Google Pixel 3a XL Unboxing and First Look By Slashdot

Hey, what's up guys beau HD here now, if you're following us on Instagram you've, probably seen our unboxing of the Pixel 3a through our Instagram story in partnership with made by Google, we were able to take a look at the device several days before Google officially launched it well now that the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL have been officially launched. Google sent me my own personal pixel, 3a XL care package that I'm going to unbox for you now in detail. Let's take a look so, as you can see, Google was kind enough to include a few different accessories that should help me enjoy the product. Even more I. Imagine that's their goal because they don't want any scathing reviews. The first item in the box is a pop socket with some hashtag.

Team pixel branding on it, I've never actually used a pop socket on my phone, but I know a lot of people swear by them. Next, there's a couple of cards mentioning a free month, trial of project by Google's, MVNO telecommunications service, there's also a card highlighting some key features of the new device. If pop sockets aren't your thing, Google included a backup method to protect your device, or at least help you hold on to it better, and that is an official Pixel 3a XL fabric case. Next we have the star of the show the Pixel 3a XL when I first saw Google sent me the XL variant. I was especially giddy because I use my phone a lot.

Man I can use every extra drop of battery life this larger variant offers. Last but not least, we have a tote bag with some Google branding. This will probably be my go-to shopping bag, so this is the Pixel 3a XL box and similar to the Pixel 3a box that we unboxed over on Instagram. It, too, has a nice matte finish with minimal branding. It looks a lot like the pixel 3 box.

Even though the device inside is roughly half the price, you really have no idea. These devices vary so much in price, based off the boxes alone. There are a couple of plastic pull tabs that need to be removed in order to slide off the top of the box. It might be hard to see on camera, but this is the purplish variant, which is the official name believe it or not, and it has a very slight purple hue peeking through the protective plastic wrap. Underneath we have a packet of paperwork, including a SIM card, ejector tool, a get started, guide, safety and warranty information and a hashtag.

Team pixel sticker. The only other items in the box are the male-to-male USB-C charging, cable, male USB, C 2 female USB, 2.0 adapter. That will help you connect your old phone to this phone to transfer data between the vices and an 18 watt fast charging wall, warden. Taking a closer look at the pixel, 3a Excel and unwrapping the plastic. You may start to see a slight violet purple hue emanating from the back of this phone.

It's extremely subtle, but it's there compared to the Pixel 3a XL. This phone does feel slightly lighter because it uses predominantly plastic to help keep the price down, and I can see why Google provided a couple of different accessories in my box to help grip this phone, because it's pretty damn slippery. The power button has a bright neon color that pops and really grabs your attention. There are dual stereo speakers, but the bottom speaker is moved to the bottom of the phone, and it's flanked by the USB-C charging port and what will surely excite? You are the resurrection of the 3.5 millimeter headphone jack. That's now located at the top of the phone.

This might be the deciding factor whether you upgrade to this phone or not. Many other features from the pixel 3 have been carried over to this cheaper device. ?, there's still a rear-facing fingerprint scanner that seems to work well upon. First impressions and I thought for sure the active edge squeeze to bring up the Google Assistant functionality would be dropped to save some money, but it's also here even the display hasn't really been seriously discounted, as it features a 6 inch OLED panel with a 402 pixel per inch index. The top and bottom bezels are chunkier, but there's also no chunky notch at the top, so you know take it or leave it.

What I think is the most impressive thing about this phone, though, is it carries over the same 12 megapixel main camera sensor, which is one of the best on the market, if not the very best mobile camera sensor. Google is able to do this because it doesn't rely on expensive hardware. Instead, it mostly uses software to really enhance your photos. The portrait mode it works by a software and the game-changing nitrite mode uses software to significantly brighten up your dark photos. Now there is only one front-facing 8 megapixel camera, but it still features a fairly wide field of view to help with your selfies, not as wide as the 3 CEL, but still not that much of a compromise, and if that wasn't enough, google packed in a larger 3700 William hour battery in the 3a XL, which should last considerably longer than the more premium handset, because it uses a less powerful processor.

The one thing it doesn't have in this department is wireless charging, but yeah. So there's a there's, a Snapdragon 670 CPU with four gigabytes of RAM, which is not one of chromes, most premium chipsets. But the reason why I'm not really too worried about the performance here is because stock Android seems to run smooth even on clock. Ohms 400 series, chipsets apps, aren't going to open up as quickly, and you might not be able to have as many apps running in the background. But at least the OS is still buttery.

Smooth. Now look I know that it looks like I'm glorifying a device that dude will send me in a neat care package with a bunch of accessories, but it's no secret that I've been a fan of Nexus and pixel devices for years, largely because of the pure Android software they run, but also because at least for the Nexus devices they offer serious bang for your buck. In my view of the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a offer bang for your buck, not seen since the Nexus 5 and if you're in the market for a new phone. You should look into picking up one of these new handsets and just take advantage of some special launch deals going on I, believe Google is offering $100 in Google store, credit and Best Buy I believe is offering $100 gift cards if you buy a Pixel 3a effectively bringing the price down to about $300 for that price. This is an absolute steal.
