$37 Android Phone From Wish - How Bad Is It? Review and Teardown

What's going on guys the CTA Prime back here again today, we're going to be taking a look at a $37 Android phone that I purchased on wish calm. Now this isn't my first time purchasing something on wish calm. This is actually my fourth time purchasing something, but my second time actually receiving it. The last item I received from wish calm was a little handheld retro gaming console and I did a video on it. It was pretty crappy, but I expected it. It was $26 and to tell you the truth, I'm not expecting much from this $37 android phone, and before we get into it.

I do want to show you the listing, and we'll go over the supposed specs that I was sold all right. So here we are at the listing mate 36 pro 5.8-inch screen four gigs 64 gigs, eight core eight megapixel front camera, 16 megapixel rear face ID, fingerprint unlock yeah $37, so specifications mate, 36 pro offers it in a few different colors I got the green version.5.8 inch display 1280 by 23 20 MediaTek, 67, 99, Decca, core CPU, Android 9.1, four gigs of ram 64 gigabytes of internal storage and a four thousand William hour battery. They clean face unlocked fingerprint unlock the best price here. Good quality I mean if I got anything close to what they're stating I think it's a pretty decent deal. So now it's time to see what we really got here.

The box is listed, mate, 36, Pro, surprisingly enough, they did get the color correct, I ordered the green one, there's also a purple and blue. There might be some other colors either way they got this one right. It's got some protectors on the back of the phone itself is pretty chunky. It's definitely heavy, so before we really get started here. I do want to mention that I didn't buy this to use this as my every day whoa.

Okay, so yeah I bought this on a whim, because I saw a $37 Android phone with the 10 core processor. Now I'm, not a big fan of media attack. But if we get anything close, it is worth it especially for emulation on the go. We also got some cheap, headphones micro, USB charging, cable, there's no charger brick, but they did include a little jelly case. I figured this little round thing would be an inspection ticket, but there's no writing on it whatsoever.

Let's go ahead and see if we got any battery in this thing. Hopefully it even turns on, and it's definitely one of the ugliest welcome screens I've ever seen, and I'll tell you right now, just by looking at this screen. It is not the claim to resolution. This is a much lower resolution screen here. I can see all the pixels it might take a little while for this thing to boot up.

So there were a couple notifications that popped up on screen and this is not running android 9.1 I can tell you right now, just by the notification bar and the unlock screen, I'm pretty sure it's running, Android, 4.4 I thought about signing in with a Google account to the Google Play Store, but I'm not going to do it. This is running a very old version of Android, and I'm, not sure, what's preloaded in the background, this is for sure Android 4.4. Just by that notification there we'll go into settings and yeah. That's what an old version of Android looks like we'll go to about phone, and it's saying that it is running android 9.1, the processor 8 core, and they even have the PI logo, which looks a little bootleg to me and doesn't look right. So it's true what they say you get what you pay for just open up the camera.

Here they say this thing has faced unlock and fingerprint sensor, but it does not. The face unlock will work if you point it at a wall. So instead of signing in to the Google Play Store to download I 264 I just got it online installed, the APK will go to our android version, android 4.4.2 and there's no security patch here, because those weren't listed back in the day when Android 4.4 was around its stating there is a fingerprint sensor, but I'm sure all of this information is faked system. I'll, get that add there, and we got 512 megabytes of RAM, not even one gig. In this thing, on the page it stated eight gigs I was expecting at least one gig here, 512 megabytes, and now I'm pretty sure it doesn't have that X 27 10, core MediaTek CPU, we'll see what it has here.

An older dual-core, 1 gigahertz CPU MediaTek 6572 2 cores at 1 gigahertz. This is a super low-end chip, I'm surprised the phone even booted up we'll go back and check out the screen and GPU 480 by 960 Wow, it's not as bad as I thought it was, but it has the Mallet 400 MP GPU. This is a single core, male GPU. This thing won't even get out of its own way. So this is a long shot here, but let's check for a system update I doubt you'll ever get one.

On this thing, Wireless update at least it's listed here. Detection of update, no updates found so yeah. Like I said you get what you pay for. I wasn't expecting what was listed, but I also wasn't expecting such a high-end phone I figured. It would be a low-end quad-core CPU, with one gig of ram.

Unfortunately, they really got me on this. One I'm going to go ahead and power it off see. If we can pull this back off, I need to grab some tools. Because I do want to tear this thing apart, real quick, you know what I don't even need any tools. I'm, just going to tear this back off.

It's got a removable battery, it does have your SIM card tray and an SD card slot, and it looks like it's held together with hex screws. This thing is just super cheap I, wonder if it's even got four cameras built-in I seriously doubt if I think it's just a single camera setup. So, instead of grabbing anything I'm going to go ahead and see. If I can get this thing apart. Wow, it's got a glass front cover on it.

I was not expecting that I figured. It was plastic. This assembly on the mate 36 Pro, is super easy. All you got to do is kind of crunch it around and just because I'm here I do want to pull this little heat shield off, because it could have tricked I 264 and only have like a little single core CPU in here nope. It looks like I.

The 64 was correct: MediaTek 6572, dual-core arm CPU. This is an arm. Seven CPU at 1, gigahertz and, like I, thought, there's only really a single camera in here the lens looks like there's four, and they do state that there's four cameras built-in, but it's just a single if I had to guess a 2.1 megapixel camera. So that's it for this video guys. I really appreciate you watching.

Buyer! Beware: when you're picking up something on wish now, I knew that going into this, but I didn't expect something this bad. So if you've been thinking about picking up one of these phones off wish calm or something that looks similar, don't do it. This is one of the worst phones that I've ever seen.
