Hello, ladies and gentlemen, from around the world today's the day when we see for the first time, which is not the first time at all, because this is one once again, one of the most leaked phones ever well, but where we find out a little more information about the pixel 5 and the Pixel 4a 5g. It also scales up. So it's the bigger of the two devices, the most powerful or the highest end pixel is actually going to be a little smaller this time around. So that's kind of an interesting choice.

Uh, of course we're we're interested in checking out the camera. Here we know google's going to talk about it. A little- probably maybe they've done some exciting stuff in the software. They're, always goofing with the software that that that Google company right there Argos the Argos they're, always goofing around, and we appreciate them goofing around. We get to enjoy the outcome of their goofing around in the best way possible.

Of course, now before the official thing starts here, which uh it starts in about well 10 minutes time likely, we have a special package in the meantime from Google: hey, hey, here's, some fun stuff for the event. Well, maybe if you wanted to save a hundred bucks here in the SE territory at 3.99 yeah, however, we're also starting to set our sites on that next iPhone. The iPhone 12 mini, maybe 6.99, something like that. So, probably a little more than this, so there's so many options at different price points, and it's a mean the customer wins.

Yes, if we're being honest to have these uh selections, these various options at different price points, but head on the pixel, is going to be taken on OnePlus and the more inexpensive Samsung devices because, of course, Apple is sort of in its own universe. That was an experience. Is what I'll say that that was a real experience. I think I'm going to leave it there. Actually, okay, yeah, so uh, one interesting thing: google seems to be making a big deal of this texture on the pixel 5. Look at the thing it's kind of like a sandy gritty, yeah and the rumor originally was that it was going to be a plastic device, but then they started to say: oh no, it's going to be made out of aluminum, potentially something metallic, and then all the pictures and leaks start to come out with this granular speckled look which covered the entire back of the device, including the fingerprint scanner.

Now, if you look at this image, that will have on a display right now, and you look at the number five- they even made so much of a deal of it to put the speckling into the five number. Why is it such a big deal? What are they going to say about this grip or material? Is it some proprietary new thing, or maybe it's just styling, maybe they're just it's. They think it's a cool style in there. That might be all it is, but it's a first, I think for them, and they appear to be quite happy about it. What are you uh most excited for? Well, obviously, with the pixel products, it's going to be software.

I think for me, are they gonna? Are they going to showcase, any new funky software stuff, because well, after all, Google is a software company right? After all, they kind of reluctantly got into hardware eventually they're, the android company and pixel has always been well prior to pixel, even with the nexus stuff. Uh pixel has been the, maybe not necessarily the hardware flagship, but it has always been the software flagship for Google, it's what they're good at yes, and so this is where you would see the operating system, the android operating system, the way that Google intended first and foremost- and so I want to see if there's any kind of new features or optimizations, that they've done maybe even pulling inspiration from elsewhere. Some of the things I mean some of the stuff in one UI that I like, like one hint, the one-handed stuff, with pulling down anywhere on the screen on larger devices, uh, of course, the camera performance did they play, have they played around with night mode at all, can it do even more with multiple exposures? It's all there 's's a number of questions, but the majority of them live inside the software stuff, because they've made a strategic decision to move away from the spec race, they're not going to come out here with this event and all of a sudden surprise us with the snapdragon 865 devices, it's not an option for you right now from Google you're. They just are like the flagship thing is over. We don't care about it, and so for me, I'm curious about the software and also the pricing structure.

When you factor in the 4a 5g, they stay, they say starting at 499, but how do they map that out? Is that going to be the 4a5 g of 4.99, and then we're going to pay a little more for the actual pixel 5. ? This is my curiosity and also availability, because there's been we're kind of curious about how soon people are actually going to get this thing, and so I think availability is another question and availability in different regions. So that's been another thing. People have been curious about, particularly you know. We have uh a lot of people watching from around the world, and they're, probably wondering okay.

What is the scope of this particular release? Are we gonna? Have it uh globally, all at once, or is it going to roll out in North America first and then elsewhere later, I'm curious about that as well. It's all gonna, of course, we're going to find out and now just about three minutes yeah coming soon, maybe like a XL version too right. Oh, a 5xl yeah no see if they were going to do a 5xl. How do they do the placeholder page that you were just showing? Oh right, I'm uh, because over there, when you read the description, they just say coming soon, the five and the four a5g, and also will I'm going to go a little inside baseball on you. Okay, we've been doing the later case for the upcoming pixel devices yeah, and we've only got the molds for the pixel 5 and the 4a5g.

So I'll, just I'm I'm fairly certain. Will that we're going to see only two models. Today is what I'm saying: okay, based on that knowledge, the show's about to start.

I would usually look within all my different apps to figure out what should I watch, but with Google TV I'll see a row of tailored recommendations from across all my favorite streaming subscriptions all in one place, making it way faster to find something to watch.

How many times has it happened to you that someone tells you about a great movie to watch or a great show to watch, and you're on the street, and you want to remember the name, but you've forgotten it by the time you've gotten home happens to me all the time. Another great feature that we bought to google TV is a watch list which gives you one easy place to bookmark movies and shows that you want to save for later. You can even add to your watch list from your phone or your laptop, and it'll be waiting for you on your TV. When you get home with YouTube TV fully integrated, you need never miss live events. Music. I like the combo, that you are, you're, you're, a bad boy. It's the same thing: either you're really chill right or you need a little of energy. I love that. Not only I wonder if it has a battery in it.

You're passionate about music but if it's just wired activity goes far beyond that. So when you're in your process, you're creating um, how does the actual artist play into the way that you produce the music for them? You're, just always trying to make everything tailor-made perfectly to that artist? So, if you're in the studio it doesn't matter if it's Amy, wine house or ghost face killer or every time you say ghost face killer, it makes me smile because I can just think, like so many great songs, I'm just always looking for that great vocal or that performance that sort of makes. The way that I intended them.

Some people think that to get all the benefits of 5g at an affordable price, there needs to be a compromise on some of our core features like camera, but that's not true. Pixel 5 and pixel 4 a5g share the same front and rear camera system, and it's our best one. Yet, starting with the hardware, we've put a new ultra-wide lens on the back and HDR plus has received a serious upgrade mixing google novel techniques with traditional HDR techniques like exposure bracketing to help you take even clearer sharper photos, the new ultra-wide lens on the back lets you capture more of the scene in both your photos. Oh, they film that on a pixel, they're filming this presentation, landscape or family, get together the ultra-wide lens ensures you get it all. Users love taking photos with beautiful background blurs, but this is challenging to do in super low light conditions.

So we've added night sight to our portrait mode for those evening strolls or backyard s'mores. This combination allows the subject in the foreground to stand out even in low light. The funny thing is backyard. S'mores is our use case, so my kids love making s'mores. We have not been able to camp this year, and so we've been doing them in the backyard camping outside and making s'mores on our gas fireplace, and we're able to take portrait shots of them with the background blurred with the fire, just adding oranges to that background and them popping with their s'more on their stick, it's pretty exciting.

We improve portrait mode with a new feature. Furthermore, we call portrait light. Furthermore, we know you can't always get good lighting. That's why, with portrait light, you can illuminate your portraits, even when you're backlit against a beautiful sunset or have a harsh shadow on your face from the bright sun above you, because we use AI to solve this problem, you can even apply this lighting effect in the newly redesigned. Google photos editor to a portrait you took five years ago.

One other thing we heard from our users is how much they want to be able to capture beautiful videos. To that end, we've added three new stabilization modes, locked active and cinematic pan. We also noticed that a lot of top YouTube videos for videography are tutorials on exactly this, so we studied the best tips from YouTube, as well as from Hollywood directors, to create cinematic pan lets you make the everyday look like a movie. It creates sweeping dramatic Hollywood effects through stabilizing and slowing down the motion by two acts, and we're also launching extreme battery saver that lets you decide what essential apps you want to keep on. While everything else gets paused it helps you increase your battery life for up to 48 hours when you need it the most with these phones, you get three years of android OS and security updates, and the titan m chip helps to keep your operating system passwords and transactions safe, they've been tested against real world threats to keep everything from your texts to your pictures, secure on your phone, but of all of these features, my favorite feature is hold for me.

Honestly, I really don't like listening to elevator, music or being put on hold for an r. I don't think anybody does. Luckily, our new feature hold for me builds on the smarts of duplex and call screen to help save you time. Google Assistant will wait on hold for you and alert you when someone comes on the line and is ready to speak to your cool. So we know when people buy phones, they really want their phone to last a long time, and they want to make sure that their phone stays up to date and has the latest and greatest and newest features.

So with pixel. We have feature drops that do exactly that, and they're always bringing the latest and newest technology back to your existing pixel as soon as they're, ready, for example, extreme battery saver and hold for me, are going to be coming to older generation pixels very soon, and we think this is great from both a user kind of value perspective, and from a sustainability perspective, but being able to hold on to and use your phone for longer and for those of you who will be purchasing one of our new 5g phones, you'll, be getting even more three months of Stadia pro YouTube premium, 100 gigabytes of storage with Google one and play pass and play points all on us. You can cut the audio from it now, a little more time spent on audio this uh the nest audio speaker, so nest is gonna. Be everything that's in your house, I guess, except for the TV stuff, with the Chromecast you guys watching, are probably mostly interested in the smartphones, pixel 5 and pixel 4 a5g. Of course, they keep selling the Pixel 4a, which will still be the entry-level device, and I think it's still going to continue to be popular, so the 4a is 349. The 4a 5g is 499. These are the starting prices and the pixel 5 is 6.99, which maybe is a little more than I had expected. However, it does add features over the 4a models, including better durability.

You can see they showcase it there with the water leaking over the edge, presumably a slightly nicer construction, wireless charging and reverse wireless charging, and also, of course, it's an option with a different form factor, since it is, I suppose, the flagship, it's kind of strange to call it that, because it's not really a flagship from the standpoint of the processor and so forth, but some of these mid-range processors have gotten so much better that there's a number of customers out there who were sitting there thinking you know, maybe I don't need to be spending a thousand dollars on a smartphone. Maybe I should and especially given, what's going on in the world right now, some you know it's just been: it's been a bit tough and so manufacturers are taking that into consideration in their strategies and maybe that's part of the reason why these devices were so delayed anyway on will's screen here, as you can see, we have the various specifications. The only water resistant model is the pixel 5 all the way at the top end and other than that they do share a number of similarities. Colors are slightly limited, the 4a5g is white or black, and you got to go all the way up to the pixel 5 to pull a slightly more intriguing color, which is this green. Now do they have a name for this green? Maybe not anyway.

There's like a minty, looking green granular sort of green. The website is getting hammered right now by the way, I know will's clicking around a lot, I'm getting a couple of errors, so some people are ordering it. There must be some pre-orders going on the green yeah you're right. They don't tell you the color, the green, we'll search for it right now. It's a nice green screen, size differences.

All right. This is key, so Pixel 4a is going to be 5.8 inches diagonally. Then you have the pixel 5 at 6 inches. Then the 4a 5g is 6.2 inches, it's the biggest of the bunch. The two, the two that were announced today, officially announced today, are going to be 5g capable, whereas the regular 4a is just 4g and resolution is actually the same.

It's 2340x1080 across all of them. That gives you the best pixel density on the smallest model. Surprisingly, so your best pixel density is actually going to be on the 4a at 443 PPI, but whatever it's all in the same kind of territory, the higher end they're, all 90 hertz, are they? Why doesn't it say smooth display on the other ones? Pixel 5 says smooth display to 90 hertz a million to 1 contrast ratio. It says HDR, support 19.5 by nine. Is your aspect ratio battery life, we're looking at 3140 for the Pixel 4a, not a huge battery over there that gets increased substantially on the pixel 5 up to 4080, which is a fairly large battery for a six-inch smartphone.

It's not uh top of the range, but it's in the region. Of course, you would hope that google could make some optimizations seeing as how they were talking in the presentation about this super low power, consumption mode, which is also going to roll out to older models which may help the battery woes of some individuals on older pixel devices and then some in somewhat weird fashion, the largest model. The 4a5g only gets a 3885 William hour battery, so your top. Your biggest battery, comes at the top uh end of the spectrum, even though the top range device is not the biggest device. Other difference is polycarbonate.

Unibody is the way they describe the build on the regular Pixel 4a. The 4a5g is a soft touch, polycarbonate unibody and on the pixel 5 they don't. They just talk about the gorilla glass and the water resistance for material, so is it metal? Is it metallic? Is it what have they done? What is the finish, of course, I'm going to get to the bottom of it when the device arrives, but they are at least listing that it has gorilla glass, 6. , so some more premium materials, certainly on the pixel 5, for your extra money to go with the water resistance, also an increase in ram. So it's going to have eight gigs of ram, whereas the other two models are stuck at six they've all got 128 gigs of storage processors, so I guess some would say that would be the drawback well with these devices, I guess in general.

However, at this price point, that you are, looking at 700 series from Qualcomm, and we did see an improvement in the choice of 700 series compared to the 4a which packed a 730g. Now, both the 4a5g and the pixel 5 are going to utilize the 765g from Qualcomm camera stuff. They didn't tell us too much. They showed a little of the computational uh features the AI stuff, moving the lighting around on that one particular portrait mode. Furthermore, they also mentioned improvements in night mode, which I expected, but you want to know something well, the actual smartphone portion of the presentation was kind of brief yeah.

To be quite honest, they kind of just let's get to it. Let's finally, do this thing that we've been talking about doing for a while right nice putting out this phone quickly. Oh also, the ultra-wide lens, that's a big one. So that's a big change from the 4a. We're going to have an extra lens here and also, I noticed this feature, cinematic pan and dual exposure controls.

Those aren't popping up as features on the 4a, so those are extras that cinematic pan looked a little interesting. Also, I don't know how it functions in real life. Typically, though, when Google has launched some sort of ambitious software feature, we have been surprised at the results, including the initial night mode, which seemed almost magical at the moment. When I really do, I caught you in the bathroom over there and pitch black, I'm like what are you doing in their yeah? What are you doing there in their dude you're, like I'm just tested night mode, uh, the color is sage sorta sage, sage, green, we're also getting stereo speakers on these two models, which is not listed as a feature on the Pixel 4a, and if you get the 4a 5g, you keep the 3.5 mil audio jack. However, you lose that jack.

If you go up to the pixel 5 instead, you're on USB audio through an adapter courses are going to launch with android 11, and they're launching at different times around the world. I saw that there was a said this moment in Japan and this moment in North America- and I don't know- maybe we can find a chart. However, you can pre-order them, I suppose in different markets yeah. I see the pre-order button available for me, I kind of like the sage green that would maybe I maybe might even go for that. I don't normally go for the color, probably not because I would slap a later case on it, and then I want it to match with the black and, as I mentioned to you earlier, these are up for pre-order they're, probably on the site.

Right now, if you're going to pre-order a pixel, you may also want to pre-order an ultra-thin case for it. We've got those at later case. As you can see here, I've already got the prototypes in studio. This shows you the scale of the two models: Pixel 4a 5g and the pixel 5 with the cutouts for that extra cam, camera module, but full coverage, so it will support that ultra-wide. Are they up on the site? They are they're on the site.

Look at that! That is. That's some magic stuff right there I have to have wireless charging. Will I'm a big wireless? I'm wireless charging something right now yeah, so I'm probably going to pick the pixel 5 out of this bunch and then the weird. The weird model for me is the 4a5g. I'm sitting there thinking.

Okay, I get 5g all right, it's a bit bigger and I get the new snapdragon. I get the slightly better snapdragon, but do I want to pay another 150 for that when I can get all? Basically all the same software feature I don't know, are those camera features also going to roll out the software-based ones to the 4a, and they just don't want to say it in the chart right now, because I didn't want to pre-order the next one I don't know, but the 4a is a pretty compelling package at 349 and of course we have to do the conversions wherever you happen to be in the world, it's uh going to determine how much of a value that is for you, but the pixel 5. I really wish it came at 5.99 yeah. I'm sure there's plenty of reasons. Why they selected 6.99 they caught wind, where apple was gonna start, maybe with that iPhone, 12 or maybe apple's going to go even higher uh we'll see just how premium the thing feels they didn't officially say what it's made out of, but at least we got uh. At least we know what the color's called yes sage green.
