These phones are not all day. Phones, um, you definitely going to have to charge them, but they do fine for a compact phone.

Any compact phone is going to struggle with battery life, um, so yeah. That is pretty much it guys. I think these are two awesome flagships um. What do you guys think be sure to let me know, and I'll catch you guys in the next one?.
