Google Pixel XL Camera Review

Hey guys its saga from tech bugs, and I've got a lot of Google Pixel excel coverage coming your way, I've had this phone for a few days and the full review is on its way. But in this video we are taking a look at the camera of this phone. I have again been traveling a lot since I got it, and now I have a pretty good collection of the images short with this camera. For this video, as always, let's start by getting the specs out of the way. The main star of the show is a twelve point. Three megapixel sensor with F 2.0 aperture, face detection and laser autofocus electronic stabilization and a dual LED flash at the front is the eight megapixel sensor with F 2.4 aperture, and it can take full HD 1080p videos before we get to the images and video samples. Let us take a quick look at the ways to get to the camera and the actual interface of the camera app itself to get to the camera app like on most Android devices.

You can swipe up from the bottom right of the lock screen, use the camera icon on the home screen and the best and the fastest way of all is to just double press the power button to get to it once you are in the Google camera app, the user interface is pretty simple. You have the image gallery above or on the right side of the shutter button, depending on how you are holding the phone and the toggle to switch to the front camera, because the shutter button swiping to the left, gets you into the video mode. There are various other modes as well, which haven't really changed since the Nexus 6p. What you won't find is the pro or manual mode in the native camera. You will need a third-party camera app if you want to take full manual controls over all your camera settings.

DXO mach has given this camera the best ever score of 89, which is above the Samsung's Galaxy S7 edge and Apple's f17, but, like the benchmark scores, this one is just another number for testing out its real-life performance. Let us take a look at the images and video samples that I took with it. The colors sharpness and the clarity of this camera is just amazing. I have left the camera on auto mode and had the auto HDR mode turned on as well. This way you get the best results in almost any lighting conditions.

The images captured have great colors, sharpness, dynamic range, an incredible amount of detail in them. Here we have a few examples with and without ? they are more turned on compared side-by-side. Just look at how well the HDR plus more brings up the shadows, preserves the highlights and makes the overall image look so much better. The images taken with the HDR plus mode turned on take a bit longer to process, but it is still faster when compared to the Nexus, 6p and I prefer leaving it on the entire time. The close-up shots are also super crisp and thanks to the F 2.2 aperture, you get a very nice shallow depth of field. The infamous lens flare ring appears in some shots, but not all, which is a very good thing.

This is one of my most favorite shots. The Sun was just about to set, and the dynamic range captured by this camera is just mind-blowing as we get indoors in lower or artificial lighting situations. Images from this phone still manage to hold the quality and clarity, even in extremely lower lighting situations. The noise levels are lower than many of the smartphones in the market right now, and the images still look good and not someone who takes a lot of selfies, but the clarity and the dynamic range of the front-facing camera is just as good as the rear-facing one coming to the video performance. This camera can shoot videos in up to 4k resolution and even though there is no optical image, stabilization Google has managed to tie up the electronic stabilization with the gyroscope, which helps give you one of the most stable video that has seen from any smartphone.

So with all these images and video samples, it is very clear that the pixel Excel has a really amazing camera, but without comparing it to the rest of flagships like the s7 edge and the iPhone 7 plus I, can't really say. If it is the best in the market right now very soon, I'll be comparing this camera with a lot of other smartphones, so make sure you have subscribed to the channel and have the notifications turned on. This is the like button. If you enjoyed this video, you can also check out some other videos on this channel. This has been saga and I'll catch.

You guys in the next video take care.
