HUAWEI Mate 40 Pro Hands-On Review

Hello everyone- this is Faisal with another video, so I'm truly excited today, because this is what landed on my desk at work. The new Huawei Mate 40 pro guys check this out. Thank you so much to Huawei for allowing me to review this device for a few weeks, so stay tuned to my YouTube. Channel and I'll have all the details about this device on there and if you've got any questions or anything that you want to ask me, please drop it in the comment section below now: let's do a quick unboxing of the Huawei Mate 40 pro, so this Huawei Mate 40 pro is a 256 gig model, and it's in the mystic silver color. So let's do a quick unboxing in the box. You do have the device, let's check that out.

So this is the Huawei Mate 40 pro 256 gigs, that's the front of it! That's the side and that's the back check this color out. It gives you that beautiful, u and then the Lacey camera array there, and this is the other side also in the box. We do have the summer extraction tool, and I'm glad to see this there's also a cover in the box as well, so Huawei, actually including the cover, I'm really happy about this. One thing I always recommend is when people buy a new phone is get a new cover for the phone, so it stays protected. Nothing else in here.

Also in the box, we do have a charging cable, and then we have some headphones as well, and this doesn't have a headphone jack, but an USB cable, and then we have the charging brick, which is a 66 watt charging brick. So it means this Huawei Mate.40 pro supports fast charging, so that's it in the box. I'm going to set up the device now, and we'll do a quick review on it. So the Huawei Mate 40 pro is one of the best phones around in terms of hardware. Its camera take incredible pictures.

Its screen looks great and feels wonderful in the hand, thanks to its curved display and slender bulb. As you can see, the display goes right towards the edges here and from top to bottom now. The side buttons are easy to reach, as you can see in my hand and given the size of the screen. The phone feels lighter and thinner than I'd expected, though it's certainly not a compact phone. So in my hand you can see it doesn't look too bad, it's actually quite cool and on the side, you can see that the power button is now red.

So that's a nifty feature as well. Now this mate 40 pro posts, a 6.760, led full HD plus display, but flip it over, and it's day and night. This is the unique camera, housing and colorway of my reviewer, which is called mystic silver. Are both eye-catching elements so check this out? It gives you the tube between red, yellow and green. The device features a Karin 9005g system on a chip on board.

Apart from the support for 5g, which many newer Huawei devices support these days, the Karin 9000 also features a five nanometer architecture. Now this means that, despite several issues outside the realms of its control in 2020, Huawei is still able to keep pace with its rival in terms of chipset design. Now this outscore combines a CPU, GPU and CPU, which stands for neural processing unit into one soc and in one hand, felt unearthing in terms of its speed and ability to multitask, switching between processor, intensive applications with ease and showing no signs of strain or sluggishness. So it's quite smooth and when I was using it as well now accompanying the killer, 9000 is 8 gigabytes and 256 gigabytes of on-board storage. So, in terms of memory, the mate 40 pro is very much on par with its 2021 peers.

So there's no shortage of storage and memory. Let's come on to camera performance now, camera performance is one area where Huawei has set the pi in recent years with its Lacey partnership. So this camera array that you see here this camera array and this camera system is developed with Lacey and Lacey, are top manufacturers of cameras as for what that housing features. So, let's go through the cameras here. It features a new 50, megapixel, wide angle lens and paired with a 20 megapixel ultra-wide angle and 12 megapixel telephoto options.

It also has a sensor here as well. Now I was particularly impressed with the performance in low light, which is an area that Huawei has been focusing on in particular in recent years. So for me, it's a thumbs up there, but there is that question mark of not having google apps, particularly the play store, and this is questions that have been posed to me over and over. So what do you do, and what does this mean? Well, basically, this means there's lots. You can't do on this device.

You can't use most social media platforms or play many of the games. Furthermore, you'd like or handily navigate around a city right. So, but let me just show you this here. So there's no Google Play Store this phone. It's called the Huawei app gallery for me personally, I use Twitter a lot.

I use Facebook, I use Instagram and I use WhatsApp, but if you look at the device I do have these on the device. So I've got twitter. I've got Facebook, it was WhatsApp, and I got Instagram, so you can download the apps on your phone, but not from the Google Play Store. You do it through the Huawei app gallery that takes you to the desktop site, and then you download that it comes on to this particular folder, which is the quick app center, and then you download it and save it to the desktop like how it's done here, and then it works perfectly. There are some shortcomings as far as the apps are concerned, and you'll see a little lightning icon there on the Facebook, the Instagram and the Twitter app.

That basically means that's a shortcut. That's been created from the desktop, but there are some limitations. It's not the actual app remember because you're, not downloading it from the app store, you're creating a shortcut. So there are limitations. As you can see, twitter looks fine, there's not really an issue here as well, and then, if you look at Facebook, it's also not too bad, but, like I said there are some limitations.

The one I found a problem was with Instagram, so the Instagram is actually fine. It's not actually a problem, but when I go to Instagram stories you can see that it puts it into landscape mode, and it's not the way. It will be on a normal smartphone, that's because that is not the app. Unfortunately, that's some of the shortcomings that you have to live with, but I still managed to use these apps without any issues as well. When you look onto the app you will see, there's a little x there, which basically means to close the app so it that shows you also that this is not in mobile app, but rather a desktop site, and if I click on that little three dots, it will show you share about cancel, add to desktop.

So that's one of the shortcomings of not being able to download the original app from the app store, because there's no Google Play Store and there's no google as well. But if you want to search you don't have to worry about google because it does have its own search browser as well as you can see here. So let's come on to the Huawei's app gallery: now the Huawei's app gallery does have a few apps and some you might even recognize like tie, TOK, Snapchat, Amazon, shopping, tinder and telegram among them, but it doesn't come close to matching the vastness of the play store. Let's face it right now. Let's come on to price at 19, 999 ran the mate 40.

Pro 5g is supremely well-equipped, but leaves one crucial element unanswered. If google and Huawei join forces once again, the mate 40 pro 5g becomes the smartphone to beat thanks for watching hope you enjoyed the video, don't forget to hit the like button and also subscribe to the channel and also on my channel.
