HTC U12 Plus Unboxing: NOW IS The Time To Review!

Hey everybody- this is Erica the technology nerd who likes to film step and write here before me is the HTC u12 plus I've actually had this phone for quite some time now, but I've held off on reviewing it because I was not able to test some things properly. So my review unit right here that I got from HTC is kind of a mishmash of hardware and firmware that are not quite meant for each other, which kind of cause some things to not work properly and some things to break. But now I have an actual retail unit, and at the end of next week, HTC told me that they're going to be sending out an update for the US, a that improves the button and also the edge Sense experience. So this seems like the right time to actually review this phone. So let's go ahead and unbox it. So, let's slice our open, ready, plastic off, tossing it.

Who knows where and let's lift the lid. So this is the translucent blue unit and I really love how this looks. Let's go ahead and pull off the plastic. Maybe it'll slide right out. Maybe I always get in a fight with these things.

Oh, my word. Okay. Here we go so when you look at this, you can see some internal components of the phone, although this part from what I can tell is just decorative, but you can see things like the NFC coil underneath here and also a connector. Now we can also see a ribbon cable there. So this really does look fancy.

This is my favorite color of this phone now. The first thing that you're going to notice on the front of course, is that there is no notch and a lot of people are going to be quite happy about that. It's a six-inch display LCD, and I'm, still happy with LCD type phones, I, really like my iPhones, for example, so we're gonna. Let that turn on, and we'll see what else is in the box. So we've got an adapter here we have our USB-C, cable and I noticed that this kind of smells its kind of a leathery smell.

When opening this box. For some reason, I, like it, I've, got some earbud extras, and then we've got the headset now, as you all know. By now this does not have a headphone jack and also doesn't include an adapter in the box. So this is what you got. So don't lose these unless you intend to buy the adapter here, and then we also have a case which is really nice now you'll notice that on this case, it's not actually protective to the sides.

That's because edge sense needs to work and when you put certain cases on these phones, edge sense isn't sensed. So this case here is more or less going to protect the edges and also the glass on the back. Although this is nice and open here, ? I prefer the case off though it just looks so nice without anything on it and then. Lastly, we've got some documentation and a sim ejection tool. So that is the unboxing experience.

So now I've got this all set up, and I want to use this as my daily driver as I'm waiting for that update for the buttons and also the edge sense, and then I'm going to use it for a little after that ? to see if I can really sense the difference and, of course, I'm going to report back to you and that's when I want to actually review this I want to give it a chance. What I'm, hoping is that that update makes all the difference. I can tell you guys that I'm already experiencing some phantom button issues such as, if I'm, trying to just hold the phone, if I touch right here, sometimes it'll turn on without actually even pressing it. So it's just kind of finicky I know a lot of people who actually bought this phone, don't mind these pressure sensitive buttons, but they really do need some improvement and, of course, I'm sure. You guys know that this pressure, sensitive method that they're using with this haptic feedback, is not new.

We've seen this with the iPhone, such as with the home button, the MacBook trackpads, and then we've got things such as the galaxy s 9, where we have the in display pres sable home button here. So this button and haptic feedback combo can be quite excellent and fully your senses really well, if it's done right, so I'm, just really hoping the update makes all the difference, because otherwise this is a perfect phone. So before wrapping up this video I just want to give some of my thoughts on this phone, because it did use this review unit for a little of time, not too long but enough to have a little of impressions. So the first thing that I loved with the HTC, the new 12 plus, is this camera. The camera is absolutely fantastic.

I went down to Seattle and took several test photos. It can really capture a lot of shadow detail where the other ones just weren't able to beat it. Also, the portrait mode has been awesome as well, and I was able to take a family photo for my sister-in-law. That was good enough to print. She was able to print it and also put it on a mug, so this is a very proficient camera in my small testing that I've done.

This phone is also really fast with a snapdragon 845 SOC. What can you expect, besides, that? It's got a beautiful screen without that notch, this phone is also water resistant, which is why supposedly they've done the buttons this way- and it just looks absolutely stunning with that see-through back. So this is all that I really want to say for now. I want to give this a chance test. It out wait for that update, I'll! Let you guys know if there's been enough of an improvement.

Hopefully that will make all the difference. So this has been Erica the technology nerd likes to film stuff. Please rate comment subscribe hit that notification bell, so you can be notified when this video goes up and have a good day. You guys bye.
