iPhone 12 Mini vs Samsung Galaxy S20 FE | ULTIMATE Camera Comparison Test

Yo Ben from another tech: what's good, everyone welcome to another ultimate camera comparison, iPhone 12 mini versus the s20 Fe, as always man. You know what we do. We've got to put it through everything man and what you're seeing right now is 4k UHD, 60 frames per second on both the selfie cameras, which is impressive, to say the least, but let's do a quick, spec breakdown, and then we'll come back into the main camera comparison. So just a quick breakdown of the main camera hardware spec, starting with the iPhone 12 mini. You do have a dual camera system at the rear. The main camera is a 12 megapixel, f, 1.6 aperture, with dual pixel face: detection, autofocus and optical image, stabilization is and then the ultra-wide angle. Camera is 12 megapixels at f, 2.4 for 120 degree, field of view, and then the selfie camera is also 12 megapixels at f 2.2, then moving over to the s20 Fe, with a triple camera at the rear, 12 megapixels, on the main, with an f 1.8, aperture and optical image. Stabilization with face detection, autofocus, and you do have a 12 megapixel ultra-wide at f 2.2 for 123 degree, field of view and an 8 megapixel, f, 2.4, x, 3 optical zoom, with is and the selfie camera is a high megapixel 32 megapixel sensor with an f 2.2 aperture as well. All the main specs of the camera will be linked in the description below.

Let's get back onto the main camera comparison, so starting with the selfie camera 4k UHC 60 frames a second, it's windy, but we've got a mix of the sun overcast everything so checking out the stabilization dynamic range colors. Look like quick run now, we'll switch over to 4k UHD frames, a second again testing the same overall color stabilization, dynamic range, quick run, so quick test, 1080p frames, a second click on how the mics perform with noise reduction, as well as just pure, sound pickup as well again testing the stability. Now we are on the main again, I'm going to switch the ultrawide on both ultra-wide ultra-wide 4k UHC fight frames a second. Obviously, you can record that on the fly, and we'll see the stabilization, I'm going to stop come back to the main and that's the name. We're going to do time three to be equal in both now.

What you've got to remember is that iPhone, 12 mini does not have a dedicated telephoto sensor, so it's cropping on a main sensor versus the time through optical zoom, on the s20 FD, and stop now on 4k UHD 60 frames a second on both the cameras a bit of a quirk. Now the iPhone does allow you to record on the main and the ultra-wide, but we're starting on the main camera sensor on the iPhone 12 mini. You do have to stop the recording before you can switch the ultra-wide to record in 4k u1860, so a slight quirk there's a slight quirk nonetheless, whereas obviously with the s20 Fe, you can only record with the main camera sensor. So, on the main, quick run, we're going to do a time, 2 zoom, on both side on the main camera sensor in 4k, you actually 60 frames, a second take a small run and stop bring it back and bring it back now. We're still in 4k, UHC 60 frames a second, but the 12 mini is on the ultra-wide angle, camera, whereas obviously, like I stated you cannot switch to that on the s20 Fe.

What you will notice is, as you are actually zooming in. You are cropping on the ultra-wide angle sensor. That's why it only goes up to 1.5 x and if it's at one x, it's not actually on the main sensor. It's still on the ultra-wide. You need to emphasize it so you, you know the difference, but here back to the ultra-wide, we see how the colors image quality stabilization, fair, quick, small run, and this is definitely one advantage that the iPhone told me does have in terms of video consistency and flexibility across all camera, sensors and video shooting modes.

Quick run down, 1080p 30 frames a second. We just see our image quality. It looks like main camera sensor. First, quick run, so that's the main camera sensor, we're gonna, stop move to the ultra-wide on both see how the image quality is like another quick run, main time screw optical zoom main times three digital crop, zoom quick, run back to the main camera sensor back to the main do so. This is the loadout performance of the iPhone 12 mini versus the Samsung s20 Fe 4k UHD 30 frames a second, let's start with the main camera see how obviously, how the low light performs on both and damage stabilization all right.

Let's stop we're going to switch to ultrawide, as stated from before using an ultrawide, you see a massive loss in low-light performance, and we'll stop come back to the main. Come back to the main. We're going to do here, we're going to zoom. In times three on the iPhone 12 mini times. Three and again the 12 minute doesn't have a zoom sensor lens, so it's cropping on the main and I suspect, obviously the s20 fee is cropping on the main as well, because there's less light on the telephoto, it's most likely using the main sensor to crop into times.

Three we're going to stop come to the main, come to the main low-light performance on a selfie camera, 4k, UHD 30 frames a second on both 12 mini and the s20 Fe extreme low light test, see how that performs. Now we're just going to transition on the lamp post, starting with the daylight shots. With this first selfie of myself, man, definitely gotta say that I do prefer the iPhone 12 mini better colors overall. Both do produce really sharp images, but I just like the overall look of the iPhone 12 mini on this particular one, and you've got the portrait selfie on both. I do again overall, like the look of the iPhone 12 mini both have great background, blur great edge detection that did really well considering the situation.

I think the s20f you did a better job when it comes to edge detection. If you look at the jacket, but overall, I still do prefer the look of the iPhone 12 mini. This is an extreme backlit situation and I think overall I would say the s20 Fe really does a better job. Overall, it just looks better much sharper image, great edge detection, much better handling of the sunlight in the back, but the iPhone is not bad as well. I think, overall, I do prefer the s20 Fe on this particular one and then same again without the portrait mode again in a backlit situation.

S20Fe to me personally looks better at the two. That's what I prefer in this particular situation: amazing, how things switch up when you're on a backlit situation. Now this show of the Christmas tree very tough, very, very even I'll, probably say- maybe there's a slight shift in the color temperature man. S20 fee may be slightly warmer versus a slightly cooler image on the iPhone, but really man I looked around, and the image is very, even I think it's just a personal style, both a sharp, well detailed yeah and with the ultra-wide, both producing a great image. But I would say ever so slightly: you do have a slightly wider field of view on the s20 fees.

You will grab a little more, but it's really hard to pick between the two man. Both are very consistent in that sense, and they're both looking perfect. It's just a slight color change in terms of the temperature man ever, so it's slightly warmer than s20 versus a cooler image on the 12 minute. Now this picture of myself and my black jacket and black jeans, I there's nothing wrong with bow 3d. I think reader s20 Fe.

If you look, really preserves the look of the black colors much more accurately, compared to a slightly more you know, brighter more kind of like whiter overlook to the 12 mini. I don't think there's anything wrong with the both and, if you look at it, even switching to the portrait mode, both do really well on the portrait mode in terms of the field of view slightly different, because obviously both don't have a times two zoom to really give you that near 50 to 52, millimeter, look, but I think the overall edge detection, even the gaps in between my arms and how my arms are positioned to really see how it handles it. The background blur, I think the 12 mini, has a bit more blur in terms of the fall off and obviously with both you can edit after the post but yeah. I think I like both. Maybe I like the s20 Fe a little better for me personally, but I think the skin tones are a little more accurate on the 12 mini.

Let me know in the comment section below which one you prefer now switching to the ultra-wide. I preferred the s20 Fe with the 12 mini, it's very, very subtle. But if you look at the green jacket man, there is slightly there's noise being produced in this. For some reason, so I don't know- I prefer the s20 fee over here um, although it does crush the blacks a little old mini lifts the shadows. If you look at the jeans um, I think it's a tough one, but I lean more to the s18v first landscape, shot of the main camera and I would say the 12 mini- is the one I'm liking at the two more detail.

It looks more color accurate as well when switching to the ultra-wide on this overcast day, I think both are struggling. I think maybe the s20 heavy edges out ever so slightly in terms of the colors and just the slight detail that it holds, but both are struggling here on the nova casting ultra-wide angle, camera now, in terms of the zoom capabilities, you will see that obviously not having a dedicated zoom sensor on here is where it really hurts the iPhone 12 mini. You can see here time three optical zoom times three digital zoom, and then with that you can go into times 10 times 20, as well as times 30 on the hybrid digital zoom. On the s20 Fe, so if that matters to you like, it's going to be the camera that you're going to do and use for these longer, telephoto zoom reach shots, which is just something that you're not really going to get on the 12 mini. So that's a compromise and a sacrifice on the hardware level, with the 12 mini now, first nighttime shot.

I tried to retake this on the timer so many times, but s20 fee just kept coming out soft. So I've got to give this one to the 12 mini. I think overall, they look okay enough and no like between the two, but I do prefer the 12 minute in this particular shot and both looking at the ultra-wide and low light. Both are struggling s20if. You may be slightly better, but it's not better enough for it to be usable.

The 12-minute just looks completely muddy, avoid using an ultrawide on both in a standard nighttime taking shots night mode on the main camera of myself and both take a different approach, but both do really well brighter image on the 12 mini, but a more kind of nighttime preserved. Look on the s20 Fe. This one is just really down to how you like your night mode shots taken, and this particular one is the night mode on the old, wide angle, camera you can see that night mode on the ultrawide really does help. It still struggles, I would say, still stick to the main camera, but if you're going to use the ultrawide, try and use night mode and be as still as possible, there's some nighttime landscape shots and both the main cameras are really clear, actually doing a decent job in night mode for the main camera sensors. So not bad, really like it's really just down to personal choice.

Now, when you switch it ultra-wide again, the iPhone 12 mini falls apart. There are 28 feet does fall apart as well, but it holds a much better job, but not better enough where it's usable, but both really do fall about when it comes to the ultra-wide nighttime landscape shots. Now. Finally enough, when zooming in and at nighttime, you are cropping on the main sensor on both these cameras, and you're. Looking at times three on the s20 Fe versus times, two digital on the 12 mini 12 mini actually looks a bit clearer to me, and the color preservation looks a little better as well, and when you do switch a times three digital versus the times.

Three on the s20 story is pretty much the same. I kind of do prefer the 12 mini when zoomed in at nighttime. In this particular situation, let's get some extreme low light shots in this one main camera both are really doing the best they can. It looks pretty much even to be honest, maybe slightly better and slightly brighter, on the 12 mini, but both pretty much neck and neck in this particular situation and again just emphasizing ultra low light, extreme low light situations to not use the ultra-wide. Both are awful, and you can really see just the noise pattern on the 12 mini.

It really struggles and look like less noise, but you can't even see the image on s20 fees so avoid it in extreme low light situations on these ultra lights night mode on the main cameras both are neck and neck. I really like how both have just come out perfect. This one ain't really much about which one is better or not. It's just really down to just personal choice. They both look perfect for the main camera in night mode and again this is the night mode with the ultra-wide angle, camera.

I have to give this one to the 12 mini. You can see more. I still managed to keep good detail, has to be the 12 minute with the night mode, an old right angle, camera doing a perfect job here and again night. I have to give this one to the 12 mini, not really both doing that great, but the 12 mini is doing a slightly better job, brighter image that you can see. So I have to give it to the 12 million on this particular shot and also with the night mode.

Selfie have to give it to the 12 minute, as well as a much better image. You can actually see versus the s20 Fe, so 12 million all the way in this particular situation, and this is the selfie with the flash without the night mode, and I think I like the style of the s20 Fe, but the bright image also is really looking good on the 12 minute if you're going to be using a flash for the selfie at nighttime- and these are some nighttime portrait shots, and you do see ever so slightly more noise grain. But it is a brighter image and the portrait mode on both actually holding up really well. So it's slightly darker on the s28v fewer details that you can see. I think this one is a 12 minute for me.

I prefer the 12 million in this particular one and yeah. It looks good and as much as I wouldn't use the flash, if you are going to use the flash and use the portrait mode 12 mini, I do prefer the 12 mini versus the style of the s20, with the flash and the live focus portrait mode, so 12 mini 4 nighttime portrait shots. If that matters to you, that's the one I'm going for now. Wrapping up the conclusion to this camera comparison test, I have to say the overall video experience on the 12 mini is definitely better, does not mean the s20 Fe, isn't good for video. They trade pound for pound in so many areas, but I think the consistency on the 12 minutes better.

You get better stabilization in the selfie camera for video. It does take a slight hit to dynamic range when in 4k 60 UHD at the front facing camera, but overall, when it comes to just being able to shoot 4k 60 in the ultrawide, as well as the main, the stabilization being able to shoot in 10-bit color, as well as obviously HDR with Dolby Vision, which I didn't test. But nonetheless, I think the overall consistent experience on the 12 million for video is perfect. On the photo side, I have to say that it does trade blows. There was a lot of shots on the s20 that I was preferring a lot more nighttime pictures the trade blows, but also when it comes to even how audio is picked up in video.

They pick up audio very well. I think it's just a different style, there's, probably more noise cancellation and noise suppression in terms of the surrounding background noise on the s20 fee, whereas overall the 12 minute is louder, but both our stereo both have good sound. So it really just depends on what you're looking for um yeah, this one's a perfect camera comparison, and I think really, whichever one you use depending on what your priorities are. You're going to have a great camera experience, but do bear in mind that you do not get that extra telephoto sensor on the 12 mini, which is something that you do get on the s20 Fe, and that is it for me from this ultimate camera comparison between both these phones. Let me know in the comment section below which one you prefer the two: that's it for me, Ben from lover of tech.
