iPhone 12 Vs iPhone 8 Plus! (Comparison) (Review)

Welcome back everyone, I'm sure all of you guys know by now that the iPhone 12 has just come out, and we're going to take a look at it against the iPhone 8 plus. Now both these phones. You know I'll, definitely tell you right now. The iPhone 12 is the better phone 100, but that doesn't necessarily mean you should go and upgrade to it. I think the iPhone 8 plus still has a lot of you know spunk in it still too bro. You have not heard that reward in years.

You have to at least drop a like on this video now, but I'll definitely tell you between both these phones. The iPhone 12 is 100 the better one now side by side. First, price tag wise. The iPhone 12 cost me 829 dollars, which is a ton of money to drop on a phone. That's supposed to be kind of like a budget phone.

The iPhone 8 plus will probably cost you around 300. It's not going to cost you that much anymore, but I'll find the cheapest ones of both these on Amazon link them down in the description below you can get them from there and help support the channel at the same time now side by side. You can definitely tell that the iPhone 8 plus is you know a bigger phone overall, but it's funny, though, because it has a smaller screen than the iPhone 12. The iPhone 8 plus has a 5.5 inch IPS panel on the front. It's 1080p, not a bad panel at all, I've always said pretty much.

It was a perfect panel. You do have bezel around the whole entire phone, and that is something that definitely ages this device. It definitely doesn't add any flavor to it. If you look at a device like the iPhone 10, that thing has definitely held the test of time. This thing doesn't really do that, but it's totally okay, the panel itself is an OLED, but it still holds up very well.

I would say in 2020 and for a budget device I mean if this thing cost a thousand dollars. I would highly not recommend it, but because it costs you know a couple of hundred dollars. It's really not that bad of a pickup, the se2 recycled, pretty much this exact same design at a smaller body, and that thing has a pretty decent pickup still too, so I'll, definitely say in terms of a know, body standpoint: the iPhone 12 with its 6.1 inch display. It definitely looks better than the iPhone 8 plus you have that flat design on the sides as well, which really makes this phone feel that much better in the hand and what I'll tell you is like this. The iPhone 12 looks better than the iPhone 8 plus but day by day, if you're, just trying to look at it for like a dollar per value standpoint, the iPhone 8 plus, is still a really distant thing too.

The iPhone 12. Obviously it's going to be the better screen. It's OLED. It has true tone just like the plus, but it just has a better design and that's something that I really do like about it. And when you look at something like an iPhone 8 plus, it doesn't look bad, just kind of looks, outdated and people don't, and people look at the iPhone, 8 plus, and they don't think it's like a ancient, outdated phone.

They just say it's like an older iPhone and I don't really think it's that big of a deal. If, I'm being honest in terms of the thickness, you can actually kind of see, in my opinion, dude the iPhone 8 plus kind of looks a little thinner. Now. I have heard basically apple say that the iPhone 12 is actually thinner than the previous models and I think the iPhone 8 plus because of the curved design on the iPhone 8 plus, it definitely makes it feel thinner in the hands. Maybe it's a little thinner or thicker.

I don't know, but I feel like the iPhone 12 feels thicker than even the iPhone 11, even though it's not in this case. How, maybe I would say the iPhone 8 plus is thinner, but who knows, and on the back, you have dual camera setups on both. But this is an ultra white sensor. That's a telephoto lens glass backs on both in a very cracked back on my iPhone 8 plus now the iPhone 11. Now the iPhone 12 has that MagSafe capability right here, which is really cool, iPhone 8 plus, can still be charged from it.

But it's really not that big of a deal from being completely honest. So in terms of the outside I mean we also have IP certification on both, but the IP certification on the iPhone 12 is much better. You can go six meters of water for 30 minutes on the iPhone 12, which is really, really cool, and I'll definitely tell you. You know, for the outside. The iPhone 12 is 100 the winner there's no doubt about it.

They kind of feel somewhat same in the hand. You know it's a similar glass back. It's similar to the fronts like the only difference is the home button on this one and like the back with the camera that way versus the iPhone 12, you know the very little bezel, rounded flat sides and also the camera that way too. So in terms of the outside that pretty much covers it up now hitting on the software. There's no competition here, the iPhone 12 is going to outlast the iPhone 8 plus, but for the next I would say the couple of years.

Both these phones are still going to be relevant. I think for the next three years, we're still going to be getting updates on the iPhone 8 plus. So it's not like the iPhone 12 is going to be. You know going to last way longer. Currently, it doesn't really matter right now, because both these phones are still getting the same updates even same day updates, but you're going to notice the difference a couple of years from now.

So as of right now, it's not a big deal, but maybe a couple of years from now you'll start to see some differences. So if you're watching this video a couple of years from now, then maybe getting the iPhone 12 would be a better deal. So in terms of software that pretty much covers it up now, hitting on the performance, and I'll go ahead and do a speed comparison between them. The iPhone 8 plus had that apple 11 bionic chips with three gigabytes of ram. The iPhone 12 has that Apple A14 bionic chip with four gigabytes of ram, so let's go and see which one is the faster phone between both of these okay.

Now that we're back, let me go and clear all these apps in the background- and I should start doing this before the videos. I always do this right now, it's so annoying. Okay, all the apps are cleared out. Let's start opening up, let's do phone calls three two ones. Okay, I think about the same safari: let's go and load up some random web page.

We can do google three two one and about the same on both not a ginormous difference. Music 321, I think iPhone 12 was faster to get into that. Oh yeah, definitely especially when you consider this that kind of took a while on that phone scrolling speeds. I was going to test, but you can't really test it. You can do the app store 3-2-1 and the iPhone 12 was definitely faster.

Let me turn up the brightness here a little. The iPhone 12 is definitely faster there. In my opinion, scrolling speeds uh about the same here, not a ginormous difference at all. I would say, so that's a good thing. I guess if you have an iPhone 8 plus now, let's go and start loading out these third-party apps that I have on both of these now for some reason on this phone they really got discombobulated.

So let's do temple run two three, two one and a little of a pop-up here. I don't know why that happened, so we'll give this one like an extra millisecond or half second, but definitely either or the iPhone 12 would have been faster, but again give this like an extra half a second. I wasn't expecting that pop-up. So I guess that kind of answered itself. That was a pretty big difference getting to some gameplay.

I don't think there's going to be a big difference at all, but I guess we'll see, and yeah gameplay is about the same on both no stuttering or anything like that. BFA three two one iPhone 12 was faster, iPhone, 8, plus a little behind, but Dropbox three, two one iPhone 12 again was the faster one. There iPhone 8, plus a little behind Quizlet 321. My iPhone 12 is just flying by on these apps, the iPhone 8 plus definitely a little behind Netflix 321, and what I'll definitely tell you is I'm going to probably say that the iPhone 12 is going to be the fastest one every single time, but a very important thing to keep in mind saying first box 321 is that you know I was expecting way faster performance and even though the iPhone 12 is faster so far, every single time, it hasn't really been something that you know. The way apple was talking about in the keynote really had me thinking that this phone was going to be way faster than any other iPhone.

I've ever tried, and I guess it is faster, but it's not, as I mean, I think they overhyped it a little. Thank you three two one, and I saw some other people kind of talking about the speed test 2 when they said the same thing. Well, they didn't say the same thing I did. They said the iPhone 12 is superfast and all this stuff, but I don't know it's definitely faster, but I don't really think I would go and upgrade, but I don't know it's definitely faster though. Hopefully I'm making sense to you guys, you can do stack, 321 and again iPhone 12 was faster there.

I guess we can go and load into this game a little see if there's a difference and as always, I really don't think, there's going to be a difference at all, but I guess we'll wait and see, and so far so good, let's go into fruit. Ninja three two one and the iPhone 12 is faster. There iPhone 8 plus a little behind again, not a ginormous difference, but there was a big difference there for sure Facebook. Three two one iPhone 12 faster, iPhone, 8, plus a little behind twitter. Three, two one iPhone 12 faster, iPhone, 8 plus behind again Instagram.

Three. Two one iPhone 12 is faster iPhone, 8, plus behind paper Io 2, 3, 2 1. And the iPhone 12 is faster and the iPhone 8 plus a little behind getting into some game play. I don't think, there's going to be a ginormous, maybe there will be, and so far so good on both they're kind of seeming to be around the same. So I guess that's a good thing for both of them for sure, and I guess we can end it off with the real racing.

Three two one. Hopefully I don't have a downloading panel on the iPhone 8 plus. Sometimes that does happen, and it causes some weird issues, and it glitched up a little, and this may mean that the iPhone 8 plus may not go and open into the app. So I will probably just assume that the iPhone 12 would have been faster here and to be completely honest, I'm actually really surprised about how well the iPhone 12 did compare to the iPhone 8 plus. I was expecting there to be a big difference for sure, but maybe I wasn't expecting this big of a difference.

I saw with the iPhone 12 against the iPhone 11 and 11 pro that there were marginal differences eventually, when you go up to the iPhone like 10s and the iPhone 12, that's still a little of difference, and sometimes the tennis was actually faster, but definitely when I saw the iPhone 12 versus like this phone, I'm seeing some pretty big differences for sure, which is a good thing. But if you have an iPhone 8 plus that may make you feel a little bad, but I'll definitely say I would probably still keep an iPhone 8 plus. But if I was going to go up to a phone, I probably won't go to the 12. I would go for the 12 pro, but I'll get into that towards the end and both of them ram management seems to be about the same too, but the iPhone 12 has done a little better I'll. Give it that.

So in terms of that, that pretty much covers it up, let's go and hit on the camera sensors. Now both of them have dual camera setups, like I said on the back, all 12 megapixel sensors. So two 12 megapixel sensors to 12 megapixels, sensors. The main difference is, is that the iPhone 8 plus has a telephoto lens here. The iPhone 12 has an ultra white sensor so determine which one you like and then kind of go from there.

A very important thing to keep in mind is that both of them can do 4k 60 on the back camera, which is a really cool thing, but the front cameras, I think, is where the bigger differences are. If you don't really care or know about the telephoto versus ultrawide sensor, then I guess whatever, but in terms of the front camera you can only do 1080p at 30 on the front camera of the iPhone 8 plus, where you can do 4k at 60 on the iPhone 12. And me personally, I use my front camera way more than I use my back camera. Whenever I make snap chats or videos or whatever take talks, I don't ever I never post tick rocks, but the front camera is something I do all the time that you know. I'd rather have a better front camera than a better back camera marginally.

Now, with the iPhone 8 plus, you still have a lot of features for the most part. You know you still have that telephoto lens, which makes you zoom in a lot into a photo if you want it, but without at that ultrawide sensor, I kind of do miss it and I, like an ultra white sensor more than I like a telephoto lens. To be completely honest. You still have portrait mode on this phone too, which is really cool, and you still have a ton of capability on this device, but I feel like, like I said before the biggest area, that this phone kind of falls flat in would definitely be that front camera. I feel.

Like apple. You know this phone came out of 2017, so it's totally okay, like they can't go back in time, and this was a perfect camera for 2017 and the quality, I think, is still perfect. If you have an iPhone 8 plus the back camera is still perfect for the most part, but I think especially when you compare to the iPhone 12, so not as it's just not as good, which is expected, because this is a newer phone. It's supposed to be not as good and with the iPhone 12 you're, getting a ton of capability for sure. You know with that additional ultrawide sensor.

It makes it. I just like the ultrawide sensor way more. The telephoto lens like I can go ahead and crop into a photo more. If I want to, but with a know, ultrawide sensor, you can't really have that. You can't really replicate like that on the iPhone 12 on the iPhone 8 plus, I still have Porsche remote and stuff like that.

You have a perfect front facing camera.4K, it's 60 on this camera as well, and any time I use the camera app. It really just looks so cool because there's like very little bezel on the entire display- and it's just like, looks like it's all went out, but in terms of the camera for sure the iPhone 12 is the better camera over the iPhone 8 plus now to end it off with the battery life for sure 100. The iPhone 12 will have a little better battery life, in my opinion than the iPhone 8 plus, and that mostly has to do with the bigger battery that this phone has, but also the more optimized chipset. But I don't want to let you guys down, so I'll, do a full battery test between these two very, very soon, but I would assume, as of right now, that the iPhone 12 will probably last longer than the iPhone 8 plus. So in terms of that, that really pretty much covers up the whole comparison and to kind of sum up the video and say answer the question: should you pick up the iPhone 8 plus, or should you pick up the 12, or should you go and upgrade from your 8 plus to the 12.

? Now I'll definitely tell you, let me start off with some pros and cons for the 8 plus first, this phone still has a lot of going for it. I would say you know you're still getting soft drop days for a very long time. The screen of this phone still looks pretty good for the most part. If you don't care about this IPS versus OLED thing, then I think a lot of people will still be happy with this type of display. It's still pretty fast and pretty smooth.

Of course, it's slower than the iPhone 12, but I think for day-to-day tasks and anything you're really going to do with it. I think you're going to be perfectly fine with an iPhone 8, plus the cameras are still pretty good for the most part again compared to the iPhone 12. It's not that great, but the 8 plus camera is still pretty good. Battery life is kind of comparable to the 12, in my opinion, from what I've seen, and you're still getting IP certification you're still getting all these other things that iOS, you know comes with, and it's at a way cheaper price tag. It's like less than half the price of the iPhone 12.

So that's a humongous thing to keep in mind if these were the same price obviously go for the 12, but this is less than half the price, so that makes it you know a perfect value phone. In my opinion, now the iPhone 12. For the other hand, I mean this is the best iPhone you can buy, though the 12 pro max, but this is the one of the newer iPhones. So if you have the money, then 100 go for it. It is an overall better phone than the iPhone 8 plus, and you know, you're getting a better display, a newer body type which is cool you're getting you know, I guess a better camera setup.

That is something that's very important. You're getting a faster phone for sure and ram management will also be better, as I've proven. So that's another huge thing to keep in min dip certification. This phone is more durable, and it won't break on you as much from what I've heard and the drop test that I've seen. So that is something that's really important as well, and it's going to be lasting longer in terms of software than the iPhone 8 plus.

So that's a very, very important thing to keep in mind again. Is it a dealbreaker? Is it the craziest thing in the world? Not really, and I would even say if you still have the iPhone 8 plus, I would probably recommend keeping it unless there's a dying need for you to go and pick up a phone, and if that's the case, if you have an upgrade, or you want to go, grab a new phone right now, I wouldn't even recommend going for an iPhone 12. I would probably recommend going for an iPhone 12 Pro to be completely honest. There's not that big of a difference between this phone and the 12 pro in terms of pricing. If you can save up like an extra like hundred something dollars, I would way recommend getting an iPhone 12 Pro than an iPhone 12 in my opinion, so that really pretty much covers it up for the most part.
