Hi everybody, its Aaron from tech, gadgets, Canada, comm and today I'm excited to share a brand-new gadget with you. It's this, the Google Pixel 2 smartphones. It's got a bunch of new features, we'll take a look at what some of those are we're gonna, unbox it first, so you and I can see together exactly what's inside here under the wraps is, of course everything you'd expect to find in a smartphone. What too fast for you all right, so we'll slow it down a bit for you, of course the phone looks kind of the same, but a little different. It does feel a bit thinner a bit of lighter, and it looks to be honest, quite a bit sleeker, the back design is different as well, but let's dig into what else is in the box here, of course, you'll get the requisite instructions which, let's be honest, nobody actually reads those ok up. Next, it's a bit slippery to grip and the figure out here, but this is the power plug which is going to come in handy for charging.
There is also the connector cable so that you can connect your old phone to your new phone or connect a different phone to the pixel phone and get everything transferred and, of course, all the cables you're going to need, as well as a headphone adapter. Alright, we're going to take our first in-depth look here, and I should point out that I've got the pixel 2 XL, which is the slightly larger version of the smartphone, so I'm going to compare it here to the original pixel, which is right here. This is the pixel 2. These are both the XL models, and you can see they're quite similar they're, not all that different in terms of size, they're, quite similar. The screen size on them, and I'll give you guys a better close-up shot here, but the screen size on the pixel 2 is just slightly bigger.
It's just a fraction of an inch bigger the pixel 2. Also, just a hair, thinner I mean not a ton of difference. You're gonna notice, especially once you get a case on it, but it is substantially thinner. There's a couple. Other really neat features that we're going to take a look at here as well.
For starters, it's got an always-on display which basically keeps information you need or want, or constantly access right at your fingertips on the screen. Even though it's off, so you don't waste battery life, something else I'm loving is what's called the live. Earth wallpapers and live wallpaper is pretty much exactly what it sounds like a movie image for your home screen or your lock screen Google's got a bunch of new options for the pixel ?, which include really cool Birds, Eye views of amazing locations, well, they're side by side. Here you can also see some other differences. The new pixel xl2 has an LED display, and it's got curved edges for a little of a sleeker feel there's also something called Google Lens and what Google Lens does is uses the Photos app in the camera to recognize things like landmarks buildings, artworks books, movies, you name it.
It's still a bit of a work in progress, so I'll get some more in-depth testing on that in the next few days and weeks. So there's no headphone jack in the pixel ?, but it does come with that adapter. So, if you've got wired, headphones, you've still got a way to connect them. The phones also waterproof, and it's got a new squeezed feature which lets you squeeze the sides of the phone, and it'll pop up the Google Assistant. For you, the Google Pixel xl2 comes with unlimited storage, which is going to be super handy.
It's also got about 7 hours of battery life off just a 15-minute charge, which is going to be super convenient I'm in the process of doing a full review. This is just your first early look. So if you have any questions, please post them in comments below. You can also hit me up on Twitter or Instagram at Aaron, LY, YC and, of course, that full review once I get it done, we'll be here on the YouTube channel and at tech, gadgets, Canada, comm, so I hope you'll go there and check it out thanks so much for watching catch. You next time.
