Galaxy Z Fold 3 - NOT AGAIN

All of Samsung’s foldable phones up to this point did not use Samsung’s best possible camera systems at the time of release. The Galaxy Z Fold 2, for example, lacks the 108MP sensor and Periscope zoom lens that’s been a headline feature of the past three Galaxy flagships. At the time Samsung launched the Z Fold 2, I thought Space constraints likely played a part in why Samsung couldn’t give the Fold 2 the same system as the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, since the Fold 2 has a far more complicated and intricate design than the traditional candy-bar design of Samsung’s other flagship. But then Huawei threw that assumption out the window by doing just that with the Mate X2. Now there are no excuses for Samsung to not put a periscope zoom lens and the 108MP main sensor, basically the camera setup of the Galaxy S21 Ultra on the Z Fold 3. But it looks like they are still not doing it, the Z Fold 3 will not have a periscope zoom camera again.

We have the camera details of the Z Fold 3 which reveals Samsung is using a triple camera system at the back, and all of the three cameras will have 12MP resolution. They didn't mention what sensors will Samsung use for these, but it’s more than likely they are wide, ultrawide, and telephoto sensors. No periscope zoom camera, no 108MP big sensor and that's a bummer considering, a) Huawei has shown that it is possible to put a periscope camera on a foldable and b) This phone is likely going to cost $2000 and at that price point, I expect this phone to have every bells and whistle of a modern flagship phone. So kind of disappointed and honestly surprised to learn that we're not getting the periscope zoom camera on this thing. Anyway, we also have the camera details of the other two camera sensors.

Those are the under-display camera and the outer display camera. Samsung will put a 10-megapixel Sony’s IMX374 sensor, 1.22um pixel size) on the phone’s cover display, while a 16-megapixel Sony’s IMX298 sensor with 1.12um pixel size will be included as an under-display camera on the main inner display. Now, there's still no information on whether or not the under-display camera will also be a part of the cover display. I guess we'll have to wait and see. With that being said, as you know already Samsung has an Unpacked event scheduled on April 28th and Samsung made this mysterious trailer suggesting the most powerful Galaxy is coming.

Well, we have our first look at this powerful Galaxy as well as its specifications and as you can see, the powerful Galaxy they were teasing is none other than their Galaxy Book laptops. Samsung will launch three of these, Galaxy Book Go, Galaxy Book Pro, and Galaxy Book Pro 360. This 360 (in navy blue) is a convertible laptop with a 360-degree hinge, a touchscreen display, and an S Pen input. The pro laptops will have OLED displays and will be powered by Intel CPUs. Here are the configuration and the price.

It will start with $1099 and all the way up to $1299 for the maxed-out i7 variant. Interestingly, the Galaxy Book Go will have a very attractive price of just $349 and is actually an ARM Windows 10 machine powered by the Snapdragon 7c chipset. The entry-level model will have only 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage though, and that’s something to keep in mind.
