iPhone 12 Pro Max Review - More Is More?

Hi everyone canopy here this is the iPhone 12 Pro max the iPhone that pushes everything to the absolute limits from the display size to the battery capacity and the cameras you're getting a lot of phones, but is it too much well? This is my review. Today's video is brought to you by mystify customize your iPhone, while keeping it safe and protected get free shipping on your case order today, at the link in the description. Okay, so first up the design and without a doubt this is a beautiful phone from the squared off sides to the matte glass back that hides fingerprints and scratches it really looks great. The sides feel excellent to grip and hold and because it is stainless steel, it is much more drippy and more durable versus the iPhone 12 with its aluminum sides. Now this is a huge device. It has a 6.7 inch display and in theory it's not really much bigger than the iPhone 11 Pro max, but for some reason it feels huge. Maybe it's the new design with those flat edges, maybe it's the weight, but this phone feels like a lot.

It may almost be a dealbreaker for some people, just how big this phone is and how big it feels to carry on a daily basis. I'm used to quite big phones, but this feels like even more than most other big devices. Definitely try it out before you buy it. It's a lot of phone, but what you do get with big phones is a gorgeous display which is excellent for watching videos, editing photos, taking photos and shooting videos. Typing emails: it's fantastic to have this much screen to see everything for this price.

It really should have 120 hertz or at least 90 hertz, but Apple has once again done some magic here. It feels just under 90 hertz in daily usage from my experience and as someone who's used quite a few high refresh rate phones this year. I didn't really miss it here with apple's iOS, optimizations, animations and some sort of magic. It feels great. The display gets super bright, it's accurate and since it is OLED, it contributes to better battery performance, more vibrant, colors, contrast, dark blacks that blend in with the frame of this device and those side bezels by the way, are slim and uniform, while the notch is still definitely there and has pretty much the exact same face ID performance as previous years.

It does kind of look smaller on the phone, especially with a bigger display. It is the same size though, and face ID does unlock quite quick, but not from all angles and no mask support once again at the bottom. You have a lightning port bottom and top firing stereo speakers, and they do sound great. Now. I want to skip over to cameras, because this phone has things that are quite different from past iPhones, as well as the iPhone 12 Pro first.

The front camera is 12. Megapixel takes excellent, selfies and works in night mode for those clear nighttime, selfie shots and the front facing camera, shoots, 4k, video up to 60 frames per second and here's how the microphones sound on this phone pretty good at the back. This phone has three cameras, as well as a LIDAR sensor, just like the 12 pro, which provides better depth detail for portrait mode shots as well as augmented reality, capabilities and portrait shots with the LIDAR sensor. Definitely look a lot better and more natural versus shots coming out of a phone without a LIDAR sensor like the iPhone 12, for example. Still it's no pixel with its depth mode, there's a 12 megapixel main camera, with an f 1.6 aperture and a much larger sensor versus the 12 pro there's an ultra-wide camera, f, 2.4 and 120 degree fields of view, as well as a two and a half times: telephoto zoom camera at f, 2.2 versus the 12 pro at f2 and a 2 times optical zoom. Now I'll get this out of the way before we talk about overall photo quality.

Here on this phone, the two and a half times telephoto zoom provides a much different look versus the two time. Zoom, it's 65 millimeters versus 50 millimeters. You get better natural background blur with shots more sharpness and clarity when zoomed in, but at the cost of having to step back a bit further to get certain shots and slightly weaker night performance when using two and a half times zoom with the higher aperture. Personally, I prefer the two times zoom for photos and videos, but that's just me the two and a half times zoom does look great with daily camera performance photos are stellar with excellent dynamic range, color accuracy, sharpness and consistency amongst the different cameras. Taking photos with this phone is fun, reliable and straight up.

Excellent during the day versus the 12 pro, even with the larger main sensor, shots are not drastically different. Maybe you get a bit more sharpness here and there a bit better natural background blur for close-up objects, but you're not seeing a huge difference until it gets dark with the 12 pro max's larger sensor. It definitely does produce better shots at night versus the standard 12 pro, but not by a huge drastic margin like shots on the 12 pro. Don't look like trash in comparison it just it's a minor difference, but a better difference. You will see less noise and grain from shots on the 12 pro max versus the 12 pro, with more clarity and sharpness and details and better handling of highlights.

While I am just comparing this to the 12 pro directly, if you're upgrading from past iPhone models, the low light photography upgrades here are immense. The pro max can also achieve similarly bright shots to the 12 pro, but take a second or two less to take those shots due to the larger sensor with night mode, either way, though, with the larger sensor, f, 1.6, aperture and night mode, all together, taking good shots at night is possible for video recording the phone shoots, 4k video up to 60 frames per second and features, Dolby Vision, HDR, 10, recording. I did a much more detailed breakdown in my iPhone 12 and 12 pro review, but for a quick summary. This for now is kind of a niche feature. It's great for people who shoot more pro level.

iPhone video for TV shows some movies short films, that's kind of whom it's for it, provides more color, detail, better dynamic range and more flexibility while editing, but beyond that with HDR recording off, which I think many people will turn it off. Video recording is amazing. The three lenses plus the incredible stabilization, dynamic range, color accuracy and audio recording the 12 series has the best cameras for video. By far and for video recording at night quite similar to the photo taking capabilities, there's, definitely less noise, more clarity in shots and stabilization with sensor shift is a little better, but not by a huge difference from my testing at night. More so there's just less noise and a bit brighter shots overall, whether it be just for videos with family and friends, clips for social media or even shooting full YouTube videos or short films.

This phone absolutely kills it now performance on the 12 pro max is excellent, as it is with pretty much all the 12 series iPhones. This phone is insanely fast in its daily usage, with the Apple A14, processor and 6 gigabytes of ram, with multitasking swiping. Around opening apps there are no delays, it's all instant, even with no high refresh rate. This phone still maintains the buttery smoothness, which is stellar. You can play games edit.

Videos and photos do really anything on this phone, and it will feel smooth, and you'll likely feel this smooth for years and also get softer updates for at least five years or so as well. So, if you're paying for a phone, this expensive at least you're getting all the newest features a few years down the line in terms of battery life, actually using this phone, I'm quite a heavy user. That's why I tend to go with the biggest iPhone, which has the biggest battery. I use my phone all day with a mix of 5g and Wi-Fi taking calls using social media watching videos taking photos and the battery on this phone is good. It gets me through a full day of my regular usage from around 6am till around 10 o'clock at night, when I have to stop and charge the phone with a lightning cable QI, wireless charger or the MagSafe charger, but versus the 12 pro.

I was testing before using this phone. I didn't really see much of a drastic difference in usage time, but I certainly feel more confident using the max all day versus the 12 pro it does. Last once again, though, this battery life does vary per person. I use my phone quite a lot more than I probably should, but for most people it's a solid full day of usage, maybe sometime the next day before lunch, it's good battery life, okay, so iPhone 12 Pro max. It starts at eleven hundred dollars us or about fifteen hundred dollars, Canadian, it's a hundred dollars more than the iPhone 12 Pro, but who should buy this phone? Well, if you need, I mean need the bigger screen.

You need the assurance and confidence of the bigger battery. You want every photo and video, no matter the condition to be the absolute best. It can be on an iPhone, then go with the 12 pro max. More is more, but here's the thing sometimes more can end up being too much. This phone is a lot to handle and, honestly after using the 12 pro and switching to the 12 pro max, I didn't see much of a difference for me to want to spend the extra money and deal with the extra size and weight of this device.

The 12 pro is kind of the perfect middle ground in terms of its usability and display size and the differences I mentioned earlier between these two phones are not huge sure the camera's a bit better, the battery's a bit better. The display is a bit bigger at the cost of the phone being a hell of a lot more to carry and use on a daily basis. I don't know if the size here is worth it so reflect on the features I mentioned throughout this video on the 12 pro max really decide if those extra features are worth it for the extra size of this phone. Also, if you can try out the phone in the store really see if it's too big, or it's a good size and see if it can really fit into your life, but if it turns out, you really just can't deal with the size and usability of this phone just know the 12 pro and even the standard 12 are still solid options that don't take away much of the great experience here. They just aren't as massive as this monolith of a device.
