Google Pixel 5 Unboxing and Review

Pixel 5 unboxing and review hello everyone. Today we are going to be opening up the pixel 5. This was released October 15th, so we're a little late, but I'm super excited because I'm upgrading from my pixel 3 I've had only pixel phones exclusively for three or four years now. I've had two pixels like the original pixel ones, two of them and two pixel threes, this being one of them- and this is gorilla, glass 5, which should not break, but it did so. I'm really excited to have a brand-new screen. So while I unbox this today, I'm going to tell you a beautiful story of my pixel 3, and then I'm going to do a voice over to tell you some of the great specs that the pixel 5 has and why you should consider getting it.

So, let's begin okay. So even though this came out of October 15, I have not gotten a new phone, because I was waiting for Google to do a buy one, get one half off promotion like they did two years ago. When I got this so when I got this pixel 3, they did a buy one, get one fifty percent off, so I just got two phones because I was going to sell the other one on Fiji, which is the Canadian version of Craigslist, and I didn't end up selling it, which was amazing because it got water damage. Since I was in Spain- and I was following a wild bird into the water- and it turns out that being waterproof does not mean that it is salt, waterproof, no Sherlock. So if, if you want to ever take your phone into salt water, please don't do that because, even though this pixel 5 is ip68, I think that's its rating for being waterproof.

It does not mean it is salt waterproof. So that is why my other pixel 3 died. Yeah, fun story here is the new pixel 5. This is my favorite part, taking it out like this. That is so satisfying.

I'm just kidding. My favorite part is actually taking this part off. Are you ready for this? Oh, my gosh. It is so beautiful, okay, so this pixel 5, this pixel 5, is one day old, and you can already see the difference between the screens. Look, how beautiful and new this is.

This is one of the best feelings ever oh yeah, it's very satisfying anyway. I guess I need to set this up. Let's do that, let's set it up. So in the box we have a fast charging, 18 watt power, brick, a fast charging, cable and an USB an USB adapter. Obviously we need an adapter and that's pretty much it wows that was beautiful.

I was also waiting for Google to give me an employee discount, but they never gave us an employee discount on the pixel 5. So I just said whatever it's okay, I want it now. So, of course, in order to use the phone, we have to charge it first, but it seems that, prior to this we must do some sort of happy dance, which is what I'm doing now, and now we are unraveling the charging cable uh and not even giving it a chance. Nope don't do that it does have wireless charging. So really you don't even need this cable uh, but I wouldn't suggest doing whatever I'm doing here that that's just about it.

We're going to charge this baby, and then I'll come back, and else I wanted to mention is that the pixel phones have always had amazing screens, and I don't want to give off the wrong impression that this happened, because the screen is not good. This is gorilla glass, 5, which is actually really hard to break, but somehow I have managed to do that because I have put this phone through a lot. It has been to probably 20 or 30 countries, I'm not really sure if it has been thrown around and abused as heck. So this should not really happen even on a pixel 3, but it will definitely not happen on the pixel 5 with its gorilla glass 6. So I'm really pumped that I do not need a super hardcore case.

I'm just going to get a normal case. That looks pretty because this is pretty much unbreakable. If you want to purchase a pixel 5, it is 6.99 in the U. S. or 7.99. If you are Canadian, such as myself, but still a pretty good price, considering the price of an iPhone such as this one, so you can see the difference here between how huge the iPhone is compared to the pixel.

This is the only size that the pixel 5 comes in. There is no XL, but I think this is a perfect size. I would not change the thing about this size, okay, but mainly, let's compare it to the old pixel 3. So the first thing that you can notice between these two are obviously the size of the screen. This has way more screen real estate, and you can see the little camera right here.

I really like how this gives me a full screen and all that real estate for all of my little apps all right. So now, let's talk about the actual features on the new pixel 5. , so we still have the awesome fingerprint reader on the back, which I love, and I also have in my pixel 3, but there's some awesome cool features like battery sharing, so you know reverse wireless charging, where you can charge your other devices by using only your phone as the charger. You have call screening. There is a new menu for smart devices, so you can control your home devices directly from the menu in your smartphone and there's a live view mode inside Google Maps, but that's more of an android 11 features, but still worth mentioning, because it's really cool my favorite feature is the new display.

It looks amazing taking up all the real estate with this 90 hertz display. It also has 2 gigabytes, more ram, a bigger battery and, of course, it's water resistant, just like a few of the pixels before it, but it also has some amazing new camera features which I love like. I already loved the camera on the pixel 3. Obviously it is AI powered and the machine learning image. Processing that Google does is already amazing, but now they've added some really cool things like portrait night sight, which is a love child between portrait mode and night sight.

They also have this beautiful, ultra-wide angle, so check it out. I know that if they had, let me take the pictures for this Airbnb with the pixel 5. They would make a lot more money. I mean look at these photos. They're just amazing, and you can also shoot in 4k straight from your phone because it has 4k video.

So the only thing I would say might be a deterrent for some people, especially if you want the best performance possible in a phone, is that they did not opt for the best processor. So the pixel 5 has the snapdragon 765 g, and even my pixel 3 had the snapdragon 845. So they didn't choose anything in the 800 series, even though you know they would be 20, faster, CPU, speed and a lot of notable differences because they were aiming for a mid-range processor so that they could keep down the costs of adding 5g. Obviously, pixel 5 is a 5g phone and 5g technology is expensive, so all the other 5g phones are, you know pretty expensive, especially the ones that chose a higher end processor, and even with this mid-range processor, Google did a great job at having a very high-end user experience. So, honestly, you don't need a super high-end processor to have a good user experience and I think they did a great job with that.

Okay, it has only been one day since I've used my new pixel 5, but I am obsessed with it. The screen is so beautiful. I can't stop looking at it. I definitely have a phone addiction now, if I didn't already- and it's just so nice, it is better than real life and the photos this phone takes are better than real life. It is frightening real life is, it has to be a simulation.

This is unreal, so I am super happy with this phone. I think for this price point. This is probably the best you're going to get right now, with this amazing camera gorilla glass, six, all the perfect specs, and for some people it might be a little too small. But I think this is the perfect size. So I am really happy with this, and I hope that if you're considering getting the pixel 5, this has given you some insight into it.

Perhaps I'll make an update in a few months once it has been used and abused, and we'll see how it has held up to my usage anyway, make sure to give this video a like and subscribe for more tech videos, because I'll be making more so have a great day, and I'll see you in the next one bye.
