Google Pixel 5 Vs Samsung Galaxy S10! (Comparison) (Review)

Welcome back everyone time to do another comparison, this time around between the Google Pixel 5 and the Samsung Galaxy s10. Now I'm going to go ahead and adjust this camera because it's an awful angle: okay, that's so much better! So on the Samsung Galaxy s10, this thing came out not recently it came out a while ago, but I still found it to be a great phone. Even now in 2020 the later part of 2020. I think it's still a perfect pickup. The Google Pixel 5 just came out. This one is retailing for 6.99 brand new, the Samsung Galaxy s10. You can actually pick up in a lot of places for less than 500 dollars, so let's go and see which one is a better deal now.

First, starting off with the front the Samsung Galaxy s10 has a six-inch dynamic, AMOLED screen it's 1440p, and I always said this. I think it always looked like a perfect panel. It looks perfect. You have a bunch display on it, so it doesn't look bad at all. It looks it has very little bezel on it.

Inbuilt fingerprint sensor in the display- and I mean when you look at it- it looks like a perfect panel. I still find it hard to believe that Samsung made it even better with the galaxy s20, because I was looking at it last year, and I was like how much better can Samsung go and that 120 hertz refresh rate really helped out this phone for sure, whereas on the Google Pixel 5, on the other hand, has that six inch OLED panel, this one is a 90 hertz panel, so definitely not as crazy as something like a galaxy s20, but definitely better than the Galaxy S10 in terms of the refresh panel. But the thing you have to keep in mind is that with the pixel 5, it isn't as good of a panel, I would say, as the s10, but you do have the 90 hertz refresh rate, which I find better. It's a little smaller of a panel, but it's still perfect. It's 1080p.

Furthermore, it's not 1440p like the Galaxy S10, but I still think the pixel 5 has a pretty good panel too. I just don't know which one is necessarily the better one side by side. You can see that the Galaxy S10 is pretty much a little bigger. You know in every dimension, it seems thinner in the hand, though, when I sold side by side, I kind of feel like the Galaxy S10 may be a little of a know. They both feel kind of the same in the hand.

That's basically how I would put it on the bottom. USB type-c ports on both and the Galaxy S10 has a headphone jack, which is really random, but really cool, and on the back, you can see a glass back on the Galaxy S10, but an aluminum back on the pixel 5. You have a dual camera setup on the pixel 5, as well as a fingerprint sensor. The Galaxy S10 has a triple camera setup, which I think is actually perfect, and you know it might actually be better than the pixel 5 we'll get into in a second. But in terms of the build quality, I think the Galaxy S10 feels like a perfect premium phone, but I think the pixel 5 you know also feels good for the most part, but the Galaxy S10, I think, is the better built phone for sure you're, also getting a micro SD card slot on the Samsung Galaxy s10, where you don't really get that on the pixel 5.

Software. Wise, though I mean there are some differences here too, we both have android 11 kinds of we're on like a beta on the one UI 3, but pretty much. These both are getting android 11, the pixel 5 already has it, but the pixel 5 is probably going to be lasting longer than the Samsung Galaxy s10 and software is probably one of the galaxy s10s the biggest disadvantages. In my opinion, I always felt like Samsung dropped the ball there, especially with one UI. I like stock android and the custom ROM capability on the pixel devices, so the Google Pixel 5 may actually be the winner here in the software department, but the Galaxy S10 is still going to be getting at least like another.

Two versions of software, which is really cool so in terms of software- that really pretty much covers that up now I'll go ahead and do a little of a speed test between these two phones. The Google Pixel 5 has that Qualcomm snapdragon 765 g chipset, an arena 620 GPU and eight gigs of ram on the only model. That's supported with Samsung Galaxy s10, on the other hand, has a Qualcomm snapdragon, 855 chipsets, an outscore CPU, an arena 640 GPU and eight pegs of ram on both models that are supported. So, let's go and see which one is the faster one between both of these okay. Let me go and clear all the apps in the background, which should only take like two seconds on the pixel devices, though I guess I have to swipe out of every single one which is weird you know on the Galaxy S10, we didn't have to do that.

So I guess we have to do it here. Okay, all apps are clear. Let's start loading them up. Let's do the phone calls three two one about the same there scrolling out, you can see they are about the same as well and a big difference messages. I think the pixel 5 was a little slower than the Galaxy S10 actually play store, 321, and I think the Galaxy S10 a little faster than the pixel 5 right there scrolling through you can see that about the same, not a ginormous difference.

The Galaxy S10, I think, was speeding by those games or those apps, and I guess the pixel 5 is pretty good too. Now we have a bunch of these third-party apps as expected. Let's start loading them up. Let's do twitter three two one and the Galaxy S10 is a faster one. There snake versus blocks three two one, the pixel 5, I think, was just slightly faster there, but very, very close, indeed gameplay wise they're going to be about the same as well.

I don't think there's going to be a ginormous difference, but definitely right there. The pixel 5 was a little faster, Snapchat 3-2-1. I think the Galaxy S10 was faster there too, BFA 3-2-1 and the Galaxy S10 again is the faster one, followed by the pixel five shortly after there again Quizlet three two one Samsung Galaxy s10 again is the faster one. We do. Thank you three.

Two one and again the Galaxy S10 is the faster one, I'm already kind of seeing a trend where the Galaxy S10 may actually be slightly faster than the pixel 5. Gameplay-wise. They look about the same too. So not a ginormous difference there. You do pay priority, two three two one now this is a very interesting game, because on a lot of the apps that I've tested on all my devices, this game usually glitches up the most, and even when I clicked on the thing.

At the same time, the Galaxy S10 was a little faster. So I just ended the game myself there, and I don't know if one is necessarily the winner. They both look kind of the same. It's really hard to play both these games. They both look kind of the same.

If I'm being honest, I don't think one was inherently way faster than the other one. We can go and end it off with the real racing. Three two one. So let's go and see which one is the faster one, but I can probably already tell you the pixel 5 animation wise, I think, are smoother, but I think the Galaxy S10 may actually be the faster device in this case, I'm probably wrong. As you can see, the pixel 5 was the faster one.

The Galaxy S10 a little behind it, but even then it wasn't a crazy big difference. They both were actually very, very close to one another, which is something I'm actually really surprised about, and even loading up these other apps you'll be able to see that basically, they load up around the same time. You know I don't really think there's a crazy big difference in terms of like this kind of basic apps, but I'm actually really surprised about the speed of the Galaxy S10. Still you know it's not even that new a phone. You know it came out over a year ago, and I think it's really impressive what Samsung was able to do with this device, but I also think the pixel device is really fast too.

I mean this phone was the flagship of last year and this one isn't necessarily the flagship, it's kind of like a budget phone. But if you think about it back in the day the pixel lineup was a pretty. You know expensive phone lineup and now the only model that you know google has made is the pixel 5, no XL version. So I think when it comes down to the performance, the Samsung Galaxy s10 is maybe the faster one, but there were times when the Google Pixel 5 was also an extremely fast performing device too. So I don't think one is way faster than the other one, but the pixel 5 may be the one there.

So in terms of performance that pretty much covers it up, I'll, go and hit on the cameras between them. The Samsung Galaxy s10, like I said it, has a triple camera setup, a 12, megapixel, wide angle, lens 12, megapixel, telephoto and then a 16 megapixel ultrawide sensor with a Google Pixel 5 has a 12.2, megapixel, wide angle lens. Then a 16 megapixel ultrawide sensor. Now between the software experience on both they both are kind of around the same thing. As you can see, there's really not one that you know blows the other one out of the water in this sense, but I feel like there are still way more features on the Samsung Galaxy s10 camera that came out a year ago than on the Google Pixel 5, and this is a perfect example of that.

Look. How many more features we have on something like the Galaxy S10. We have pro mode. We have even pro video mode on this phone as well. If I was updated to one UI 2.5, and that is something that is really important for me to note the videos and everything I mean you can do 4k 60 on both, which is great, but I actually like the Galaxy S10 camera just even based off this. There are more features on something like a Samsung Galaxy s10 than on a Google Pixel 5 camerae.

So that is something that's very important to note. Now on the Galaxy S10 as expected that telephoto lens is really nice, you can zoom in a lot into a photo. You can also zoom out of a photo quite a bit too because of that ultra white sensor and if you're taking you know, really up close photos, and you want a little of a different effect. It's really cool to have that capability of having that white sensor, or even that telephoto lens. There's a lot of capability in this specific camera.

There's the portrait mode, there's the 4k at 60. If you've ever wanted to do it, and you have a 10 megapixel front facing camera that you can do 4k at 60 frames per second on this phone. So again it just adds a little more character to this device by having that type of capability and being that good of a performing camera, I mean this is a tremendous performing camera on this device. Even though it's over a year old, I think still think it holds up extremely well and the Google Pixel 5 you know for it being a 699 brand, new phone kind of a flagship from Google. I think it's actually a pretty good camera too.

Google does a lot of you know optimizations in the software, and because of that they do a lot of software enhancements, and that's one thing that you know the Google Pixel 5 is really, really good at. Basically, if you go- and you know want to take a photo, whatever google will with the software in the back end can go ahead and make the camera look that much better, and that is something that's really cool. Now, if it's up to you, I mean you may not even care about it, but with that and the ultrawide sensor. That is something that makes the pixel 5 a perfect camera. I wouldn't necessarily say it's the best camera and I wouldn't even say it's better than the Galaxy S10 and maybe the Galaxy S10 is a little weirder in a way because of like the amount of features it has inside it.

If that's a bad thing, but maybe the pixel 5 has better looking photos, but I think the Galaxy S10 has better capability, I think for the sensors. It has so in terms of the camera that pretty much covers it up now, ending it off with the battery life. The Google Pixel 5 has a 4080mah battery. The Samsung Galaxy s10 has a 3 400 million bar battery, and in this case I don't know again which one is the firm. You know better battery life, maybe the pixel 5 is the better battery life at the end of the day, and actually, I would probably say that, but the only thing that's making me a little hesitant is because of that 90 hertz refresh rate, depending if it's always on and always being used that can take a decent toll on the battery life.

It's not going to make or break you, but that is something to keep in mind. I think the galaxy s10s battery life is very good for the most part it can handle everything you throw at it and again, it's just another asset of this device. So to kind of sum up this video and say answer the question: should you pick up the pixel 5? Should you pick up the Galaxy S10? Let me tell you some pros and cons as to why you may want to pick up the Galaxy S10. Still it's great to build quality. This phone looks perfect.

This display on this thing looks perfect as well. I mean it looks beautiful. It's probably still one of the best panels out you can buy the camera setup on this thing is perfect, and I would think it's better than the pixel 5. You have expandable storage on this thing, so you can increase the memory of it. You have a headphone jack.

Furthermore, you know if you want to use that you have a 512 gigabyte variant of this phone. For some reason, if you want to go up to there, you have software support still, you know you can always put a custom launcher on it, and it's technically cheaper in the used market than a Google Pixel 5, and that's a huge thing too. You know: do you want to pick up a brand-new phone, a used phone if you're, okay, with picking up a used phone, the Galaxy S10 may be a perfect way to go, but with the pixel 5, there's still a lot. You know of capability here, you're, getting a really nice screen. Still with that 90 hertz refresh rate, which is something the Galaxy S10 doesn't have, and that's probably one of the biggest assets, I would say for the Google Pixel 5.

You're, getting an spotless version of software and with something that you're constantly. You know messing with every single day in and day out, having a good clean software is something that's huge for a specific phone like this. Now, on top of that software longevity, this phone is going to be lasting longer than a Galaxy S10 in terms of software, even after that you're going to have all those custom ROMs that are going to be capable too, and it's another humongous asset for the Google Pixel 5. And in some cases the pixel 5 was faster in other cases, not so much. I think the Galaxy S10 may be the faster device, and I also think battery life may be better on the Google Pixel 5 as well.

So those are just some ways that would kind of sum up this comparison. You know some pros and cons if I had to pick one up, it's just hard to say, because they both have their pros and cons. You know where one phone kind of lacks in the other phone kind of you know, picks up, and I would probably pick up the Galaxy S10 and throw a custom launcher on it and then kind of go from there, but I still think the pixel 5 is a very good phone too.
