iPhone 7 Plus 4 Years Later

So, what is up guys nick here, helping you to master your technology iPhone 7, plus, four years later now, before you start seeing nick bro, that is the eight plus. No, this is the jet black seven plus it just has a shinier look, so it gives the impressions like it's an eight plus with the glass back, but I assure you this is the seven plus. How do we know take a look at geek bench right there, iPhone 7 plus- and I want to show you that we are on the latest- OS iOS 14.3 Apple A10, fusion, 2.34, gigahertz, three gigs of ram, so we're going to talk about in this video is: how is this phone fared? Where does it stand in 2020 so refreshing? You on the specs 5.5 inch, 1920x1080 retina display that's full HD, and this display also did give over 400 pixels per inch. So at the time it was great, as a matter of fact, that's still very sharp. Even now in 2020, this one also came with the first dual camera setup for iPhone, and that was the big deal three gigs of ram. Like we mentioned earlier, a10 fusion and this phone does house a 2 900 William hour battery.

Those are basically the key specifications, but I do want to talk about. Where does this Stan? This phone stand in terms of its durability? How durable has it been, and I could say it's held up very well. You know having the aluminum back on the back made. It not has really any potential to crack on the rear, so you do have glass on the newer iPhones, which opened up the way for wireless charging, but the iPhone 7 plus with its aluminum shell, made it rock, solid and durable. However, it's from facing glass, while it wasn't very good at scratch, resistant it would crack easily screen.

Protectors were always a must with iPhones, even back in this time. They still are to this day, as they still will crack so body ip67 design. Here you know I chose this one, because at the time I was getting tired of seeing bigger bezels. I knew that the jet black model definitely blended them a little better, but when you do go to white screens, let's take it off dark mode for a minute. When you do go to white screens, you do still see those bezels.

However, even in 2020 apple has iPads. With these similar bezels and still a touch ID apple has the iPhone SE. So just goes to show you that this doesn't look that bad, because there's still devices in the iPhone lineup that have this there's still iPads that have a similar design to this. So this really did hold up very well. This thing was only 7.3 millimeters thin, so the phone was extremely thin, and I think quite light for its size, 188 grams and talking about the display, this retinol display actually gets just as bright as the latest iPhone 12. This thing can go 625 nits, it does have a very fast 3d touch, and it does have dark mode and night shift no true tone here, but this 2016 phone did have again very sharp text, so there is no problem with this display whatsoever.

You definitely made a wise choice. If you bought the 7 or 7 plus, but specifically the 7 plus with its 1080p display, everything, looks fantastic. Video looked fantastic for this phone as well. When you were watching videos, while the bezels do not look the best, they do give you something to hold on to. While watching video, I would say now: it's just a design difference.

It just looks a little older compared to the new iPhones and having LCD and not OLED. Definitely is a step back, but having this landscape mode is very nice, although I would still have like the split screen on this phone. This display is just about as good. I think, as many of the newer iPhone displays its just that it doesn't have that same more of a closer to an edge to edge screen after all of these years. With this iPhone 7 plus, it still looks good.

I'm not really disappointed. Okay. So when it comes to software, this is running iOS 14.3. This software has new wallpapers. Just like you'll get on the know iPhone 12 Pro max.

You do have the app library, the ability to add widgets to this phone and everything running very up to date. This is incredible, and one of the reasons why you might want to consider the iPhone as your next phone, if you're going to keep it plus, I think it's going to get iOS 15 as well next year, so we'll see how that goes. But, like I said, I keep supporting these phones until they lose their support. That's why you can continue to see some videos on these older devices. The iOS 14 software running butter, smooth on my iPhone 7 plus.

I will state that it does warm up a little more than it does on some of my other devices, but uh still, you know this phone is not have the latest chip. I'm just happy to report that having these features having the ability to do basically the same stuff you can do on the newer iPhones is just really a treat it's a treat, because this phone is just aging. So what about performance I want to talk about touch I'd touch. I'd is very snappy on this phone and very useful if you held on to your iPhone 8 plus 7 plus you're, probably thinking yourself now, because with wearing these masks and things, you know you definitely can get perfect usage out of the touch ID scanner when it comes to scrolling through, because Apple has still not put a 90, hertz or even 120 hertz on their iPhones. This phone you'd be hard-pressed when scrolling through these home screens.

I see a difference between this and the newer one same thing goes with safari. It's still super smooth the pinch to zooming the scrolling. You can get basically everything done here on a 7 plus in 2020 and that's pretty impressive. It's the fact that it works and everything is just working. You know at a level that you know could probably beat out some budget android phone still.

The a10 fusion was a great 16 nanometer chips and the three gigs of ram helps this phone actually multitask a little better than the smaller iPhone 7, with its two gigs of ram, so 7 plus still performs pretty rock solid. In my opinion, does it have some crashes? Sometimes, yes does. Does it always work perfect? No, but does it work well enough for most occasions? Yes and that's pretty impressive for four years? Okay guys! So let's talk about the battery life with the iPhone 7 plus here. So it really kind of depends on your battery health, because the phone is a champ. It was the bigger iPhone it could get through the day it still can get through the day if you're having battery issues, it's likely due to your battery capacity, because it's getting low if you're in the 80s you're in the 70s, it's going to be trash, I'm telling you that right now it's going to drain faster than you would believe you might want to use low power mode.

It makes a major difference in day-to-day usage, but I would say the battery is solid for the iPhone 8 plus it was always better than the 7, and it's one of the reasons why it was my main phone for a long time. Furthermore, it's nowhere near some newer iPhones, but still it can get through a regular workday. Okay, guys. So, let's talk about these main cameras on the iPhone 7 plus. Now I did a lot of camera work with this phone back in the day when this phone was more fresh, and I'm still pretty happy with these results, I think they're pretty good they're.

No longer great, you know, they're still going to get the job done, though uh most regular usage. You can still take some very nice photos. You can get some applications to do some night mode stuff in the app store the video can go up to 4k 30, which is still high enough for most people. Furthermore, you can do 1080p 60fps as well, but you cannot change it here within the camera settings. It's not quite, as you know, professional as the newer iPhones, but you still have all the basics.

I would say this is a good camera, not a great one in 2020. Now on the front. Definitely you start to see where the iPhone 7 plus is aging. This phones kind of blows out your face a little. It still has a perfect.

You know overall tone to the skin, so Apple's been doing great at this. For a while, but when you compare this to the newer iPhones, it's just not as sharp it's a little more noisy on the front and the video quality on the front cannot come close to the newer iPhones, not that it's trying to it's 1080 30 on the front, but I would say this is one of the areas where you know you've seen major improvements but still having a 2x optical zoom is still nice for the iPhone 7 plus. I would say that people probably wouldn't notice the quality. If you made YouTube videos on this today, and you put good lighting around you, they probably wouldn't even notice you're shooting on an older phone. But if you stack this next to the iPhone 12, and you start going out and taking photos, and you compare them side by side, you'll see a major upgrade in the newer ones, even the 11 and even the 10s series.

It's been getting upgraded every year. So this is an area where you notice it's way behind is the cameras. So this was the year when apple got rid of the headphone jack. Believe it's been that long. It's been like four years since apple got rid of the headphone jack on iPhones.

This was the first stereo speaker setup for iPhone. So what is up guys- and it was plenty loud, but it wasn't super full. It wasn't the best sound overall best part of the audio is coming from the bottom speaker, but I would say that iPhone, 7 plus still pretty acceptable. It's not like you're going to watch a video in 2020 and be like. Oh, you know.

I just can't hear what I'm listening to it sounds terrible. So let me talk about a few connectivity things before we get out of here: Bluetooth 4.2. So when you are connecting to Bluetooth devices here for the seven plus, it's not as snappy it's not as quick as the newer ones with 5.0. Secondly, there's no Wi-Fi six on here, so your Wi-Fi connection isn't the fastest either, but it's not like you're going to notice it that much it's just not quite as lightning fast as newer phones. Phone call quality, though, was pretty excellent.

These had Qualcomm modems. So definitely these did very well in the phone call, with the iPhone 7 plus with stereo speakers. Speakerphone calls were always loud enough for this phone. I would say connectivity is an area where we do have major upgrades in the 12 series this year, but still the iPhone 7 plus can do the basics just fine again. This is stuff that you only notice when you actually experience the newer phones.

You probably don't have much of a problem with it overall, but in conclusion, four years later it's been fun to revisit the seven plus, and I have to say I think it's, but it was a great phone. It definitely held up very well, and I'm not advocating you go pick one of these up. This video is kind of a revisited long-term update on this phone, but it still gets the latest and greatest iOS 14. Let me know your thoughts on the seven plus. Do you still have one? Are you keeping it for a while? Are you just waiting to update? Did you update to the 12 this year? Let us know your experience thumbs up if you enjoyed the video subscribe.

If you haven't already, and if you want to see any more long-term updates before the end of 2020, let me know down below I'll catch you all in the next episode. Thank you very much for watching nick here and peace.
