Huawei GT2e Watch Straps, Apps, Custom Faces & more questions answered

Welcome to talkie reviews, tech reviews coming from London England and, if you're, finding me for the first time, that probably means you didn't see my first video, the gt2 versus the gt2 watch. What is the difference? I'll link that one at the end of this video now that first video got quite a lot of people talking about this watch and a ton of questions came in about the new Huawei gt2 II, so I thought I'd make this video to answer those questions and not just the questions on my video, but also the other gt2 II videos that are out there. So are you ready? Let's go so, let's get a few quickfire questions out of the way? First, can you wear the GT 2e in the shower? Yes, it's 15-meter water-resistant. Can you change the straps? Yes, you can, they unclip, and you can even use the original gt2 straps or even on a magic watch. Straps and I see no reason why you couldn't use pretty much any 22 millimeter watch strap on this. One thing I will say, though, is it, won't sit quite as flush as the original strap, because it's kind of curved around the edges here? Does it have NFC? Unfortunately, not so you can't do Google payments or anything like that with this particular watch.

Does it support third-party apps? No, unfortunately, not so no Google Maps to show you where you are using the GPS onboard, maybe why we will design that own map app soon, and maybe we'll be able to see on that actual watch face where you are on that map. But at the moment you can't do that. Is there an ECM variant of this? What at the moment there isn't, but maybe if enough people asked for it, maybe they'll make one so leave me a comment below. Let me know if you want to see that, and who knows, maybe why wait we'll see those comments? Is this compatible with this driver? App I tried it and no not, yet it's probably just a case of Huawei reaching out for them to get that hooked up. Does the gt2 Eve work with an iPhone? Yes, it does at the moment you can still download the Huawei health app on an iPhone, which means this watch will work perfectly with an iPhone.

So the next few questions now are the ones that probably require the longest answers. So what happens when you receive a phone call, so one of the big differences between this and the original gt2? What is the fact that this watch doesn't have a mic or a speaker built-in? So when you receive a call, it will actually just vibrate on your wrist and alert you, and then you'll only have the option to hang up the call on the watch itself and with that said, you will be able to see who's, calling you and their name will pop up on the watch. If you don't want to speak to them that buttons right there, if you do want to speak to them, you're going to have to get your phone and, if you're worried about missing phone calls due to the lack of a built-in speaker, don't be, the vibration on your wrist is unmissable, and you can turn the power up. If it's not strong enough now you might be thinking what would happen. If you have these connected to a pair of earbuds and a phone call comes in the same thing applies, you can only decline the call on the what, if you pick up the call, it will pick it up on your phone, and you won't be able to hear them through your earbuds unless you switch a Bluetooth on your phone to the earbuds.

But, to be honest, is probably just easier to pick your phone up now. I know some of you asked. Can you make calls from the watch itself? Unfortunately, not access to your phone book is not available on the gt2 II. However, it will show the names of the contacts as they appear on your phone. If you receive a call or text and on the topic of messages and notifications, I'm happy to say, you can now read the entire text message or entire WhatsApp message or notification when they come through they're, not clipped at the ends like they used to be when the original gt2 came out.

I think this is something that Huawei have patched in their software recently. You might be wondering if you can quickly reply to a message on the watch itself at this point. No, you can't do it. You can simply observe the message on the watch, and they continue the conversation on your phone and I tested out sending emojis and stickers as well to the gt2 II watch and this point the gt2 II won't show them again. I expect Huawei could fix this quite easily with a software update.

So let's hope they do that. It's now on the topic of exercise tracking. Does it have an auto pause feature for cycling or running? So, if you stop mid-exercise, will it stop with you? Yes, it will sort of in the workout settings it has an auto, detect workouts. This will prompt you to start and stop tracking those workouts automatically and according to the watch itself, it supports walking, running elliptical and rowing, and some of you were wondering about whether it can track altitude whilst running or cycling and stuff, like that, as well as GPS. It can detect your elevation where you are, and it will also keep track of that.

So it's not just footsteps and distance and location. It can track elevation as well. When it comes to lap tracking it has it, you can actually set the GT to e to alert you with certain things. Like your goal, you can set reminders, so it can alert you every one kilometer in intervals, if you want, and that will be in the form of vibration on your wrist as well as that, you can set a training effect here as well, and you can also set up a heart rate zones. So if you want to stay within a safe zone with your heart rate, you can do that you can set up custom ones as well.

One of the questions that popped up quite a few times was: can you connect this to an external heart rate monitor and the answer to that is no not directly, but with that said, the Huawei health app can indeed connect to third-party trackers, such as the Sabra sport pulse, the into smart belt and polar h7 heart rate monitor, but it won't connect directly to the watch itself at the moment that feature isn't present. But who knows, maybe that will come later on now I'm aware of some of you are wondering about the always-on displays within the settings they're actually called standby watch faces and, yes, they are available, but be warned according to the watch as soon as you set one of these, it will have the battery life. So my advice to you on this one is, if you have a gt2 E or if you're thinking about getting one, ask yourself what is more annoying for you running out of battery more quickly or having to raise your wrist to tell the time I personally. Have it switched off all the time because a Smartwatch without power becomes pretty stupid, but anyway just so you know, there are four watch faces here that you can choose from, and the digital and the analog ones. You can customize a bit and there are three different colors.

You can set this sort of accent, color to red, green and white, and now that is set, and I'll show you what it looks like. So a question that popped up quite a few times was how many watch faces are available on the watch and I counted them today is actually a hundred and sixteen watch faces, and some really cool ones, and this one here that I'm using is actually called Jing pan. If you're wondering now a little ninja tip here, for you guys is how to create your own custom watch face and honestly is super easy to do so. All you do is come into the Huawei health app and go to watch faces here. Then here you will see the gallery of all the watch faces that are available.

What you want to do here is go to mine. Then you've got gallery watch face, you choose that and what you can do here is created your own watch faces, so I created a couple already, but I'll show you how to create a new one. So here you go to the plus icon. You go to your gallery here. Allow that go to gallery here, go to your photos, and you can choose any watch face you.

One I just want to choose something a bit cooler than this, because these are photos from my camera comparison. Let's choose this Wolverine or even this one, the Silver Surfer go to that. We can actually then expand the size. If we want to like that, hit the tick up here, then what you can actually do is adjust the style as well. So you can change the style of numbers that are shown on the watch.

I like that one, and you can change the layout, so you can move it to the top. If you want or the bottom that's pretty cool. So it's really easy to do that on this watch and if we hit save that sends it immediately to the watch and there we go. We've got a Silver Surfer. Their custom watch face on the watch.

I really like this Wolverine picture, so I'm gonna, try and use this as a watch face so check that out it's pretty awesome, you don't want to be like everyone else. Do you now? One of the things I just realized about the custom watch faces is they'll actually alternate on their own. So if you load up a bunch of different ones here, it will alternate between those. So when it comes to playing back music using the gt2 II watch, I heard some people say you can only do it. If you have your phone, that is not true.

You can actually use the watch as a mp3 player on its own, so I've loaded, some tracks here, and I can play those independently directly to the earbuds without the need of a phone. Then, if you want to have streaming services, you can't put them directly on the watch, but what you can do is have them on your phone and control the tracks using this as like a remote control for your phone, so you can pause, you can play you can skip forward. You can skip back. You can't do playlists from this control, though unfortunately yeah, but you can adjust volume and stuff like that. So a couple of things I just want to talk about because I've been using this watch for quite a while now, since I made that first video in fact there are loads of really cool and useful information here that it picks up, you can go to your exercise and your workouts, and you can see your pace, your charts details.

Everything is here, then one of the things that's really, really cool about this and I, don't use it as much as I. Should it's the sleep tracking, so within the sleep tracking, it gives you so much information about how to sleep better. It's really detailed for me, though. I just get a little claustrophobic wearing watch, while I'm sleeping, but I think for some of you guys out. There would be very, very useful, and one thing I feel like I should talk about.

Is the battery life while I say 14-day batteries, and I'll be very, very honest with you here the last time I charged. This watch is a distant memory. I can't even remember when I last charged it, and that is a good thing. I honestly feel like that statement.14 day battery life is not an overstatement. It's for real, and honestly it's one of the best things about this watch.

If you need something, that's more advanced that connects to your bank account and all this kind of stuff, and you want to play games on your watch and all this kind of things. This isn't what you're looking for this is really laser focused on fitness, tracking and telling the time, and sometimes using it as a mp3 player. That is what it does, and it's really, really good at it, and you might have noticed I'm using a Huawei, P 40 Pro here. If you want to know how I'm living without Google Apps on this device, I might make a video about it if I get enough requests, let me know, and if you want to check out that first video I made on the GT to eat that thumbnails on the screen right now. If you want to check out the p40 pro or the Huawei free buzz free, those thumbnails are on screen right now and if you just subscribed you're now one of the finest subscribers known to man I'll see you in the next one don't be.
