iPad Pro 2020 vlogging and camera quality test in 4K 24FPS with front and back camera comparison

All right David hardy here now, the other day I uploaded my very first test of the iPad Pro 2020 with regard its front and back cameras specifically for doing foggy stuff, and it was a bit of a picture quality test. Now I did these for my YouTube busy, Mr IAN Craig, whose channel you can get to with a link somewhere around here and there'll, be a link in the description to his channel. Now that face video was done at 60 frames per second in UHD 4k, so what I've done? At the same time, we've shot some stuff at 24 frames per second as well just so we can see what the differences are. So this video is going to be the testing of the 24 frames per second stuff. Now I don't think I got this wrong, but when I set it to 24 frames per second, when I was shooting on the front camera that didn't do 24, I think it did either 29.97 or 30. So what I've done here is a frame rate conversion.

So we can see what the front camera looks like at 24. If I've got that wrong- and it does indeed do that- please let me know in the comments it's just- I couldn't get 24 frames per second out the front camera. Also, the front camera is HD, so I have upscaled that as well. So any of the front camera stuff here is upscaling and frame rate, changing and stuff like that, just so that it matches the UHD 4k of the rear camera, which was UHD 4k at 24 frames per second anyways, like I say it's very, very faced out of the box testing type stuff. This so just bear that in mind.

So here's the video, and I'll come back at the end and do a little of a summary all right Craig. This is the 24p variation of these uh, quick initial tests that I'm doing with the iPad Pro 2020 for you. So right now, I'm on air the front camera in selfie mode, although I feel a bit of an idiot in the parking on this park. Bench right and I've got this. I'm sitting here with an iPad held out with both arms right in front of me talking to it and there's people walking by right and honestly, the looks from getting.

I mean. Furthermore, I'm not surprised like what happened, though this little kid just walked by a right, and he's just standing there. Looking at me, and I was going, you can carry on looking, you should have seen his mark god. She was dead, tasty, anyways yeah, it's a little windy, don't know if the mic is going to start getting a little knocked out here, but this is primarily anyway pitch a task for you, buddy um yeah. You know what I've so difficult reeling myself in here, not like you know, being the usual self anyways yet so once again front camera, uh 24p and I believe the front camera only does HD, so it will be upscaled to 4k for the output and stuff and once again yeah.

The cavalier is the road. The road laughter is there, the lav go okay. So what I'm going to do now is flip it around onto the main cameras on the back. Okay. So on to the rear cameras now, and I say, rear cameras, there are two of them, but it's obviously only recording one at the same time as so anyways Jedi, and it's 24, p and 4k right, and I think I'm right that the front cameras are HD.

In fact, you know what I'll do, and I'll mark something up on the on some titling for you there just in case I've got stuff wrong. It's highly likely. I've got a bunch of stuff wrong here, because it didn't even bother reading anything about it. Um did I had a quick look on the apple cited some stuff, but I just got bought that quick got off it, which, for somebody who makes long boring videos is a bit of an irony. So, yes, this is just the rear camera.

To give you a good idea, I'm trying to think of things to talk about here, because what I really need to do now is just kind of I'll try some stuff walking with it, but it's going to be all over the place. Generally, I mean, but I think if you were standing you know sitting still or had you know the tablet you know on a table, maybe in a case just angled, and you were talking to it. I think you could definitely vlog with it. It's not a walking vlog and thing obviously, and I don't even know whether it's got stabilization either, and I don't know what cameras it's using on the back or nothing before I do a YouTube video about this. I'm really going to have to do some research anyways I mean this is gonna.

Give me a good idea as to two fundamentals: the basic raw picture, quality, and also you know what the microphone is going to be like yeah. I've also tested some SLR mics, and I've got like three options now as well to put SLR mics in phantom power down. I mix all kinds of stuff. It's perfect, all right Danny. What I'm going to do now is just dive off and see what other stuff I can do for you so a little of walking with it.

Then um I mean I can see on the screen here. It's yeah, it's all over the place. It's a freaking car crash right, but I'll do it anyway. Just for the sake of being thoroughness, Jordan, the testing right they've got cables dangling everywhere. Here I don't know whether the mic is getting battered by the by me.

Headphone cable, oh yeah. I've got headphones on right. Now, I'm not trying to be all like super trendy. What it is I just need to keep double, checking the takes to make sure that the mic was engaged uh. What it is, I keep yanking the cables out, which is another and another thing for why you know me um.

You know me road, the speed road setups, the best you know the um, the lav go and the wireless go. Honestly. I've pulled this cable three times now. If I'd have had the road and the road life system on the go on the go, I wouldn't have had any of these problems. In fact, what I'll have to do? Judging you know, by what these are all going to be like the takes and stuff I'll end up, um like doing a bunch of mic stuff with it as well.

I think it's going to be pretty neat, especially with the USB stuff as well anyway. So this was, I don't know what was I on it? Oh front, so it's 24. Look, I'm looking at the screen, no more cameras, what an idiot sorry jump caught me. So I was just cracking myself up with how stupid I am I'm actually looking at myself on the screen saying what camera is it? Okay, so 24p and HD? This was, and I've gone in and out of shade and stuff. In fact, let me get on to the other camera now here to give us an idea of what that's going to do in and out of shade as well.

Okay, so rear cameras, then 24p 4k right. I just said that this looks like a car crash. I'm obviously not looking at it properly. In regard to stabilization, I've just had a quick look at it to make sure that I was monitoring. You know for the sound of that.

I actually think it's perfect for what it is. I mean, don't get me wrong, you know it's not like it's a GoPro hero, 8 or anything as far as stabilization is concerned, but it probably beats that zv1 you've got no, I'm here quite shocked, actually there's definitely stabilization going on it, and it actually does a fairly decent job. Okay, so uh rear camera, so full 4k 24, and then what I'm going to do here, in fact I'll just go in and out of a bit of lasers and talk, and so I've got just come out of a ton of shade, so we'll start to respond and with exposure and such air I'll do a little quick turn here. Okay, see how that is, I mean obviously my 24 now, so it's not as good temporarily for these type of things as what 60 is obviously well. Hopefully, there might be something like you know, decent something to do with the stabilization with this as well.

Okay. So I'm going to have to record some other stuff here for the 60 frame vision. If this death doesn't do for you, then I'll do some close-up stuff all right team. What it is I've just done touch to focus here to see if I can get all of this bee, just going to see how close I can get in. I don't want to upset him or piss him off or anything or here I don't know.

I can't tell the sex of a bee. Okay, so see what that b was like now I'll try and go closer into the flower itself. Well on the screen here. This definitely looks like it's, focusing on a certain plane there and look at all that poker in the back. Oh, bee's back hold on.

Lets oh bee's, back there's the back of the bay there. We go IAN, see you think of that. Now, I'm just going to pull up into the trees at the back. Let's just see if it also focuses into the trees. Okay, no, but I'm going to touch the focus.

Okay, so touch the focus there. Now. Let me just do a bit of a rack focus here on the b again hold on. Oh, rack focus on the bee. Okay, so that'll do for that one all right team.

What I'm going to do now, I'm just going to point it straight into the sun, and then I'm just going to kind of swoop down and pan into the park as it were. Let's just see what it does as far as the exposure and the focus is concerned, so that's going down now too across to the side of that field there in the park. Okay and then I can't really tell here what's going on with that, what it is the screen's perfect actually for, like you know, looking at stuff and that it did look okay, and it actually looked like it might have exposed going into the sun right down there, where the sun's, basically behind it now. Okay, so that'll do for that one okay, so this is just going to be a wide shot now just kind of looking across this field in the park I'll try and go a little slower as I'm tuning doing this little pan thing. The only problem is obviously this is 24p as well, so again, not as good as 64.

Its temporal characteristics and such bits of a flare on the go there as well yeah. This is your metamorphic flare for you already. Don't let me just come round here. Okay, right yeah, I mean, I don't know that seems okay. Now, I'm just going to go around a bit faster here back the other way.

Okay, that might be a bit of a blurry mess. I don't know, okay, see what that looks like buddy all right IAN. This is going to be the last take here. So what it is? I've just done this shot at 60. So you can see this on the 60p version of this test that I've done for you, but, as you know, you'll have seen this a lot of times when I walk through this area in the park with the GoPro once it gets to YouTube, you get a lot of that mosaic pattern and going on all that blocking and stuff.

I'm just wondering what this is going to come out right, but the thing is this is actually exposed and really nicely on the screen. Here, I'm seeing much like a much brighter picture on the screen than what the area is where I am the other thing here. What would be interesting to compare against the 60 version? One is because this is 24. It's obviously going to need like less less gain and to get the same exposure 24 compared to 60. So I wonder if this is any difference for like the noise that is inevitably going to be here, there will be noise and stuff, but to be honest, if you can get a picture out of it, who cares all right, then buddy default the last take okay, so to an end summary then- and this is pretty much going to be the same as what I'd said in the previous video- I really like it- I like what you can do with the iPad Pro 2020, because I wasn't expecting to have anywhere near as good a camera system on it as what it's got now granted.

I've had a bit of a moan about the iPhone SC and stuff, and I think you could safely say that. Is there massive differences between the iPhone SC and the iPad Pro 2020, with its cameras? Probably not, but the thing was. I bought the SC very specifically to do some foggy stuff with it. Hence, why I was quite critical of it, however, with the iPad Pro 2020, because I didn't even consider the cameras for it once I've looked at them. I've gone these are perfect for what they are.

So I will be doing some more stuff with the cameras on this probably mostly indoors, because the outdoor stuff, it's a bit hard to walk around. You know with an iPad in front of your vlogging and stuff, like that, it's also fairly dangerous. I would imagine, because you really can't see what's going on in front here so as you're walking, because I nearly slipped in mud and stuff. When I went out yesterday to do stuff so yeah you have to be careful vlogging like walking with it. However, I suppose, if you put it down on the table when you're outdoors or if you're standing still or if maybe it's on a tripod stand or something which I will be testing at some point, I think you're going to be able to get some great results out of the cameras off the iPad Pro 2020.

Anyways. So if you're into this stuff, keep an eye on me channel because we'll be doing other things also as well. What I'm going to try and do over like the next few days into next week as well, is done some kind of quick videos where to show one particular thing about the iPad Pro so as a for instance, I've just bought like an Ethernet adapter for it USB to Ethernet. So I'll do a quick video about that. Also, I've been buying various connectors, for it so say, for instance, these things here which, like these little USB hub things with their HDMI and USB and stuff on it.

I've had four of them now just to see which is the best one. So I've actually got the best one so far, which actually does full 4k 60 frames per second out of it HDMI. It looks amazing as well. It's perfect. So what I'm going to do is do a couple of quick videos about those things, and ultimately they're going to lead up to my like recommendation for like a bit of kit, which you put together to turn the iPod pro 2020 into like a desktop system.

So basically you want to connect like say an Ethernet cable. You want to plug your iPad into a monitor, and you want to use mouse and keyboard and also an USB audio interface. So that's where I'm heading to for my system, but as I put this together, I will do individual videos about each little because I think each one of those little bits might be of use to someone as a, for instance, when I connect my USB audio devices and stuff to this thing it is brilliant. So I think that's going to be useful for people anyways there we go I'm going to get off now before the rabbits on anymore. So there's going to be links to playlists and videos and links to kind of stuff you can get hold off for it as I build it up within the descriptions of these videos, so check all that out, I'm David hardy! Thank you very much for watching this.

Video take care and goodbye. Now you.
